We recently had Silicon Valley Hardwood Floors install some water proof vinyl flooring for our kitchen, downstairs bathroom, laundry room and entryway. Tony Saavedra made some great suggestions on the type of flooring would be best. He was able to get all the materials quickly. His crew of two removed the tile in the hallway and prepped the floors for new install. They were very neat and cleaned up everyday even vacuumed the outside area where they cut the panels! Unfortunately my experience as not as excellent as the other Yelpers. Although he an expert in hardwood floors. He is quite knowledgeable about his products and how to install the hardwood floors. He let us check out two samples without a deposit unlike other vendors. However, scheduling a time to come out to the property and receiving the quote took longer than desired. Overall his quote was on average with other several other quotes but we decided not to go with Tony because he could not break down the cost of the hardwood material and labor. read more

Talk about professional! My experience with Tony and his crew was wonderful. My fiance and I purchased a new home and we wanted to seal the hardwood floors. I called Tony on a Friday morning. That afternoon he came out and quoted the floors. We really wanted to move in ASAP and Tony made it happen. He had his men show up at 8am sharp Saturday morning and again bright and early for a second coat on Sunday. Tony and his crew do amazing work. They are professional hardwood floor experts. We had an old carpet and underlayment removed in the upstairs of our home. In addition to being neat and courteous, they took the time to prepare the subfloor by adding screws, and then they sanded the plywood seams throughout the entire space. They also then took their time laying out the first few courses to be sure the transitions around my staircase blended with the rest of the room. The floor is tight, quiet, and looks amazing. This review is little late, but we had a really amazing experience with Tony and Silicon Valley Hardwood Flooring. We bought a house in Morgan Hill at the beginning of last summer that needed literally everything done to it. We were dealing with literally dozens of contractors from a bunch of different specialties to try and get our house into good enough condition so that we could move in. We interviewed anywhere from 4 to 6 contractors for each type of job. As is typical we had a lot of really tough experiences with contractors. There were of course many who never returned our calls, there were many who came out to see the house and then ended up flaking. We even had a few who we eventually hired and then ended up doing a very mediocre job. Tony and Silicon Valley hardwood floors was the bright spot in our remodel. From the first meeting his honesty and character was readily apparent. When I am looking for a contractor I am looking for someone who is responsive, knowledgeable, easy to work with, responsible, honest, and finally very good at their job. Tony was the only contractor, we worked with who fit every piece of this criteria. Not only was he reasonably priced, he was a really terrific person to work with and our floors are still our favorite part of the house. So many of the other contractors we worked with made small mistakes, or left somethings only partially done to where I had to bring them back out to fix or finish the job. Not Tony. Everything was perfect from the moment he said the job was done. Not only that, but he was the only contractor who finished exactly when he said he would. As with any project there were a couple of small issues that came up that Tony advised us through. We took his advice on every item and couldn't be happier. In my everyday job I do business with a lot of contractors and to earn a review from me a contractor has to be top notch. Tony was everything we could ask for. I cannot believe I forgot to write this review when Tony did our floors in November! I want to give them like 20 more stars. Here are the highlights: -Quality: Our floors are gorgeous. Gorgeous. -Value: Tony was honest with us from the get go about the pros and cons of our various choices. He was not pushy, but he was incredibly responsive and up front. The cost was totally reasonable, and our floors came out WAY better than I could have ever imagined. -Respect: Tony and his crew were SO respectful. Frequently during our researching prior to choosing a flooring company, I would be ignored while salesmen catered to my husband. Tony treated us both as equals. AND they were respectful of our time and our family situation. Tony worked around our baby's naptime and his crew powered through until well after dark to finish WAY ahead of schedule, so that we were only out of the house for a minimal amount of time. -Customer Service: After the floors were installed, I noted a cosmetic issue that I wanted changed. I emailed Tony at around 3pm. The workers were at my home by 9am the following morning to make the changes, without a charge. Tony took the time to walk me through how to care for our floors, gave us cleaning samples, and invited us to call with any questions. In short, I cannot be more enthusiastic about my recommendation! Wow. Tony just finished repairing and refinishing the hardwood floor in our kitchen after a dishwasher leak buckled about 100 square feet of floor. I was impressed with Tony and his workers. He came out promptly for his estimate. He was competitive. He was knowledgeable and in fact taught my wife and I a lot about maintaining our floors in the future. I have never dealt with a contractor that left his work site as clean as Tony and his men did. Despite using a circular saw to cut out the old floor (read sawdust), they left nothing for us to clean. Then, after sanding the complete kitchen floor down, again, nothing for us to clean. They took care of the worksite (our house). Each night after the workers were gone he called to check that everything was okay with us. His communication throughout the job was tremendous. The work was also first rate. The floor actually looks better than it did when we moved in 15 years ago. I found Tony here on Yelp and the reviews were not wrong. He does a great job. read more

When the company was late for the third time I began my search and found SVHF. Thank you to the "other company" for not showing. I should send flowers. Silicon Valley Hardwood Floors recently installed solid ¾-inch Brazilian cherry flooring throughout our 1700-square foot, 30-year-old townhouse (less the bathrooms). They completed the work in 5 days with outstanding results: the floors look exquisite, even on the closest inspection. Before they began the installation, they removed all loose nails and other detritus from the subfloor, screwed it to the floor joists, and sanded it, creating a smooth, squeak-free surface for the new flooring. The workmen, all professionals with many years of experience, were efficient and courteous, and they consistently cleaned up after themselves. The owner of the company, Tony Saavedra, was on the scene at least once, and often many times, a day, assuring that the work was progressing satisfactorily, making helpful suggestions, and answering questions.
