After a late night gym session, we decided to go to one of our newest favorite spots around town. First off, the fact that no one was open other than franky's and mcdonald's was reassuring, we were glad that we had the option to not just do fast food. We arrived 30 mins before closing and no one was there, so we expected quick service. We ordered quickly and got our food quicker. We honestly expected luke warm water doggies and fries based on our time of arrival, but the hot dogs and fries were freshly made, and of an appropriate temperature. As we ate our food, we couldn't help but be entranced by the marvelous throwback music selection. We felt like we were traveling back in time to the good ol' days when music was at its prime. Leaving the Chicago metro to return home. Been dying for an Italian Beef and a gyro since I got back in town. Finally had a chance to get one. Went to Frankys. Big mistake. The beef was shy on meat and the bread was weak. The giardinera was good. The fries were ok. The gyro was acceptable. But the worst was the cannoli shake. Cool idea, but execution sucked. We stopped in at Franky's on Main Street in St. Charles for a quick bite. From the outside, it looks like a hotdog joint. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of options on the menu. We enjoyed the Gyros Sandwich, Meatball Sandwich, Fish Sandwich, Battered Mushrooms and a Chef Salad. We enjoyed our meals which were reasonably priced. The service was very friendly and good. The dining room was noticeably in need of being wiped down. We had to search out a clean table to sit at. The dining area feels like a "typical diner" with black, white, and red decor. If you have a family or a group of people with very different tastes, this would be the restaurant for you. The variety is amazing and the price is right. read more

I have been coming here for awhile and am a fan of the food but whoever was working the drive through on 11/12/24 at 5:30 pm was so disrespectful. I couldn't hear at the drive through where he apparently said one second and I sat there for 3 minutes and was confused so I pulled up the window to just see if I misheard and to order and was kind where I was met with disrespect and said that I should listen and I can't order here and have to go all the way back around and shut the window on me before I could reply. I am infatuated with this place, It is conveniently located on the main drag through St Charles. Over several trips I enjoyed The Polish, the hot dogs,the Brat, the chicken gyro, the Italian Beef and of course the Beef Sausage combo. The dogs,brat and polish all come Chicago style. Each item I had was amazing. The crew there know what they are doing and were always helpful. Franky's is an excellent alternative to the bigger places that offer the same fare. Went to Franky's and ordered the Monday special today which was an 8" beef with fries and a drink. It was a drive through order. There were about three cars ahead of me after I placed my order. It was fairly quick though. Employee was very nice. The food was good! The fries were delicious but had a lot of salt on them. So much so that I would brush off each fry of the salt before eating it. Another plus for me was that they had Dr. Pepper in their choice of drinks. Overall it was very pleasant and I'm glad to have this place nearby. Would definitely go back. read more

The good.. This repurposed Wendy's building is putting out far better food than it ever did as a Wendy's. The dog deal for 8 bucks is a solid value. The buns are steamed. The bad. The dogs appear to be red hot Chicago's 100% beef dog which are small compared to Vienna beef dogs. The buns are not poppy seed. The fries are meh at best. Brought home gyros from Franky's. The meat was burnt; so much so that the sandwich was not edible, I threw it out. (still have the nasty taste of burnt meat in my mouth.) My husband said the meat was shaved off and then put on the grill. Why? Don't you shave off the meat which should be cooked and make the sandwich? What's the deal with fast foot restaurants these days? McDonalds, Portillos, Subway and more; I know it's fast food but the quality has gone way done while the prices continue to go up. New in town, we stopped in after a long day out and no time - or energy - to cook dinner. Had the Gyro with everything which was surprisingly good. Meat thick cut with nice crisp edges, lots of onion, tomato and a good tsatsiki. Tsatsiki good enough we wished there was a bit more on it, but be that as it may...it was a pretty darn good gyro. Tasty fries. A cheeseburger which totally satisfied us. Good meat with a good char around the edges. Very flavorful and juicy. HORRIBLE customer service.. I called at 7:58pm tonight (8/2/20) inquiring about delivery and orders. The google search indicates they are open until 10pm. I was just inquiring. The young man on the phone was told by someone else in the background to "just hang up the phone". So he reiterated that clearly. I could hear. So he hung up the phone without finishing his explanation about their hours. I'm extremely agitated and will continue to leave horrible reviews for this nasty customer service experience. Not too long ago a friend of mine notified me that a new hot dog place had opened up on his commute to and from work while going through St. Charles. This weekend we finally had the opportunity to visit this new hot dog place and once I stepped inside it immediately looked rather familiar. The sign on the place said Franky's and I soon realized I had been to a very similar looking establishment in Addison some time earlier. After a quick look at the menu it was clear that these two places were related. This Franky's is a bit different than the Addison location in that they have a drive-thru. I placed an order for a hot dog, and since I was particularly hungry something called a Pizza burger. For a place with a drive-thru this was a long wait (nearly twenty minutes) and when my food was finally out I was rather hungry. I made my way over to the soda fountain, poured myself some water. Snapped a few pictures and it was time to dig in. The first thing I tried was the hot dog. The hot dog here was on top of some fries, the fries were greasy and bland. They weren't too salty, and had some soft potato paste inside. They just didn't have much taste to them at all, I had a few and then went for the hot dog. The hot dog was rather sloppily prepared. The back side of the bun had become detached, so the top and the bottom of the hot dog were disconnected causing it to slide around when eating. Immediately noticeable to me was fact that the pickle here was slightly larger than the dog itself. I took my first bite and immediately tasted a pickle sandwich. After removing the pickle from the hot dog, the situation improved quite a bit and this would have passed for an above average hot dog most places in terms of taste. But with the back having fallen out it was still difficult to eat. The sausage used here was skinless, the usual mustard, onion and relish were well applied but the tomato slices were also thick and uneven. There was no sport pepper or celery salt on this hot dog. Next it was time to try the Pizza Burger. I've had pizza burgers at other places in the past with pretty good results. Unfortunately this pizza burger was not a pretty good result. I wouldn't say it was bad, I would say it was average. The bun was nice and soft and the beef was good. The pizza sauce they used was bland and tasted more like crushed tomato than pizza sauce. If I had to compare the sauce on this pizza burger to real pizza in terms of flavor, this was generic frozen pizza sauce having been unfrozen. Overall the hot dog here despite being sloppily made actually tasted pretty good with the gargantuan pickle removed. I think from this visit this Franky's is a bit worse than the Addison location. They also sport the tag line "Frankly the Best", my reply to that is "Frankly you're nothing special" which is why I'm giving them three stars. If you have a lot of patience to wait for average quality food then this is the place to go. It's clean inside, not bad and not great. read more

I've been to Franky's near me and this location has a drive thru which is precisely why I stopped here. In area. Hungry. Hot dog craving. I bolted in the drive-thru. Never tried a dog here or been to this location before. Somewhat pricey. $13 for a dog w/fries, mini beef & drink. Dog is a red hot Chicago. I always get them plain, and it had no snap. Wouldn't come here for a dog, but that's me. Must have been charged for a reg beef because it didn't look mini, and my total would have been less. I asked for melted cheese and didn't get it. Fries were decent. Really liked the bread they use for beef but it overpowered the beef which actually wasn't bad. In all honesty it could have been dry and super salty and it wasn't. Beef is shaved and they give you a good portion (unlike another chain I won't mention), but again, I wouldn't come here for a beef. If you know Franky's, you know they have a limitless menu of everything including pizza. Not a bad choice if you're in a bind and looking for convenience with a ton of food options. I have been putting up with their antics for years as THEY DO THIS CRAP ALL THE TIME but now I have to tell others. I ordered the rib dinner on the phone ahead of time and he said 15 minutes. When my husband arrived in the 15 minutes time slot , they AGAIN took the money and he gave my hubby a soda we did not order and said he gave our ribs to someone else and now we are going to have to wait. HE has done this to me at least 10- times maybe more. We waited over a half an hour and he made us late to pick up other food for our party. HE SAID HE WAS SORRY and NEXT TIME see him and he will give us half off on anything. WHY did he not give us half off NOW and not NEXT TIME because there is NOT GOING TO BE A NEXT TIME. You do not treat your customers like this and do it again and again! HUGE UPDATE (Jan 2018): Love your food guys and as one of your biggest fans, it pains us to say this: You have jacked up your prices on just about everything (some items between .75 to over 2.75 for Pizza) and you are NOT going to be competitive with some of the other mainstays in the area - from Rosati's to Bouna Beef to Riverside Pizza to Portillo's to Augustino's - none of which are actually cheap. I am not sure the reasons for your big increase in prices, but this may hurt your business. Your location (not directly accessible via a street light) is a hamper, but your big price increases now compounds that issue. A place like Portillo's will always have much more business, and they could charge $5 a hotdog and still get people in their door - surely you have to know this. We love your food, but the big increase in prices may push us to go to other places a bit more. read more

Should have been cautious walking in and only one other family on a Friday night at 6:15.. ordered the Texas burger it had lots of toppings and a decent bun but it was to hide the fact that the burger edges were TOTALLY burned, ff were good and decent amount. I went to Franky's for the first time last night after my husband raved about a chicken pita he had for lunch there a few weeks ago. I ordered the Philly steak sandwich (around $10) and fries. I don't mind paying that much if the sandwich is delicious, but this was not. The Philly steak sandwich had no flavor at all. I don't think it had been seasoned in the slightest. I don't know how it's even possible for the meat to be that tasteless. And, the fries were overcooked. My husband enjoyed his pizza puff, but that's nearly impossible to screw up. I don't think I'll be back. My husband did say that although his first chicken pita there was incredible, it hasn't been as good ever since. read more

Went to Franky's drive thru to get some food unfortunately after getting home I noticed my order was missing my french fries and my Swiss and mushroom burger was missing all condiments. I then called and spoke to Vincenzo the supervisor which was very nice and friendly. He offered for me to come in and have the stuff replaced however I chose to come in at a later date.
