I got an entire hitch setup on my 2018 Highlander XLE. I am completely new to towing anything but the people here made the process really easy. I told them I am going to tow a Uhaul 6x12 enclosed trailer and I needed the car to do just that, and they made it happen! Uhaul was cheaper for their setup, but I just didn't trust a Uhaul technician since this place, Riv. Hitch and Trailer, literally specializes in this. WOW! Rory and crew are great! Locally owned and know what they are doing! They fixed my 5th wheel hitch and wheel bearings and brakes all in one day. I had an appointment and the work was completed on time. I did not want to leave my trailer at a repIr place for weeks to get repair and and service issues taken care of. They were very knowledgeable and patient with explaining to me what needed to be done and my choices for the repairs also additional items such as my shackles which I had no idea were something that needed to be maintained. They took their time to explain all my issues on my older trailer and repaired it for less than I was quoted at other RV places. I highly recommend if you need repairs to call them! The parking lot was a bit tricky but they suggested I get there early and I had no problem with my 40 ft trailer. read more

I chose to come here after reading the other reviews and I couldn't be happier. I don't know anything about towing stuff or hitches and when I called ahead of time, they set me up with what I would need and an appointment. I've never had a hitch installed before but it only took a couple hours which I thought was pretty reasonable so I felt that it was fast. The install itself is clean. Can't see that gaudy bar beneath my vehicle and the wiring setup looks good too. Nice and low profile, which was desirable for being on my Mazda CX-5. Staff was friendly. Update- The owner, Rory replied to my original review (and it has since been deleted) and I seem to have touched a nerve with him. He's showing his true colors, let's unravel a few of the misconceptions. First off he calls my review chickens***. Additionally he makes a comment about how I say that I am ethical and he challenged me on that. That's fairly interesting given that he posted my name, my hometown and my phone number at the beginning of his reply. That's not listed on my yelp review or on my Yelp page so I'm assuming he decided to pull my personal information off the paperwork I filled out at his shop. Seems a tad bit un ethical doesn't it? Secondly, he challenges the fact that I brought in my own product. When I originally made my appointment I asked if they carry the hitch for my vehicle to which they replied no. They said that I should just order it on my own and bring it in. Great, that's what I did and now the owner is saying I did so to save money? Next up, the fact that they denied me service based on the electrical component that I brought in and the fact that there had to be under body panels removed. I made the original appointment and I gave them the year make and model of my vehicle. I chatted with the nice gentleman for a few minutes, he said he looked it up and everything looked just fine, said it wouldn't be a hard job. This gave me confidence that he was familiar with the vehicle and or could've use the Internet to figure out how to install the hitch. Given the fact that Rory is now claiming that again, I am an idiot for assuming that they would take apart any thing underneath my car, it's confusing. Finally, Rory claims I stated they should watch the video for the job that should take five minutes... He is mincing words here... I stated the five minute video-not job I'm guessing that since Rory called my review chickens***, he can't take harsh criticism. Rory was quite rude and his personality is showing through on this response to the review. It's unfortunate that he can't take a little criticism on his business and has to basically go on a rant several paragraphs long about how I am totally wrong. Original Review: I was just denied service by Riverside hitch and trailer and wanted to share my experience with Rory. I made an appointment to weeks in advance and described the Hitch that I wanted to be installed. Additionally, I informed the person on the phone that I would have one additional component, a hands-free lift sensor that would need to be replaced at the time of installation which they said should be no problem. He explained that he was looking at it online and it appeared to be fairly simple. I was quoted a price I arrived early and left the vehicle for roughly 45 minutes. Upon returning they had just put the vehicle on to the rack. The technicians had the hitch ready to install but were looking slightly confused. I asked them if they needed assistance since I knew of a video online that showed how do install the hitch in about 30 minutes. They declined. After about five minutes I went back over and said is there anything that you need help with? They replied that they were looking up instructions for the lift sensor. I informed them that the lift sensor installation was detailed in the video and took a couple of minutes. I walked away and came back over after another five minutes of waiting to which Rory said we are going to pass on the entire installation. He went on to say that it's not something they are interested in pursuing and they don't want to help. I asked why and he said it had to do with the lift sensor. He rattled off a bunch of excuses having to do with warranty and issues with taking the car back to the dealer. It should be noted that at the beginning of our appointment they said they were familiar with these devices on other vehicles such as Fords. I questioned what he was saying for clarification, I said you are going to pass on the entire installation? He continue to ramble and just walked away. The workers quietly packed everything up in the car. I stood there in disbelief. There was no I'm sorry, no I wish we could help, just a plain we are refusing to help you. From the get go Rory was a little cold, a bit unhappy. I'm not too sure this is the type of place that you should come to expect perfect customer service, but I am a paying customer and I did make an appointment. Maybe just a little bit more customer service, even a hello how are you? I simply got nothing when I walked in. Ice the cake with this experience at the end, them simply refusing to help me and I can tell that their customer service seriously sucks. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. Unless however, you have an extremely simple truck where everything is visible underneath and there is nothing special about electrical components. It seems as though they don't understand anything beyond nuts and bolts. read more

I've shopped at riverside hitch and trailer over the years however it's been many years since being there. I called this morning shopping for a fifth wheel hitch. I first spoke with the young lady at the front, who was very knowledgeable and helpful. I later spoke to Tom who was a huge help and pointed me in the right direction. I drove up from temecula and was greeted and taken care of right away. Jared did my install, and he was top notch! Jared was more than happy to explain my new hitch to me, show me tips and tricks on removing and putting the hitch in, and just an all around great person with great conversation. Been meaning to write a review for a few months now. Bought a toy hauler and owner threw in the weight distribution hitch. His trailer was slightly higher than mine so my trailer wasn't level when being towed. Made an appointment, brought it in, I was out within an hour and a half. These guys are life savers!!! Amazing service!! I got screwed over by u-haul. I made a reservation with uhaul to get a hitch install for an upcoming move with a tight window but u-haul never got the part in for my reservation. I called a dozen shops near me in LA and no one had the part, but Riverside Hitch and Trailer had it and came to the rescue! They were able to install it for me same day. The girl working at the front desk was super nice and helpful as were the other employees who took my car in right then and there. Was interested in having a few flat tow components installed on my motorhome. I was instructed by the owner Tom that unless I purchased the parts through them (he hid under the disguise liability purposes but these are the same parts he gets from the same suppliers), and essentially paid his mark up, they would not install even though I was willing to pay a fair labor rate for their expertise. So sad that a small business would endorse such practices. Makes me wonder what else they over charge for. Anyone doing business with Riverside Hitch should be careful.
