I have switched to this vet around 2019 and every time we go we always have had a different vet and they were all so lovely and the people at check in. recently my senior dog has had eye issues this one doctor (dr.cambell) stepped up and has made sure we were with him every time and not a different doctor to make sure the progress was checked by him. my dog had a bad day and he was willing to take her within an hour at a different location that he was working at just to make sure she was alright. this is the best vet and has the kindest workers. they also will call after appointments to check in just to make sure everything is alright. 100/10 recommend to everyone read more

Incredible experience at our first visit! I felt heard, not rushed. But they were fast and efficient. the staff and dr were incredibly friendly and kind. they were also very transparent about costs. My dog is very scared and reactive at the vets office. They not only handled him without having to put him under sedation, but at the end of 4 vaccines, an anal gland drain, ears check and full exam he Actually looked happy And still allowed the vet in his personal space!! About the worse you can think of. We are now switching to a different vet since this is our second dog that has rotting teeth. Needless to say we have yearly check ups and on not one but two dogs they missed rotting teeth! They check them out under 5 minutes- full check up! And change a arm and a leg. We have been really happy with the care our animals have received from Riverlin. Our elderly cat Bella started going to Riverlin in 2021. She received great care for a condition that was chronic for a few months. When she developed cancer, she received excellent end-of-life care. After she died, the vets sent us a sympathy card that all the employees personally signed. They took care of sending her remains to a crematory, and they provided us with paw and nose prints. After the compassionate treatment Bella received (and their kind regard for our family), we knew we'd take our new kittens to Riverlin. One of our kittens had her first appointment today. We could not be happier with Riverlin. We love all the vets we have seen, the staff is courteous and helpful. Our family vet of 15 years retired, a vet we adored who helped us to put our family lab whom he had cared for his entire life down with the most compassion and care humanly possible. When we finally felt ready to add another dog to our family, we reached out to him for a recommendation and he quickly referred us to Riverlin, stating that it is where he would take his own pets. Since establishing a relationship with Riverlin we have since added a second dog to our family and both of our boys LOVE going here. Even through Covid, the staff has always been compassionate, communicative, and we feel informed and partnered in making decisions for our boys with the vets. At this point I believe we have seen every vet at the clinic and they are all so good with our giant breed dogs. Whether it's for their annual care, or issues that have presented themselves that as a paranoid Momma have me taking them in just in case - I have found these vets do not push unnecessary testing or medication, always give us options and talk through pros and cons, and put the welfare of our pets first. This place is absolutely wonderful. My money is tight and i needed to get my cat checked out because he was acting strangely and like he was having some mouth pain. I was told about Riverlin from a friend, so i called and they got me an appointment right away the next morning. They were able to identify the issue quickly.,and saw that something was lodged in the back of his mouth behnd his teeth They quoted me the price for oral surgery and anasthesia, and said before going that route they would see if it was possible to just get it out. I feel anyone else would have just charged me for the oral surgery, so i greatly appreciated their effort to try and help without it. While I was worrying about my little buddy and frantically asking a friend to borrow money, they came out and told me he was all set. He had somehow swallowed a small sewing needle and by some miracle it got stuck in his mouth in a position that did not even cut his mouth, just caused some irritation. I was not only extremely relieved and felt so gratefulthat he was ok, but the bill for removing the object was a small fraction of what I would have paid for oral surgery. Also ,the exam itself was free and every new patient gets their first exam free - which is another great upside to this place. I was horrified with the way Dr. Knapp euthanized my dog. The vet gave no explanation of what she was doing.The vet swung her arm over him and jabbed him with the sedative, instead of asking me to move so she could get to his rear. Then she tried to inject the back leg with final shot and tried six times befor I finally said STOP! I could see his eyes pleading with me to make it stop. I told her to use the front leg. Which she got on the first try. Then her and the tech were saying Oh, he's such a good dog over and over. They didn't even know him. I just wanted compassion and dignity for his final moments and this was anything but. It was upsetting to me hearing them yak while they should have been informative and QUIET while my dog was passing. The images are stuck in my head. This vet needs some compassion training. read more

It's April 2021 and it took 6 weeks to get a kennel cough appointment and now two days to get a sick dog appointment even though I told them my dog was in pain with a leg sprain. They also refused to give him a pain med while we waited the two days for the appointment. I understand the pandemic caused a backlog of appointments and I was ok with the 6 week vaccination but not a two day wait when the animal is uncomfortable and they knew it. read more

My 17-year-old cat, who'd obviously been dealing with health issues for some time, suddenly took a major turn for the worse Monday night/Tuesday morning, before I was prepared for the situation. I first called Tufts, who would've charged me $160 for the office visit alone, not to mention whatever lifesaving or other measures had to be taken with him. After Googling nearby veterinarians, I found Riverlin. I knew nothing about them other than that their website seemed to indicate an utter lack of pretension on their part. Inasmuch as you can tell from the other side of the screen, the business seemed to be staffed by kind, authentic people. So I took a chance and called. The woman who answered was indeed both kind and professional, and I briefly explained the situation. She took my information and said she'd fit me in and that they waive the $54 exam fee for an initial visit, so that I would just be paying the $25 emergency visit fee, plus whatever else I chose to do. I arrived within an hour of calling and was seen relatively promptly, first by Kelley and then by Liz. They were gentle with my cat, who was in a lot of pain, and gentle with me as well, explaining my options and truly giving me all the time and space I needed to make an utterly non-pressured decision. Liz wrote up an itemized, priced list of available treatment options, ranging from minimum to maximum, and telling me what would be absolutely necessary, were I to go that route, and what could possibly be helpful but wasn't in the "absolutely necessary" category. I went back and forth for a while but in the end, chose to euthanize him. I stayed there with him while they injected him, and then they wrapped him up for me so I could bury him at home. I was not charged for the euthanasia, and today, three days later, received a very thoughtful note in the mail from them. This is above and beyond what I expected from people just meeting me and my cat for the first time. They were so sensitive and respectful throughout, and this extra step of sending out a card has really touched me. read more

In honor of World Pet Memorial Day: Many of you know that ARK assists owners who need or want to re-home their dog. It's an important part of our rescue efforts. In just a few days, with the help of another rescue (www.facebook.com/waitinganimals/) we found an emergency foster for a six-year old dog named STELLA, a Doggo Argentina who was no longer wanted by the only family she ever knew. This isn't a Happy Tails story, but it's important to report what happened to this dog. Stella was purchased as a pup from a breeder. She was kid-friendly and dog-friendly by all accounts. Two weeks ago she tried to join her 13-year old human brother in a recliner. The boy tried getting her off, but after reaching down to pull her away, Stella nipped him on the face. It was not serious. No medical care was required. Six years, one incident, and this "family" decided to simply give her away. The next "family" had little experience with dogs and did everything wrong from Day 1. They provided no transition so Stella could adjust to new surroundings and people. She had free roam of the house and slept on their bed. No boundaries, no common sense. Stella did her best though she'd been completely uprooted from everything she knew. She befriended the kids, and even the resident chihuahua. But when the male human pulled the bed sheets out from under her, she nipped him. Again, no major injury, no medical care required. Stella gave a warning that she was not comfortable with what he did. As a result, family #2 took her to the vet to be euthanized. At first the vet realized this was wrong and refused. He contacted one of our rescue partners who said they would try to help, but understandably they needed a little time. Family #2 took her back home but at this point Stella was growling, a sure sign of stress that this family misunderstood. The solution was to keep her on the porch. The first rescue contacted several other rescues including ARK. We asked family #1 to take her back temporarily while we tried to find placement. They refused. We asked family #2 to hang on...just a little longer...we've got leads... and guess what? In just a few days, we found placement! We were thrilled. We called family #2 with the news, but were astounded to learn the male human was driving home after just dropping off Stella at the vet (for a second time) to be euthanized. He suggested we call the vet because he had just left. We did. We informed receptionist #1 that we needed to speak to the vet immediately because we found placement for the dog that was just dropped off. We were put on hold and then told to call back as the vet was seeing appointments. Well we did call back and spoke to receptionist #2. We repeated the same information and put on hold again. This person came back on the phone to say the vet would try to call back later that day, and if not he'd call on Monday. Wait, what!?! That would be Memorial Day and surely the vet wouldn't board her on a holiday weekend. We pushed because this made no sense. We don't understand? You have a dog there and we are ready to come and get her. It makes no sense that the vet is not responding to this urgency. The person said we were being rude, and hung up on us. At that point, it was clear that Stella was dead already (which we later confirmed). We don't get to personally meet most of the dogs we help, but we get emotionally attached. Each and every time something like this happens it hurts a whole lot and the ignorance that results in such needless euthanasia infuriates us. We rarely name names. That's our general rule, but not this time. After waiting a week to hear back in hopes of having a discussion about what happened, we are now compelled to be Stella's voice and share her story. We hope it will give Jason Campbell pause the next time he's faced with this dilemma. As the owner and veterinarian at Riverlin Animal Hospital in Millbury, MA he initiated a call to a rescue to save Stella. This was a matter of a few days between the first vet visit when he refused to put Stella down and the second when he did. In total irony, the doctor's website has some lofty statements. One reads in part: "We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care and health-related educational opportunities for our clients. Riverlin Animal Hospital strives to offer excellence in veterinary care..." Another reads, "Your pet is unique. No two animals are the same and in medicine, one size does not fit all...we look forward to building a partnership with you to ensure your four-legged family members enjoy the health and happiness they deserve. What happened to your commitment to Stella? Did she not warrant a partnership for responsible pet ownership? Was she not unique? Did she not deserve to enjoy health and happiness? I LOVE the vets and staff at Riverlin Animal Hospital. I moved to Grafton a couple of years ago. I have 3 young cats and got appointment's for them within the first year of being here. Two of my cats travel well, the 3rd, not so much. After 3 attempts, they suggested a house visit. Sure, it cost a little more, but what are you going to do? Dr Knapp came with a vet tech and they took their time with my very shy, scardy orange boy. They were so good with him - totally worth it's weight in gold. My cats are pretty healthy but when my little Meia started not feeling so good, we got an appt with Dr. Campbell during this Covid crisis. They were awesome. Even though I hate waiting in the car, I know my baby girl was being treated kindly. The doc called me a couple times during the visit to let me know his thoughts and a plan of action. Never once did I feel pressured or pushed. He just laid out all the options and left it to me. Two months later, I'm back with Meia, she's got conjunctivitis. I called today and they squeezed me in today - with Dr. Campbell. The tech came out to get her - you can tell, they all love animals and their job. Again, a call to explain his findings and what he'd like to do (antibiotics and eye drops) and I was done. I expected to be waiting.... but was in/out of there in an hour. I'm so lucky to have Riverlin in my back yard. They really are the best. They have my animals best interest and my trust. read more

always a money grab with them. my dog was seen by a Tufts Animal Hospital Dermatologist (referred by Riverlin) and prescribed Apoquel for the rest of his life due to ongoing allergy problems. I spent almost $1,000 at Tufts on the day of his visit. I'd been bringing my pets to riverlin for 8+ yrs at this point. Tufts performed a physical examination in addition to all the other procedures performed for his skin issues, and prescribed the Apoquel, Tufts then SENT THIS INFO to Riverlin. Riverlin, however, refused to approve a chewy order for Apoquel until THEY saw him. They stated they could not approve HIS PRESCRIBED APOQUEL, in case he got sick...my dog gets sick without his meds...not from them, yet they wouldn't approve because they want to milk me for an exam fee despite his medical records showing he just had one. Their first priority is taking your money, not caring for your pets. Dr. Campbell is a very nice vet but the other vet is judgy and condescending. this vet was fantastic when it first opened but has, unfortunately, gone downhill. read more

The clinic is great is you want only western medical care. They sell the unhealthy prescription diets and do not stray from selling all the vaccines and other medications that can be poison to our pets. My dog had cancer and they insisted that vaccines would be fine and advised me to stop feeding her the organic raw diet she was because of her condition. read more

I love Riverlin Animal Hospital. My cat, Diana Ross, had what was probably cancer and very quickly went downhill. I discovered symptoms and three weeks later, I knew that she was suffering and that her quality of life had declined significantly. I called and they were able to fit me in that very day to put her to sleep. Dr. Connolly and the techs were so gentle with her and were very comforting in a terrible situation. They didn't charge me a dime which made a horrible moment a tiny bit better. A few days later, I received an incredibly thoughtful sympathy card in the mail, signed by the entire staff. i have been very pleased with the services provided by your team until my most recent visit 8/14/2017 i did not have an appointment by i was taken in right away with my god Noel doctor examined her and i did what she asked to do for treatment after not hearing back from her after 7 hours i called and receptionist said for me to come in and pickup meds to give my dog never talked to the doctor again she should have told me to bring my dog right away to Tufts to be admitted for pneumonia Noels condition got worse and i brought her first thing to tufts on tuesday morning she died at10:27 pm on tuesday evening i think this doctor should not be left alone to properly diagnose a patient read more

When you're dealing with a pet that is clearly in serious pain, you feel completely out of control and helpless. When my 4 year old beagle/boxer mix was suffering, I called my regular vet on a Monday morning, and they had no availability until Thursday of that week. Clearly I felt it was an emergency and I could not wait until Thursday and neither could my dog. My vet referred me to Riverlin Animal Hospital in Millbury and called them at 8:15 a.m. on a Monday morning. The tech who answered the phone was so friendly and comforting. I was clearly very upset and worried about my dog and she made sure that he could be seen immediately even though it was a very busy Monday morning for them. I got an appointment at 9 a.m., and Dr Campbell was available to see us. The doctor, along with everybody else clearly love animals and I couldn't have asked for better care for my dog. I left that day with a prescription and a diagnosis, and a great feeling knowing that my dog was taken care of with the highest quality of care. I'm very surprised to find this high quality animal clinic. I went to Route 20 first and was very disappointed by the slow and inaccurate service of the old couple there. They are gonna retire soon, and dnt care much about improve their service. I also called westside animal hospital but they are too proud to accept any new incoming patients. Really odd right? You should listen to their self-conceited tone when they reject you over the phone. I'm super lucky to try this animal clinic. Cute setting, super bright and clean, fast service and basically no waiting. The vets and staff know what they are doing. And all the files are e-documented and easy to store and retrieve, unlike so many clunks at Route 20 (I think they might be hoarders). So far, this is the best service I ever received. We selected Riverlin because few vets in the area take care of rabbits. Riverlin was terrific. The entire staff was involved and caring both times we brought our rabbit in for a visit. When our rabbit needed to be euthanized, we were not charged for the visit and received a very nice hand-written note. We'll certainly be back when our feline family members need care :-) read more
