Laurie ( or Lorie) is our go to Waitress and she is popular with other diners as well. She is attentive and friendly. She is always ready to top off your drink and knows her waitressing !! We have eaten here several times over the last 2 years. It is worth the 50 miles we drive to get there from home. The simple country food is great,,About the best fried chicken I have eaten in my 80 years, and their catfish on Thursdays was best I ever had anywhere. I was in the area and caught them 30 mins before closing. I was appreciative of how kind and welcoming they were when I walked in. There is plenty of space and tables for dining.I ordered the burger and fries. The burger came with onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and banana peppers with your choice of cheddar or provolone cheese. As you can see, I chose cheddar, and I added bacon. The burger had one small strip of bacon, about two small pieces of banana pepper, and about two small round pickles; it was a bit disappointing because they skimped on those toppings for the size of the burger. Overall, the burger was okay. The fries were like crispy fries. I did like that they were hot. I noticed something was on the plate near the fries, so I didn't eat many after that. I honestly was starving, so I was grateful for the little bit I did eat, but yeah, it was not as pleasing as I would have hoped for in a meal here. read more

I only have one question. Who is Bob? There must be a memorial to him in this town. We stopped at Rivers Edge on our way through Cheraw, SC, the birthplace of Dizzy Gillespie. We ordered the daily special, Chicken Pot Pie, and a Deluxe Smoked Turkey & Gouda Sandwich. Both were utterly yummy! The CPP was served with a cloud of Puff Pastry over a delicious chicken and veggies in creamy gravy. The sandwich was tasty, perfectly proportioned. Then we asked for the dessert list. My first visit afterwards was a disappointment because I missed the friendly owners and I ordered one of my favorites (corn casserrole) and it was not good at all. Last week I visited and was disappointed with the service. Obviously they were understaffed and I had to get up and ask for straws, utensils and dressing. We also had to ask the server to bring us our rolls. No one was cleaning off tables so there were dirty dishes all over and they ran out of utensils. But several times I saw kitchen staff members coming out of the kitchen to get drinks, etc. I ordered the country fried steak and it was overcooked and shriveled up. I may not return. read more

This was a great find. I am in town for a motorcycle race over at Morre's Sportsman Preserve. They have a select menu of different items each night. Tonight the Boston Butt and Ribs caught my eye. After I placed my order, somehow they ran out of ribs. They exchanged my ribs for ribeye steak. I was perfectly ok with that. It was delicious and so was the house salad with blue cheese dressing and loaded baked potato. They sat me facing the pie display and bakery items. It was so tempting but I had to pass. My wife and I ate at River's Edge twice this week and we decided it will be a while before we go back. On Monday we at there with a friend and the food was bland and by 12:20 when we were there they were already out of items on the menu. Went back Thursday night around 7:00pm, out of ribs, out of brisket. My wife ordered a bake potato with 2 vegetables. The potato was lukewarm and still rather hard. Her beans were cold. Since they were out of the things I wanted I got a salad with chicken. Barely any chicken. So basically I had a salad. The best part of the meal was dessert - Red Velvet Cake slice. 10 thumbs up to the cake, no thumbs up to the rest of the meal. The cake climbed this review to 2 stars. read more

I asked for cheese, but they missed putting it on. The side I chose was wedding potatoes which is a table spoon size of hash browns kinda disappointing! Also ordered the chicken tenders which were not impressive either. 3 Frozen things deep fried and about 12 French fries. My family and I were in Cheraw for an ancestry trip (turns out G-G-G-Great Gramps helped to build this town). The owner of our B&B recommended we try The River's Edge, as well as almost everyone else we asked. It's in downtown Cheraw, right on 2nd St. We went for dinner on a weeknight and were seated almost immediately. There was a steady stream of customers coming in and everyone was greeted with a smile and a friendly attitude. The food was delicious and you could tell everything was made from scratch. The rolls were buttery, warm, and fresh. I had the Big Sis, which is "Marinated grilled chicken, with bacon, cheddar cheese and chipotle pesto sauce. Topped with a crisp onion ring, on a home-baked croissant." All for under $10! The desserts were varied and delicious. We ordered the carolina cake and white chocolate lime cheesecake. Both were HUGE portions and were the perfect ending to our meal (and a nice breakfast the next morning). And what I think is the coolest part of the restaurant - they sell gorgeous handmade quilts for really affordable prices. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get one! read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way through to Virginia. GREAT country-style cooking! The food, service and staff were all excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly with a 'natural' smile on their face. Rivers Edge is more that just a restaurant, it is also a nice country store offering prepared condiments and beautiful hand-made quilts among other things. And the little downtown area could definitely be the perfect setting for a movie. MAN OH MAN!! I was graciously invited to go to this place form a friend for his birthday. Boy was i in for a treat!! This is a hidden jewel and I hope EVERYONE and their mother gets to know about this place so this place gets business. This is a local joint and I guarantee only locals know about it. We were greeted by these wonderful people and the first thing they brought us were these wonderful buttery rolls. I heard everything was good this menu I ordered their steak. Prices were so reasonable for what you got and the quality of the food. That is one thing that describes this place "QUALITY" my steak was so fresh and all the food was so fresh it looked like everything was grown right outside in the back. They have hand made quilts for sale in the place that are the best pieces of art ever. Now for the FINALE! The desserts.. I can not begin to describe the desserts they have Homemade Oreos, Pumpkins cookies with Bavarian Cream in between them. A Bavarian Chocolate Torte, and the best Strawberry Cake I have ever had in my life. What a great find traveling from North Carolina to Florida! The smoked brisket was very good and the salad bar was fresh and tasty with homemade croutons and delicious pickled beets.
