We are so happy Jimmy opened his new restaurant at Windsor Golf Course. Beautiful location! We spent Mother's Day enjoying delicious food, friendly staff & Jimmy himself making sure we were happy. All the while sitting on the covered patio overlooking a lovely pond/lake, green grass, fountain & watching a mother duck with her ducklings. Truly a hidden gem & my favorite restaurant. The service was genuinely top-notch, our young waiter was incredibly attentive, personable, and made us feel well taken care of. I also want to acknowledge owner Jimmy, who reached out to me this morning with genuine passion and concern for his restaurant. He clearly takes feedback seriously, and I respect that deeply. That said, the meal itself didn't quite land for me personally. But I see plenty of other reviews here raving about the food, so it may just come down to taste or an off night. Between the excellent service and Jimmy's dedication, I felt my original score was unfair. My goal was never to harm anyone's reputation, just to share my experience. Overcooked, poor timing, very disappointing. We had reservations for 13 (including toddler and infant) on Mother's Day- with 4 generations of moms (grandma is 101). We've used this location in the past multiple times for gatherings due to convince when it was Charlie's. We had the small banquet room reserved - and we were shocked that on Mother's Day there were no table clothes. We ate on industrial plastic covered tables. No flowers - nothing. I believe our waitress was covering our party as well as others but not sure. Menu was simple breakfast options - omelet, eggs Benedict, chilaquiles... nothing crazy. Given the holiday we visited while waiting to order and get settled- which was quite some time. This doesn't affect the rating as we understand the demands of the day. When our food finally arrived the first people served - my brother in law, niece's boyfriend and cousin - none of which sat next to one another. Mothers should've been served first or at the very least my 101yr old grandmother- who was the LAST to be served. I ordered eggs Benedict- potato's over cooker, egg was solid / overcooked, muffin not cooked and the ham slices were cold and dry. It took great effort to cut with a butter knife - I had to pick up. It was not pleasant. My mother had the same and felt the same, sister had the Florentine Benedict and her eggs overcooked and potato's dry and over cooked. My mother in law ordered the only omelette (house) which had jalapeño s that were in big chunks she began pulling them out as it was unpleasant to eat chunks of jalapeños. She said her omelette was ok but only ate half and left her potato's. The photo posted is her finished plate My grandma ordered two eggs over easy which were also hard she got a stip of bacon and one sausage- she said her potato's were overcooked as well as her egg which was hard . $700 bill with over half the room having iced tea,/ non alcoholic beverages. I hope the owner reads this and makes changes- holidays/ special occasions should have linens at the very least. The guests of honor should be served first and acknowledged first. I can understand that one order of eggs Benedict is improperly cooked but ALL orders of eggs were overcooked. With such a limited "special" menu which seemed pretty normal- one would think the kitchen staff would be able to execute it properly. Had a great lunch last weekend. I took our servers suggestion and ordered the steak sandwich that had caramelized onions and blue cheese and it was delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. The place has a somewhat cafeteria vibe inside and the food presentation was pretty plain but don't let that fool you! Everyone enjoyed their food. read more

First time to Jimmy's and really enjoyed my lunch, as did everyone in my group! I had a BLT -- the bacon was cooked PERFECTLY for a sandwich, and the L and T were fresh (tell me you're in California without telling me you're in California...). Another person had a veggie omelet, a person who was way over 12 got the under 12 breakfast (bacon, eggs, French toast -- just a smaller portion of each). In the lunch category, one friend got the veggie burger and another got the club sandwich. Everyone was happy with what they ordered! A couple of tips: Order some onion rings. They're super thin, not greasy at all, and just delicious! Also, if you order french fries, order them on the well done side. I had sweet potato fries with my sandwich, and I'd suggest regular fries the next time. Not that the sweet fries weren't good, I just thought the regular ones were better! Lovely server who tag teamed with the owner on our service. We were glad we went on the slightly earlier side, because within about 20 minutes the place filled up! There's a bar and two televisions on the wall for folks who like to come watch sports. I don't usually like that in a bar or restaurant, but it's olympics season and it was really fun to be watching some of that with a group. What a transformation! When Jim Goff (formerly of the beloved Sky Lounge at the Santa Rosa Airport) took over what used to be Charlie's at Windsor Golf Club, this place got exactly what it needed--a complete refresh. The restaurant has finally been brought out of the late '80s with a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like somewhere you actually want to spend an evening. Even better, Jim brought back some of the Sky Lounge favorites, including those legendary chicken wings, which are still some of the best you'll find anywhere in Sonoma County. They're usually my go-to, along with the BLTA. Last night, though, my friends and I decided to branch out, and we're glad we did. We ordered the Tiger Prawns, the Bacon Burger, and the Penne Pasta from the dinner menu, and every dish was a winner. Everything was flavorful, well-prepared, and generously portioned. Whether you're looking for a post-work happy hour, dinner with friends, or just a relaxing evening on their fantastic patio overlooking the golf course, Jimmy's Lakeside delivers. It's rare to see a restaurant get both the physical makeover and the menu makeover exactly right, but that's what happened here. Do yourself a favor and stop by. I have a feeling Jimmy's Lakeside is going to become Windsor's neighborhood gathering spot before long. read more

OOPS! So I've been golfing at Windsor Golf Club for over 40 years (damn I'm old!) and Charlie's restaurant has been a mainstay. Never "great" food but passable, and the ambience quite nice, bordering on upscale. Enter the new owner, name, and TERRIBLE remodeling. I can't really give a complete review of the food due to a small sample size, but the fresh, hand cut fries were soggy and limp. Yes I requested extra crispy, hence my disappointment. The potential was there from a flavor standpoint, but a miss on the fry time. I had the Adult grilled cheese with ham and it was maybe slightly above average, but the amount of ham was sad, maybe 2 or 3 ounces. The bright note on the food were the salads. They were fresh and the two dressings we had were solid. The service was excellent, so thank you, Emily. She was friendly, efficient and checked in with us on a timely fashion. Ok, now here's more detail on the OOPs! Fire your architect!!! What was once a classy(ish) restaurant, turned into a bland, blank, sports bar vibe with literally NO texture. Kind of had the feeling of a high school cafeteria! Perhaps some big plants, or vibrant colored table cloths would help, but man, what a complete miss! Oh, and the acoustics were a nightmare, with three loud men at the bar drowning out the entire restaurant. I will continue to go and support the cause as it's a tradition, but I will stick with the lovely outside patio, and give the occasional golf clap to the people hitting off the adjacent 10th tee. Been here recently for two community events. Both were catered and hosted at Jimmy's Lakeside at the Golf Course. Wonderful space, excellent service and the food was fantastic. One event was a breakfast and the eggs, sausage, potatoes, and fruit were top notch. The other was a dinner and the chicken Marsala, mashed potatoes, veggies, and salad were superb. My husband and our whole family, my in laws, etc.. came here on Mother's Day and we had a 20/10 experience! We arrived early and were just going to wait until our table was ready but the staff went ahead and set up our table outside as requested and reserved it just for us. The staff was so accommodating, friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience extra special and I can't say enough great things. The food was incredible and service was efficient! The owner, Jimmy, was also so kind and even came over to introduce himself and ask if we needed anything. I have been back since and my experience was also a 20/10! Used to be Charlie's grill? Place was very clean and very new. Only opened for a couple weeks. Service was great but again, "New" and you could tell by the lack of preparedness and some things they were out of on the menu. We still enjoyed the homemade clam chowder and salad were very delicious. I'm less than impressed with the revamped restaurant. I get cafeteria vibes from the ambiance. The acoustics are terrible and the feeling is not warm and inviting. I have visited on two occasions and decided after the first visit, which was only a few weeks after opening under new ownership I would visit again later to see if things would improve but sadly, I will likely be visiting Russian River Brewery if I don't want to travel for a meal but don't feel like cooking. I live nearby so had hopes it would be a nice alternative but can't say I'm a fan. My partner is a golfer and this is also not an attractive option for those who are mid round and want a sandwich. Just to give you an idea, I'm not clear who would choose to pay $22 for a standard tuna sandwich. The owner used to own the restaurant at the Airport and is treating this menu in the same way. When you are at the airport, you're trapped and have no alterative options; if you're hungry, yes you will order, but he missed the mark here. The food quality does not match the price point. In addition another thing that threw me off was the lack of awareness of the owner. I walked in stood waiting for some time to be acknowledged and the owner just ignored and waited for one of the staff to greet me. If he had just said, "welcome, we will be right with you" that would have gone a long way. Once the staff took over, they were lovely and their service was great. I am just a firm believer of modeling the behavior you want to see and this should be most evident in the service and by ownership . As I shared earlier, this was not my first visit, on both occasions, the food has been okay, nothing I would crave or recommend. If I had friends staying the Worldmark resort or traveling through the area, I would encourage them to travel just a little bit further to Russian River or into the town of Windsor or to John Ash for a better dining experience. read more

First time being to this place in years, was excited to see new Owner- revamp. The place looks good! We each all had a round of expresso martinis paired with some sides Calamari- with delicious dips served with it. Sweet potato fries And onion rings ( the good thing kind) None of which was super greasy ( a plus when eating not so good for you food) Ranch was good And ended w a tiramisu to share easily w 4 of us We enjoyed our trip in and look forward to coming back. Well we have been there twice...once we sat at the tiny bar and this last time on the patio... the food was good and the menu was ok, but the ambiance is horrible...echoing, and really no decor or theme...first of all when you walk in the sign says seat yourself? That's what we do at an In and Out! hardly anyone there and inside it looked like a break room at a business...it's is definitely not a cozy comfy atmosphere...so we sat on the patio that we've sat on many times before when Charlie's was there...and looking around there is not a flower in sight ! No potted plants no hanging plants, just dust, leaves, papers on the ground and tons of cob webs! Geez clean it up and make it look inviting! You have to face the golf course to see anything tranquil...get rid of the ugly stainless side table that belongs in the kitchen...buy some new umbrellas that don't say Korbel because they were free... even out the tables! it looked like they only wanted to use part of the patio and pushed the other tables away! Plus I hate the chairs as did everyone there...you can't Scoot up to the table without sitting on the edge of the chair...surprisingly the service was good, probably because it wasn't busy... but servers are young and not personable. They seemed to be in a hurry to go home.... And please turn off the 70's music...you can barely hear it but you can sure hear the static! I was so hoping for a fun garden like setting to relax in, drink wine and eat appetizers, maybe a charcuterie...so sad and disappointing...hope they take the customers critiquing and make a few changes... read more

A group of 5 of us had an early Friday night dinner. Firstly I want to say our server did all she could to make things right The ambiance is white and black and BORING. The acoustics are terrible so inside is very loud. We ordered cocktails and food, off the happy hour and off the dinner menu. The only item that got a satisfactory mark was the clam chowder soup. The bar was lacking in two areas, they did not have brandy in stock and our vodka martinis were undrinkable. The tuna melt and a BLT were second rate at best. The spinach salad was good the balsamic dressing was not. The sliders and mini burgers on the happy hour menu were good, the French fries were not! read more

I am not familiar with the area and went on Yelp for a recommendation, one was Jimmy's lakeside Grill. I didn't know the history and was not playing golf! The setting along the lake is enjoyable, the restaurant was not crowded or loud and I enjoyed a table in the patio. My lunch was Mary's special meatloaf sandwich which was excellent along with sweet potato fries. The server was attentive but not intrusive. I would go again. The one thing that bothered my was the BOH Charge of 3% on the bill. It turns out that it is not a BOH benefit for the dishwashers, cooks, etc, but a surcharge for use of a credit card! Since I used cash, that amount was refunded to me. (It appears that the Clover POS system did not properly reflect the cc surcharge). read more

I ordered a $45 NY steak. It was disgusting. Overcooked, stringy and tasteless. Almost like it had been in the freezer for a long time. Yuck. When "the manager" came over she told me the steaks they have are "great quality". The NY was a little over 1/4 inch thick, not $45 quality. The "manager" was incredibly rude and condescending. She took the entree off the bill and also two cups of soup. Not enough to get me to go back to Jimmy's. I told her I would just discuss it with the owner. She let me know the owner is her dad. Unprofessional family business? And bad quality steaks. Not a good combination. I wish I would have taken a picture. read more

Jimmy came from the airport restaurant. When he left because of the airport expansion, he was missed. Now jimmy's lakeside grill is on the 19th hole, formally Charlie's grill. Went there Thursday. Expansive menu. The food we had were appetizers that were incredible! The service was great! Jimmy's remodel is super nice. Big screen TV's for sports! The bar is immaculate. I love this location, and I loved Charlie's. I've been twice since it opened as Jimmy's, and I just want give some feedback. First of all, the server and Jimmy were so nice and welcoming. They were a bit short staffed...so drinks and food took awhile. The interior has been stripped down and updated(?) . I totally get wanting to give it a solid change, but it's a bit blah...maybe more decor to come? It's also distractingly echoey...hard to have a conversation. The ambiance just isn't as warm as it used to be. The menu ? Maybe that's a work in progress too...they need to combine their lunch and dinner menus...and offer more appetizers. And I don't get the sushi. We have plenty of sushi in Sonoma County. I wish I could "gush" about the new restaurant, but it's just not there (yet?) I will keep trying! read more

My sister and I went a few weeks ago on a Saturday. She's been recovering from an injury so it's been a long time since she's been able to comfortably sit at a restaurant. We heard that a new place had opened at the golf course and it has such a nice patio with a beautiful view so we thought we'd try it. After we seated ourselves, we were greeted pretty quickly to see if we wanted drinks. We thought she was our waitress but a very nice young man was the one that took our order. We looked through the menu and noticed that the prices were pretty high. We ended up getting the BLT and the portobello sandwich. Unfortunately both sandwiches were underwhelming. It was a pretty basic BLT with very dry bread. I got a side of mayo to bring some moisture to the sandwich but it didn't help much. (Side note: I believe the mayo was homemade and really tasty!) The portobello sandwich was just the mushroom with a little bit of caramelized onions. They were each $22 which is very expensive for an average sandwich. The best part of the meal were the fries and they weren't anything special and the mayo. Pretty sad. We won't be back. (2nd side note: Just this past weekend, we decided to visit a long standing chain restaurant to see how it compared and the chain was much better and much cheaper!) read more

Defiantly a great spot to stop after a round of golf and get a few cocktails and bites. Also if your making the turn at hole 10 stop in for a golfers cocktail. $10 for anything. Came to try out Jimmys Lakeside with my family. We did not leave disappointed. The food was great and the service was even better. We got the Steak sandwich, fish and chips, chicken Alfredo and the kids got chicken strips and fries. Everything was great and fresh. The steak sandwich was made with a tender ribeye cooked perfect. Have been a few times since the soft opening. Each time has been a great experience with each one leaving with an even bigger smile and fuller stomach. This is the perfect afternoon snack / post golf lunch / dinner / or just a quick drink spot in the area! My personal favorite is the bacon cheeseburger or the hot chicken sandwich. Came in for dinner here and honestly the food was just ok. For the price I was thinking it would be amazing. The server was super friendly and gave us great service the entire time. When it came time for the bill we look and see a boh fee. Never seen this before and even had to look it up. Said it was a service fee to pay back of house to make a better living.. no where on the menu or anywhere did I see I would be paying a fee for this boh which was honestly ridiculous. I'd wish the employees were just paid enough so where the customers weren't forced to pay a fee on top of spending 40-50 dollars per plate. read more

We play golf at discourse weekly And have had many meals at Charlie's restaurant. we were looking forward to the new restaurant, Jimmy's. We'd love to attend happy hours in Sonoma County, calamari, pizzas, onion rings, etc. We were so disappointed when we got to Jimmy's and found out that they did not offer any happy hour food, only discounts on drinks. We left the restaurant to return to one of our other happy hour restaurants That would serve food. We can't judge the food, but we did find that some of the food might be a little bit overpriced for the location. I have a feeling that you might not see much of the golf crowd there. Our server Layla was very apologetic and nice so we can't say anything about the service or the food since we did not eat there. read more

We had our company Christmas party in their banquet hall this year and could not be happier with that choice. The service was excellent, the food really good, and the owner was personable and able to offer different options and accommodate our budget. The banquet hall itself was perfect for our needs with an attached patio space we made use of, a projector and a speaker. They had a Christmas tree set up to help with the vibe. Can't wait to come back with friends for lunch with a view! read more
