The expectation was that the business dry clean the garment. We received back a garment that was damaged. The garment was burned and unwearable. We requested that the business rectify the situation. They attempted dry cleaning it again, but it was clear that they had ruined the garment. They advised that they needed to send the garment to a third party to determine culpability. We followed back up a couple weeks later and they had not followed through with the engagement of the third party. Weeks later a verdict was received by the dry cleaner that they were not at fault. More than three months have passed and the result is that we purchased a garment and have been harmed financially by this company with no path to receive compensation for the damage or the time spent thus far.

Unfortunately, we didn't look at these reviews before we went. My husband is pretty relaxed about paperwork so he didn't notice, until he got home, that the slips he received in return for our property didn't have any information about when our things would be ready, how much they would cost, detail as to what he left or even a phone number for us to check on them. Weeks later I asked my husband to call them to see if everything was ready. Since there was no contact info he decided to drive there and inquire in person. What he found was a confused elderly man who said that the dry cleaning machine was down and that he didn't know when our clothes would be ready. He took our number and promised to call with more info. He had no idea if our rug had been cleaned. That promise was made 4 days and no phone calls later, we called again and were told that they would have to look into it and call us back. they promised to call back in 30 minutes. This left us skeptical enough to decide to jump in our car and head down there. A few minutes before we arrived, we received a call on our cell phone saying that they had found a few of our things but not all of them. We told them that we were on our way and would be there in a few minutes to help them look. Five minutes later, when we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying that they were closed. Undeterred, we walked around the back until we saw people inside working. We knocked on the door and were told that they were closed. We answered that we had just spoken to them on the phone and that they knew we were on our way. So they let us in. We just wanted to get our things, whether they'd been cleaned or not. What we saw was mind blowing. There were numerous baskets of damp shirts waiting to be pressed. From the odor, we guess that they had been there more than a day. they allowed us to dig through the baskets to find our clothes and we found them under a huge pile of unpressed shirts. Then started the hunt for our rug. Of the dozens rolled up under the dry cleaning racks, ours wasn't one of them. We started to get a little panicky since our rug is a very expensive oriental that could not be replaced. We finally found it in the basement with a bunch of other rugs that were slated to be cleaned the next day. Even with that assurance, our rug had been there for 3 weeks and we had lost all trust in Lawton's. The dirty rug, 2 stinky shirts and a few pieces of cleaned clothing came home with us. We were just relieved to get our things back. We do want to say that the one star we give Lawton's is for the pleasant, if frazzled, people who allowed us to come in and retrieve our belongings. They told us that they were under new management and that was the reason they were so disorganized. There is likely a much bigger and more complicated story here but we were happy to pay, cash only, for what was done and leave with the rest. Suffice it to say that we will look elsewhere when we have need of a dry cleaner.

The next day I took it in to them and they gave me a really hard time. All I wanted was for them to fix the suit to the condition I brought it in. They argued and said they wouldn't re hem the pants. When the auto text came in, they charged me $22 to clean the suit. I also noticed there was a bad iron mark on the sleeve which I didn't even talk about but would never wear the suit in public.
