I specifically reserved an outdoor table for brunch, but upon arrival, I was told they had no outside table available. Hostess said it was first come, first serve seating. I told her that their website did not state that but rather had asked for reservations for different specific seating areas. She apologized and said, "Yeah, unfortunately, that's true." We were seated indoors. It was super noisy. But, eventually, we were allowed to move to an outdoor table. It was a lovely setting. The food, however, arrived cold and had to be sent back to reheat. Stopped by here on a girls trip to Sonoma for brunch (it was 9 am, but still). The restaurant is a bit hard to locate because there's not a lot of signage - it's in the winery itself, just off the side road. Good views, good decor, good vibes. Seating area is pretty small and intimate but didn't feel too loud. The food fell short for me. I got the macro bowl because I was drawn to the roasted yams and beets. I was expecting freshly roasted, warm, crispy yams, but they tasted more like refrigerated, next-day yams. I liked the diversity of the ingredients (beans, yams, beets, pickled onions, hummus, etc.) but they didn't mix very well together. I'd go for the reuben sandwich next time. The shoestring fries were awesome. Coffee was meh. Tasted pretty weak. Unlimited refills. On the plus side, they started our meal with complimentary, fresh scones with jam and butter. The service was very good, including the maître d Bobby, who was friendly and came back to check on us. The French dip came out hot with tender roast beef on a crispy Costeaux roll. The au jus was decent, just had an interesting seasoning we could not put our finger on. Shoestring fries were fresh and crisp, but salty. Flourless chocolate tart with caramel sauce and whipped cream was excellent. Nice space but the curve of the chair back made you lean uncomfortably forward. We had breakfast here and the food and service was outstanding! My wife had the country breakfast and I had the short stack of pancakes. After we were served our coffee we received a small, delicious blueberry scone (compliments of the chef). We were served our meals quickly and efficiently. The food was presented fresh, hot and looked great. The country breakfast was awesome! Eggs cooked perfectly and the potatoes nice and crispy. The pancakes were large and they were very light and fluffy. Pancakes included warm maple syrup and warmed fresh blueberry sauce. We will definitely be back to have another delicious meal. read more

Delicious food in a very serene setting. Four of us ate brunch in their outdoor patio facing their fountain. It was beautiful and very pleasant. We all enjoyed our meal which started off with yummy complimentary scones for each of us. I had a great Bloody Mary with pickled veggies and bacon. I loved their Pacific Eggs Benedict made with smoked salmon and spinach. The Hollandaise was lemony with the perfect consistency. I requested it over gluten free bread instead of the English muffins. My husband thought their Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo was really good and our friends enjoyed the Steak and Eggs as well as Avocado Toast with a side of bacon and poached egg. The service was friendly and attentive enough. When we left, the host or manager went out of his way and came outside to thank us as we were making our way to the car. Had lunch outside. What a beautiful setting for a relaxed lunch. Cobb Salad was delicious and beautifully presented. The chopped Romaine hearts were crispy and perfect with just the right amount of dressing. Came here recently for lunch after a spa treatment. Note to interested diners: this is a place where you should definitely eat outdoors. They have a very inviting patio with beautiful views of the Vintners Inn property. But on this particular day, it was over 100 degrees, so my friend and I chose to eat indoors. The interior is perfectly fine. You kind of feel like you're at a Palm Springs resort/convalescent home. But once you get past that, you're in for a very satisfying breakfast or lunch. Lots of enticing menu options (huevos rancheros, avocado toasts, burgers, salads, fish tacos, etc.). My friend ordered the burger with fries, and I got the fish tacos. The food was fine. It's not gonna win any Michelin stars, but it was definitely satiating. I think if I came back, I would want to try one of their breakfast offerings (like the Benedict). They also serve beer, wine, and cocktails. I ordered their spicy pineapple margarita. It was fine. Again, nothing to write home about... but it still hit the spot, especially on a hot Santa Rosa day. All in all, I think the River Vine Cafe is a nice, mellow place to take your parents for a weekend brunch. read more

Ate lunch here the week oh March 6th 2023. Located in the Vintners Resort. Didn't see much of the interior of the restaurant so can not really comment. Staff was polite. Parking easy. The food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Angus Beef Burger, asked for it medium. The burger came out well done and dry. I didn't have time to send it back. Brought friends from out of state hoping this would be a rememberable meal. It was rememberable but for all the wrong reasons. As each guest said "I've had better". This was our third and probably last visit, and it is entirely due to the acoustics. The food and service were fine, but the space was so noisy that the three of us literally couldn't hear each other over the din - and the restaurant was only half full! We skipped dessert, got our food boxed, and left early. My ears were ringing for a good 15 minutes later. The restaurant needs to put in baffling and some soft materials to lower the decibels. I went to River Vine Cafe for lunch today with a group of eight friends. I ordered the crab cakes from the regular menu, not the appetizer section, highly recommended by others on yelp. The cost was $16. Not sure what I expected exactly, but what I received was a very small plate with two, 3 in. x 1/2in. crab cakes, very salty, in what appeared to be a French dressing, and about a 1/4 cup of a salad made of frisson lettuce (my least favorite). No bread, nothing else in the 'salad', none of the items delicious. I did ask for bread which it took a lot of time for them to deliver. The 4 toasted pieces of sourdough bread were delicious. The 3 of us who had ordered the crab cakes scarfed it up in moments. Thanks that we were not charged for the bread. Wow? What are the chefs thinking? Why so much added salt? Why such small portions? The crab cakes would have been a great appetizer, especially if priced a little lower. It was not an acceptable regular menu item. Our service was also quite poor. It took a long time to order, to receive our items, to have things cleared, etc. We had to get up and ask for our checks and get up again to ask for someone to process them. Maybe it was just a bad day at the River Vine Cafe, part of Vintner's Inn and The John Ash Winery--both great venues. The host/hostess station warmly greets you and shows you to your table. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. Went for lunch today with two girlfriends. One ordered the whole leaf Caesar salad with chicken. She really enjoyed it. My other friend and I ordered their 'House Cured and Smoked Corned Beef Ruben Sandwich'. For me this is a mixed bag. While my friend enjoyed the sandwich I had issues. First, I was wanting a good corned beef sandwich. I inquired about the leanness of the meat and was told it was fairly lean. Second, it's not what I would call corned beef at all. It's more a smoked brisket sandwich a la Rueben sandwich style. I understand about not using nitrates in the curing process but without it it lacked the distinctive corned beef flavor and of course the meat was brown not pink. The meat was also a little too chewy and fatty for my taste. The marble rye bread is delicious - I've bought this a number of times at the Village Bakery. Problem here is it's a hot sandwich cut in half. When you lay one half sandwich down flat on the plate and the other half on top of it, the bread on the bottom of both halves gets REALLY soggy, unappetizing, and hard to eat. I only ate half the sandwich as I was starving and did not care for it at all. The zucchini pickled chips were wonderful, my favorite part of the meal and the French fries were perfect. Very clear that fresh food and quality ingredients are a high priority here. Why 4 Stars - ambiance, service, waitstaff attitude, my friends enjoyed their meal, I enjoyed some of it. Lovely Sunday breakfast. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. The service prompt and the servers were professional and courteous. We had the corn beef hash and shrimp and grits. Both we great. They did not skimp on the corn beef in the hash. The pieces were bite sized and were not dry or chewy. I was unable to finish the shrimp and grits. It was just spicy enough. This little spot was settled in a beautiful location. Like said in previous reviews, the cafe is connected to the Inn. Ordered the special which was the Dungeness crab eggs Benedict ($21). Lots of crab meat, everything done well. Quite yummy. Came with a side of crispy potatoes. Also ordered the French toast, which the kitchen let me order from the breakfast menu even though it was almost 11:30 and breakfast ends at 11. So that was nice :) it was good, soft and covered with some strawberries and blueberries. Definitely could have used more syrup (I could have asked but I was lazy). I feel like the soft bread they used could have been soaked a little longer because the inside still seemed too much like normal soft bread. Also ordered a side of crispy potatoes-- these little potatoes are tasty! They use those little mini potatoes so they still have the peel on it and it's fried so they get nice and crispy. A little heavy on the seasoning but still good. Overall pretty yummy. The place is cute and the property is very beautiful and romantic. Our favorite brunch spot in the area. From the friendly greeting from Bobby at the door, the whole experience is first rate. The food is exceptional. They start you with a delicious scone with butter and jam. We love the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Rocky Chicken Sandwich and the house made Corned Beef Reuben. In addition to great food, the service keeps us coming back. The staff is very friendly and professional at the same time. The place runs very well. And more good news, it's a great value. I enjoyed River Vine Cafe today with a friend for lunch. All of the employees were completely courteous, outgoing and friendly. We ordered marinated olives to enjoy before our meal and they were delicious, though those are hard to mess up. What really stood out, were their fish tacos! I fancy myself a bit of a fish taco connoisseur and these were some of the best I have had. The tortilla was perfect, and strong enough to hold together with just one, and the fish was SO fresh. Low key located in a beautiful winery / hotel at John Ash. Me and my family went in for breakfast on a sunday morning. I ordered the blueberry short stack pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon. The pancakes were outstanding. So fluffy and very tasty. The eggs were cooked just the way I liked it and the bacons were crunchy. The coffee they serve was great as well. It was so good that I got highly caffeinated and was hyperactive all day. I think I had 5 cups of it. Anyway , I'd highly recommend going to this cafe. You will not regret it. When you're done eating you can walk around the winery and enjoy the wonderful scenery they have. read more

James made sure we were taken care of to a high standard (which is unfortunately hard to find in most breakfast places). He was attentive, funny, and gave us great recommendations. 10 out of 10 would recommend again and again for the service alone. Also... eat the damn beignets. Holy cow. This venue is associated with the Inn/Hotel that shares the same property. Usually, unless I'm staying at the hotel, I'm not interested in that kind of restaurant. This place is the exception to the rule. We sat outside and the grounds are absolutely lovely, exceptional actually. We arrived on a weekday just after they stopped serving breakfast. The in between hour and random weekday meant we had the place to ourselves for quite a bit. Our salads were fresh and well balanced, the chicken sandwich was reported to me as flavorful but a little oily & messy. Blame the pesto. Service was prompt.
