    Fried Chicken Sandwich with Fries
    Klara C.

Wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon, they have a little parking lot. They have some patio chairs right out front, a bar and some seating inside and then a patio outside. The patio is covered and has 2 heaters. We walked into the bar and the bartender directed us outside where our server came out and got us waters. She helped us turn the heaters on and got us settled as we waited for the rest of our family to arrive. For apps, we ordered the Fried Oysters and the chicken tenders with BBQ sauce. The chicken tenders came with fries as well. The oysters were good, nice and crispy. The tenders were also delicious, especially with the BBQ sauce. The fries, while they looked crispy, were just a tad soggy for my taste. For our entrees, I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich and my husband ordered the cubano. Our family ordered salads with salmon. Everything looked delicious and was fairly quick to come out. My sandwich came with ranch and it definitely helped tone down the saltiness of the Fried chicken. Just eating the chicken alone was too salty and I had asked for my fries extra crispy which were amazing. The cubano sandwich was good and well made and the side of Brussels my husband got were also crispy. The salads and the salmon looked good, definitely cooked well. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The person who helped bring out our drinks also ended up bringing out some bacon for our dog and was so kind. The patio is dog friendly but I would recommend brining a towel or mat for your pup to lay on. Overall, great service and good food!

Dry rub wings (8 to an order)

Came at 5:15 on a Friday - the outdoor patio was pretty full but there was plenty of indoor seating available in the booths and at the bar. We ordered the wings as an appetizer with the dry rub - they were the best wings we've had a while and the dry rub is delicious. My husband got the fried chicken sandwich which he loved (chicken wasn't overly seasoned as mentioned in someone else's review) *note the chicken sandwich is chicken thigh. I got the cubano and it was delicious! Along with the hand cut fries and my husband liked the Mac n cheese. Staff was super friendly and great service, we'll definitely be back!

I visited Riverside Tavern toward the end of August with a couple of friends. We had been bouncing around the area and wanted to check out a new-to-us place. The weather was nice, so we sat out on the covered patio. Our server was super sweet and answered our million questions with grace. We all enjoyed our cocktails. I had a gin drink that was delightful and refreshing. For my meal, I ordered the pork schnitzel with sides of mac and cheese and french fries. The schnitzel itself was tasty, but both sides were lacking. I'd just get different sides next time. The vibe was so chill and relaxing, and the interior looked inviting too. Prices were reasonable for the quality. I'd consider a return trip for sure.

Riverside Tavern feels like you're visiting a family friend's place. This tiny tavern gives me beach town vibes. There is bar seating and booths inside. There is a covered patio outside. My partner and I stopped by here after a post work walk to grab some dinner. We were a bit surprised at the prices of things with tax and tip, but I supposed it's expected with inflation. We got the chopped cheese sandwich and the oyster poboy special. I love that they have a choice between fries or tots. The fries are the thick kind and the tots are pretty good. Both options are easy to inhale. My partner really liked his chopped cheese sandwich. I was happy with my oyster poboy. The sauce they used really complimented the fried oysters. When we went, there seemed to be only one waitress so the service was a bit slow, but thankfully we weren't in a rush. It's a charming place to stop by and get a meal.

Indoor and patio seating Great menu. Not too big, not too small. Just don't things right and there is something for everyone. The kitchen pivots to please customers Bartenders are friendly and make you feel like you belong there. Happy hour has some great menu treats. Looking forward to going back.

Fried chicken sandwich and pasta salad

Torta, Cuban, and Fried Chicken Sandwich are all fantastic. I don't know how I'll choose between these 3 in the future. The Brussels were super crispy and seasoned great. Hand cut fries are also better than most fries I've had. I don't eat pasta salad a lot but no complaints about theirs. Only thing I haven't liked was the burger. I don't mind a messy one but this one got a little too messy. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! Service has been good too and staff is cool.

    Love the decor!!!!

Where to even begin!!!!!! The vibe here is simply warm and welcoming! I've been there several times and the cocktails are always great! The entrees are delicious and the portions are impressive! The Brussels sprouts are YUM!!!!! Their menu is simple but WILL not disappoint! The house ranch is the bestttttttttt

The parking lot is small, and there is a pothole in the alley near the parking lot entrance that will bottom out an SUV. Apparently, there is additional parking, but we didn't see it in the dark. The restaurant is cozy, Hawaiian-themed, and clean. We were seated within moments of entering the host's periphery, and received menus and ice water within minutes. I had the poke bowl last time, and I remember it being chilled and gently flavored. The avocado and spicy mayo did a lot of the heavy lifting. It was filling and very healthy. My partner enjoyed the Ipanema Sandwich last time we visited. This time around we snacked on the fried halloumi (fried cheese and mint yogurt dip) and Lumpia, taquito-type beef rolls, with sweet and sour dip. We absolutely demolished the coconut cream pie for dessert. The pie was so delicate and lovely that even my partner enjoyed it, a typical coconut detractor. I recommend Little Nickel to anyone looking to try something unique and ambitious that veers from the well-trodden culinary path. The staff here were courteous and helpful, the restaurant was clean, and the food was firing on all cylinders.

I love the ambiance, it made me feel like I stepped out of Richmond and into a tropical vacation. This cute neighborhood restaurant is serving up what they describe as "tropical dinner". The food was what I could describe as "okay" We ordered the Lumpia and I've never had lumpia before but it was okay. My partner ordered the nickel burger and he thought it was good. I ordered the poke and I was not a big fan. It was a lot of food but overall the flavors and everything mixed up just did not do it for me. Otherwise. I'd come back for the drinks, ambiance and maybe appetizers but not a fan of the actual entrees.

To my jubilee it was happy hour and I was excited to drink and eat some yummy Cajun chicken pasta. Well their happy hour is nothing to write home about. It's 1 dollar off their cocktail menu.. disappointing. They do have $3 rails. The service is bleh. We weren't given much attention despite being 2 of the 3 people at the bar. I order the Cajun chicken pasta of course and 30 minutes later it arrives. Let me tell you... it did not come through drippin. I took one bite and was disgusted. There was no sauce whatsoever on this pasta. The chicken was hard and gross. I was hurt so hurt I didn't even order anything else. I sat there and drank my water while my partner in food ate his shrimp po boy which was mediocre. The fries are lit. To my surprise, while waiting for him to finish up they brought out a brand new pasta for me to try. The guy said he made it himself and I was so shocked. He gave it to me free of charge and I'm very appreciative of his effort. The second pasta was better still not for me. I ate some of it and he let me know they would be taking it off of the menu in three days which is probably for the best. I wanted to like this place but unfortunately they just don't cut it.

He had a huge vault of songs... everything I asked for, he had. Some of which are not as popular as others. AND the best part, he could change the pitch to accommodate my vocal range. Some of my favorite songs are a bit too high, and I had to ask for two of them to be brought down 1/2 step. Songs ranged from 50s to current. Enjoyable singers all around and everyone was fun to watch. I got a glass of their tempranillo, which was perfection. Full bodied, super dry and delicious. I also got a pizza, which is kind of a personal size. Very thin. Good, but not great. Decor is nice. Newly renovated with mostly tables all on the same level, but also a couch area next to the TV, and about three bar seats. Plenty of room to spread out. The only thing keeping Gramophone from 5 stars is the lack of food options. Hope they're able to add some simple staples like burgers and fries or salads. Convenient location right on the corner of Forest Hill and Westover Hills Blvd. I'll definitely come back for karaoke and wine!

My friends' catfish piece was HUGE, expertly fried in a light batter, and very tasty. I was jealous. My one friend is a fried catfish lover and said it was one of the best she'd ever had. Not even the worse part but how discriminating that whole experience was. I understand where they could be coming from "for not wanting to be liable" like the man in the front was repeating but from my knowledge and the knowledge of the laws in VA that you can google and check them out, that you can go in anywhere you please if you have clutches, wheelchairs, canes, walking sticks, etc. IMMA JUST LET YALL KNOW AGAIN it is illegal!
