This is one of the highest rated places in the area so we finally gave it a try. I wish I had actually listened to the reviews because it felt like a mix of Denny's and Chili's, and not in a good way. Positives-they take reservations. Always a plus. Taken right to our table and passed the infamous salad bar which looked so pitiful we all passed on that. Kind of a bummer. We were sat in a comfortable booth but everywhere around seemed like it needed a good clean and definitely not the atmosphere of any steak house I've ever been to. We ordered the crab cake and shrimp skewer for appetizers. Both were good. For our meals we ordered a little bit of everything including a rib eye which came out bloody (asked for medium well), pasta, brussels, grilled cheese, chicken tenders and fries. The overall consensus was that it was an epic failure. I would hardly call this a steakhouse, let alone with a famous salad bar. We definitely will not be returning. My husband and I just finished dining here, our tab was $122 and we tipped $26 in cash for the service but after leaving we realized they never brought us our full meal. It was almost an hour wait for our entrees, however the appetizer came out pretty fast. The crab dip tasted great, and so did the steak, and Tuscan pasta. However my husband never received the soup he had ordered as a side to his steak. For being a pretty pricey establishment I feel like this is a pretty big oversight. The food as always was amazing! I ordered a 12oz steak salad bar and potato. My friend ordered saladbar and potato. We are both senior citizens. I mention this because you don't eat as much as you get older. When our food came I gave my friend part of my steak, which is what we've always done there. I was very upset to see that I was charged 10.00 for sharing a plate. It did upset me but I decide to leave a nice tip. I wanted to tell that waitress there goes your tip! The steak came out perfect and was tender even cooked well done. My wife also enjoyed her side of broccoli and said these were some of the best broccoli she's had from a restaurant. Service was unimaginably poor. Though I was refused seating and never had the chance to try the food, the experience was defined by two clueless hostesses and an extremely rude manager. I had called two days in advance and was told by the manager herself that no reservation was necessary since it was after the busy season and I was requesting a 5:30 seating. When I called again to confirm, I was assured once more that it wouldn't be a problem. Upon arriving at 5:20, however, we were immediately asked under what name our reservation was made. Somewhat surprised, I explained the previous conversation and was met with blank stares from the two young hostesses. When the general manager -- the same one I had spoken with on the phone -- came over, she didn't offer to help or even apologize. Instead, she curtly said that as of yesterday all seating was by reservation only, and that I "should have made one." She repeated there was nothing she could do and that I "should have insisted" on a reservation. At that point, I told my party of five we'd dine instead at a wonderful Italian restaurant in Porters Neck -- where, unsurprisingly, we were treated with genuine hospitality. We had soda and I started with a cup of the loaded potato soup. It was okay, would I order it again? No. It had a lot of bacon so it over powered it. I enjoyed making my own salad at the salad bar (which is very clean, btw), also enjoyed the soup (loaded potato soup and red pepper soup). I highly recommend getting the ribeye with the grilled shrimp skewer, then baked potato (if you love potatoes), mushrooms, and broccoli. The cocktails were fantastic as well.
