From the moment we arrived to dump the RV, shower, and do laundry, we were genuinely impressed by how spotless everything was and how well-maintained the entire facility is. What really made the experience exceptional was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff--especially Malen, who went out of his way to help us and made everything smooth and easy. Been coming to this KOA for a couple of years now. It offers a clean, safe environment at super reasonable prices. Spots at this time of year are $35 plus tax if yo want to back in, or pay a bit more if you have a larger rig and want a pull through spot. Verdi is up and coming with new housing developments popping up around the mountains. OMG high dessert life? Oh yes indeed! Been here for a few days roaming around. First time here. The RV park selection around the Reno Nevada area is not great. We chose here because we have been around this area before and it is very nice. They put us in a pull through site that was one of the unlevel front to back sites I've ever stayed in with 40 years of RVing experience. I heard someone talking so loud across from me I thought there was an argument happening. Then I realized that row, and all the rows past it are people who live there full time which was obvious by all the crap around their rigs. And that explains the pot smell all the time. I'm angry because the first rows coming into the park would be away from that but they put me here. Luckily we are visiting family and won't be there except to sleep. Would I come here again? Yes because there aren't many other options in the Reno area. But I would demand a site closer to the front away from the full timers. read more

Yes great views and right next to Boomtown casino, gas station. Not so good if van or camper truck. There are only two bathrooms/showers when office is closed and there are locked from 2200-0600. Not so good if your rig does not have a built in restroom. They need more restrooms when the office is closed. I waited for 20 minutes while people took showers this morning. Also looks like some long term residents do collect a bit of odds and ends making their spots look trashy. And the trash bins are so full they are overflowing. Ok for a night or two. It shocks me how many ugly reviews are on here. This is quite frankly the best RV Park in or near Reno area. The views are amazing! Makes it feel like you are in a mountainous area and it's right next to the Truckee River! The sites are a good distance from the next, compared to other parks. There are plenty bathrooms/showers that are cleaned daily. The staff is always nice and willing to help! It's right next to a casino so it's easy to get away for a bit whether you are going up with your spouse to play a little on the machines or to take the kids to the arcade. The only downfall I would say is the laundry facility is not open 24/7 or open late. Other than that, this is a great place to be. read more

Arrived at 1:33 to check in. Told right off the bat that we need to pay a $15 charge to check in before 2pm. That's a first. They had many, many spots wide open at that time with very little occupancy but that's their policy. This is unusual. Other parks welcome you a bit early without issue if there are available spots. We always stop here when in Reno and it's not because it's a great place but because it's familiar. I assure you this nickel and dime BS will cause me to look elsewhere for accommodations next time. Positives: this KOA is right off the freeway, next to a big casino, gas station, Cabelas, a diner and it's quiet. They have laundry and showers. Negatives: The pool closes at 7:45pm. Terrible Wi-Fi. Worst internet reception in this area. We have the Verizon network and all bars show for cell service but no internet through network on cell phones. Don't forget that they have an early check-in fee if you arrive anytime before 2pm. read more

I ended up not even spending the night and getting a room at the silver legacy casino and parking my camper van in the oversized lot there. I want my money back for this. . This was by far the best KOA we have stayed at. The location is fantastic, offering easy access to both the vibrant city of Reno and the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. But the best part of our stay was the amazing staff. Their friendliness and attentiveness made us feel truly welcome and taken care of. The facilities are top-notch, with spacious RV sites, well-equipped tent sites, and clean restrooms. The heated swimming pool, hot tub, and fitness center added a touch of luxury to our stay. There were plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, from the playground and game room for the kids to the nearby Boomtown Casino Hotel for adults. Overall, Boomtown KOA provided a wonderful blend of relaxation and adventure, making our camping experience truly memorable. We have always had a good experience here. Our last visit in August was the worst space and the worst customer service in almost 20 years of staying there. We paid extra to be in a premium spot. That spot had a pallet of papers in the way. Asked daily to have it moved. Took 4 days to be moved. The spot was constantly flooded and basically unusable. I asked to be compensated for the cost of a regular site and a premium since we couldn't use it. Basically for a 5 nite stay, they credited me $40. We passed through Reno on our way back from a long trip and stayed at Boomtown KOA on August 6-7 in pull-thru, FHU site D106. Check-in was easy, the front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. At check-in the staff gave us free drink coupons for the adults and free fun center coupons for the kids at Boomtown. The interior roads are nice and wide. The site was asphalt with a grass area that had a picnic table on it. The site was dramatically not level for being asphalt. Bring a lot of levelers. The cable was good and WiFi was good enough to stream movies. AT&T cell service was good. The bathrooms/ showers are very clean, modern and spacious. The hours are limited and the 24 hour restrooms STILL aren't open. The staff failed to tell us that the lawn is watered at night. We returned from dinner on a Saturday night to find our camp chairs soaked from the sprinkler system and a swamp of water where the grass was. It's pretty messed up that the KOA would water the campsite grass on the busiest evening of the weekend without warning anyone to move their stuff. We stayed at Boomtown KOA since there were no other quality FHU sites available at other RV parks in the area. In a pinch, we would stay here again. read more

The RV park is located as you drive into the Reno area from CA 80 or as you are leaving and headed out so it's a convenient location. They have shuttle service to the Boomtown Casino and the new Grillhouse restaurant nearby. The pool was nice and the staff was very helpful. read more

They get 2 stars because the pool was nice. My site was gravel, backed up against a fence. The photo on the KOA website showed it being asphalt with some grass. There was 5" of pinecones piled up against the fence, which I had to walk through to hook up my water, electric, and sewer. Also, the sewer access was elevated, so when I did my black tank dump, I had to lift the pipe up many times, to make sure everything was getting into the sewer. Wifi was a joke!!! Not able to watch my smart TV without tethering through my cellphone. Next time I need to stay in the Reno area, I will definitely use the Good Sam website to find a campsite. read more

BEWARE... if you have a germs phobia. The worst KOA I've ever been to by far. The facilities where so filthy. This is during the COVID-19 epidemic. The cashier was kind though. We made reservations online and told them we would be there after 9. They sent us a confirmation but did not send us the key code for the bathrooms/showers. Very frustrating. After a long drive we definitely needed to use the restroom as our teardrop trailer/ camper doesn't have one. There are a few nice camp sites, maybe 10 out of around a hundred. Ours wasn't one of them. We always try to stay at KOA campgrounds because they are usually so clean and well kept, not the case here. There are no tent sites just campers and trailers. 1st off staff was excellent. But there's always a but.. this KOA allows rv's returning from burning man to use multiple spots throughout the campground for a "dump" and wash station. I had at least 30 rv's pull through the spot next to us. Mind you the dump was approximately 4 feet from our picnic table. Multiple people have never dumped an rv before in their life. Pretty entertaining for sure. The burning man people washed their vehicles which left a dirt and clay everywhere. They also let a full service of a diesel pusher be done on the other side of our trailer. They worked on the rv all day including oil change, batteries etc. super loud air compressor. They spilled oil everywhere which they tried to clean up however it left a Hugh mess. I definitely will not be staying here anytime during burning man. Lots of people living full time in campground. read more

Camp site was easy to locate and a convenience for those hitting the Boomtown casino. Shuttle is available, but also walking isn't bad idea either. Check in was quick, but too quick for my taste. Not much of an introduction on details where things were located. Because we made two separate reservations due to the fact we have decided to extend our stay, we were set for two different lots. Front desk could not get it corrected during registration, but Tracy corrected the situation the next morning. Thank you Tracy. Wi-Fi exists, but could not connect. My guess is that depending on the lot you are in, you may or may not able to connect. This KOA is fairly big and I think Wi-Fi is not thoroughly covered. The lack of Wi-Fi did not bother me at all, but could not see myself working remotely out of this KOA if I had to. Lot borders can be a bit confusing as they aren't as spacious and not clearly marked. Your vehicle parking is within the same border where your neighbor's pedestal is located. Kind of strange, but we've managed to figure it out. I can understand how some visitors may get frustrated over the showers and restrooms. From my understanding, there are more showers and restrooms available during business hours. Thankfully we didn't have to use them as our RV was fully equipped. This is not a place for those who rely on them. Although the lots are close together, we had great neighbors going about their business. Never have seen dogs running around off leash, but then again we could of been very fortunate not to come across it. Overall, I enjoyed our stay. read more

The entire campground is on a flat slope!!! I've never seen such a thing. Bring leveling blocks!!! Every rig has blocks under the wheels on one side. This place is kinda dirty and icky. Your picnic table (on a patch of brown grass the size of an area rug) is right on the sewer dump of your neighbor. We had a full size pull through. BARELY enough room to slide out on one side and not step in the sewer hookup by your front door. OK, it was just for one night but it was gross. We will never come back. read more

What a mistake! They're website says wifi, cable, shuttle to the casino up the hill and what did we get? Nothing. Nada, zilch No shuttle, wifi didn't work, no cable, and they placed us in a space that was 100% asphalt and dirt next to some seedy full Time older RVs while plenty of nice spaces were sitting empty. Pool was closed too even though it said it opens on memorial weekend. Literally I've stayed in nicer parking lots then here. On a positive note the showers were clean and nice but that's it. If I, or my family could give KOA Boomtown West of Reno less than 1 star, done. I am a Native Nevadan. I have never known such price gouging by a single company than KOA. My parent's have been staying here for several months until my step dad retires. The approximate so called, month to month can be just over $1,000 a month. In the last week, KOA Reno gouged my parent's more than half of the above cost. The way KOA treats Native Nevadans is insidious, horrible and down right greeeeeedy. My parents are NOT rich. My mom, retired make far less than the KOA rent SSI. Bottom line, there are no excuses for this. This o called business and owners like this should be run the SHIT!! out of my state. The showers smell horrible. The WIFI is HORRIBLE. The owners must be social justice cult warriors. MSDNC, CNN must be their coven. read more

These idiots only have 2 showers and bathroom combos. I guess it matters to them for some reason when people are showering so they have the shower only open for 2 hours in the morning and 4 in the evening but don't bother to tell you that at all. So when you walk to the bathroom at 1005 when you get in and it's locked you have to drive to a gas station to use the restroom. It's a campground!!!! People might need the restroom 24 hours of the day you morons. Limit shower times or put showers and toilets separate. You have a code on the door. These are paying customers needing a restroom and you are being moronic bathrooms nazis. read more

My friends and I will never go here again after this last visit. We arrived around 7pm after driving for 13 hours and I was told my rv and trailer were too long and they couldn't accommodate us. My reservation was canceled on the spot. The two other trailers that were with me asked for their money back so we could go find another place to camp. My rv is 39' and my trailer is 20' but I can disconnect just like a truck and fifth wheel trailer would but he said no it doesn't work that way. Every other KOA I've been to has allowed me to drop my trailer in the overflow parking or an empty space but not this place. The park was only half full and we were only staying for the night. This guy was rude and just a total jerk. I will stay in a parking lot before I ever stay here again. read more

Stayed here for a month during my wife's cancer treatment in Reno. Staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Although the "campground" is mostly a parking lot and spaces are close together, it is very quiet at night. Sometimes you can hear the traffic from I-80 or the occasional train passing by. Lots of full timers who tend to have a little too much of their stuff outside and little regard for other people's sites (cutting through sites, dogs barking, etc.) Overall, a good place to stay. read more

HORRIBLE!!! They closed the bathrooms at 7:15pm, and don't open them till 8am. They claim it's due "covid protocols," but that is a load of garbage. They told me I had to take my children to the casino to use the bathroom, but neglected to mention there's NO ACCESS to the casino from the campground. My daughter had to s*** in a plastic bag. Other KOAs in Nevada have basic amenities. This is a stupid political stunt. Absolutely the worst campground we've been to, and we've camped our way across the country and back. We will never return, and I warn anyone who needs the very basics--especially those with children--to stay away at all costs. read more
