Visited St. Marks with steel horses and was really hungry, we had a choice between cooters and Riverside and opt for Riverside because of the ambiance. It's actually a nice restaurant and gave me that real Florida vibes. Food was great, I had the grouper basket with fries and coleslaw and my friend got the shrimp basket. I understand from the review that it's a bit expensive but I always expect that from a seafood restaurant. Our server was Brittany, she was very attentive and friendly. I took picture, which is okay with her because she said there are 2 Brittany there. Make sure you guys see her. Hard to beat a relaxed and fun joint with good views. Eating under a bungalow just feels right. We've eaten here many times but the food seems to get better each time. Used to go just for drinks and live music, which is worth it. Tonight our server was attentive and personable. Even brought out treats for the kids. Taking orders can be challenging with the live music (not too loud but it's a concert ha). We had the kids fish, kids burger, island burger and I grilled chicken sandwich with island sauce. Tony and I made it to St Mark's, FL today at 12:30 and stopped at Riverside Cafe for lunch. We sat at the tables lining the decking walls. It was very lovely, warm with a breeze and watching boats go by. The birds were watching us waiting for someone anyone to drop something. Tony had a draft beer, I went with Iced Tea half/half w Lemon and Lime. We opted for the Crab Fritters with a chipotle mayo dipping sauce and the River Burger with fries. This is about the eighth time I've visited and it's definitely a place to come to. Drinks are great and food is always fresh. Service is always friendly and the restaurant is full of funny signs that make for great conversations. I love the birds around the establishment and love watching them steal food. We stumbled across this restaurant after initially trying to go to Cooter Stew Cafe (closed). It's right on the water which is awesome. Server was nice and attentive. The food was not bad. We got a bacon cheese burger and the grouper basket with fries. The burger was pretty small, not too flavorful, and came out well done (or may have been previously frozen) when asked for medium. The grouper was very good but also seemed like a very small portion for the price ($14). It looked to be about 8 oz and was $26. Fries were tasty and sweet tea delicious. Ended up being a very expensive lunch and just not really worth the price; however, it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere with nothing else around so I can somewhat see the need to charge more to stay open. read more

We stopped here during a Friday afternoon ride on the St. Mark's River. The restaurant was about half full. Our waitress came to our table quickly and got our drink order. The drinks came out right away. She the. Took our food order and told us her name was Melissa. She was very pleasant. We ordered a grouper sandwich, side salad and fries pickle Spears- all of it was delicious. Melissa worked her butt off attending to all her tables. BUT birds flying around, coming in from the outside deck and boats, walking on tables, flying close to customers, playing on the floor. It's a little overpriced, but I don't mind paying more for the quaint riverside ambience and if the food is better. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It was completely tasteless, thrown together with a couple of dried small shrimps, rice, and pieces of onions and tomatoes in a bland cornstarch broth. At $8 for a cup it was an insult to the senses. The French Fries tasted stale. We threw ours out. The Grouper Sandwich was decent. The best thing we had were the Hushpuppies, but we won't be going back just for those. read more

Went for lunch. Really really fresh shrimp. Very open atmosphere. Wife had the club sandwich that she loved. The birds inside the place, fish and gators in the water kept the kids entertained. I only wish I had taken photos of the food I normally do epic fail but we were so hungry that we dove in without a second thought! Firstly the ambiance is amazing it's on the water it's not a 5 star linen cloth restaurant it's a bar and grill (they do have live music at the weekend) it's family friendly and dog friendly too. I had the crab claws with Cajun seasoning and WOW they were amazingly tasty I had a second batch they were that good!!! Hubby had the crab fritters kind of like hush puppies and they were so yummy! Then he had a grouper sammich and high he really enjoyed! We sat at the bar and the young man's recommendations were spot on and he was very very entertaining we will be back for all the reasons above such a fun spot to go and chill in!!! I reviewed this restaurant on FB, but it was deleted, so I'm forced to peer-review here. This restaurant is a HARD pass. We walked in and seated ourselves in the tiki bar in the smoking section. After retrieving an ashtray and sitting for about 10 min, I found a waitress in another section and asked if we needed to get menus from the bar or from her. She was super nice, letting me know that she would let the server for our section know we had arrived. Our server bebopped over a few seconds later, apologizing for not seeing us and immediately went to retrieve some sweet tea for us, giving us menus. While we waited we noticed the table was a little sticky and brushed it off as a bar table. We did however notice the Crystal Hot Sauce bottle had black mold on the label and on the cap and neck of the bottle. Again we dismissed this as hot, sticky weather and climate.. No place is perfect and it was a bar after all. I'm guessing most of the clientele came here for cocktails, not food. There were about 10 tables in the restaurant, all in various stages of completion. Meaning, some were eating, some were waiting for food and some were just drinking. The noise level wasn't crazy we were attended well by the waitress. We came for oysters. We were told by the waitress that they had some but the staff didn't have time to shuck them and that she would keep checking back with them for us.. The calamari came out and was disappointing. It was a tad underdone and greasy. The breading fell off as you tried to eat it. The peel and eat shrimp were tough and hard to peel due to being overdone. You can't win them all. We asked if a manager was around. She sent a gentleman in his late 30's, early 40's to the table and he explained the kitchen staff were "in the weeds" and couldn't stop long enough to shuck oysters. This was after we had ordered the shrimp and the calamari. We didn't bother telling him about the food we did have. There was really no point. As a 20 year veteran of the kitchens and a chef myself, I was dumbfounded with his answer with the amount of people in there and the various states of each table. There couldn't have been 5 running tickets up. There DEFINITELY weren't 19 tables going with 20 dragging. It was SUNDAY, between 2 and 3pm. We decided to pay the bill and look elsewhere. The waitress was sweet and attentive, got our check quickly and we salvaged the day by going across the street to Cooter Stew Cafe, where we had two of the BEST burgers we've had in forever. Visiting the area for a couple of days last week and Riverside was suggested to us. Went there last Tuesday evening for dinner. It was on the cool side not many people in the place. Our food server was outstanding. Friendly and attentive. Brought over a 20 lb. Propane cylinder for our table heater to keep us war. She helped my wife with a fish selection that was spot on.
