Their tech's show up to do minimal work and leave you with a massive shocking bill - often without even explaining what you're signing. They count on fear, urgency, and the lack of plumbing knowledge to scam you blind. I'm not just upset. I feel violated and robbed if this happens to someone more vulnerable like an elderly person it would be financial abuse. It's predatory behavior, plain, and simple.

I had leaking faucets in our two bathrooms. Was told there wouldn't really be a way to fix them and that replacement was the only option. Fair enough, they were both pretty old. But then came the quote $2600 was the lowest price for both faucets ranging up to $3800. When my wife said she didn't think that was in our budget we were encouraged to take out a loan to make it work. She said we weren't going to do that and said we would call back later when I got home from work. When I spoke with them they said they may be able to salvage one of the faucets and if so they could get it done that one done for $1100. (I had taken the handles off myself and didn't have the right tools to get to the cartridge that needed to be replaced but the part that needed replacing was less than $10.) I understand paying your people a decent wage but given that I had gotten 90% of the way to repairing it myself within about 30 minutes and the part was about $10 I figure they are charging about $1000 an hour. Which is insane. Well, I decided not to bother trying to fix it and took a day off of work to replace both of them. Spend about $300 and 8 hours of work but replaced all the valves, lines and faucets and saved myself a cool $3500.
