I will say that the meat pricing is much lower than the typical American markets and even lower than some other Asian markets I've been to (such as H Mart or Ranch Market). My favorite items are their BIBINGKA and TAHO. Bibingka is a thick coconut rice cake with a cream cheese center. Their bibingka is baked and flavored to perfection! It has the right amount of sweetness and texture when you bite into it! So delicious! I typically eat it warm and pair it with my morning coffee. Taho is a sweet dessert made from soft tofu, brown sugar, and sago (tapioca pearls). You can have it warm or cold. Very simple and tasty. The bakery also has other options for desserts and serve fresh pandesal (sweet bread) daily. If you have a craving for Filipino dessert I highly recommend San Honoré Panderia!

Although the pork adobo was in the heating plate, you could tell it wasn't heated at the right temperature and there were only a few pieces and she was gonna pack it up as a full order. That's a no-no. By this time, I didn't even wanna ask about the lumpia. Somebody please check their food how dare them offer rancid, spoiled food. He said to return next week & call to save it for myself. This shop/market is small but packed with so much Asian groceries in a tiny space. Everything though is neatly arranged. Even the fruits & vegetables are fairly fresh as fresh can be considering how hard to come by these are. My lucky day! The tamarind just arrived in a box while I was perusing the shop. $8.99/lb-- still warm coz they were just freshly picked. Honestly I didn't know what half this stuff was or how to cook it, but it was so fun discovering new foods. Walking in was like traveling to a little corner shop in Ghana or the Ivory Coast. Totally unpretentious and "authentic" in its simple stark white shelves stocked with packets of powders, cans, and seeds. Both the owner (a woman) and the store employee (a man) are very helpful explaining how you can use something. If you're an adventurous home chef and you want to cook something different, give this little hidden gem a try. Our fufu turned out great! And for those of you for whom this is your family's cuisine of origin, I can tell you that I took a friend there who's from West Africa. For what it's worth, she was crying tears of joy over the dried fish and frozen cassava leaves, so I take that as a big YES. (Sorry, though, no East African foods... It's in Harbor City in a warehouse, which makes a lot more sense once you know what the place actually is. La Española has been importing Spanish foods for more than 40 years, and they also make their own Spanish-style charcuterie right here in California. Being tucked into a warehouse near the Port of LA somehow makes the whole thing feel like a miniature local adventure. When you first walk in you have to acclimate for a second because every inch of the place is filled with something. Oils, olives, vinegars, paprika and other seasonings, wine, cheeses, meats, paella pans, and then random specialty things like soaps and room sprays. The neroli ones smelled fantastic, btw. I went in with a list because we were heading out to the desert and had decided we were making paella. We already had a carbon steel paella pan at home basically begging for the job, so this was happening. We left with sweet and smoked paprika, Spanish chorizo, a couple different oils, sherry vinegar, and several cheeses and meats from the refrigerated section. Plus, of course, some things that were definitely not on the list. Also, if you go on Saturday, they make paella in a gigantic pan behind the building and offer several varieties to go or to eat on the patio. We happened to be there on a Saturday and somehow stayed committed to making our own, even though theirs smelled delicious. I did get the skinny though, and they recommend ordering ahead. I felt bad browsing for such a long time, so I bought a sandwhich. At first I thought it was a little pricey. Then I thought it was a little small. Then I took a bite, holy cow it's worth it. I ate the first half as is, then the second have i ate layer by layer to taste each type of meat and roasted pepper. They give you a little cup of delicious olives and I highly recommend dipping your bread into the leftover brine. I'm looking forward to taking my friends here.
