I arrived and 2 large dogs were in the small dog area. Thankfully the big dog area was empty so I took my dog there. The owner of the dogs neither cared nor apologized. He seemed drunk so i just ignored him and waited for him to leave. He left and left his dogs INSIDE THE SMALL DOG AREA! Who does that!! Not only is that cruel but so horrible etiquette! Other than that its clean for the most part, no poop left laying around. There are bags to use to clean up the poop. My dog seemed to enjoy running around and smelling everything. There's bench with shade.

Original 4 Star Review: This dog park is tucked away in a neighborhood and has lots of big trees which creates awesome shade during a sunny day. There is a big dog park and small dog park separated by a fence. There is grass mixed in with dirt but it's a nice big area for dogs to run around and have fun. The water is outside the park fence so that's a bummer but not deal breaker. There is plenty of poo on the ground but it's mainly around the fence line so just watch your step. I'm pretty disgusted by the other owner that showed up to the small park (I'm in the big park). She literally dropped her dog over the fence and sat in her car for 15 mins talking on the phone. During this time her dog had pooped multiple times. She eventually went in but didn't pick it up. Filthy. Its not hard to pick up after your dog to keep places clean. I'm giving the park 4 stars and think it's a shame because if people picked up after their dogs it would be a fabulous park.

Watch for the ducks, geese, turtles and fish just be sure if you hang out with the birds you have shoes that wash off easily. Bunnies are often seen in the shrubs, darling and so fun to spot. They recently gutted this entire park so everything is new. Bring lunch and use one of the picnic tables or find a tree to sit under. This is a great park with a bathroom near the playground, swing in and check it out. The gorgeous flora alone is worth the visit.

It's gated off at night with signs saying it's supervised 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon-4 Saturdays. The basketball court was a little confusing in that they have the hoops in the center facing away. So it's two half courts, but not a full one. I suppose this makes it so people could have two games going on without any group taking over the full area? I'd never seen the court arranged like that before, but if it works... There's a really new-looking, vibrantly colored playground, enough grass for a guy to play fetch with his dog, some picnic benches, and clean bathrooms. It's fairly peaceful here.

However, with additional…read moreencouragement from my Yelp friend, Lilah J, here goes another FTR for a park that's not worth driving across town for, but would make for a nice place to exercise if you happen to be nearby. First things first, Google Maps incorrectly lists this park as "Byron Zinn Park", but Yelp has it correct here with "H. Byrum Zinn Park", at least neglecting punctuation. The park is located on the eastern end of Foster Road where it meets the San Gabriel River. Foster Road does turn south after the park, but it's a restricted area unless you're affiliated with the Storage Outlet located there. When you go east on Foster Road, you'll hit a cul-de-sac, but Foster Road extends past that cul-de-sac towards Storage Outlet. The park is located between that cul-de-sac and Storage Outlet. This park is comparable to Riverview Park, due south along the San Gabriel River by about a mile. Both parks are pretty bare parks that you won't find much else besides a walking trail, benches, trash cans, and transmission towers. Riverview Park is also way longer in length. I walked the length of the trails on both parks back to back, and I estimated Riverview to be about 5 times longer than H. Byrum Zinn. Riverview Park runs from Somerset to Alondra, so that should give you an idea of how large H. Byrum Zinn Park is. Case in point, if you like walking trails and can only choose one Bellflower park to go to on any given day, it depends on how much time you're willing to spend. If you have an hour to spend and want to take a leisurely stroll with a slower-moving friend, choose Riverview Park, but if you don't have that luxury of time and just want to go for a quick 10-minute jog, choose H. Byrum Zinn Park. However, unlike Riverview Park, there is no dedicated parking lot at this park, so you'll have to park either on Foster Road or in an adjacent neighborhood. So far, I've only been to this park twice, and both times, I found plenty of space on either side of Foster Road to park my car, so don't let a lack of a lot deter you from visiting this park! The walking trail in this park goes in a loop, but there's a path in the middle that essentially turns the 0 shape into an 8. There are three pieces of outdoor exercise equipment at this park, one of which can be found on that middle path. It's a jump bar that doesn't really have any description whatsoever of what you're even supposed to do. Actually, there was a description when I visited the first time in fall 2024, but it was ripped and raggedy. I can tell it's supposed to test your balance and agility, but that's pretty much all I can say about this squiggly bar. There's a 3-person static combo at the southern end of the park, which means 3 people can use it simultaneously. There are instructions for using this equipment, and one of my photos shows these instructions that you can read before heading over to the park. The third piece of fitness equipment is on the east side of the trail. I'm thinking it's a leg press, but I couldn't tell for sure. There weren't any instructions for that one, so try to use it in any way you can imagine! lol There is a Community Park & Trail sign that shows the distances of the walking trail, both with the middle path and without. This could make for some creative math problems like, for example, Lilah walks at x% of the speed that Derek walks, and Derek can walk the length of a Figure "8" lap in the time it takes Lilah to walk the length of a regular lap. What is x equal to*? Of course, you wouldn't be able to answer that question without knowing the lap lengths, but I have also posted a photo of the Community Park & Trail sign, so feel free to do the math on that problem lol. Besides the fitness equipment and walking trail, there are only a few benches and trash cans in the park, and that's pretty much it. No playgrounds, no basketball courts, no picnic tables, not even a water fountain. Well, they do have a couple of dog waste stations, but that's pretty much at every park lol. Overall, it's not a bad neighborhood park in the City of Bellflower that if you live within walking distance, it would make for a nice place to take a stroll and catch up with a friend you haven't seen in ages. Don't bring a basketball since that would do no good at this park, but a frisbee or a soccer ball could be useful here with all the open space enclosed within the walking trail. * The answer won't be exact because the lengths are approximate as indicated by the squiggly equal signs, but suppose that these approximations are indeed exact lengths, then x would be equal to 88. Funny how a regular lap is ~88% the length of a Figure "8" lap here. I guess that's why it's called Figure "8" lol

Unfortunately many who came to play like us just adjusted and played with the tennis nets on the courts. It would be nice if a portable pickleball net was kept here like other parks, but it seems priority is for tennis here (amounting to around 8 tennis courts total here). Needless to say, I like the maintenance at the park here. There were also gated courts for concrete soccer, which was interesting. Lots of gnats flying around the area, but could be due to local weather. Overall a good park to play pickleball but highly recommended once again to have your own net for an optimal experience. * Reservations for courts are able to be made according to the rules sign

Frankly, I'm surprised there's a page for Candleverde and that there are already pictures for it…read more It's just one of those patches of grass you drive by and think nothing of. I'm not sure how long it's been called "Candleverde," but it got the sign with that name (a portmanteau of Candlewood and Palo Verde, which intersect there) only a few years ago. There used to be a concrete playground there that looked like it was made of terra cotta, but it disappeared not long before they put in the new sign. The park is essentially a triangular strip of land with a few trees and several high tension towers, buzzing wires hanging over the lawn below. The wires also run over the community garden (on Candlewood across from the park) and the bonsai tree nursery on Palo Verde. You hardly ever see anyone here. Short of people cutting across it while walking their dogs, I don't think I've seen anyone here for any other reason.
