    Red white and blue breakfast

We to Denny's in Snead's Ferry today . Things were really slow but it was ok, we didn't have anywhere we had to be. While we were waiting , one of the servers either quit or got fired adding more tension to the scene. When we finally got our food my hubby got burnt toast with no butter or jelly. He never could get anyone's attention so he finally went up to the counter and asked for some. My glass was chipped. But my breakfast was delicious and our server Shontay was very sweet.

I stopped in this morning with my son for Breakfast this being our first time at this location. Upon arriving inside we were greeted very kindly and asked if we wanted a table or booth. Our waitress was very professional and knew her job. She made sure to tell us about a few new items on the menu if we were interested. Our food was cooked to breakfast perfection and served hot from the kitchen. Our waitress was par on keeping our drinks refilled without us asking. The restaurant was clean as well as the restroom and the exterior if the restaurant was clean as well. This meaning no trash and such in the parking lot. There's certainly a variety of foods here and something for everyone from breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Kid friendly as well .

Three of us went in this morning for breakfast and had a pretty good meal. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. My boyfriend had the Co-Reactor meal, I had the dulce de leche cinnamon pancake meal, and the little person in our group had chocolate chip pancakes and a strawberry banana smoothie. The co-reactor had fresh strawberries and a strawberry sauce. I sampled it and it was awesome! My only complaints were the quality of the bacon in our two adult meals and the cinnamon disbursement in my pancakes. I don't know if I could have ordered a different kind of bacon but if I could have I would of. I can't really describe it other then to say it it wasn't quality. The cinnamon in my pancakes was only in the middle and not throughout. The last thing I want to add is that as we were paying an employee quit on the spot. It was awkward but the manager (the woman appeared to be one) remained calm and composed. I think that says a lot about her :)

The whole restaurant is super cute, albeit it does get really hot inside with only fans when there are lots of people inside. The tables are clean and the staff is friendly. The avocado toast has awesome goat cheese and the bacon you can add on is wonderful. The bad: Honestly extremely disappointed today. This is my third time here and I've been recommending them to all of my friends and family. We came in at 2 pm when they close at 4, drove 30 minutes for lunch, for the "kitchen to be closed". No where on their website or anywhere else do they advertise that they may close the kitchen early and I asked when it typically closes and they said they can just decide to close it when they feel like it, so they're only serving coffee and smoothies. We opted for smoothie bowls and they were completely liquid, we had to drink them and not eat them with spoons. There was also chunks of frozen fruit that didn't get blended and there was no spirulina and zero coconut flavor. Not sure who was working today but it was honestly such a bad experience that I don't think I'll be back or be recommending them to people anymore. $13 for basically a banana and handful of blueberries with melted juice and frozen pineapple chunks is highway robbery. Added two stars for the two prior experiences, I guess.

We did not realize this is a chain which isn't a problem in and of itself however, it's rare that chain breakfast restaurants are worth our money or time. In this case we felt they missed on every possible opportunity. Service was sketchy, we had to ask them to take our order, remind them four times for an item they kept forgetting to bring out, they burned one item, served it anyway and the waitress apologized. When she should have simply not served it at all. If I was the manager I would have been ashamed of what came out but if our orders were typical they may simply be used to being mediocre. We were in mid week and there were not a lot of customers. So we were surprised that they had run out of several things on the menu. That's simply bad management, they could have gone next door to the grocery store and bought the missing items. I had a sandwich which was just ordinary bread with almost no meat, and two small pieces of wilted leafy greens that did not even cover 1/4 of the sandwich. And this was the special. It was dry, over priced, and there was nothing on it, I mean nothing but a single bite of meat. Then getting some things wrong that a breakfast joint should do really well left us both thinking we won't come back. For example the scrambled eggs were terrible, how does a restaurant good up scrambled eggs? Literally anywhere does a better job. This is basically a Denny's with a smaller menu and lower quality. Skip this place and find an ihop or Metro diner with both just a little down the street.

Conveniently located in the center of Topsail Island, it was a 15-minute drive from our 2022 Airbnb stay. With next two stays at Saltwater Suites in 2025, the drive was less than 5 minutes. In the three stays, we had breakfast here six times. It had everything we wanted. My son and I are sticklers for routine. In the first four visits, we ordered the same thing: 2 scrambled eggs with toast & home fries for me, and pancakes for him. Orders were placed at the counter. Then we went upstairs to the dining area and waited for the orders to be served. There were no issues with the order, food or service during these visits. In both 2022 visits, I had coffee; in both 2025 visits, I had Mountain Dew. Refills are free for both coffee and soda. My order tasted better than a similar one I had at Tick Tock Diner in New York City. It was great value for money. I always felt that I ate enough to last me through lunch. There was no reason to try anything different. Unlike Tick Tock Diner, NY Corner Deli did not have any TVs in the dining area. I appreciated this as we go to the beach to get away from the world. Furthermore, there weren't many people in the dining area whenever we were here (before 9am). Can't speak for the dining experience at any other time of the day. Things were slightly different when we visited in 2026. Pancakes were not available, so son had french toasts in both visits. In the first visit, I ordered my usual; in the second visit, I tried something different and ordered western omelet (with toast & home fries). Don't let the photo fool you. The western omelet was bigger than it looked. "Hearty" is an understatement. It was so filling that I skipped lunch and had a light dinner. Mountain Dew was no longer available as the establishment defected to Coca-Cola, so I had Coke Classic both times. If you like a decent breakfast and a quiet atmosphere, New York Corner Deli is the place to be. It will continue to be our breakfast place whenever we are in the Topsail / Surf City area.

Both levels feature the exact same standard-issue, wobbly metal diner chairs, with vinyl tables upstairs. The menu is an everything menu, nothing specific, no specialties, consider this a one stop shop for anytime of the day. It serves up a breakfast that is heavy, completely unpretentious, and designed to fill you to the brim. We're close enough to Florida, surely SOMEBODY had to serve a decent KLP?! Quick Google search led me to the Southerly, which incidentally was very close to the park we were currently at. I asked if I could reserve one for the next day- easy as pie, right? He was so friendly and accommodating, I probably would have gone in even if he said no pies tomorrow. Just a super warm, kind person. The Southerly is known for their biscuits, so when we went in the next day we got biscuits, sandwiches, and the pie. The biscuits are out of this world. I've never had a biscuit this good before. Tender, flaky, with a few crispy parts. The flavor was heavenly. The sandwiches were very good, I wish I had been able to try more. I even took a plain biscuits home to eat later and they're fantastic even without butter or jam. Absolute perfection. The Key lime pie was good. We didn't eat it until later that night. The crust was a little dry and crumbly. The filling was decadent, perfect, key limey in every way. I couldn't recommend this place more. Everyone was so nice, it's a great local spot. And let me tell you-- I would pay for express shipping if they offered it.

We genuinely enjoyed our breakfast and would have happily given the experience five stars. Then we went to pay. While my husband was paying the bill, I was looking at a cookbook near the register when a couple of folded $100 bills fell from his pocket. I saw them fall. I also saw the cashier quickly move his foot over them. Before I could react, he picked up the cookbook I'd been looking at and handed it to me. "No, thank you," I said. "Oh no," he replied. "I insist. My treat." Really? I was stunned and started to respond when our son quietly interrupted. "Mom, it's okay." I tried to protest. Again: "Mom. It's okay." Outside, I asked, "Do you realize Dad dropped money?" Then I looked at my husband. "Honey?" "Yes," they said. "We saw it too." Marines are trained to assess a situation and respond, and that's exactly what they did. A cashier without integrity, someone willing to risk his employment over a couple hundred dollars is a sad and desperate person. As for that cookbook? I've never used it. It sits in my kitchen among all the others, as a reminder of what two Marines taught me that morning. And to that cashier, should you ever read this: Your sleight of hand--or foot, in this case--didn't go unnoticed. You weren't quicker. You're not smarter. You didn't fool anyone. A couple Marines showed you mercy.
