Let me bring this place a bit back to earth. River View is a food stall in the store you walk through before going into High Falls Gorge. There's a cashier you order from, you grab a table, and then they call out your # to grab you food in to go containers. I'd wager to bet many folks prefer to hike a bit and then eat, so this makes sense to me. Prices were ok for the area. Pricing is reasonable for what you get. I ordered a chili dog which was one of the local upstate brands, so it was stellar. Wish they went lighter on the chili/cheese, but I just removed it and ate with the homemade chips. My son liked his fries, and my wife liked her food too. I wanted to get the trout I see on menus online, but it's no longer on the menu. Got a shake too which hit the spot. I'm eating this place what it deserves, which is not bad at all. What bugged me is that the reviews were off here across different platforms; folks were making this sound like a full blown restaurant, when it's just a family-owned food stop for the trail. We went out of our way so want to guide others, even if it was ok in the end. Keep your expectations in check. read more

Our group was generally happy with their menu selections. I had the black bean burger which had a good flavor and texture. Things may have been a bit pricey but we were stuck for options. Food arrived quickly and the eating area was clean and pleasant. It opens into their gift shop. We did the walk to the falls and back after lunch. Not sure that it was a $20 walk but it was still pretty and interesting. read more

The food at the cafe was surprisingly delicious. I had the Gorge Burger with Jack Cheese. It was a great burger.

I had the breakfast burrito and an iced latte 10/10!! I recommend for before or after the hike/waterfall view.

Spent the day at High Falls Gorge with the beautiful waterfalls here and the nature trail. We had lunch with food from the Riverside Café located here at High Falls Gorge. The food was outstanding. I have to say I had a gorge burger that was top-notch one of the best burgers I've ever had, Cook perfectly and seasoned perfectly. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich which she raved about, it was served on a croissant with some mixed greens. Looked great. Our granddaughter had chicken fingers that she finished completely. We were very happy. Now I know why this place was so busy with the food being so good! I don't know where the other reviewer was at when she said it was dirty. This place was clean and charming. You could also take you good out got the picnic area and eat riverside. read more

My lunch was awful. I had a chicken sandwich that was in no way freshly cooked. It looked and tasted like they'd cooked it days ago, pulled it out of the fridge and made a sad attempt to reheat it and they messed that up because it was still cold. This dud was served with greasy sour cream flavored chips and an unappealing broccoli salad. I gave up trying to eat it halfway thru and as I was still hungry, I bought a peanut butter cookie at the gift shop store that was delicious. I recommend you eat anywhere else. The servers were nice. Hidden behind the souvenir shop at High Falls Gorge, this nondescript place took me by surprise with its fresh and delicious lunch options. I got the Artisanal Veggie Pizza and honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be artisanal or have too many veggies. Wrong on both counts! The pizza was so well done - crisp but not charred, had a mix of crumbly feta and cheddar, and the toppings included zucchini and red peppers. Fantastic! Other dishes on table included a tomato basil soup, grilled cheese and a trout sandwich. Everything was super fresh and had the best ingredients - you could taste it...no skimping. Definitely recommend. They need to add an outdoor seating area with a view of the beautiful falls in summer to make this a truly memorable experience. read more

Friendly staff, the food was tasty, and the wine was great too. I liked the alcove area with the fireplace and the couch. My only recommendation would be to add a dimmer switch in the alcove area. The overhead lights were rather bright for an after dinner drink. The place is cozy and a great addition to the local food choices. read more

I visited HFG and tried out their newly renovated restaurant and was I impressed. The food was excellent and included the freshest of ingredients. Chef Tim adds new specials every day and the service was impeccable. The view of the Ausable with Whiteface in the background was amazing. Local and regional beers and wine are available. I highly recommend this for your casual dining experience for breakfast or lunch. read more

Nice quaint Bistro. Missy was our server and did an excellent job very professional. My daughter got the two hot dogs which came on texas-sized buns. Nephew got the pepperoni pizza which was thin crust very good. Soup of the day was chicken vegetable very good tasty. Also got the rainbow trout hamburger which was delicious. Mozzarella cheese sticks not so good. Needed more mozzarella cheese filled. Excellent food and good service. Very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food that we received. If you are skiing whiteface and need a quick bite before getting back on the road, look and drive no further because this is the place! Good food with some home made specials. Love the trout sandwich, wings were just the regular old wings you get everywhere, great beer prices during happy hour (right when the mountain closes). Convenient. read more

Stopped in here after walking the waterfall trail. Very clean and friendly staff. Place looks brand new and it basically is. I had the summer vegetable salad which was summer squash, zucchini and red peppers over a bed of spinach with a curry sauce. It was delicious. Super fresh ingredients. The chicken I added on was cooked wonderfully. I would definitely recommend stopping in here for a bite. read more
