Stopped by here while I was in Reno visiting my parents and really enjoyed it. The mochi donuts were fresh, chewy, and not overly sweet. The texture is what makes them different from regular donuts. There were lots of flavors to choose from, and I'd definitely come back to try more. The shop was clean, the staff were friendly, and service was quick. Quality/Quantity - Congrats on your opening since May of this year. Your brand has come a long way since I first discovered you in SF. Sorry, I still prefer the Modo Brand, but they are just not as well run as a corporation as your brand. I also like all the new menu updates with the brand (since I last shopped you). Corndogs - Fusion, so creative. My wife wanted to try this. Coconut Jelly - My wife wanted this also. Drinks - All of which are so creative. Ambiance - Decent size location. You replaced the Starbucks that moved to a free standing location further down the mall. Open 6 days a week from 10:30am to 8pm; closed Mondays. Got this information from Google Maps. I could not find it on their website, Yelp, or in the store?!?! Catering available. Service - Self service. Two self service kiosks, too bad one of them was broken. The other one had 3 young girls on it and took forever to place their orders. Only one employee, she was working hard. Price - Reasonably priced. Family-friendly environment. Easy to order through the kiosk, but may take a while to get your food, as they're made-to-order to ensure freshness. Food is good but on the pricier side for snacks/dessert. Mochi donuts were soft, chewy, and not too sweet. Fries were piping hot and crispy. Korean cheese dogs gave a nice long cheese pull with each bite. They made a mistake on our original order and apologetically rectified it, while gifting a donut for having us wait. This review really should be 1 or 2 stars; however, I only tried the donuts, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt here. We stopped into Mochinut in the early afternoon to check things out. Ended up ordering a 3-pack of donuts. The donuts were good. They have this chewy mochi-like texture that is satisfying but doesn't add much to the donut's flavor. The flavors we ordered were ok. The Fruity Pebbles donut was the best. My issues start with the prices. $12 for 3 donuts is way too much. Any local donut shop is selling way better donuts for way less money. Second, the owner or manager seemed to be present, but he wasn't working, and he had his children with him. That in and of itself is not an issue, but then watching his kids run back and forth between the kitchen seemed irresponsible and unsanitary. They also left a huge mess in the dining room, which the man instructed a staff member to clean up as he left. At least while we were visiting, that didn't happen. My third issue is the ordering process. I hate when an employee is standing at the front counter, but you are directed to a tablet to place your order anyway. Then on top of that, there is a mandatory tip? Absolutely not. I did not try the savory food items. So perhaps I am missing something that would make this place a 4- or 5-star restaurant. But my experience was not great. Lots of room to improve. I likely won't return for a while, as there are certainly better places for donuts nearby. read more

Came to see how their mochi donuts compared to the ones we enjoy in Hawaii. The staff greeted us as we walked in around 5:30 pm. It wasn't busy with only a couple tables occupied. I had looked online prior to see what kind of offerings they had and it seemed like a wide variety of donuts. Once we started ordering on their one operational kiosk, it only offered maybe 6 different flavors (not sure if it was cause they sold out of some flavors or just offer a limited bunch each day). We picked out a strawberry cheesecake, mango sticky rice, and toasted marshmallow mochi donut plus a rice dog with just mozzarella. It took a little bit of wait time for our order to come out but the rice dog was really crunchy and light on the batter and super melted mozzarella in the center. Delicious! We tried bites of each donut and my favorite was the mango sticky rice. The mango drizzle made the donut pop with flavor. The other two were ok, didn't seem to do anything to distinguish the sugary flavors it was supposed to be. But overall I really liked the chewy texture of the mochi and would be happy with just a plain glaze. We will have to return to try one of their Taki rice dogs and see what other mochi donut flavors they have. read more

It is great to have a mochi donut shop in south reno! The location is wonderful, you can have a snack break while shopping or before going to the movies. When you go in, you place your order at the kiosk and they are pretty quick to have your order done. It is a nice restaurant with big windows and outdoor seating! I really enjoyed the Dubai mochi donut and the watermelon juice - yum!! read more

South Reno finally has a Mochinut and it was worth the wait! Still not 100% perfect but definitely a lot better than what the first location was. I was happy they weren't busy because we received our order so fast! But I also want it to be busy just so I can see if they can handle it. There are two kiosks available this time to place your order. The other wasn't working so that was already kind of worrisome. I'm sure it's for their coconut jelly since I think the kiosks are different sizes and was right to the display case. After we placed our order, the front counter asked if I wanted my receipt. The kiosk doesn't have a printer and I feel like that's a little inefficient when business starts to pick up because he's also the only one handing out the orders. There's also an iPad near him so I'm hoping you can go up to him if it's ever busy to place your order. The mochi donuts were excellent! I think my favorite this time around is the tiramisu and the strawberry cheesecake. There were 6 flavors available but I was told they would rotate flavors once in a while. My older child had the potato crusted half (beef) and half (cheese.) She really enjoyed it and it came out looking good. It wasn't just a huge hot mess of whatever whatever from the first location's grand opening. I didn't get a corndog this time but I will get my Flaming Hot Cheetos all beef when we come back! The seating area is a lot bigger than Mae Anne's. I feel like this should have been the first location to open. Mochinut gets a lot of crap because of the way the business was handled on its first year and so far everything here is excellent! I really hope they become successful at the Summit. Mochinut is such an excellent place to visit and eat and this location is what the other locations from California are known for. Let's support their business! Better than I expected! I don't normally like donuts so when mochinut opened right next to my yoga studio a few days ago, I was skeptical. But I came in and tried the choco kit kat flavor and I enjoyed it. It seems like the perfect place for teenagers featuring weird flavors and bright colors and a clean modern interior. The texture of these donuts is softer and fluffier, not cloying or dense or cakey which is what I prefer. They are very cute and aesthetic and pretty! I can't wait to come back and try the boba as I adore boba. read more

Visited in the late afternoon and it was pretty busy. The ordering setup was a bit confusing there are two kiosks one near the entrance for drinks only and another by the cashier for both food and drinks. That definitely caused some confusion for first time customers. We ordered 6 mochi donuts strawberry cheesecake Dubai chocolate mango sticky rice Choco Kit Kat Vietnamese coffee. Overall, they were on the sweeter side some a bit too sweet like the Choco Kit Kat. A couple felt a bit bland especially the Vietnamese coffee which had the aroma but not much real coffee flavor. Favorites were the strawberry cheesecake and Dubai chocolate good balance flavorful without being overly sweet. The mango sticky rice was interesting and different though not the best pairing in my opinion... For drinks we tried the Ube Matcha Einspanner and Tiger Sugar Dirty Latte. The Ube Matcha was pretty flat in flavor while the Tiger Sugar was strong and slightly reminded me of Vietnamese coffee with sweetness added actually pretty good. We stayed to eat and found out they sold out of mochi donuts by around 5pm which led to a lot of customers leaving disappointed. That seems like an issue especially since mochi donuts feel like their main item. Staffing also seemed very limited just the owner and family running everything. Tables weren't very clean with crumbs left around and the space itself looks partially updated but still feels dated likely from its previous tenant which was a Starbucks... Overall, there is some potential here I would come back to try other flavors and the corn dogs but they still need improvements in stock management cleanliness and the ordering system. read more

Amazing food! The half and half potato dog with the spicy mayo exceeded my expectation! The coconut jelly of phenomenal! I'm not much of a fan of coconut even and loved it! It also comes in this cute glass jar that in definitely keeping to make coffee at home. I've been to other mochinuts in many states, and nothing compares to this location! Good service! This Mochinut location is absolutely terrible. I came in here on June 6th, I had no idea another location had opened in South Reno so I was excited because it was so close to me. It was about a 45 minute wait for only 2 korean corn dogs. I get being busy and short staffed but this location just opened and they don't have enough staff...? What really pissed me off was the man at the front taking orders. The entire time I was waiting for my food (and everyone else there waiting) he was just standing there trying to look busy.. not helping anyone in the back at all. Literally just standing around looking at all the customers waiting for their food. He was also wearing flip flops which I'm 100% is a health violation code. The whole experience was just very disappointing because the food/drinks are great here... but definitely a weird and off-putting vibe all around. read more
