My husband and I arrived at River West Resort on 8/30/24. There was no one to greet us at the park. I have to get out and go into the office. I met the office person and she checked us in and drew us the map on where our spot was. It was spot # 8. My husband backed into the spot where he straddled the concrete pad. The pad was not big enough for the trailer tires to be on. The septic connection was uphill, which is unusual as it should be downhill. The water pressure was low as well. This certain spot was not shaded although there are matured trees in the park. This spot backed the Truckee River which was nice for the dog. read more

This is a great place to park your RV for a day or a week or longer. So close to down town and ease to get to the Casinos. Owner of on site for both the Rv's and little houses that they rent. Very helpful with any thing you need during your stay. a very well operated and managed campground. We stayed a week and loved it. Only place to day if your are planning on camping in Reno. 5 Star and loved the location, the staff, and relaxing time sitting along the river. owner is very accommodating with any requests. would highly recommend this camp ground. read more

We have stayed in Reno several times with our trailer. This was the second time that we stayed at River West for the Memorial Day AAU basketball tournament. You can see my Google review below but the fact that they remembered us from last year was so neat. Dale made sure we had all that we needed and even helped us at the end of our stay by letting us pick up the trailer after our last game on Monday. 5 stars isn't even enough to communicate that if you are traveling with your trailer or rv, you are missing out if you do not stay at River West. I can't say strongly enough how impressed we were with their property. It was a beautiful, quiet area with nice sites and great amenities. The bathroom were clean. They had large laundry facilities. They are located in a wonderful area with a grocery store, mini marts, food establishments, trails, and an incredible park within walking distance. Finally, the staff was very kind, friendly, and helpful before, during, and after our stay. Great park! Very clean. I was concerned the river may attract people experiencing homelessness, but it was not an issue. (Not asking for any judgements here, this is MY opinion). Reservation was easy to make. Prompt return call and friendly manager on duty. We liked the small downtown location near the Truckee River. Nice public sitting area over looking the river available to relax and enjoy. Restrooms were clean and adequate. No amenities at the campsite. Outdoor table w/ benches would have been nice but we only stayed two nights so we were fine. Would definitely stay here again. Easy pull through location. Most spaces looked like permanent residents with about 15 open slots for those in transit. read more

We had an excellent stay at River West for 6 nights December 26-January 1 to visit family in the area. We had spot 9 overlooking the Truckee River. The spot was perfect for the opposing slides on our TT. There are full timers here. Everything is very clean! Dale was waiting for us to arrive and had our welcome packet ready. He even offered to help guide us backing in. The WiFi worked well, enclosed trash and individual recycling cans. We would recommend this resort to stay at. read more

We just completed a month's long stay at River West while in Reno welcoming our newest grandchild! It was just what we needed and more! When we arrived they had just completed a beautiful patio overlooking the river with string lights. They are currently working on developing the common area above the river with fire pits and seating areas which will be wonderful for the Spring/Summer season. The staff are friendly and attentive. When we had a problem with our sewer connection it was handled immediately. Everything is kept clean and beautifu! The bath house is very nice...updated and inviting as is the laundry room. The river access area was great for taking our dog out, and there is even overhead lighting to make it nice at night for walking and seeing the river. The park is centrally located in Reno. A short walk or bike ride through the neighborhood takes you to the river walk to get downtown and beyond. Across the river is a beautiful park and trail for walking or biking along the river. We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this charming resort. We were there for a celebration of life event and so were feeling quite sad on our arrival from California. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the wonderful Carrie and her team and given a tour of the property. We were pretty awestruck by the property itself, the grounds, the wonderful upkeep and the overall positive energy felt in general. The old "main house" which is used for bridal group preparations was appointed and decorated just so beautifully and tastefully. We were assigned to "Ruby", one of the tiny houses. We were amazed to find everything we could have hoped for - new, clean and not lacking for anything with a bedroom, mini kitchen and living room and a small deck overlooking the property. The event itself was held in the event center and again, Carrie and her team did an outstanding job and made for an amazing evening at a very sad time. I would highly recommend the River West Resort and look forward to our next visit to Reno. read more

Was lied to from the begaining to get me to pay for a month and a half to hold a spot inside the park by the river. When i got there it was a side street outside the rv park with a telephone pole in the way and cars parked along both sides of the street and it was completely impossible to back over the 8 inch curb without hitting another auto or the pole. i was using my F350 Long Bed Dually Deisel Pushing my 35 ft travel trailer. try backing in bewteen 2 rows of cars. the easiest part was the curb. Complete B.....S..... I had to file Fraud which my crdit card backed me up with. Horrible place worse people read more

Don't let the name fool you. We chose this RV park to stay for 4 nights because it said "Resort" and said it accommodates Big Rigs. Upon arrival the after hours gentleman came and showed us to our spot. Huge overgrown trees scratched our new motorhome all down the side as we pulled in - while he watched. We told him that if we had known the trees were not trimmed up that we would have not stayed there. He just walked away. A couple days later we had to get our ladder out and prune the branches up so that when we left it didn't scrape it the rest of the way out. This is nothing more than an old RV park and no maintenance being done to the trees. Also spot was gravel/mud. read more

We stopped just for a night on our way through town, and we wish we could have stayed longer! The night manager, Dale, met us right at the entrance, guided us in, gave us back-up directions, and even directions to a great restaurant! The site we had next to the river was beautiful, the resort was clean and quiet, and the other residents were all so friendly! The bathroom and shower facilities were large and spotless. We would definitely stay here again when traveling through Reno. read more

This was a perfect place to stay for the night on our way through Reno. We pulled in during the evening, a gentleman named Dale came out as soon as we pulled in the entrance and greeted us, personally walked us to our site and made sure everything was in place for us. He did the same for my parents who came in 30 minutes behind us. It was mostly permanent sites, however the park was extremely clean, the atmosphere was peaceful, no noise. The hookups appeared to have been recently upgraded. In the morning Dale came back out as we were leaving, he made sure our stay went well and he had a genuine interest in where we had been, where we were headed, how our trip had been so far. I enjoyed staying there, we camped in a 35ft fifth wheel and were able to leave our truck connected for the night. read more

We enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and peaceful and the laundry and bathrooms were conveniently located in the center of the park. We had a little trouble finding the office because we drove into the park (to get out of the road) before discovering the little tiny gray house up front was the office. They could use more signs in the back of the building and on the side to let you know the office is actually by the road in the front of that little house. My two comments that were a little bit negative would be, it took me four times calling this place before anyone would answer. The second part was that for a 34 foot rig and full-size truck, we were a bit squeezed in and yet there were other spaces available. Other than that I'd give it five stars, six if I could. We look forward to coming back here next time. read more

The park is well maintained and clean. However dogs are not allowed on the grass areas and there is no designated dog run for them. The spots are very small; you can't extended the awning, no picnic table provided or room to set one up to sit outside. The spots are leveled with pea gravel which is too easily tracked into the camper. It was a safe place to stay but was not enjoyable. read more

I had the opportunity to visit this wonderful park today to look at an RV. I am rating it 5 stars not because it has high-end amenities or atmosphere, but because of the staff we met and the many spaces we saw driving around. I see a lot of RV parks as a volunteer and based on my experience, River West Resort is heads above most - an oasis in the city. As I understand it, this park is under new management. They are working hard to keep this a nice place to stay and it shows. I can't attest to the noise at night, but it was certainly quiet and peaceful during our visit. The entire resort is shaded by mature, well maintained trees and I saw many spaces in the process of being re-juvanated and up-graded. It appears that there are also some park model RV's and tiny homes moving in. Easy access off the 80 freeway really makes it worth considering for travelers. Overnighters are welcome here! The staff we met were amazing and answered all of our questions. Very friendly! I am sure they care about their guests and residents just from the encounters I saw. They are pet friendly BUT do have some breed restrictions due to insurance. No big surprise there. Call ahead if you have questions about your dog. River West also has a grassy area near the water where pets and people can enjoy themselves. Perhaps the previous yelper didn't see that? Ok. Someone mentioned "druggies" in a previous review and Reno certainly has it's fair share. What city doesn't? I didn't see any "miscredants" lurking around during my visit (although they seem to come out when the sun goes down). There are resident managers in the park with their contact information clearly posted in large letters on the outside of the office for use after hours if you have a problem. 0Folks, stop by and have a look-see for yourself if you are headed to Reno. They have all sizes of spaces, so call ahead and make sure they have one open that will fit your RV. I would stay here, no problem, based on my visit today. Staff was excellent, campgrounds was clean, however, it is tight & made up of more full timers. Our site was so tight we had to position just right to put sides out between trees, no table or place to put one or sit outside. Very tight leaving with all the full timers trucks & narrow road. You will hear airport, train, & I-80 but not enough to keep you awake. Good location for visiting Virginia City, Carson City, or a drive around Lake Tahoe. read more

The night camp host Dale was assertively helpful, informative, and basically a nice guy. Really made the overnight memorable. The park is an older one with many long term residents, and has carved out some space for "overnighters" that are mostly easy-in/easy-out with some planning and help. The location right on the Truckee River can't be beat, as well as its proximity (but not in) the town of Reno. The "overnighter" sites really aren't made for big rigs, although Dale let us squeeze in without requiring us to unhitch. The sites are simple gravel with older hook-ups only (no pad, table, fire pit). The bathrooms/showers, while older, had been recently remodeled and showed some thoughtful touches, in addition to being very clean. We like to patronize parks like this, not corporate owned and clearly thoughtful works-in- progress. No one held a gun to our head, and we needed this location based on our itinerary, but the price of over $80 seemed about $30-$40 too much. Might stay again, though, for one of the three sites right on the river bank and to see Dale again. read more

Giving this place 5 stars. Mainly because the staff was so nice. We arrived an hour early. Check in is at 1. Our site was not ready yet but they found a place to put us until it was. There was coffee and water in the office. You can walk to the river to check it out. Only issue was I was not sure where to sit and relax. I didn't want to take a residents chair and I wasn't sure if the table and chairs were for RV guests or permanent residents. Also, the dog area was not well labeled. I felt bad when our puppies used the potty on the grass..... not sure if it was "allowed". But all in all it was a great experience. The site is close enough to down town. We got to experience a little bit of Reno on our stay. We were just passing through making our way back home to Arkansas. While your here check out the Patagonia outlet and the river!! The front office also has several great ideas for your trip into town! read more

Practices discriminatory housing practices!!! Beware! I was approved for a spot and sent in pics of my RV and went to the site to check in and pay and was given all the codes and a mailbox and Wi-Fi password etc. I was given the official rules and other relevant documents pertaining to living there, I then went outside to call my dad and in the 8 mins I was gone the owner showed up and when I came back in. She told the girl helping me to terminate my application and for the next 20 mins she danced in circles trying to come up with some reason this was normal and justified when she knew it wasn't. She even said she was hoping to get my check in all taken care of before the owner showed up. Why would that be the case? Because she knows they are racist? This was blatant profiling and discrimination and anyone who doesn't agree with those practices should stay clear of this place! read more

These people are awesome! Thru an unfortunate turn of events we were advised to move out or our house ASAP. A local licensed contractor did a sub par job (that is putting it nicely) of removing our 1965 acoustic ceiling and contaminated our house with asbestos. So with less than 24 hours notice we moved a rental travel trailer onto a space at River West Resort and out of our house. The folks at River West were very compassionate, understanding, accommodating and just great to work with under the circumstances. We would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a beautiful, quite place to spend some time. They have made tons of improvements and have more on the way and we are looking forward to seeing this lovely place when they are done with it. No doubt it will be 5 stars when they are done with it. read more

This is no resort! It's a really old park in a really shitty part of Reno. Makes you feel like you are living in a 3rd world country. Alot of long term residents that leave barking dogs locked in their trailers. If theft, homelessnes, drug addicts, and daily problems with other tenants are your thing it's a great place to stay. read more

Lovely stay at River West Aug-Sep 2023 over four days. We booked the Tanzanite cottage which was very clean and well furnished. On the spacious deck is nice patio furniture and a large propane fire pit. However, there was no table either inside or outside for meals or to play cards with friends. Understandable inside since floor space is limited, but the outside deck is more than adequate for a simple four-chair all-weather table. The unit appears to be new construction with modern and tasteful amenities including very good appliances but one oddity - the upstairs bedroom has a ceiling only about three and a half foot high. Access is primarily through an outside circular staircase or a very tight and somewhat hazardous stairway. I felt like a munchkin crawling on my hands and knees to get into the bed. The bed was comfortable and there was a small nightstand and two-drawer dresser. Otherwise the unit was very attractive and I would recommend. The park itself is situated next to a fast-moving stream where it is very pleasant to sit by and relax. Wi-fi is available but weak signal and occasionally went down. Management is very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again. read more

We stayed in the Ruby cottage for 2 nights: August 5th and 6th 2022. These were my observations: The A/C unit in the bedroom made a high -pitched sound that could be very disturbing for someone that needs quiet to sleep (luckily for us, we always bring a small box fan when we travel and it usually blocks out most other noises). The A/C unit also had glow in the dark controls so if you have to have darkness, you may want to bring something to place over them (maybe painters' tape that wouldn't leave residue). It worked as a night light for me to get up at night w/out bumping into things. The bedroom did NOT have black-out curtains on all the windows so be prepared for that. Since we were visiting family, we were getting up early any way so it wasn't a bother for us, but you may want to sleep in late. If you are like us and keep your phone/tablet/laptop charged by the bed, be aware that there is only 1 electrical plug by the bed and both the nightstand lamps are plugged into it. To plug in your electronics, you will either need to unplug the lamp or have a plug extender with you. The unit did have an iron and ironing board, but no hangers in the closet. So, even if you took the time to iron your clothes there would be no way to hang them up afterwards. I just draped my shirt over the back of the chair. The room did have a nice small refrigerator, microwave and 2-4 of most dishes. They included coffee and had a 1- person coffee maker. There were paper towels under the sink along with soap to wash your dishes if used. There is no freezer or cooktop, so if you want to cook, you will have to stay with things that do not need to be frozen and can be microwaved or not cooked. The contract states only 2 people in the cottages overnight. If you are renting a cottage for a destination wedding or other event and you have a small child or maybe even a teenager, you could speak to management about that. The beds are very comfortable and king size. A small child could possibly sleep with parents. Depending on the age/size, there is room in the living room for a sleeping bag. The couch is NOT big enough for someone to sleep on (this is for the Ruby, not sure about other cottages). The bathroom was well designed and had PLENTY of storage space, extra toilet paper and a hair dryer and 2 of each: Bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth. These gemstone cottages are gated in and separate from the RV living of the park. Other reviews have mentioned the area of town, the homeless population the RV areas etc.... Our observation was: Yes, the park is in the older part of town and you may see the homeless. Yes, this park had full time RV people living there. Basically, you will see homeless pretty much everywhere now adays, and if these people are using this park as their permanent residence, they are more likely to keep watch over their homes then someone just passing through. Hopefully this doesn't stop you from giving this place a try. We weren't disappointed. The parking was a little cramped, but that's ok, at least it was free. Lots of hotels are now charging for parking. The park has a 10pm noise curfew. On the Friday we stayed, we didn't hear anything, it was wonderfully quiet. On the Saturday, there was noise until about 11. This park is also by the train tracks. My husband was worried that the trains would keep us up, but with our fan on, we never heard a train in the bedroom (well, at least I didn't). OH! And CLEAN!! This park must have the best cleaning service ever. Everything was so nice. Overall, I would suggest this to anyone thinking about giving it a try. read more

We arrived and were greeted by the owner, Kari, and front desk staff, Jesse. Clearly, these folks are on the ball (I'm a business owner, too) and their customer skills are top notch. They've taken over this business a few years back and have made significant upgrades. The check in process was impeccable, seamless and very high tech with card swipe and digital receipts. The check in office is clean, organized and well-run. The park is on the Truckee River with a beautiful river access area. The park is well-maintained and has lots of full-timers that clearly keep their areas neat and clean as well as short-term stay areas that are also neat and clean and shady. Easy access to and from 80 and lots of restaurants, shops and more. I would recommend this lovely place to others. Wifi is amazing, FYI. read more
