Our party of 4 just arrived for dinner at 6:30, and we requested a table outside. Some loser in a colorful button-down told us we needed to pay $15 per head to sit outside, even though there was a sign outside the patio that stated it was $15 per person when the band started at 8. This loser said "Well I'm here, so it's $15 per head!" in a super snarky tone, so we left to give another restaurant our business. Don't hire losers to seat customers, Old Republic!! read more

We went to Old Republic to see a band perform and planned to eat dinner there. We were there for 1 hour and 20 minutes and had to move tables before a server even approached our table. Love the vibe of the.place! Service was great! I had a lobster and shrimp sandwich which was part of their summer menu and its going away soon. But the sandwich was amazing it wqs so good. Plus the.homemade potato chips! I could eat it forever! I recently went on a Thursday night to see Kevin Willison of Anthem perform acoustic versions of Classic Rock songs. It was a beautiful night and their outdoor space is amazing. We arrived around 545pm and were seated immediately. By 700pm there was a line to get in OR offers Daily Specials as well as Happy Hour deals from 2-5pm. Thursday was half price pizza and 9.00 mini pitchers of beer..bonus! We each had our own 12 inch pizza. My wife had a gluten free mushroom which was only 9.25. I had a regular sausage for 10.00. The pizza sauce was amazing but the crust at the ends was way too crunchy - could have broken a tooth! OR has many servers so I'm not sure why we had to ask 2-3 times for more napkins,take home containers or our check? They looked busy but very forgetful. I would definitely go back again to hear live music but probably not for just their food. read more

Friend has been raving about this as his favorite hang out for outdoor eating and watching suburban bands. I finally made the trek out to Elgin. They had a great mango beer (seriously think Lienies' Summer Shandy or New Glarus Spotted Cow with just enough Mango). There is a whole beer list, but I trusted and appreciated the recommendation. The courtyard where the band plays is an eclectic mix of expansion from a nice pergola area, 'upper deck' seating, tables around a fire pit (in fall, I imagine) and two walk up bars. But we just waited for table service. Of course, Toast terminal get the orders to the kitchen right away. It was Friday, and the AYCE (All you care to eat) WALLEYE fish fry was recommended. I bit. The fries are done in beef tallow; they are long and thin. I thought they would not be my favorites, but they were great. Even without heavy salting. They keep their temperature, stayed crispy and did not get soggy to the last one. Corn fritters were a great crispy and nice middle, with some actual flavor. The walleye was hot. Thicker pieces meant they had more time from when it was too hot to touch (let alone eat) to too cold. The breading was like and crispy. And the flavor was good. The band, a long-time favorite, was Arra - 80s cover band that delivers most years including 2026. Only drawback is the sound is a real challenge for the sound engineer. The house sound system has sub-woofers up high above the rest of the speaker on the stage rigging and the architecture of the building creates terrible slap. They need an acoustic engineer handle a design using most of the existing equipment to properly place it. Bathrooms were clean, and inside looked inviting - except it was a beautiful summer nice to enjoy their courtyard. So glad my buddy called ahead for table reservations. The space carries a fun energy, especially at night when the music scene picks up and the crowd settles in. The beer garden is a standout feature and easily one of the cooler outdoor setups around. We used to enjoy coming to Old Republic, but this was our last visit. The customer service has gone downhill, and it's disappointing to see how little they seem to value their customers. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby that appreciate your business, offer better service, and don't make you regret spending your hard-earned money. Save yourself the frustration and take your time and money somewhere you'll actually feel welcome. Unfortunately, we can't recommend Old Republic anymore. read more

A great spot to watch games and root for your favorite Chicago team! The food and drinks were excellent. I had the fish tacos, and they were delicious--full of flavor with just the right amount of seasoning. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. I also tried their beer, which was a bit flat, but still tasty overall. The service was good, though a little slow since the place was packed for the Bears game. Despite that, our waitress was very friendly and helpful with her food suggestions. I really liked the vibe of the restaurant--it felt like an upscale sports bar. We were pleasantly surprised with a few small hangups. The service was great and quick considering we went on a busy Friday night during the NFL draft. I got a cream soda alcohol drink that was pretty good. We were served quite quickly. I had the fish tacos. The walleye was plentiful which I really appreciate. The only small complaint that I had was it was covered in a chilula cream that was waaaay too hot for my liking. I would have preferred it on the side. I didn't feel like having fries with my meal so I got a wedge salad which was delicious! It had a sweet barbecue sauce on it with some ranch. Yum! If you purchase tickets through eventbrite, they do not make a to make reservations ahead of time. Showed up early for an 8:00 show (first time ever visiting this place) and were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't and people who were there sat at their tables all night long and didn't leave so we never got a table and paid $50 for tickets and couldn't even watch or enjoy the show. Buyer beware if you purchase tickets. Manager on duty said over and over that they highly recommend reservations. $17 hamburger was nothing to write home about and drinks were weak. The bands are 5 stars but the waitress we had - 1 star. We've had that same waitress 3x before, ugh, and she was attentive for the actual order and we just had ice teas. She brought the teas, a male worker brought out our food. Had to flag waitress down for refills which took 20 minutes to get. We got there at 6:30 so not super crowded. Finally got the refills and then the m.i.a happened. Into the night we flagged her down for another ice tea refill. Not everyone drinks alcohol. Never got it. The band now ended and we wanted to leave. Waitress no where to be found. I had to get up and get another waitress and manager to check us out. I told the manager she never came by us after food and about 15 minutes into the band set. We saw her behind the bar waiting on people. Bringing drinks to people but ignored us and would disappear. And yes we ordered no alcohol but our food bill was still $60. We had no luck with her, never got the 3rd ice tea refills. Her tip reflecting the terrible service. This is the story the previous 2x we had her and there were 6 of us at both so the bill was substantially more but we'd have to go to other waitresses for service. She's awful as a waitress. Old Republic you can do better. We're there a lot, our group all bought the wristbands back in January. We love that and the bands but with this particular waitress, service sucks. read more

So this will be a first, I'm going to share my experience while still stuck sitting at the tall table in the loudest area possible. Ok, it's Friday and understand seating but no service for 15 minutes for drinks. Another 15 for beer nuggets, do NOT recommend. Fish fry, all you can eat. Server never checked in after food was dropped so another 15 minutes go a second serving of fish. And forget any refills not even water, sipping the melting ice at this point. Floor manager did a dip asking how everything was tasting but didn't wait for a response.. We have been here many times over the years and support all their sister restaurants in the area but this will be a last visit for us. And I have nothing nice to say about the 2 hostesses so I will say nothing at all. Do better on the attitude ladies, sorry I actually said something. read more

It was half price pizza Thursday and Kevin Willison from Anthem Band was playing acoustic guitar on the patio so we were in. The gluten free mushroom pizza I had was delicious. Unfortunately my husband's regular crust sausage pizza was really tough on the ends, almost impossible to chew. Service is pretty bad. Staff is very friendly but forgetful. Napkins never came, boxes took three times asking, check took a lot of time etc. All the tables around us complained about the wait and sent stuff back. Kevin made the night and the entertainment is the reason to be here on a nice night on the patio. read more

I was only here for drinks and music so this is a slightly unbalanced review. However... what a fun place!! The band was a great 80's cover band, the outside space was large with a decent sized stage. The atmosphere was lively and the look outside was super inviting. People were dancing (both young and old) and having a great time. The bartenders and waitstaff were super attentive. It also helped it was a perfect summer night. The menu was typical for a bar like this but my review is only based on the atmosphere and bar service. I need to come back in the winter to have dinner and experience this place out of season. read more

First time here and I called to make reservations for Valentine's Day. I saw their advertisement on Facebook. I booked it a few days ahead. The call went smooth, even asked if I wanted to be seated inside or outside. We got there and I saw a few people ahead of us who had reservations, were taken and given a reservation sign for their table. We got to the front and I said we had reservations in which they did check and saw it on the computer but for some reason we did not receive a reservation sign for our table. As soon we were seated, the waitress gave us regular menus. On the Facebook post, Valentine's Day had their own special menu. I had to ask the waitress about that menu. If we had the reservation sign, that could have been avoided. I want to address first that what they posted on Facebook was a click bait to get you in. $78 per couple but if you want the prime rib then it's a $8 up charge per person. While we were waiting for our appetizer, I had to ask her about the complimentary heart pizza that was for reservations only. The waitress told me it's for only people who made reservations....which again, if we were given the reservation sign, this could have been avoided and made my V-Day dinner a lot better and relaxing. I then told her we did and she had to go check on the computer. She came back and got the order through. I noticed everyone who had reservations, each person had their own mini personal heart pizza but we only received one to share? I didn't ask because at this point it was exhausting already. For our first course, we had the boom boom shrimp. The flavor was ok. I would have preferred it to be a little more crispy than soft and soggy. It said fried so figured it would have a little crunch to it. Second course we had soup du jour, shrimp bisque. We enjoyed it. Now the main course. The prime rib. Boy oh boy I don't know where to start lol. I would have appreciated if there's an upcharge for anything additional that you offer, to MENTION that it's an up charge.... We received our prime rib and just by looking at it, was very questionable. My bf described it as it looked like it came from a different kind of animal lol the texture looked so weird and it had an excessive amount of fat. It was not tender and juicy at all. We had to cut off so much of the fat. The couple behind us, also ordered it and the guy sent his back. We regret not sending ours back but we didn't want to be a hassle as we already felt like we were. The waitress asked how was our food and I was honest with her that it had an excessive amount of fat. She then said, well that's prime rib that's why I don't eat it cause I don't like fat. One, this isn't our first time eating prime rib. And yes prime rib has some fat but not this much and you couldn't even eat this. It was not edible or the good kind of fat. I will just say, if you love prime rib, you would know what a quality prime rib looks and taste like. Check out St Charles Place if you want the best prime rib. For dessert we had Waffle Iron Sundae. A toasty waffle w/ vanilla ice cream, bourbon maple syrup, chocolate drizzle + whipped cream. We enjoyed this and that's as much as we can say about this place plus the soup lol. I would not come back here. If this was any other day, meh whatever but because it was Valentine's Day, this will be in our core memory annually lol How is the waitress going to tell us that's how prime ribs are and the table behind us that you just served is returning their prime rib? We came to Old Republic for dinner, family of four. Didn't seem too busy, the hostess got us seated right away. After sitting there for about 15-20 minutes and watched three other tables get seated after us and servers going up to their tables and getting them water and taking their orders. We still have not been waited on. We waited another 5 to 10 minutes and still have not been acknowledged so we got up and walked out. This was the first time we walked out. We know it's a hit or miss with their service, which is unfortunate because their food is good and we love seeing the owner's mom greet each table and take the time to talk to us. Tried this spot for the first time and was not disappointed! The shrimp and lobster roll (Amity Island Roll) with fries was delicious. The lobster/shrimp salad mix was cold with great seasoning and creaminess (pesto mayo) but the roll was warm and buttery with just the right amount of toastiness on the outside but still soft. The seasoning on the fries was SO GOOD. I did not want to stop eating them! Perfectly cooked imo also! And for $20 it was a great portion and flavor - I even took half to go. The service was prompt and our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had. The outdoor area was very clean and inviting with good air flow because of the fans. Love the stage area and upper level seating where you can watch the live entertainment. It's a very innovative space and a great use of the location (old Texas roadhouse). I would definitely recommend and come back. It's family and dog friendly too! They have specific motorcycle parking and outdoor port-o-potties in a patio waiting area as well. I paid $27 for the bourbon street pasta and it was absolutely vile. First off it says in the description that it comes with chicken, however no chicken whatsoever was in the pasta. It also claims the pasta is tossed in a creamy sauce, but I don't believe that happened either. I paid $27 for a bowl of noodles soaked in oil, and half of an overcooked andouille sausage. The menu is large and varied which was nice, the prices seemed a little high but we reserved our judgement for the arrival of the food. Two burgers and a steak...the burgers got swapped and were cooked at the wrong temps then...the fries and waffle fries were excellent. The steak....oh the steak...for that price compared to other steakhouses was robbery. That steak was paper thin and compared to a certain Texas place was way way overpriced for what I got. We discussed everything in detail, including pricing, and I even stopped by a week before to confirm the final total. At that time, Jorge suggested we wait to make the payment on the day of the event so we could make any necessary adjustments. On the day of our event, we were unexpectedly handed a bill with a 20% group party fee--a charge we were never made aware of and had not budgeted for. He admitted it was a "standard fee," apologized for not mentioning it, but refused to issue a refund despite acknowledging the oversight.
