This would end up costing my $17 and change, expensive and not a good value. The food was served cold, clearly not made in house, and service was indifferent at best. Go someplace else, like one of the restaurants in Inlet, about 5 miles up canyon. Getting wait staff attention for some coffee was the first challenge and indication of the pending experience. The food took over 45 minutes to come out, even for such a simple order, and the 2 times I was able to grab attention for a coffee refill really felt like I was imposing on someone. The gravy arrived cold - not "was on the warmer for a while" cold, but "we just got this out of the walk-in" cold, and returned from a brief trip through a shower of microwaves barely warmed. The corned beef hash was clearly scooped out of a can on to the grill and was a small portion for the price. All while while trying to inject myself between wait staff and their indifference to get coffee, check, warmed gravy, water refill, etc. 7 minutes after leaving I drove past a few restaurants in Inlet, with less crowding and looking just as quaint as Keyes. I'll try there next time I'm through this area. Definitely not Keyes!

If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

The switch to Mexican cuisine is puzzling and seems to be filing a market no one was asking for. The good news... it was incredibly easy to get a table on a Saturday evening, when you used to have to wait 30-45 minutes. The staple of any good Mexican restaurant? Chips and salsa to start. It seemed as though they dug in the bottom of the pantry and pulled out a bag from nine months ago to get us started. Fortunately, it was paired with some extremely mediocre salsa from a jar. What a perfect combination to not overdo it before your meal comes! Speaking of that meal, they quickly dropped some cool to maybe luke warm, far from authentic Mexican cuisine on our table. If you like your rice al dente and crunchy, put in an extra order. They might even remember to bring it to you. Thankfully they forgot ours and took it off the bill. The only hope is that they can pivot out of this as quickly as they changed into it. The lack of any Mexican flare beyond a few star decorations hanging from the ceiling should help with that. Otherwise, I can't see this place surviving. The beer was so-so at best, which was evidenced by the four people sitting at the bar during a World Cup quarterfinal match. The second star was earned by our friendly and understanding server when we expressed our concerns. I'm sure this change is taking money out of his pocket, which truly sucks for him. Please... give us the old Big Slide back.
