Fried chicken lunch special
Jennifer S.

The food was excellent. We had the lunch specials with catfish and shrimp, fried chicken and the raw oysters. The hush puppies were tasty. The fried okra was perfect and the sweet tea was delicious and not too sweet. I'm would highly recommend Poseys. Plus the staff is friendly and welcoming. The prices seemed reasonable as we recieved large portions. The place is very unassuming and casual but don't let that fool you. The food was wonderful. They have a back room so don't worry if the front of the restaurant is crowded. They have the space and it's easy to see why folks are coming in again and again

Seafood platter

Ordered the blackened seafood platter and it was outstanding. Shrimp, oysters, scallops, grouper, and devil crab were all perfectly cooked with great flavor and just the right amount of spice. Everything tasted fresh and local, and the portions were generous. Exactly the kind of no-frills, high-quality seafood you hope to find in this part of Florida.

We have passed this restaurant many times and never noticed the RV Parking across the street. We decided to give it a try. It is what I would call your typical FL seafood dive! Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is amazing. I think my shrimp slept in the gulf last night. The catfish was also delicious. Like someone else said you need to try the fried food. The batter is light and tasty. It is very loud in there and most of the tables are for six. It took only 20 mins. from the time we sat down to get our food!! We will be stopping by there again.

Blackened Grouper, scallops & shrimp

We chose Posey's because their prices seemed the most reasonable and they offered the choice of fried, grilled and blackened. We had one landlubber who went with a burger. It was substantial and well dressed, but served well done. Ketchup was required to get the job done. I went with a combo plate. Starting with a side salad that consisted of a little lettuce, a cherry tomato (yes-one), a cucumber slice (yes-1), a few slivers of onion and a few shreds of carrots. Not impressive. My lunch was blackened gulf scallops, shrimp and grouper. The scallops & shrimp were drenched in butter negating the "healthier" alternative to fried. The grouper, however, was superb. I'd order the grouper dinner in a flash. It was that good. The fried shrimp & catfish platter was also quite good. I'd guess that 90% of Posey's meals are fried and accordingly, they've got the fried stuff mastered. I'm not one for grits, but my crew said they were excellent. Service was prompt & attentive. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm a little annoyed I forgot to order Key Lime Pie for desert. After all, when in Rome.... The only negative? It's a dive. Loud. Dirty floors. Filthy bathrooms. Sticky tables. The locals may accept this; but I couldn't get my wife back to Posey's on a dare.

Plus, all the food was so delicious and the drinks were really good too. my mom ended up getting the crabcake Benedict and I tasted it and that was the best thing on the table for sure so if you go for brunch, make sure you get that. Or at least sit next to the person who did order it and have a bite of theirs. The Bacon Mary was really good/thick and it wasn't watery-- I didn't find it very spicy so if you want it spicy though. Great food, great service, and a really cool vibe with all the fish hanging from the ceiling. It was too hot to sit outside, but I'm sure with the right weather that could be nice too. Check it out if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed. (If you're balling on a budget, brunch is more affordable.)

We had a great dinner at Angelo's Seafood Restaurant while vacationing in the Panacea/St. Teresa…read morearea. The location is fantastic... right on the bay with beautiful water views. There's something special about sitting outside, feeling the salt air and breeze, and watching the water while enjoying fresh seafood. In an area where dining options can be a little limited, Angelo's feels like a destination. Our server was wonderful - friendly, attentive, and always checking in without being intrusive. For drinks, I ordered the Panacea Painkiller, and it was excellent. I'm a huge fan of painkillers and this was one of the better ones I've had. The kids all got virgin piña coladas and daiquiris and absolutely loved them. We started with popcorn shrimp which disappeared quickly. The kids all ordered the crab claws from the kids menu. We didn't realize they would come fried, and while that's probably exactly how most people prefer them, our family doesn't eat a lot of fried food, so I personally would have enjoyed them more broiled or steamed. That said, they were very tasty, and the kids loved them - especially one child who acted like it was the greatest thing he'd ever eaten. For my entrée, I ordered the whole char-broiled red snapper and it was absolutely delicious. I'm a sucker for a whole fish and they nailed it. The charred flavor was fantastic, and the lemon butter sauce that came with it was incredible. I'm also glad it wasn't fried, which let the fish really shine. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi and loved it as well. By the end of the meal, we were all completely (overly) stuffed. Overall, the combination of great food, friendly service, and the beautiful waterfront setting made for a memorable dinner. We definitely plan to come back to this area for future vacations, and we'd happily return to Angelo's. Next time, we may ask if the crab claws can be prepared broiled or steamed for the kids, but that's just personal preference. Great seafood, great views, great service. Happy customers.

Strap yourselves in, this is gonna be a long one…read more I was hoping to have a couple end of year reviews that were outstanding, so here goes. We had been camping at Torreya State Park but unfortunately, my ankle wasn't living up to expectations. Rather than put ourselves in a precarious situation, my wife got us reservations in Apalachicola and we drove down. We almost went to a little more upscale place, but as soon as I saw Hole in the Wall seafood, I changed my mind. Yes, it's a hole in the wall, but the best kind. Inviting, homie, Kitchie, and down to earth. The decor consists of hats donated by patrons. There are several wooden tables, including some large ones and a good sized bar. We opted for the bar. Cliff, the owner, is a former molecular biology professor and a fellow Hoosier. We noticed the oysters being shucked and they looked fresh and massive. We started off with a dozen raw oysters, a pound of their Cajun peel and eat boiled shrimp, and two grouper and oyster combo baskets with fries and hush puppies. Everything was outstanding. We ended up getting another dozen oysters. They were plump, sweet, and undeniably fresh. The peel and eat shrimp were amazing. They weren't just the typical throw some old bay on and dump a ton of butter in variety. The flavor was unique and rich. I joked with Cliff that I thought about drinking the juice and he said he had people order bread just to sop it up with. The fried grouper and oysters were outstanding. Big, flaky chunks of grouper, perfectly breaded and fried. The breading was just right. Light and crisp. Not heavy or greasy and the least. Ryan, the young man shucking the oysters, is obviously an expert, and each oyster was perfectly shucked. The beer selection is small, but excellent. I recommend the Oyster City Hooter Brown Ale and the Estrella Jalisco if you're in the mood for something a bit lighter. I can't say enough good things about this place. We'll be back... tomorrow.
