I had the eggs Benedict with the redwood fresh squeezed juice. They added ice to my juice, which is a no-no. Fresh squeezed should never be watered down or chilled with ice. Lovely traditional English muffins and just th right amount of hollandaise. The baby roasted and braised potatoes are tender and tasty. It is little pricey, but worth it, minus the gossiping ladies at the next table. Complaining about some family member. Otherwise, peaceful and delicious. May return. Somehow, when I made our hotel reservations, I failed to notice that they did not offer a free breakfast. When we checked in, we noticed the breakfast area, but when we went down in the morning, we discovered that the menu was very limited. We went back up to our room and packed and checked out and headed toward our morning destination. I found River Vine on Yelp and because it was mostly on the way to where we were going, I headed there. The River Vine is the restaurant for the Vintner's Resort. From the parking lot, the signage to the restaurant was a bit confusing but we managed to find an open door and from there, it was a straight shot to the dining room. We appeared to be the first guests. I checked with our server to make sure that we could get service in the short amount of time that we had. He assured me that he would get the kitchen right on our order. Since she had had leftovers in our room from the night before, all she ordered were some mini sugar donuts and a latte. She ate one donut and was thoroughly satisfied. I needed something a bit more substantial, so I ordered Huevos Rancheros. Their presentation was a little different from what I'm used to. Everything was stacked. Tortillas, beans, eggs, salsa, shredded cheese. Pop the entire plate under a salamander, remove and top with sour cream, avocado slices and cilantro. It was hot and delicious! With it, I had a decent cup of coffee. I would have liked to stay and have a couple more, but we were in a rush and the place we were going to didn't have easily accessible restrooms. Food was so-so: it filled the belly but was uninspiring. My pulled pork quesadilla didn't have much flavor, as both the cheese and pork were bland. Salsa, sour cream, and guacamole were included, but the portions were insufficient to smear around the entire quesadilla. My S.O ordered the Huevos Rancheros, which were relatively tasty, but perhaps on the smaller side, and again, the amount of salsa was a bit modest. The place feels like it's primarily there for guests of the inn to grab a bite before going wine tasting; and that's probably all I'd recommend it for. If you're intent on coming to the Vintners Inn for a bite, stick with the John Ash restaurant (for dinner); it's a much better (albeit more pricey) choice. read more

I came for the bottomless brunch at River Vine which they have available on Saturdays and Sundays. It's $49 for bottomless drinks and an entree selection. I'm a sucker for a good bottomless brunch. If you choose this option, you choose from a limited entree menu with decent selections. The food was delicious. We ordered the steak and eggs and the pacific eggs benedict. The server initially brought out the wrong entree (the corned beef benedict, pictured), however, they handled the situation gracefully. They apologized and let us keep the meal, free of charge. The mimosas were generously flowing. They also have a variety of flavors aside from the standard orange juice, including strawberry and peach, which I appreciated. We did a girls' weekend in California at the end of October and wanted a brunch place that met the vibe check on winery day. I came across their reviews, and we did a quick change to check them out instead of our original choices. I'm so glad we did. There is an inn/hotel and spa on the grounds, and there is a beautiful serene esthetic to everything. Take a picture by the beautiful fountain if you go.(My friends are in that photo, so I left it out.) Their landscaping is top tier, so make sure you have time to roam the grounds. Our waitress was very friendly and had great suggestions. We tried the mini donuts, and they were very good. Though the Apple jack flavor in the sauce was verrrry muted. I loved the huevos rancheros, though I wish I'd just ordered the sauce on them not on the side. Another patron said the sauce was spicy, but what I got was not. My bff and I started our girls day with breakfast here. We were warmly greeted and chose a seat outside. We began with mimosas, I chose peach and she chose strawberry. The mimosas were so fresh and crisp, the flavors weren't too sweet, they were just right. For our meals I ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and she had their special which was corned beef and hash with eggs. I believe our server's name was Vicki, that's what was listed on the receipt, but she was spectacular. My friend is a mom of three under three, so this was special for her to enjoy this time and our server made sure we had the best experience. My breakfast was delish, the hollandaise sauce was flavored with Myer lemon which paired perfectly with the smoked salmon. The Cajun potatoes were cooked with the perfect crisp. My friend loved her dish, the meat was tender and full of flavor. I can't wait to visit our friends again and plan another day here. I understand that this is Sonoma wealth, however the food prices are obscene. $25 for an egg dish and if you want meat with it, it's an additional $10. The restaurant was empty which tells me the hotel is seasonal and our locals are not patroning this restaurant for the reasons listed above. It does have one if the most beautiful settings and ambiance. 4.5 of 5 for ambiance Food-for the price of my breakfast and what I got, I could have gotten a significantly better meal at a local diner. The Benedict was tasty but the plating was terrible. Two eggs Benedicts with maybe 10 whole roasted mini potatoes separately placed on the plate and two sprigs of greens. Really? $22 for that? $6 for cup of coffee. I was greatly disappointed. Not good plating or great representation of Fresh Sonoma County produce. Sorry I didn't take a picture. 2 of 5 Service 3 of 5. The servers are not actively friendly. I asked for extra cream from the wait staff and instead of just saying ok, she pointed to someone else for me to ask. I didn't ask. Giving three stars to a John Ash establishment is not easy for me to do. I've lived in Santa Rosa since 1984 and I recognize the "institution" that he is, and I respect the hard work and excellence that he brings for Sonoma County. But, for this first time visit, for a Saturday morning breakfast, for four adults and two children (ages 9 and 7)... The positives: *We were greeted graciously and - without a reservation - only had a ten minute wait. We expected a longer wait, so this was quite good. *The menu items we all ordered were very good and even delicious. The fresh squeezed fruit juices were a hit, as were the croissant beignets. Water glasses were attended to regularly as were the coffee cups. *Ambiance is "John Ash": tastefully wonderful, comfortable and elegant without hype. The not-positives: *Were they understaffed this morning? It took easily 20-30 minutes to get our order taken and drinks delivered from being actually seated. Our wait staff was friendly and considerate, yet he "felt" hurried. *When the food items arrived, all the adults were semi-sporadically served first, and it was another five minutes easily before the children received their dishes. They ended up having samples off the adult plates because...well, they're hungry children and need to be SERVED FIRST, NOT LAST. Perhaps the restaurant is not used to a work flow like this, but it's a protocol worth looking at. (Perhaps this is my biggest red flag...) *The food prices are rather what I expected at this establishment. (I've had dinner at the main restaurant a few times, so I didn't expect a "diner" tab...) That said, I did find the serving sizes of all my entrees to be smaller than I expected. Did I starve? Of course not. The food itself was fine. I simply didn't expect to have as small a portions as was served. (As one reviewer noted, be ready to pay out $100 for b'fast for two plus a tip...) *And speaking of tipping, I will admit ignorance on this next point and be ready for correction: 18% gratuity was included in the total price, in addition to the 3% for the back of house cut. Not a problem: I probably missed that fine print on the menu. (I normally tip twice the CA tax as a general routine.) When the final bill comes to sign, there's another line for TIP. I had already tipped in the total bill when I dropped my card, so why am I being asked again? Is this for a patron who want's to be generous or has had a special experience and want to tip some more? It left me cold and I left the line blank. I am researching the matter, however... Honestly, I don't think I'll be back and primarily because of the two children having to wait. To the main restaurant for dinner? Yes. Easily. But the River Vine wasn't worth the price of admission for this reviewer. read more

First off the food was amazing. We had breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict, which was arguably one of the best I have ever had. My wife and father in law had omelets that they both like. My mother had the French Toast which was a masterpiece in itself. In addition to the food the service and atmosphere were great as well. So why not 5 stars? PRICE. I do not mind paying for good food, but for me this place is still slightly higher than it should be. Vegetarian review - freshly made ingredients in the food that tasted awesome. We ordered a vegetarian eggs and French toast which was the special of the day. Both were great and wouldn't mind eating again next time. Vegetarian eggs came with potatoes that were nice and crisp and eggs were done perfectly done with a not at all soggy spinach, slightly crispy peppers and perfectly cooked black beans. What a nice combination! French toast came with fruits and some syrup because the toast wasn't already dipped in it, that was very good thinking because not everyone likes French toast to be too sweet. There was also a side of butter and figs/ ginger jam type thing with was a very nice touch and yummy. Maybe my experience is limited but I was amazed at how not greasy the butter was. This was my first time, but was completely blown away at how beautiful the place is as well as the wonderful service. Nakai was our waiter and she was friendly and patient. We had a bigger party and she was on top of all our orders and refills. She was very polite and delivered exceptional service. Flavio was helping clear the table and was polite and kind as well. But now that it has moved next door as part of John Ash, the prices have increased drastically, the choices are fewer, and the food, while beautifully presented, was very bland (mushroom cavatelli and a benedict with salmon). Online prices are not presented or don't match the daily menu presentation. Maybe these things will improve. Still a stunningly beautiful place to go. But now, for us, maybe just for special occasions instead of every weekend. read more

The food at this restaurant is great. The servings are generous. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The outdoor seating is lovely. Indoors can be noisy when full. I have one major complaint. I always make reservations and confirm those reservations the day before. However, it is not this restaurant's practice to hold a table for you if they get busy. I have arrived on time and been told no table is available and that I would have to wait. I was left wondering what is the point of making a reservation and confirming said reservation if a table is not reserved for your party? I've seen the same thing happen to other parties. One other complaint is that it can take quite a while to be served. read more

I had the Pacific Eggs Benedict, which included smoked salmon and spinach. Perfect! Their Crispy Potatoes (side) are a nice variation on breakfast potatoes, as well! So light and airy! I have only been here for breakfast/brunch a couple of times, but the food is pretty great. Their Benedicts are tasty and weirdly, their breakfast potatoes are a highlight. I would not recommend their Bloody Mary, and would opt for a mimosa instead. I just feel like they are kind of small and bland and just not what I am looking for in a Bloody. The restaurant itself is kind of loud. There are a couple sections/rooms and sitting in the smaller two rooms at the front is preferable to the big room in the back. It is a little too open and gets loud and its one of those rooms that you feel overly exposed when you sit in the tables in the middle. It is moderately priced and frankly cheap if you are used to dining at the dinner restaurant on grounds or staying at the hotel. I plan on eating here again. read more
