I have been to this Farmer's Market a couple of times, the past 12 months. My goal is to go more often. I like the fresh food and supporting small business. This is a good location. So many great vendors. There is local artist, music, food, things for pets, and more. It is open all year long, just hours of operation slightly change with season. Parking can be challenging, but don't let that scare you away. Carpool, take public transportation , ride a bike, or walk if you live close.

Several performers of live music throughout the venue added to the excellent ambiance of celebrating local talent and producers. A staple farmer's market that can be counted on every weekend! All the vendors were friendly and helpful, answering questions about their wares and offerings and methods for supplying what they do to our community. Locally grown produce, ready-to-eat baked goods, clothing, and wares for the home were all available. Additionally, a bunch of food trucks were in attendance to fuel shoppers with coffee, breakfast, and brunch.

We frequent this farmers market pretty regularly and are always happy with our time. The parking is an absolute nightmare as it usually is for any event in idlewild, so that is definitely something to consider. The amount and variety of vendors is always great. I think they have a great mix of farmers booths, crafts, and food trucks. Hard to not find something you love everytime you come! The vendors will switch out so there is always something new. The Mother's Day market was incredible they really knocked it out of the park. The live music is nice and on days with good weather there is so much grass to pick from to pop a squat and enjoy the day!

Great variety with local vendors that all seem to be happy and glad to do business with us. Everything from fruits and nuts to honey or lunch plus local service pros. Loads of parking, shade, and outdoor activity. Did I mention it is year-round?

FUN! Mother's Day was a total success here, spent far too much and came home with all kinds of snacks and trinkets. Lots of food vendors to choose from, then everything else from clothes to art to dog treats, next time I might go ahead and bring my dog as well. The ambiance in Idlewild park is absolutely fantastic and this was a great way to spend the morning and afternoon. Coffees turned into mimosas.... Mimosas turned into mead and cocktails... The service at every single vendor was absolutely fantastic and selection was great. Can't wait for the next one.

Good vibe but very small farmers market. Reminds me of a small town, little children running around. Music. Food and coffee. Saw people parked outside the park and walked in. Beautiful day. Great time to take a stroll and enjoy a pastry.

Today (Sunday, May 25) was a perfect day for the Farmers Market. Mid-70s with a lot of green grassy areas with lovely shade from the trees. Plenty of parking even when arriving after 10 am. People are chill and enjoying the weather with their kids and dogs. While there aren't a ton of fruit and veggie vendors, it was great to see strawberries, stone fruit, and mushrooms for sale. Seemed like there were more arts and crafts vendors than food vendors but there was a nice variety to peruse through. We tried a $6 peach lemonade from Peachy Queens, a $17 combo plate of beef, chicken, and lamb skewers from Asian Street, and bought some Blue Oyster Mushrooms from Mountain Mushrooms. All of the vendors were friendly!

Instead of taking the freeway home, I decided to drive down by the river and noticed the farmers market at Idlewild park and decided to go for a Sunday stroll and see what they were offering. A nice handful of eats (hot apple cider, local brewery, crepes, tacos, Filipino food) and local artisans and the sorts: cute dog booths, a knife sharpening, several bakeries, local honey, tea spot, Lavendar, and it looked like only 2 booths with produce. It was late in morning and the crowd was chill and plenty of space for strollers and decked out fur babies in winter wear. Parking took all of ten seconds to score with easy exit back on to the street.

Very purple at the market today: purple potatoes and purple bell peppers! Also seasonal garlic rosemary sourdough and Thai yellow curry.

So nice to start off a Sunday morning at the Riverside Farmers Market! So easy to bike to, especially with the ultra convenient free bike valet (don't forget to tip!) right at the gate, but also haven't had trouble finding car parking along the road or in the small lots. While the fruits & greens selection is a bit limited at times (just a few small stands), you can't beat the freshness or the variety...we picked up bell peppers that were purple today (a happy accident according to the vendor), and it was our spot for lemon cucumbers for a good while. You can also get plenty of ready-to-eat food, drink, and treats to make at home or eat on the spot from food trucks. Hard to beat the fresh out of the oven selection of breads and morning treats from Beloved's booth and the delicious hand pies (sweet and savory) at the Silver State Pie Company truck. We took home a small-batch, handmade yellow Thai curry (we'll try the spicier red next time) from Pink Elephant to make later. For a sweet treat, love the homemade jams from Lowenkind Bakery (there every other week) and the flavored marshmallows from Sugar Love. And there's so much more -- oils, soap, honey, dog food/treats, fresh eggs, crafts, jewelry, clothes, live music! Great for the whole family, including friendly pets. Highly recommend if you haven't checked it out yet!

We came to the special Mother's Day event, and wow what a hit it was! There were so many vendors there that it took hours for us to see all of them. Fantastic food, beautiful crafts and live entertainment, what a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day. We left with so many delicious treats. I can't wait to go back again and try out some of the vendors I missed!

Visiting the Holiday Bazaar this last Sunday was really fun. We bundled up and headed to the river for hours of shopping and enjoying all of the different vendor booths. This farmers market has grown so much, the variety and number of booths is impressive. It was nice to see food trucks as well. I know I really enjoyed a Cafe de Olla from La Victoria Coffee. Wonderful way to kick-off the Holiday week.

First time going to the Farmers Market. Lots of vendors selling lots of ware. Next time I'll go with an empty stomach and peruse the many food trucks!

3/17/2024- First time visit- and now I know it won't be the last.. I think the vibe for me was more like an artisan market.. and have no problem with that-.. As for produce only a few vendors.. which is not a problem because we have farmer's markets in our neighborhood.. As for breads and pastries-oh my! Probably bought way more than needed, (but my son can indulge while visiting).. Purchased from Lowenkind- marmalade jam and the chocolate matcha cake.. Long line for Beloved Bread (never heard of).. and picked up a few more pastries and bread- Customer behind me, was saying how the country sourdough bread and empanadas, and focaccia were really good.. If you're visiting, stop by.. it's a great fun visit..!

Ask the Community - Riverside Farmers Market

Do you offer fresh eggs and milk?

We do have fresh eggs! First Fruits Sustainable Farm typically has them, and sometimes also High Desert Farm & Kitchen :) No milk, unfortunately. There is only one local dairy in Northern Nevada and they do not meet our production standards.

I'll never forget my first visit to Girlfarm! Coming up the drive we were greeted by a herd of very interesting looking sheep, seemingly stampeding toward us, which stopped us in our tracks. From the ominous trail of dust that followed them you could hear commands helping Frankie Fly guide the herd down the trail and into the pasture. Eventually we saw the red quad and the "Wee Farmer", Wendy Baroli, sitting proudly atop it, who quickly jumped down to greet and welcome us to her slice of heaven. Wendy Baroli is one of the amazing people in our local community working hard to provide us all with something a little better. If you haven't met her, you need to! If I had to sum her up in just a few words they'd be tenacious, dedicated, passionate, and ferocious (in a good way!). At Girlfarm, her mission is to introduce our local food community to those heritage breeds and heirloom varieties that offer up the greatest flavor, which sadly have fallen out of sight as a result of more easily produced food and imports. If that isn't cool enough, the best part is she wants to share her knowledge and the experience of producing it with everyone as well. Through the Girlfarm Farm Family program, everyone is invited to be a part of raising some of the animals and crops grown on the farm. From planting to harvesting, you're able to be a part of it all. I can't think of a better way to connect with your food than this. It's very easy to pick up a plastic wrapped package at the store and bring it home, but there's a whole other level of satisfaction you get when you get to consume something you helped to produce. Farm families are invited to help process chickens and turkeys, as well as enjoy some of the produce from the farm, all with the help of Wendy and her partner Jill. The farm is nestled in beautiful country right beneath the hills at the NV/CA border. Wendy has several acres where she raises beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and turkey, along with produce including brussels sprouts, peppers, strawberries, and more! And best of all, she's constantly planning, plotting and dreaming about the next great thing she'll be planting and how she's going to bring it to market for us all to enjoy. If you want to learn more about this amazing operation, the happenings of the farm, arrange a tour, or sign up as a Farm Family, check them out on Facebook or their website!
