This place is a hidden gem! On waterfront in sneads ferry and the food and staff are awesome. I came by myself and was a little overwhelmed by the menu.. the specials alone are big list plus the menu. I ordered soft shell crabs and holy cow they were big and delicious! Little crunch on outside but just simply tender on inside! Great flavors.. my waitress checked on me a few times she was great! That view is amazing too. They have incredible deserts as well! Nice café style restaurant with great food. The restaurant was quite busy and this is before the season has really kicked up. The hush puppies were delicious, hot and we received them immediately without asking. The staff was great and especially helpful with us having a two year old with us. We had a great view. Some of the best southern comfort food in North Carolina. The staff is amazing, water view is superb, the sound of freedom flying overhead was beautiful and the taste of the food was unexpected. Today i had the broiled whole flounder for the first time and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had fantail shrimp and my brother in law enjoyed fried flounder. Next time im definitely tasting one of their homemade meringue pies. Honestly, if someone says they don't like the food here, they just don't appreciate Southern food at its best, they just chose the wrong type of restaurant all together - probably McDonald's would have been a better choice. We will definitely be back and next time we will bring our furry family and sit down by the river where they have about 10 picnic tables. The catfish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fries were just right--crispy and well-cooked. We also tried the calamari, which did not disappoint. This is a very popular restaurant in Sneads Ferry. We are just visiting and have ate here a couple times. Food is just okay. I had steak and shrimp. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned, could be better. I always expect more from the shrimp since they are fresh. They are over battered and over fried. Similar to what I get back home. The portions are plenty. I ordered the green beans but could not eat them , they were saturated in liquid smoke, you may like them that way but I don't. The fried squash was delicious perfectly breaded and fried. This restaurant is fairly pricey. It's by no means bad just expected better since it was so popular, expect a wait on weekends too. read more

First off the building is a locals fish restaurant. Don't expect anything upscale, but that's the point of finding off the tourist grid of chain restaurants. Not sure how many tourists know of this place, but it was 100% packed on a Monday night after tourist season. The hostess and waitress were amazing and super helpful in choosing what to eat. The food came out fast, the fish was cooked perfect and tasted amazing. I have been to a lot of seafood restaurants on the island itself, and this by far has the best tasting and freshest fish. I ordered baked flounder, very large size for the money spent, which included 2 sides. I will be back many more times. They also have homemade pies. read more

Found this gem in 2024. Deb, Debbie, Andrew, and the rest of the crew have been amazing! The oyster from my most recent visit were still screaming for their mommies because they were that fresh! Don't even think about leaving until you have sampled at least two different slices of pie! If you hit the pie lottery, the "Almond Joy" pie will be available. Rarely offered and doesn't last long - 'nuff said. The restaurant respects the fresh seafood they cook. It is not overwhelmed with excessive batter, costings, or seasonings. They OBVIOUSLY respect their fryer oil because everything always tastes "clean" as a result of frequent filtration and changing. In addition to the respect for their ingredients is their outstanding and friendly guest service. I don't believe there is one stranger in this busy place, only extended family. Drove over from Lejeune while visiting, and it was well worth the drive. One of those places that you order the fried chicken, and they tell you it may take up to 30 minutes. Wait the 30 minutes, you won't regret it. That's how you make fried chicken. Everything else everyone ordered was delicious. Even if you're totally full, get the pie to go. The Yelp reviews were good, and we thought to pop in and get lunch even though this was a bit out of the way. The restaurant is small and homey; it's going for an informal local restaurant feel. It has a bar area and larger restaurant area to eat, so while lunch was not busy I'd anticipated a much larger dinner crowd. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is so delicious. I literally couldn't stop with the complimentary hush puppies, which are tiny little balls of deliciousness. My husband and I shared 1/2 lb of shrimp, just so fresh and good. Complete with homemade cocktail sauce too! Yum. Finally, we shared a bang bang shrimp portion with broccoli casserole and beets. The breading on the shrimp and sauce was perfection. This was the first time here for me, the husband had been here for lunch during the week. It was Sunday and it was dinner time. It was pretty packed but was able to get a table in less than 10 mins. So they bring hush puppies to the table. They were ok. We started with the Calamari and that was ok as well. The service was great even though it was a busy Saturday morning and all the tables were filled. I ordered the shrimp and deviled crab combo with fried okra and onion rings and chocolate pie for dessert. The meal was heavy since it was all fried food, not to mention the complimentary hush puppies, but that was what was expected. The food was okay, nothing out of the ordinary but nothing terrible either. I didn't love the chocolate pie, it tasted more like pudding and I guess I expecting more of a mousse texture.
