I'm here typically once a week, for there special offers about the bar pizza. $1.49 for a cheese pizza on Wednesdays and Sundays, but get there earlier if you have people in your party who want something different, and here's the reason why: they close there main kitchen between 8-8:30pm. I can understand the logic behind it, why bother keeping a kitchen open if nobody will order? Well as I right this review, I'm at the 99 restaurant down the street because their kitchen is still open. The way I see it, they just lost 2 customers and potential business. But if you get here early enough, the food is good and service is ok considering it's a bar. read more

This visit was awful. I was here with family members that were visiting from out of state. We had a group of 6.The service was horrible! Our orders were all mixed up. When brought to the attention of the server and manager there was no accommodations made to fix or compensation offered! I would not recommend this facility at all!! Such a shame. read more

This used to be a great place to go for very good bar pizza on Sunday and Wednesday nights for the $1.99 cheese pizza. They also used to have great bands on weekends. In early 2018 The Riv renovated and put in booths. Since then beer prices have gone up with IPAs in the $7 average range and the pizza quality has diminished with no consistency and price increased to $2.99. It all depends who is making it that day. The bands are now small since the booths have taken up the space they used for the stage on weekends. The pizza we had last Wednesday looked and tasted like it sat under a heating lamp and was dry and had no flavor. Since the weekend entertainment and quality of their pizza is no longer impressive we likely won't be going back. read more

I have never had a bad experience at the Riv! Food is good, prices are great, and the staff are always friendly and try to make your visit a good one! It's clean, with a great outdoor area. They always have bands on the weekend and other entertainment during the week. If you like beer, they have a ton of beer choices. The bar pizza is cheap and all one would expect for bar pizza! If you want the same old boring pizza go to one of the chain pizza joints, but if you want good bar pizza this is the one! (the BBQ pulled pork pizza is awsome). They always make you feel welcome, good food, great prices and good people. That's what a neighborhood bar is supposed to be... right? read more

Bartender checked our ids asked who was driving and then refused to serve us. Like really? Like all because we were laughing when we entered your bar? This place used to be a local biker bar, and had a bad reputation in the area. It was sold in 2004, and it was completely refurbished. The only thing that is the same is the name. The owner went out of his way to make it a place that everyone could come to, bikers, locals, college students from Bridgewater State, and even families during the dinner hour. The pizza is the best bet on the menu. They have all your typical toppings, but they also have a few specialty pizzas. My personal favorite is the Buffalo Blue pizza. It is a buffalo chicken pizza, with blue cheese instead of tomato sauce. The rest of the menu is full of solid pub food. Hamburgers, club sandwiches, steak tips, and even some seafood. Always check to see what the specials are for the day The beer selection is better than your average bar. They have your standards on tap, Bud, Miller, Coors...etc. But they also have some Sam Seasonal, Sam Adams Boston Lager, Wachusett Blueberry, Guinness, Bass...and the list goes on. I believe they keep 12 beers on tap. Watch for their pizza specials. They have 99 cent pizza a couple days a week (eat in only). On Fridays and Saturdays they have live music. Some acts are better than others, but there is never a cover charge. This is a perfect bar to start your night at, or a place to spend the night at. The Riv is also a great place to catch one of the local sports teams in action, without the obnoxious sports bar crowd. Three strikes and I'm done. Once I got cold pizza - I think they had a no-show and served it to me. Another time it took 1 hour and the pizza was completely burned. Finally, the last time, I think the cheese was moldy and left a terrible taste. I had hoped this would work out for me but I don't think I"ll be back. I also heard others complain of the wait time so unless they get their act together...they may not be around much longer anyways. I miss the old riv - at least you know what you got. read more

Wait staff nice but cook is either high or stupid or both. Ordered a BLT with bacon well done and bacon wasn't even cooked (disgusting). Too obvious to be an oversight or mistake so I opted not to tell the waiter as I thought my best bet would be to pay for it and never step foot in the place again. Also, coke was flat.... read more

All I've ever had here was a cheese pizza on 2 separate occasions and I had to take a napkin to the pizza with the amount of grease on it. I don't know if it has changed in the past year or 2 because that's probably how long ago it was since I've been there. That much oil on a pizza means the ingredients aren't very good. read more

I went to this esablishment last week. NOT IMPRESSED. The bartender had very long strawbery hair and an obvious allergen to smiling. the wait between drinks was very unacceptable. I would like to know what was going on out back, because she was there more than behind the bar. Might i add it was NOT busy. The food was bland and took entirely too long to get. The pizza was very greasy and bland. The other entree was small proportioned, and one of the sides was wrong. If you like the bar in Roadhouse (think biker leather, flannel, and drunk 20 somethings) then this bar is for you. They boast over 30 taps, but they market to the PBR/High Life crowd. maybe one or two quality lines...MAYBE. PS The "craft" beer is overpriced. Never again. read more

The food was good a few years back until they got new staff in the kitchen. I have found black hairs in my food and come to find out there's actually some gross girl that works in the kitchen who just so happens to have black hair. The staff instigated with a few of my buddies that were there with me. The beer on draft is ok but I have found better selections with more variety to the mix at other locations. Like I said, this place was awesome a year or so ago. If they were to terminate some people's employment at their establishment, I'm sure things would go back to being just as swell as they were before. read more

The Riv is a great spot in the area, especially being a college town. There are great specials and a massive microbrewery selection. I like to try unique beers so it is ideal. There is an outdoor patio and game room so people can spread out. I like the food... their samplers are HUGE! I will be back! read more

Where do I start? Very understaffed, one waiter and one bartender. All staff could care less about the customer. They have great deals such as wing night and a cheap pizza night, but its tough to have a wing night when you run out of wings by 7. On top of that half price apps ended at 7, but we could still order "boneless wings" at full price if we wanted. Pizza night is going to take up about three hours of your night so plan accordingly. Half hour to be waited on, hour and a half for a small cheese pizza to come out, and about another hour before your bill comes to the table, even if you ask for it before the food even comes. The pizza took so long that we ended up getting it to go. No apology from the wait staff or anything. Mediocre food at best. Have been twice, one time for wing night, one time for pizza night. Will never be back again, its a shame because it could be a fun place to catch a game near the college. Place has a ton of potential, maybe new management down the line can figure their stuff out. read more

This place is known as the best little bar in Bridgewater, and that couldn't be more true. Starting from the staff to the newly renovated establishment, its just got a great feeling once you step in the door. The staff starting from kitchen to waitstaff/bartenders to even management are friendly, outgoing, and professional. Never have I felt so taken care of at a bar-type restaurant such as this. And then there is the food. Some really great deals on excellent grub. Wednesdays and Sundays they have their awesome bar-room style cheese pizzas for $1.49! They have an excellent kitchen staff who are constantly coming up with new daily specials as well that are not only tasty but creative. Oh and I can't forget the drinks. They are super reasonably priced and with their extensive beer menu, 32 draft beers is the most around, and large list of wine and spirits, there is something to cover anyones needs. And another thing I can't forget is the GREAT live entertainment friday night and saturday afternoons. But I have to stress the staff once again for they truly work so very hard. WORST experience ever. Where to start...we'll first we get there sit down and the waitress comes up and says "what do you want". We had not even gotten a menu yet, so we had to ask for one. It was Monday, so every where had a sign for "25 cent wings". So we ordered 6 each. A little bit later one waitress/cook comes out and tells us that we need to have a minimum of 8. Thats fine. But, after she left ANOTHER waitress came out and basically said the same thing however, she added that we need to buy sodas too, however "she covered for us, so its not our fault". We were never told this so putting the blame on us was RUDE. Then the people who walked in 15 minutes AFTER us got there food first, same amount of people. Not to mention they took FOREVER to get wings and a pizza. They are rude, the food is horrible. We got a melt sandwhich, the bread was toasted but the cheese was cold and the turkey. I would never go back. I was sicken at how rude and horrible the service was. read more
