Friday fish fry was great, service was very nice and the crowd seemed local and family oriented.

It is so important to support local businesses and this is one of them! I went here based on other Google and Nextdoor reviews (the yelp reviews did not do this place any justice) on the way home from Galena and this place did not disappoint! This is a no frills local pub but the two bartenders were friendly and the food and cocktails were great! I am not sure where they get their pink lemonade from but it is delicious (of course the Absolute citron made it taste better). The taco special on Sunday for $1.50 each was very good with a choice of ground beef, chicken or steak. The sour cream and rice or beans are a little extra. The BLT 1/3 burger with bacon, lettuce and tomato with added cheddar was fresh, delicious, and fantastic! The fries that cost extra very good too and freshly made. I guess it's a huge destination for the volleyball groups. Rode in this eve to check in for the first time. There was a smattering of people outside at the picnic tables and a few indoors. Memorial Day today so not much of a crowd. We tried the $10 / Monday pizza special and it was A-OK. Nothing special but pretty good. Thin pizza with a crispoy crust, the only kind I really like. Good service here too. Inside is a bit divey but nearly exactly as expected. It's sort of in the middle of nowhere and I think the only place in Pingree Grove. Glad we stopped. read more

I really want to give this place more stars. It just a small tavern that serves food. I was there a few years ago and thought I'd give the place another chance. The place got 2 stars just because of the front end staff that worked the bar and waiting tables. These two girls worked together like a well well orchestrated and choreographed dance. Not missing a beat they would be able to cover all the patrons simultaneously. While running around like chickens with their heads cut off they still had time to stop a bit for a little conversation. Pros: 1: The staff was over the top. 2: The beer was cold 3: The pizza was good. Cons: 1: Very loud inside. The Db level was 90Db. 2: It's Friday at 5:30pm. The fish fry started at 4pm. They were out of fish! Last time I was there they also ran out of fish. 3: I ordered the 1/2 lb of shrimp. The breading was saturated with the oil it was fried in. Yes I could squeeze it out. Unfortunately I don't think this place will have the chance for a "three strikes your out". I'll make sure I wave at I pass by. read more

First & foremost, I love the bartenders, but Paula & Mannie are our go-to ladies. They know our names, our drinks, & keep our volleyball teams happy. They keep us coming back. Monday nights aren't the same without them. Second, SAND VOLLEYBALL. Enough said. Third, the food. The pizza is spectacular when it's fresh out of the oven. The burgers are juicy & flavorful. Superb. Having grown up in the Greater Pingree Grove Statistical Metropolitan area, the Outpost has always been a big part of my life. The Outpost has slowly transformed from a hillbilly dive bar to a hybrid hillbilly/trendy dive bar. The Cambridge Lakes and Highland Woods developments brought in a lot of city folk who love to drink beer at the Outpost. They've kinda taken over as the primary clientele of the bar, essentially pushing the area hill rods out. You'll see a guy in a flannel and work boots from time to time, but he's like Waldo immersed in a crowd of women with coach purses and guys wearing deck shoes and polo shirts with popped collars talking about how much they love "country" life. (Holy run on... Sorry!) Haven't had much experience with the food, but I will say the barkeep pours a mean Jack and Coke. It's so strong it burns your nose hairs clear off. It's always super sketchy pulling out of that place - I'm always worried that I will become the hood ornament of a 1991 Mack gravel truck. Great place with friendly service. This place has the real Wisconsin "supper club" feel. They even have a Friday Fish Fry. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. It gets busy on volleyball night when the league is going. I have been here many, many times and have never been dissappointed. read more

The outpost tavern is a great place to go for deals especially on Saturday and Sunday for beer and food. It features a decent pool table, gaming machines, a great outdoor area with a nice porch, and a sand volleyball court. The bar staff is friendly and attentive. I was meeting friends for dinner there this evening. I was looking forward to the fish fry. We had friends waiting for us and there were 8 of us. Our friends sat at 2 empty tables and saved seats for us. My husband and I arrived to meet our friends, and 2 of our friends were sitting at one of the tables leaving 2 spots for us. There was an inebriated woman sitting in one of the chairs at our table. We politely asked her to move over to the empty seat at the next table over. She refused. We explained that we were already using the table and again asked her to move. She refused and told us she was the owner of the bar. She was belligerent and rude. Other people ended up stepping in and long story short, we left and didn't give them our patronage. I did find out that this woman is supposedly the daughter of the bar owners. I feel sorry for her parents that their daughter drinks their profits and turns paying customers away. They lost a lot of business tonight. They will never receive our, or any of our friends' patronage again. I hope they realize how much business they will lose. Very disappointed. read more

OK so me, Anton and his cousin Victor was out an we stop at dis place on rt20 for da cold beers an we finds da PBR ice cold on taps at dis place. Best good ol bar in like forever an da nice bartenders pretty cute too for sures. No fancy schmancy stuff just the cool country like farm area too. we has the many PBRs and da burgers were really goods. Victor he like watchin da volleysball girls so he was very happy. A warm and friendly environment. Staff members were polite and friendly. However, the establishment itself became meltingly hot. The air conditioning couldn't keep up with the heat of the ovens and the crowd of patrons. So both my husband and I were sweating the entire meal. We ordered the chicken nachos, which had good flavor, when we actually got a piece of chicken. Homeade chips and salsa made the dish. Next we ordered the pizza on special. Thin crust, hot and tasty with lots of cheese. Delish! We waited for an eternity for food and meal ending box/check which wouldn't have been a problem except that it was uncomfortably hot. We will more than likely give this place s second chance in cooler weather. read more

Giving this place 1 stars only because the first time i was there is was just ok. Second time. Awful. We sat outside and waited. Hubby had to go in and order drinks, which is ok but you should check your outside seating more. Then waitress came with drinks and never came back for food order. So hubby went back in to order 2 burritos. 20 minutes later we were served lettuce burritos. There was barely 2 tbs of meat and ALL lettuce. When waitress asked how they were and i said "all lettuce" she told me they portion them. Yeah..with all lettuce was my reply. She then tried to sell me their tacos. No thanx. Just stopped in for the first time on a early Sunday aftrenoon. Five minutes from my new home in Elgin. A North woods fell to the place.raw wooden paneling dark red ceiling. 2.oo drafts 3.00 domestic bottles. 1.00 tacos. About twenty chairs at the U shaped bar. Four two chair high tables line the wall behind the long side of the all wooden bar. Four gambling games fill out the shortest wall of the place. The largest side of the place runs the length of the building. With six high four chair high tables. Bar size pool table fills out the back. Didn't sample any food so no opinion on that. Only to say form the board on the wall that food is served 7 days a week. With daily specials. Looks like they make pizza. I don't have the ability to speak, so do I don't try to communicate with lots questions. It's just to hard and time consuming also embarrassing for me . I'll only review what I've observed. Beer was cold, price was right with friendly fun people on both sides of the bar. I'll definitely be back. Even if it wasn't close to the house. read more

Been in twice on Saturday evenings for 1/2 price pizza. The pizza is really good, and the service has been great! Very friendly staff, the place is clean, and I have some friends that play volleyball here over the summer (they have a really nice outdoor volleyball sand court). Definitely will continue eating their food, and drinking their beer, haha. read more

Hands down one of the worst places I have ever been to.... Our waitress was too busy smoking outside to even bring us our food or even check. We were there for almost three hours and saw our waitress maybe two times. Not to mention the food was almost uneatable and the tables were covered in sticky grime.. I was there for the fish fry and after waiting at our table for 15 min the server brought us the fish fry menu 10 min later she took our order 20 min later the fish came 15 min later another server came and asked if we wanted more we said yes then 5 min later she came back and said we ran out of fish WoW I said ran out of fish during a fish fry then she said you can have shrimp instead we said fine the shrimp came 10 min later and then we asked for the check and to our SURPRISE the charged us for the shrimp also and then said it not all you can eat fish fry sorry for the misunderstanding but you owe $50 for your meal WoW why would they offer shrimp as a substitute if it's not all you can eat and it should be called fish Friday not fish fry Friday although the fish was good the service and owner were awful for the way they handled the situation.... Will never go back and do not recommend this place at all. read more
