It shocks me how many ugly reviews are on here. This is quite frankly the best RV Park in or near Reno area. The views are amazing! Makes it feel like you are in a mountainous area and it's right next to the Truckee River! The sites are a good distance from the next, compared to other parks. There are plenty bathrooms/showers that are cleaned daily. The staff is always nice and willing to help! It's right next to a casino so it's easy to get away for a bit whether you are going up with your spouse to play a little on the machines or to take the kids to the arcade. The only downfall I would say is the laundry facility is not open 24/7 or open late. Other than that, this is a great place to be.

Arrived at 1:33 to check in. Told right off the bat that we need to pay a $15 charge to check in before 2pm. That's a first. They had many, many spots wide open at that time with very little occupancy but that's their policy. This is unusual. Other parks welcome you a bit early without issue if there are available spots. We always stop here when in Reno and it's not because it's a great place but because it's familiar. I assure you this nickel and dime BS will cause me to look elsewhere for accommodations next time. Positives: this KOA is right off the freeway, next to a big casino, gas station, Cabelas, a diner and it's quiet. They have laundry and showers. Negatives: The pool closes at 7:45pm. Terrible Wi-Fi. Worst internet reception in this area. We have the Verizon network and all bars show for cell service but no internet through network on cell phones. Don't forget that they have an early check-in fee if you arrive anytime before 2pm.

Update! This dump charges $76.33 per night. What a Flippin ripoff! Warning! Do not stay in this place! It's a trailer park. A messy and trashy place. There are at least 100 messy fulltimers here. This KOA doesn't give a hoot at how bad this place looks. They only want your money. Don't stay here.

We have always had a good experience here. Our last visit in August was the worst space and the worst customer service in almost 20 years of staying there. We paid extra to be in a premium spot. That spot had a pallet of papers in the way. Asked daily to have it moved. Took 4 days to be moved. The spot was constantly flooded and basically unusable. I asked to be compensated for the cost of a regular site and a premium since we couldn't use it. Basically for a 5 nite stay, they credited me $40. Serious decisions on if we want to ever go back.

. This was by far the best KOA we have stayed at. The location is fantastic, offering easy access to both the vibrant city of Reno and the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. But the best part of our stay was the amazing staff. Their friendliness and attentiveness made us feel truly welcome and taken care of. The facilities are top-notch, with spacious RV sites, well-equipped tent sites, and clean restrooms. The heated swimming pool, hot tub, and fitness center added a touch of luxury to our stay. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, from the playground and game room for the kids to the nearby Boomtown Casino Hotel for adults. Overall, Boomtown KOA provided a wonderful blend of relaxation and adventure, making our camping experience truly memorable. We can't recommend this place enough and look forward to our next visit!

We passed through Reno on our way back from a long trip and stayed at Boomtown KOA on August 6-7 in pull-thru, FHU site D106. Check-in was easy, the front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. At check-in the staff gave us free drink coupons for the adults and free fun center coupons for the kids at Boomtown. The interior roads are nice and wide. The site was asphalt with a grass area that had a picnic table on it. The site was dramatically not level for being asphalt. Bring a lot of levelers. The cable was good and WiFi was good enough to stream movies. AT&T cell service was good. The bathrooms/ showers are very clean, modern and spacious. The hours are limited and the 24 hour restrooms STILL aren't open. The staff failed to tell us that the lawn is watered at night. We returned from dinner on a Saturday night to find our camp chairs soaked from the sprinkler system and a swamp of water where the grass was. It's pretty messed up that the KOA would water the campsite grass on the busiest evening of the weekend without warning anyone to move their stuff. We stayed at Boomtown KOA since there were no other quality FHU sites available at other RV parks in the area. In a pinch, we would stay here again.

Prior reviews made me wonder if this place was gonna be a dump but I was honestly pleasantly surprised. Perhaps mostly because the outer area has been developed now it gives it a nice neighborhood feel which is what I was worried about. Would definitely stay here again if ever in Reno. I was pleasantly surprised by the pool and even got in with my kids.

BEWARE... if you have a germs phobia. The worst KOA I've ever been to by far. The facilities where so filthy. This is during the COVID-19 epidemic. The cashier was kind though. We made reservations online and told them we would be there after 9. They sent us a confirmation but did not send us the key code for the bathrooms/showers. Very frustrating. After a long drive we definitely needed to use the restroom as our teardrop trailer/ camper doesn't have one. There are a few nice camp sites, maybe 10 out of around a hundred. Ours wasn't one of them. We always try to stay at KOA campgrounds because they are usually so clean and well kept, not the case here. There are no tent sites just campers and trailers. I hope this helps.

It's not bad but the campground backs up to new construction. The bathrooms were locked and I almost crapped my pants. Nice.

If you want Wi Fi, this isn't the place. Nice enough park, dog friendly but pretty busy. Close enough to Reno for Costco and such.

No bathroom or shower from 7pm to 8am. Really? They blame it on Covid, but it is just plain laziness not to keep it open 24 hours.

I tried to book online but it wouldn't let me so I called the number and spoke to a very pleasant woman who took my reservation over the phone and even offered me a first responder discount! Upon arrival, they were set up for after hours check in and very organized and timely. Chris, the security officer guided us right to our site and was very pleasant. Our site was a premium river side set up that did not disappoint! We backed up to the river with lush trees and greenery all around. There's a beautiful patio with chairs, tables and Edison string lights overlooking the river where we would sip our drinks after a long day of traveling and watch the geese and ducks in the river. There's also a couple of benches and fire pits established for campers to use. There are long term residents throughout the park, and some sites are pretty close together so we were very lucky to have gotten a premium, roomy luxurious site at last minute. We definitely recommend paying the little extra for a river front site. Site 11 & 12 are the best! PS: the staff is very responsive to texts and questions and they were a delight!

There weren't any issues with any homeless people by the river (we never even seen any homeless people at the river like other comments we read). It's located near grocery stores, gas stations, and fast food places. We're definitely coming back again.

It appeared as if a rock from their drainage culvert was dropped onto my trailer and bounced up damaging the gel coat. The rock was still sitting on the trailer and another under the boat. Not a big deal. As a small business owner, I understand that things happen that are out of your control. We called out a fiberglass repairman. The quote was $700. My immediate thought was that they should repair it, no?!? After going some rounds with Hudson (one of the owners), I offered to cover the cost of the repair, keep it off of our insurance and trade a couple months of storage in return. I was told that not only did they not agree to that, but I had 30 days to get my camper and boat out of their facility (during the winter). I removed my camper that night and returned in the AM to remove my boat. My renewal is due in three days, I'm sure that they'll charge me. If they do not, I'll update this review. Anyway, beware as always. Things were great until they weren't. I didn't expect pushback on such a minor repair from a facility with literally millions of $$'s worth of vehicles stored there. Edit: I am a man of my word. Hudson is not going to charge me for next month as I am currently moved out. I have added back a star, but the issue is unresolved. I am still on the hook to repair my boat and spent hours relocating after putting my boat away already once for winter. Regardless, if there were a resolution or not, my confidence in this business is lost.

The decor is nothing to write home about. It's exactly what you'd expect from a casino diner. Simple, a little dated, but comfortable enough if you're just there to eat and catch up. Where they really stood out was the service. The waitresses were quick, attentive, and genuinely nice, which made the whole experience better right away. The menu is your standard diner lineup. Breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and a few dinner options. I ordered the turkey melt, and my friend went with the NY steak. We also added chips and salsa on the side. The chips and salsa were just okay. Not bad, but definitely not worth $7.99 in my opinion. I'd skip that next time. My turkey melt was pretty solid. They didn't skimp on the turkey, which I appreciated. It was a little on the salty side, but still a good sandwich overall. My friend said her steak was good, and it definitely looked it. Portions are generous across the board too. The scoop of mashed potatoes that came with it was huge. While we were there, the table across from us ordered the prime rib. I didn't even see it on the menu, so I'm guessing it was a special. When it came out, it looked incredible. They said it was 12 oz, but honestly it looked way bigger than that. Definitely something I'd come back to try. Overall, it's a solid, no-frills diner with good prices, big portions, and great service. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.
