Lovely crust (said a long-term Chicago resident). Crust - esp awesome. Better than other crusts in the area. It's an art! Sauce - lovely, not too sweet - nice. Everything could improve! Visiting friends in IL and wanted to try Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. People rave about this place. It was the worst pizza I have ever had! First of all they use what tastes like straight tomato paste out of a can for the sauce. It was supposed to have sausage, bell peppers, onion, mushrooms. Think I found a bite of sausage, 2 mushrooms, the bell- pepper and onion were RAW. Then it was topped with really thick mozzarella cheese. Then topped with looked and tasted like diced canned tomatoes. If your going to make pizza, use fresh ingredients, chop your veggies to bite size so they cook (since it takes a minimum of 45 minutes to get one) AND DON'T USE CANNED TOMATOES FOR TOPPING! I went here recently with a friend and was so surprised to find a fun place I'd been missing out on. It's a big open bar with a lot of seating. The beer list is lengthy, although nothing really hard to find. The food menu is lengthy as well with a lot of options - the zucchini fries were delicious. I ordered a pizza which was pretty good! Riverside offers tavern style pizza. So good! I felt that they went light on the toppings, but it was still good. We got a deluxe thin crust pizza and a chicken bruschetta salad. The deluxe pizza had the basic deluxe toppings - sausage, onion, mushroom, peppers. The sauce was pretty light and thin. The salad was good! Chicken was tender and everything was paired well. I would definitely order it again. We went in on a Sunday afternoon. It seems like it would be fun to go at night. We didn't have any drinks, but their drinks menu had a large selection. I highly recommend Riverside! I had a last minute birthday party and needed to feed a dozen adults ASAP! I called to order 3 large pizzas for pick-up and was met with a kind, courteous, and professional phone person. My order was taken without issue. They nicely answered the usual "How many pies should I get for a dozen people?" question without attitude, and didn't even want met to pay by credit card first. So they trust their clientele! Pizzas were ready about a minute after the time I was promised and they were obviously super hot, and I was dying to get home to dig into them! Ordered dinner this evening at 3:45pm for a 5pm delivery. Left specific delivery instructions that were not followed. I called when it was 10 minutes late, and was put on hold for 5 minutes, only to learn that the food was "probably" on the way. Food was 20 minutes late. Asked for meat sauce with spaghetti, there was NO sauce. The garlic bread was so hard, couldn't even bite in to it. Ordered a pepperoni pizza, received a COLD cheese pizza. The only thing correct was the gluten free pizza. Our home is only 9 minutes from this establishment. I would never recommend dining this restaurant. A friend who also grew up in Chicago said that it was very much an old school tavern style palace like we grew up with and I need to check it out. I looked it up and saw a South Elgin location right off Randall Rd. much easier to deal with then St Charles. So off we went on a busy Friday night, it was crowded but we were able to get a table without a wait. The inside is typical sports bar style with quite a few tables and a bar. It's not huge but they do jam the tables in and didnt seem like there was ever much of a wait. Beer specials, yes please like $3.50 unheard of any more, the prices are extremely reasonable, a large pizza is like $15 our local place may be double that. We started with the excellent sampler appetizer with onion rings, Mushrooms, Poppers, and Mozzarella sticks. All really good and better quality than the food service frozen stuff you often see. Next we got the Antipasto salad, plenty for 2, real salad greens with no iceburg or even romaine to be found, with salami, cheese and olives...ready good high quality salad. So far they were knocking it out of the park. We ordered our Pizza well done because what we had seen coming out was a little blond for our tastes so it took a few minutes longer and it was crowded, totally understandable. Also the wait staff was very attentive and checked in on us often, they were working it. The pizza came perfectly cooked and nice and thin. We ordered sausage, mushroom and onion. It was very good. The onion was a bit assertive for us and I will order it next time without, I am interested to try it again, their sausage is excellent. I thought it was a bit bland overall but that's just likely me, but the biggest complaint I had is that the pieces are just too big, but we easily rectified that ourselves. The Unified Pizza theory states that all pizza will be judged on what you grow up with and I need to have this a few more times to get a better idea of my love level and judge it on its own. It's definitely better than 95% of the pizza in the area. We will be back soon and often I would imagine, it was a great time and super affordable, a bargain you might even say. A reliable place for wings. Their spicy garlic are some of my absolute favorites. Typically they have a great solid tap list. Their online ordering is a little goofy and sometimes you can't order stuff like fries separately. Not sure if that's been fixed. Overall a great place with good staff and service. As I was visiting Elgin, I wanted a place where I could have some local brews as well as Chicago style pizza. A quick search landed us at Riverside Pizza & Pub, and it didn't disappoint! It was very lively for a Thursday night, and we found a couple of seats at the bar. Really enjoyed the selection of local craft beers, although their cocktail menu also looked interesting. Since we were visiting, we ordered both a thin crust and Chicago style deep dish. While the thin crust was a little disappointing, the deep dish was good, like really good. And they had some interesting toppings and ours was basically a Chicago styled italian beef including the giardiniera! Loved the energy and atmosphere, fueled by Euro rock and metal. Went here for dinner on a Friday night around 7:30 pm. The place was packed but we were able to find two seats at the bar. We ordered the garlic cheese strips for an appetizer and split the California chicken sandwich with fries. The food took a while to come out, but we were not surprised given how busy it was. Our server made sure we were kept informed on the wait time and ensured our craft beers were always full. The garlic cheese strips lacked any garlic flavor whatsoever, but they still tasted okay. The sandwich and fries were both delicious. What happened next is what put our experience over the top. We had about 1/4 of our fries and about 1/3 of our garlic strips leftover. Our server offered to box them up for us to take home. Unfortunately the tray slipped and went all over the floor. In our minds not a huge deal at all. She came over and apologized several times and offered to make us a fresh batch of fries and garlic bread to go. We told her it was not necessary, but she insisted. The food was great reheated the next day to accompany our lunch. Thank you for taking the extra step to make sure we left happy customers. Food is okay . Service and management of the establishment are both horrendous. Long wait times only because they don't use the seating accordingly. Multiple couples were sat at bigger tables leaving parties of 4 or more waiting longer. Smaller tables would open up and they would remain empty because they couldn't seat more at those tables. There were also multiple tables where patrons had been done eating and had food boxes up but would not leave. Normally this would be ok but if your wait times are long you can kindly explain to them you have patrons waiting and would line to sit them. Apparently management doesn't care about the patrons or making money. Last time bringing my family here. read more

Let me preface this with my first time here wasn't perfect. I placed an order through yelp at 9pm on a Friday night. Yelp estimated my order, a large thing crust pizza, would be ready for pick up in 45-60 minutes. Seems like 2x the time that it should take. But ok. I arrive at 9:50 and was told my order was never received... Um... What?! Luckily, the staff told me to have a seat and offered me a free drink if my choice while I waited for 18 minutes and they made it on the spot. They did apologize several times, and they gave a poker chip, good a free medium pizza. As for the pizza it self... half a large thin crust pizza fed my party of 3, it was very flavourful, fresh, and cooked just right. No complaints against them, perhaps the fault is with Yelp. Hence why I didn't knock any stars off my review. Definitely will be back, but maybe I'll call in my order instead next time. read more
