We are big fans of the Hole in the Wall/Brothers Cafe spots, so we're excited to try their latest spot. Simmons Diner is located in a great spot for them - near the high traffic intersection of Mission and Hwy 12. The diner is cozy, with local original art. It is the same great menu, and they serve brunch/breakfast late. Overall the menu is wide, and they nail the classics. I also feel the pricing is very fair for the quality of the food - a rare thing these days! If you are in the area - or willing to travel a little for some exceedingly well executed diner/cafe food - they should be at the top of the list! read more

Went here yesterday for a late breakfast with a friend. Coffee was excellent, service was fast and friendly, space was nice and clean (albeit a bit dark) and pricing was reasonable. The breakfast sandwich and country potatoes were excellent as were the huevos rancheros with chorizo. I can see why it is so popular. Restroom was also nice and clean and well maintained. read more

We were a party of 4 having lunch today and had an overall great experience. Service was prompt, friendly and on point by checking in with us at the appropriate times during our meal. I got the T-Bone Steak Special. My steak was cooked as requested and was seasoned very well resulting in no need to add A-1 sauce. The other members of our party all enjoyed their meal selections. The restaurant has an interesting set up with two different entrances and a large bar in the middle where most of the restaurant activity takes place. I just heard that the owners of Hole in the Wall and Brothers Café opened a third restaurant in east Santa Rosa so we had to give them a try. Same menu, nice staff, wholesome food. We decided on the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was on their Daily Specials menu. It came with a choice of salad, fries or soup. My husband enjoyed the bleu cheese dressing on this sandwich a lot. It's a large sandwich on a big french roll. The fries came hot and well-seasoned. I ordered the grilled turkey, bacon, avocado and swiss on sliced sourdough. I loved the pickles they added to this sandwich. I chose a side salad with Ranch and the greens came already tossed in the dressing. People sitting near us ordered a peach cobbler a la mode. Too bad we were so full. Next time! Overall, this location is a bit of a drive for us but we wanted to support them and check out this new eatery. Newly opened January 2026. We wish them much success and lots of happy regular diners. Located across the street from the Union Hotel off of hwy 12 and behind McDonald's. Plenty of parking available. read more

We had to trek up to Santa Rosa from Marin to pick up an errant hat, so we decided to see what's new on the breakfast scene there. I'm glad we stumbled upon this diner on our search. You'll have to look carefully, there's really no signage yet other than the name on the doors. The menu is great, four pages of breakfast, brunch, and lunch offerings that were all really mouthwatering. I opted for the special, which was their challah french toast, eggs, potatoes, and choice of meat (bacon of course). A real bargain these days at $15. My dad had the lox omelet, and my wife had the Mardi Gras crepe (sausage, veggies, tomatoes, yum), appropriate since tomorrow's Fat Tuesday. The service was great! I was surprised at how fast our food came up, and it was all delicious. I literally cleaned my plates as did the rest of us. Wait staff was diligent about coffee and soda refills, and the place was hopping by the time we left at 10am. Really nice to see them doing well. We'll be back soon - now that I know how to find them! Shout out to the potatoes - both the fries and the home fries were superb. read more

Sonoma Diner is a new addition to our neighborhood, so my wife and I decided to check it out We arrived at 11:00 and found the dining room to have several open tables. We chose a high table opposite the bar/counter area. We were served coffee water within minutes and had our menus in hand. The offerings are plentiful and appear to include a wide range of food options. If you're in the mood for breakfast, lunch or dinner you will not have any problem finding a tasty option. On this day, I went with the chilaquiles. I have to say, they were delicious and extra points for being hot and crispy. They are served with a verde (green) sauce that is spicy, yet still flavorful. It comes with an egg thats cooked to order, I went with "over-medium" which the kitchen nailed. The only suggestion I would make is if they offered a meat option (chicken, steak chorizo etc), this would have sent this dis over the top. The service was excellent, with constant refills of our coffee and water. Also extra credit for having plenty of condiments at each table. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was nice. The price was right. But think twice about ordering breakfast for dinner. We ate at 6 PM. My eggs were perfectly poached-bravo! But the bacon was a limp, the home fries weren't fresh and the poor biscuit was very dry. Seems like everything but the eggs were probably prepared earlier in the day and reheated. We stopped by this location on Mothers Day morning. To my surprise the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were seated immediately by one of the employees. The restaurant itself is an older restaurant and has a decent amount of seating. Our server was very nice and took our order immediately. I got the French toast, all the items came out quickly. Overall everyone at the table agreed that the food was just okay. My bacon was not very hot and I had ordered soft scrambled eggs and they were well done. I will say that they have good service, the employees are constantly checking in to make sure nothing else is needed at the table, which I appreciate. read more

Delicious food and solid service. This is one of a trio of restaurants in Sonoma county and they certainly know what they're doing. I enjoyed a delicious scramble with fresh avocado. The fam and I just stopped by here for breakfast and it was pretty good. I got the huevos rancheros with steak and it was delish! The steak and eggs were cooked so well. The only complaint I have is the tostada was overcooked so it was hard to cut. Service was good they didn't give us water though. we had to ask for it which was weird. They played Hispanic music but don't let that fool you because their menu has a LOT of variety which is good. It's a cute little bar set up but has big tables as well as 2 tops. read more

We decided to try out the new Sonoma diner! Sadly, we didn't have the best meal. But first, the highlights: - The staff were all very kind! Service was prompt and very nice. We saw them chatting with what appeared to be regulars - which was great! They also appeared very accomodating. They often asked how we were (but not how the food was). - The restaurant itself is very welcoming and clean as well. - We had the bison burger - it was quite good! - Onion Rings were the star of the show! Yum. The lowlights: - The menu was overwhelming, with a list of specials on a separate menu. - Fish Taco special was not good. I know the fish was fried, but it was also verrry greasy, as was the single tortilla attempting to contain it. Combine that with tartar sauce and slaw (which was good slaw), and it was one note - greasy. As I got to the end of the fish of the first taco, the "fishiness" was so overpowering, I gagged a little. I didn't try the second taco. - The fries were soggy! Perhaps the oil temp wasn't right? Overall it seems like a pleasant place to meet with a group of friends - many there were enjoying all kinds of drinks! I'd just stick to the onion rings! read more

We've eaten here several times since it opened, and the food has always been excellent and the service top notch. Today we hosted a party of 18 people, and everyone loved it. They set us up at one long table, graciously handled separate tabs, brought the food out quickly, and were very attentive with water and tea refills and such. A big group like ours is often difficult for small restaurants to handle, but Sonoma Diner folks are real pros. They now have 16 more new customers! We all had such a good time! read more

We had been wondering about this place, reading reviews, curious about sone of the names of dishes like "Whole in the wall" or "fun guy" as it sounded familiar. Finally we tried them for breakfast! Turns out they are same owners as while in the wall sebastopol and brothers cafe in Cleveland Ave, Santa Rosa. I got the Florentine Benedict and added bacon. It was delicious, with real deal hollandaise sauce, perfectly textured English muffin, poached eggs done just as asked, medium ( I'm picky). On the side we're perfectly crisped home fries that were just plane with no onion or anything. I asked about substitutions and they do not allow it. You can add to your dish, but no subs unlike other places i enjoy. Nevertheless i thoroughly enjoyed my dish. My daughter and grandson each had the French toast special that came with strawberries and REAL maple syrup! (huge bonus, extremely rare to have real maple syrup). Coffee was good. The only complaint is that they use those little throw away creamer containers rather than fill a little refillable cream pitcher for the table. I looked over the menu and it's pretty exciting the i also serve dinner with things like steak with chimchuri sauce or Cajun andouille sausage stew, etc i can't wait to try dinner! read more

Gave it a try for breakfast. Ordered their Dungeness crab Benedict. Generous portion of crab meat, but it was fresh from the fridge cold and piled on top. The hollandaise was ok, and there was a nice layer of avocado underneath. The English muffin wasn't toasted either. Altogether not the best I've had by a long shot. My wife and I were growing tired of the same places on repeat and wanted to find a place that felt like the locals would be the main customers. When Sonoma diner opened up we decided to give them a try, and we were really happy we did! They had a bunch of things you would expect, but quite a few unusual dishes, too. We tried the schnitzel special and the borscht. Both were yummy with just the right amount of savory flavor in them. We don't have many spots like this in Rincon Valley, so we plan to come back often. The only problem with this place was not enough people seem to know about it! read more
