I have been to Sportspage many times, primarily for burger night with friends. The burgers are ok but the service is usually very slow. After my experience last night, I will never go back. There were very few people there when we arrived at 6 pm. But as usual, service was still slow to get our beer and take our food order. Considering it wasn't crowded, it still took a long time to get our food. But only 5 of our 6 orders came out. Mine was missing. After a few more minutes of waiting, I went up to inform our server that mine did not come. She said it's coming. Another 20 minutes or so goes by. Nothing. The server came by and apologized and admitted it was her fault. She hadn't put my order in with the others. Ok fine. Wait another 20 minutes and all my friends were finishing their meal. Still no burger. I gave up and decided to leave. I went to the two servers to cancel my order. The one apologized again. Said it was her fault, not the cook's. I said fine but why are you serving everyone else before mine? (The restaurant got crowded after we placed our order.) The other server said that their tickets were placed in the kitchen before mine and that's just how it works. Are you kidding me?????? I can deal with the server mistakenly leaving out my order from the rest but just apologizing and expecting me to just sit there while my friends are eating AND watching everyone else in the restaurant getting served is unacceptable! She should have moved my ticket up, not add it to the end. I have never experienced such stupidity! Never going back. Went to Flying Pig and got a fast and better burger. I struggled with the idea of writing this review but wanted to provide feedback for management. We alternate between this restaurant and another for watching football games and enjoying wings. Each place has slightly different sauces and styles and we generally make our decision based on what flavors we are craving. Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday, spouse was out of town so I decided to grab wings for the teen boys and myself. We decided we wanted the flavors at sports page so I hopped over about 2 hrs before kickoff told the kids there would probably be a wait and I'd be gone a bit, figured I'd have a beer and relax put in our order and wait patiently. Was completely surprised to be told I could order a beer, but they were not doing any to go orders for wings, pre orders only. Drove to the other spot we go to and they happily put in an order, I enjoyed my beer and the kids and I enjoyed the wings. I'm sure sports page had plenty of business, I know my order of 24 wings and fried pickles probably won't be missed, but it makes me reconsider making them a first choice for our regular game rotation. If I sat at the bar and ordered 24 wings and then decided to ask for a to go box would I have been stopped on my way out? Generally the service is impeccable, the food is typical bar food done well, and we don't mind a slow kitchen so it doesn't bother us to wait for good food so I wouldn't say don't try them. Lesson learned that our other spot might be better for enjoying to go options on popular sports days. read more

Nice place I like it. Been here a few times and my experience with the service is not what I see in some other reviews. On our last visit our bartender knew almost everyone that came in by name. This is that local hole in the wall that the locals go to. Well I'm a local now. Good sized menu. It's bar food, but good bar food and reasonably priced. The Philly is recommended as is the Ruben- per Mrs Yelp. Wings are on the big size and the sauce options cover the wide range, Excellent atmosphere. P.S the mozzarella sticks and fries are spot on. Tried again. As much as the wings cost nowadays, ya think you can add some freakin sauce! Medium was terrible and we added Franks Hot Sauce to get some some juice. They now skimp out on Carolina Gold. It took 45 minutes to get order for carry out with hardly any sauce. read more

As a frequent patron to Sports Page I thought it time to write a review. Having settled in Midlothian, VA a couple of years ago I determined that Sports Page would be my "go to" place. The atmosphere is consistantly friendly, the food delish and the place is immaculate. The cook is well known for his cheese steak sandwiches. When the mood hits him he will make his famous chicken salad which has now become one of the favorites for many customers. But what makes this place really shine is the staff. Professional, friendly and most of all, kind. Miranda, one of the "barmaids" is sharp witted and ever faithful to her regulars. She is kind and caring and vigilant if she thinks your over imbibing. Another is Amy. Then theres Kelly and Buddha a husband and wife team that will have you rolling in the aisles with their sharp and funny stories. There are many regulars and for good reason. Sports Page is a "safe haven" and consistant in what they offer. I highly recommend it not only for good food but for a staff that remains kind. caring, competent and entertaining!! Solid bar style food... understand I wouldn't compare this to fine dining since that's not the style in the least, but if bar food (and good quality) is your desire this will have it. The booths near the bar at least had TVs if you want to have something to watch (we didn't - so not sure if you could have channel changed but I'd expect so). Service was fast both in server taking orders, getting drinks and delivery of food so too marks there. We all really enjoyed the quality and quantity of food - I really would have given 4.5 stars if I could have. Only negative (and this 'picking at straws') was that my son felt the hot wings could have used more heat, but that happens more often that not especially since he really likes heat. Good prices for happy hour drinks and decent variety for beers on tap too. Salad was huge, my rockfish sandwich was very filling, and no real negatives from kids on wings and Philly cheese steak. Had a craving for burgers. They were HUGE, and properly cooked. Fries were hot (we've learned to always ask for HOT fries). We started out with an order (generous portion!) of fried pickles, which were very tasty, though slightly greasier than I prefer. Didn't stop us from cleaning the plate though! I should have read the menu better because my Black & Bleu was served on a Ciabatta Roll, which was good, but I'd rather have had a regular bun. My fault though because the menu was clear. Came with excellent fries, again a good portion. My wife loved her cheese burger (she subbed cheddar for the American slice) and after the pickles, we took home half of both burgers and fries for a 2nd meal the next day. My only complaint is that the bleu cheese dressing on my burger was basically all juice and no chunks of bleu cheese, so the bleu flavor was minimal. Next time (yes, we will go back, and we eat at the Mechanicsville location fairly often too) I'll remember to see if they offer crumbled bleu as an option on the standard cheeseburger. Even as four staff member walked by, nobody acknowledged us, and despite a growing crowd behind us, no server greeted anyone. However the food is far from being desired, the boneless chicken wings are too hard, the parmesan garlic was really disgusting, fries had way too much salt, the steak and cheese was adequate, while the service was pretty good. Very disappointed in this place. The food has always been very good. I think they make some of the best wings in the area. With that being said, the service has always been mediocre. It has now crossed the line to terrible. Went there tonight for some dinner and beers. Walked in to get a table, there is a sign to wait for seating, waited 10 min. This is normal as people who work there just walk by you and ignore you while you are waiting. Finally some came to help. Requested a table outside, we had our dogs with us. Told to sit any open and would be right out. 15 mins later came out to take drink order. Did not bring menus but said would be right back with drinks and menus. Also said would bring water pitcher for the dogs. 15 min later, brought 2 beers, no menus, no water for dogs and ran off to get menus. 15 mins later came back with menus, now water for the dogs. Told her the beers was not what I ordered. Too beer and ran off. 5 min later came back with correct beer. Asked if we wanted water for the dogs. At this point we had had it, paid for the beers and left. And yes I was charged for the wrong beer. When not crowded service is mediocre. When crowded it is terrible. We came here on jan 1st because everything else in the area was closed for new year. The sandwiches here are nice. They offer a variety of wings and burgers and the usual assortment of pub apps. What really makes this place stand out though is the service. Our drinks were never empty. We had everything we needed. The food is good. it's nothing to write poetry about, but you get great value for money. The portions are generous. While it seems like every suburban town has their local hangout, this typical sports bar is actually quite good. They've recently done an extensive remodel, updated their menus, and included several new microbrews on their draft list. I come here most often for their wing night, usually with my dad. All of their sauces are fantastic, but the standout (to me, at least) has got to be the Tangy Carolina Gold. It's almost a mix of BBQ and honey mustard? Sweet, with a deep smoky BBQ kick. They are also the only place I know of besides Chili's to offer southwest egg rolls, and they make theirs from scratch. Sometimes, they host bands and I believe they also host a trivia night. This is the first negative review I have ever given. I was looking forward to some great wings since they claim to have some of the best wings in Richmond. I was the most disappointed I have been in a very long time. I ordered the mild buffalo. Having never been here I didn't know what heat level to expect. The mild are basically butter with a dash of buffalo sauce. It was so oily that I couldn't even get the blue cheese dressing to stick. Our table also ordered Caribbean Jerk wings. Horrible. They tasted like chili powder. One of us even said it tasted like a chili hot dog. The "boardwalk" fries weren't even good. They had a strange taste to them. Like the oil they were fried in was rancid. Who can mess up fries??? We will never go back. read more
