This is definitely a hidden gem and worth the hour trip from Tallahassee. The atmosphere is really nice and the layout is quite unique. Upstairs is the restaurant portion which is divided into two sides and we were on what I like to call the fish bowl side. The view was great, however it got extremely loud at one point given the bowl shaped design. When I went to the opposite side of the restaurant to use the restroom it was much quieter and more modern and sleek. Downstairs was another bar with all types of entertainment including a sand volleyball court, oversized games, darts, pool, and these awesome swings. The food was very delicious and even though it was pricey in my opinion the portions were enormous. I got the blue crab corn bisque which was delightful but I didn't really care for the bread that came with it. I can't even tell you what it was but it was very yellow. My mocktail was great and I loved that they had so many mocktail options. I got the elegant rosemary which was grapefruit juice, rosemary infused honey, and sparking water. One thing that was off was a price discrepancy, my bisque said $11 on the menu but it was $12 on the ticket. I didn't bring it up because I was with a very large party and only a dollar but they need to be more careful and transparent. If the prices have changed the menu needs to be updated. They would've gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for the price discrepancy, I've never experienced that in a restaurant before. read more

Wow, outstanding hidden gem in Panacea! The ambiance is breathtaking - all the way down to the storm cloud lights. The picturesque view of the water is amazing. The food - 5/5!!! We got the stuffed crab balls, portobello sandwich, and chicken bacon ranch sandwich. They were all phenomenal. Our drinks were good. I got the strawberry fields and it just happened to be happy hour which made it $4 off. Service was good as well. No complaints. Below the restaurant is an upbeat bar called low tide and we enjoyed having a beer there after! All in all, it was so good and we will definitely be back! We have been to Trident a half-dozen times, during busy times and not, in the summer and winter. On each visit, the food was DELICIOUS, the service was good, and conversation was IMPOSSIBLE. Due to the acoustics of the dining rooms (both the bar room and the dining room) the noise level is extremely loud. We had Father's Day brunch yesterday, at noon, and we were seated under the hammerhead shark in the dining room. It was not just incredibly loud, it was painfully loud. We witnessed another patron leave his table and return with hearing protection for his daughter. No one was screaming or being out of place, simply loud conversations that seemed to be amplified by the walls and domed ceiling. Noise levels above 85 decibels can be harmful for prolonged periods of time. I feel terrible for the wait staff who have to endure the noise. I used a decibel meter to see if I was overreacting. 93 decibels is equivalent to sitting next to a lawn mower. I wasn't overreacting. I've seen other reviews that complain about the noise. Perhaps management can address this before an employee contacts OSHA. Despite the delicious food and sweet employees, I doubt that we will return, sadly. read more

Great NZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Sitting right on the Gulf near Alligator Point. The red light dot on the map marks the spot. Service was friendly and good. This is a must stop if you are anywhere near the area! A member of our party had been and raved about it so we had to go. It's right on the water and has a great view. We went for brunch and had a hard time choosing just one dish because everything sounded delicious. We started with the stuffed crab balls and cinnamon rolls and both were amazing. They have so much to see and do that it wouldn't be a problem unless of course you have other things to do after your dinner!! Then it becomes irritating!! While we waited we were able to stand outside and watch the birds, fish and boats. The party walked down the pier and we hung out at the end for a while before succumbing to the heat and opting to go inside. Once seated the service and food was excellent. We were there during their "brunch" window so we ate shrimp salads, hot chicken sandwich, beast burgers, chicken sandwich, shrimp and grits and salads. Everyone loved their meal. It's one big, very cool "under the sea" themed room. We had the grouper cheeks as an appetizer (it's an entree), & it was perfect! The cornmeal breading, poblano relish & cheese grits were the best combo with this fish. I got the ahi tuna salad, which was huge! With a large perfectly cooked & seasoned sliced filet of tuna for $17!! That's crazy these days! Hubby got the blackened cobia & loved it. I thought it was a little too spicy, but I don't care for blackened seasoning. We had one of the best creme brûlées we've ever had for dessert!! I only wish we lived closer! Legit can't believe I haven't reviewed Trident yet! We moved to the area in December & this has quickly become a favorite repeat of not just ours but our visitors too. Consider the lack of food pics a testament to how divine the food is as we can never seem to take any before we've already devoured everything! Literally, it's all that good. We haven't had a bad dish here. Our favorites are the crab balls, rowdy shrimp, crab stuffed grouper, lobster ravioli, ribeye, literally everything. I honestly can't say it enough. Everything here is so freaking good. For drinks, our go tos are the walnut old fashioned and the Walnut Block Sauvignon Blanc. They just opened the bar area underneath a week or two ago & can't wait to check that out! read more

We came to dinner the day after thanksgiving and were seated right away. The restaurant is elevated and there are stairs or a long ramp leading to the entrance. We were seated in the dining room as the other room seamed more of the bar room with high-tops. The dinning room chairs were not the best chairs for the prices of on the menu. We ordered a margarita because it was still happy hour, ending at 7PM. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts because they were $2 off, part of happy hour. They were delicious, but had more sauce than I cared for. For dinner, we ordered the grouper with crab ($42). It was delicious and the best I've ever had. I would order this again. The reason for the 4 stars is because of the chairs. The chairs are more for a lower cheap fry fish restaurant which is not what they want to be with the prices and the level of food they serve. Still recommend coming to Trident and trying it out on a date night. read more

Had an old friend visiting from Charleston. He wanted local seafood. Our two go to places are Shell Oyster and Posies. Shell is closed Sunday s so we headed to Panacea. I got the idea that we should give Trident a try as we'd never been and it's close to Poseys. Got there 5:15ish headed up the ramp to the restaurant. Beautiful setting and view of the water. The 3 of us were seated at a window table. Our server delivered water and took our cocktail order - 3 Stella's. We asked for app recommendations - she suggested the crab balls and Brussels sprouts (noting they were 86 on the sprouts). Alternative suggestion was Tuna Poke. We ordered both. The apps arrived quickly. Nice presentation on the crab balls but they were over cooked and really small. The Poke was tasty, but there were some chunks that had sinew in them and some that tasted very fishy. Entrees we ordered were: Fried Carfish w/o Truffle Bechamel, blackened Coboa Tacos and Crab stuffed Grouper.' Tacos were good with a tangy slaw in each taco. Catfish was deliciously breaded with a crunchy, crispy cornmeal. It was sitting atop a gigantic mound of cheese grits. More than a normal appetite could handle. Crab stuffed grouper was atop a gigantic glop of mashed potatoes. Grouper filet enveloping a crab mixture resembling deviled crab. The giant mound was covered with some sort of yellow beige colored thick sauce. It wasn't eye appealing at all. The kitchen should take more pride when plating. We finished our meals, paid the check and headed back toward Lake Talquin. $160 spent. We told our friend about Poseys as we passed by and remarked we should have eaten there. Next time we will - soft shell crabs, fried shrimp and catfish! A much better value. read more

We have gone to The Trident for Thanksgiving many years, and have always been happy with everything. But yesterday I was disappointed with my portion. I had the Pilgrims Platter Combination. I used to get a couple of sizable slices of ham, and a good portion of turkey. Yesterday I had a very thin, small slice of ham. Turkey was ok. But just a spoonful of potatoes and stuffing. My plate had one slice of carrot, my partner had five. He had about ten brussel sprouts, I had three. And maybe a teaspoon of gravy on the bottom. Very disappointing. read more

I loved the ramp up to this little gem. Absolutely incredible views off of their deck that is adorned with a place even to play corn hole with family and friends. My husband and I went tonight to try out this new restaurant. I had looked at the menu beforehand and thought it sounded great. Let me just tell you that it was better than great! Every food item was unique and had the perfect blend of flavors to absolutely amaze your taste buds. We got the tuna poke tower for an appetizer and not only was it presented in a gorgeous way, but every bite was absolute perfection! I got the seafood heaven, which is aptly named, as it truly was heavenly. My husband got the Cobia, and needed to make an adjustment to it for a food allergy, and had no problem doing so. We got the key lime pie for dessert, and that was the creamiest key lime pie I have ever had in my life! The atmosphere and decor are so fun! The pictures I saw didn't do the decor justice. And they have their tables set up brilliantly so that everyone has a view to look out the windows at the perfect, serene scenery. I was really excited to see what the Backwoods folks were gonna do with the old harbor house location and finally made a trip down to see my parents and take them out. Overall it was okay and I will probably try it again later down the road when they are more established. The service was great and the dining room was neat and interesting but very loud/echoey. It is pretty pricey but it's a great location and seafood so that was expected. I tried a couple appetizers and my parents got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the mahi mahi salad. Kids got the chicken sandwich (plain) and chicken tenders. The mahi mahi was under seasoned so it was bland and the breading on the chicken fell off of both sandwiches and the tenders. The crab bisque was good but not as good as at backwoods crossing. The mozz drops were good but I prefer the bigger ones at backwoods and the amount that came on the plate was small for the price, only 6 drops/bites. I tried the lobster cakes (decent and actually too salty) and the scallops (scallops were good but I didn't like the potato purée pairing but they were good separately). Presentation was beautiful! Again, maybe it just needs to work out some kinks and I'll probably try again, maybe I expected more since I like the crossings location and loved the old backwoods location in Tallahassee.
