Riverwalk Restaurant is located in Downtown Bracebridge. A pit stop for lunch during our weekend in Muskoka. On a warm sunny afternoon, sitting outside the patio area does give you a nice view of the river. But when it is cold and windy, the small cozy interior is more welcoming with the cottage country decor. Lunch Menu items we ordered to shared: Oven Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Crostini ($13.95) Pasta Tree Rigatoni Entree ($24.95) Farm to table fresh ingredients. Price is reasonable and portion is big. Service is welcoming. Kitchen is a little slow even when the restaurant is empty. So make sure you schedule enough time for lunch or dinner. My girlfriend and I came and dined at Riverwalk a few days after the new year, on a small trip up to Muskoka for a few days. The ambiance of the restaurant was quite nice - from the historical plaques near the building it looks like it was from an old mill. The music was nice and peaceful and the restaurant had about 6-7 other tables dining besides us. There was one waitstaff in addition to the two chefs. We ordered: - Pan Seared Foie Gras w/ Crustini and Mixed Greens - Crackling Skin Chicken - Braised Lamb Shank - Flour-less Chocolate Cake The food all tasted very good and to our satisfaction. We could taste the freshness of the greens and local ingredients used. Also the portions were generous and the quality of the food was top notch. The lamb shank was very tender and moist - and easily flaked off nicely from the bone. The gravy/sauce went well with the garlic-mashed potatoes and the carrots/asparagus to add additional flavour. -3 STARS: While the dining experience, including the food and our service from the young lad of a waiter was good, my partner and I left with an overall NEGATIVE experience - overshadowed specifically due to us being avoided by the Chef throughout the night. Specifically, through the evening, we could see and hear one of the chefs coming out and going around to check-in with each of the tables and striking up (lengthy at times) conversation with each table. The place is cozy/intimate and our table was situated directly in the middle so it was impossible not to hear this around. We were literally the only table where she did not come by, say a single word to us, despite passing right beside our table on multiple occasions. We found that to be very very odd and it truly made us feel unwelcome and unwilling to ever return or recommend this to friends or family ever. It would be nice to get a response / explanation if there is one, but this was a feeling that both of us could not shake even for a few days following, and being back in Toronto. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice this restaurant (and my date night with the boyfriend) turned out to be! It was a little hard to find at first even with with the help of google map (parking is in the big parking lot behind the building where the restaurant is situated). The surrounding in bracebridge downtown is very pretty with all the lighting on the trees. The decor in the restaurant is pretty unique: it feels like a cave and kind of Mediterranean. Although, I feel that the lighting in the restaurant was kind of bright for dinner. The food, was amazing! We are from Toronto and are pleasantly surprised that there's such good food out there!! I ordered the duck breast and other than in Paris was I able to order duck breast rare! It was really good! The yam that came as the side was very tasty too. Everything was perfectly seasoned. And the greens that came with the dish was really fresh! They emphasized that everything was grown in Canada and some locally. To be honest it is the best place for fine dinning ever! I ordered a non-sweet potato soup with random greens floating on top like islands, which tastes incredibly different from sweet potato soup because it's not sweet. I had a lamb shank for entree, with artificially-coloured thick water sauce (the waitress called it "gravy", well, never heard of it) and some more veggies seasoned by detergent. For appetizer I had a bar of sponge, fresh and tender, originally from the sink. Overall, definitely 5 out of 5, coming back soon for sure! read more

We were disappointed with the overall meal although I give them 3 stars instead of 2 because the appetizers (crostini, dumplings) were very good. We went with a group of 8 and most of us felt the main courses fell short for what one would expect for such a pricey restaurant. The linguine was bland and the vegetarian "surprise" was not good. The waitress whilst trying her best, was not that knowledgeable on the menu and seemed nervous. The chef did come out to talk and she was very friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't really find the food was worth the price. On the positive the decor is lovely and overlooked the river. I also do not agree with the $$ rating showed within Yelp! I would put it at $$$ or even $$$$. The meal for 8 (w/ 2 bottles of wine and 5 beers) cost us $720 including tips and tax. read more

Spent the night here for our anniversary dinner. There is a free parking slot right behind the place. Love the outside lightings. Service was great. Tried the squash soup and two mains - rainbow trout and steak. The quinoa pilaf in the trout is a bit hard for me, but everything else is close to perfect, especially the steak (we had medium rare). read more

My husband and I were here in September and were absolutely blown away. If you go, definitely try the dumplings as a starter. For mains, I got a chicken gnocchi dish in cream sauce - I never get pasta when we dine out but I'm so glad I did this time. The six of us came in for lunch on a rainy summer weekday, and had such a good experience. We all had a variety of selections, and everyone agreed their food was delish. My meal included a tasty purée of green vegetables, followed by a burger -- juicy local beef with fresh accompaniments -- and some of the best French fries I've had in ages! From street level one descends a flight of stairs into a homey and elegantly decorated dining room overlooking the river and the falls. The environment felt upscale, but the diners were almost all casually dressed, so we didn't feel out of place. The kitchen is off to one corner of the room, so we got to watch the chefs in action -- both easy on the eyes. :) The price of lunch was much less than what I would have expected given the quality of the food and the room. Went to this restaurant for the first time this weekend. Excellent meal. I went during the What's Cooking festival and ordered from the fixed price menu. I had 4 beef dumplings for a starter which were excellent (reduced size order for the prix fix menu). The main was a pan seared pickerel on a sweet potato mash with zucchini and red pepper also cooked excellently. A rich chocolate mousse/cheesecake style dessert finished the meal. There is a beautiful view from the restaurant and the service was excellent. My only complaint would be that it is over priced. With tip it came to over $100 for one person for fish dinner and 2 glasses of wine. read more

This review is not about food, it is about pre-food and pre-seating experience. When I called the restaurant to make a booking, I asked if it is accessible because I have a family member on a wheelchair, they said it is, if we go through a certain entrance, which they explained. When we arrived we got lost and one of the hosts was extremely helpful and told us exactly how to park and get to the restaurant. Then when we got into the restaurant another hostess gave us attitude about not knowing how to get to the restaurant, because she gave us the instructions on the phone. And she did not tell us where to be seated, when I asked she pointed at the table, and when I asked if we can take another table with a better view, again she gave me attitude about telling me on the phone that they are booked and that she will squeeze me in. I did not feel comfortable at that point and asked if there is another server for us and when she said no, we decided to leave... of course that was inconvenient as we spent a while trying to find the place, park the car and get the special needs family member from the car to the restaurant. read more

Honestly the best dining experience I've ever had. From the warm greeting at the door, to the attentiveness of the staff, our entire dining experience was worth every penny. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the trout. It was honestly way better than dining at most of the fine dining restaurants here in Toronto. Yes. Its fine dining so you will pay more than casual restaurants however its honestly the best dinner I've had anywhere. I was worried it would be a bit of a pretentious restaurant but they'll make you feel at home whether you're rich, poor, old or young.
