Wow! Amazing food, we had a great breakfast. I had a breakfast burrito and hubby had an omelette and home fries. I ordered a Greek yogurt with their homemade granola to go, and wow that was amazing! Coffee was self serve in a corner near the soup stand. It did take a 15 minute wait for our order to come up, I noticed all the locals ordered ahead online. So I highly recommend that strategy. Especially if you want to order a lunch sandwich for the hiking trail... they had so many interesting sandwich options you might want to study your options ahead of the time. read more

We ordered 3 sandwiches. It took 25 minutes for them to be made. We haven't been here for several years because of how slow they are, but we thought we would give it another chance. There are always multiple people behind the counter (today there were FOUR) but no one is ever actually DOING anything. Glaciers melt faster. The sandwiches were fine, nothing to write home about, but fine. They made us four sandwiches, rather than the three we ordered and charged us for all four, which we didn't discover until too late. In town visiting and really felt like having an iced caffeinated beverage. The staff was very helpful in helping me decide which drink to choose. They all sounded delicious and if I lived closer I would keep coming back to try them all. Denise got extra excited when she described the Maple Latte to me. I'm not a big salad eater, but I did order one here. They had a fairly wide range of options... ended up ordering a Little Crow because it had spinach and also goat cheese which I really love. The salad was fine and came with a delicious maple vinaigrette. Unfortunately they were fairly stingy with the goat cheese and bacon... there was only a minimal amount of both. However, in recent times the prices have risen and at the same time, the contents inside have been reduced considerably. They are still good but are not what they once were. I love this place, especially the fact that you can order ahead online and have your food waiting for you when you arrive. Their 46 sandwiches named after the High Peaks all look delicious. My two go-to sandwiches are Gothics and Hough, but this past weekend I forced myself to try two new sandwiches, since they all look amazing. The Blake (buffalo chicken melt) was very tasty and I will add that to my rotation. Their caramelized onions are delicious. They also have a variety of flavorful homemade breads to choose from, like asiago peppercorn and basil pesto. Of their soups, I've only ever tried the New England Clam Chowder, but it was really good. I also really enjoy their macaroni salad. read more

BUYER BEWARE! My best friend ordered her wedding cake from them and it was horrible. It was a small cake and my friend had asked for a wintery scene when we went into the shop. Apparently she had previous conversations with the baker. She made some changes two days before the wedding, which they were ok with. However on the wedding day the cake was delivered to us at the hotel late in the day as we were leaving for the dinner. We carried it to the restaurant where the dinner would be. Immediately, we all noted how utterly plain it was. It did have the coconut on top to look like snow and two very tiny cranberry sprigs. I could tell my friend was disappointed because words like "whimsical" were used during their discussion. There was no whimsy involved. Zero whimsy! However my friend said she would be happy if it tasted great. Sadly, she would be disappointed there as well. When the cake was served to us the outer layer of white genache was very hard and the inside was heavy and dry. It didn't have much taste either. None of us finished our piece of cake and the bride told the kitchen to chuck it in the bin because she didn't want it. I wrote to them and they apologized and chalked it all up to not being served at the proper temperature. They wished my friend well but didn't offer any refund for a cake that wasn't even eaten, so she spent $100 dollars for 4 barely eaten pieces of cake and the Manager was fine with that. I stopped in here after many recommendations from locals and I was not disappointed. They really do have 46 Subs! And that doesn't include their breakfast menu with other mountains to try haha. I love the variety and everything is customizable to the way you'd like it. The food was super good. They had a lot of baked goods and pastries and a small eating area. My only real issue with this place is they have terrible hours. It's impossible to get here on a regular weekday and on the weekends. They're so busy there's a line out the door. I bet they could double their business if they had evening hours for dinner, but hey, it is what it is. Definitely yummy. Definitely would go back. Highly recommend. read more

They were absolutely slammed when we came for lunch. It was a LONG wait for food (over 30 minutes standing waiting for 2 sandwiches!) but it was clear that they were busy. It's a counter where you order and then are given a number stand and wait for the food- you can eat at a table inside or outside (we enjoyed the weather outside) or take the food to go. There were about 15 orders before ours, hence the wait. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious, I just hope they can figure out away to accommodate the demand and speed up their service because that would be my main hesitation with going back. read more

Four employee's "working" one who took our order for 2 sandwiches, one girl apparently new making sandwiches, one was apparently a panini specialist, and the last girls job was apparently just to say hi to the random local who came in...she might have had some other specialist job but as we were only there for 1/2 hour waiting for our sandwich that was all I actually saw her do. Pretty good, but I've had better. I had the Phelps sandwich (tomato basil mozzarella and balsamic) and sadly it was lacking the basil. I was expecting it to be on a homemade crusty bread, but it was on something that resembled old wonder bread. My boyfriend got the whiteface which was turkey, avocado, spinach, and mayo (thinking that's it). He also got it on white bread and he said that it could have used more inside, which was agreed upon. Surprisingly, they actually told people there to order lunch that they were really backed up and couldn't help them. Staff seemed unhappy/ like they were doing you a favor and then announced the dack shack was open in case anyone wanted to go there instead. Really hard to stand there and watch some who's making sandwiches itch her nose with her forearm -- especially in the days of covid. I loved this place! We stopped in to have coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Delicious! The space is so cute and the staff was really nice. It was empty when we arrived but steadily grew busier. I had a horrible experience trying to work with Simply Gourmet Catering Company. Holly the owner was very unorganized, unprofessional and called me demanding because I wanted to pay my bill in full a little over a month prior to my event. In addition the customer I received from her staff consisted of me calling to try to pay and no one calling me back for two weeks in a row. Needless to say I canceled my order. Also as a side note after my unpleasant experience with this company I found out someone I know went through Simply Gourmet for a bridal shower and Holly the owner actually forgot all about the order and it never came for the shower. We used to order in town at the big mountain deli but they are always frustratingly busy that their wait times are more like 30-50% longer than stated! Film Catering I was producing a low budget graduate thesis film in Lake Placid February 2019. In my search for a caterer/craft services I ran across Simply Gourmet. They were extremely helpful and patient while working with me and my off the wall requirements (odd hours of the day, 14 meals 3x a day). The cast and crew absolutely loved the chef crafted and home made food that was provided on time and fresh, daily. We even had a couple of vegetarians and gluten free crew members that needed catering to and Simply Gourmet was happy to oblige. Highly recommended for a productions shooting in the Lake Placid/Saranac areas. The price was extremely reasonable as well! read more

I come back because the food is so good. Everything else is mediocre. Service is slow and they aren't always very pleasant. Today I ordered ahead, walked there and still waited. Then they put my sandwich aside without calling my name. I was there only one waiting for food. To be fair there were people picking up when I arrived. The set up inside is confusing which isn't necessary. They always have a lot of empty shelves in the middle of the floor inhibiting floor space. Prices are high. We love their sandwiches so much that we got the same ones 2 days in a row! We went to both the Big Mountain Deli and this location and got the same sandwiches at both places. The Giant was my personal favorite that I ordered both days, and it eas definitely big enough for 2. I tried both the Asiago peppercorn and Basil Pesto breads, and the Basil Pesto was sooooo flavorful and won hands down in my book. Their giant PB cookies are the best I think I have ever had, too!!!!
