Sal was very informative, responsive to our requests, and took the time to explain everything to us. He even went into Carfax to see what and when any maintenance had been done. The costs for service were more than fair. We dropped our car off at 8 a.m. and retrieved it at approximately 4:30 p.m. after a very thorough examination and servicing had been accomplished. Sal called after the examination and carefully described what they recommended being done and the costs. We are very happy with Rizzoli's customer care and the care our car received. Our 2013 RAV drives like she is a new car! The steering, the brakes, the acceleration are more responsive thanks to Rizzoli's careful care. I had heard great things about service at Rizzoli's, but we had a classic bait and switch for much more costly service. Was quoted one price on the phone after giving very detailed information including prior mechanic shop notes on the problem. We dropped the car off for service, after they had the car the quote changed from complete work needed for $350, to $250 per item (code resets). We paid for work that was done and declined any further work. We will never return. We later went to an auto shop in Paso Robles and had excellent service there and that shop was much more reasonable. The quote was half the price and what they couldn't do was not charge for including for the time, that shop was honest very helpful and we left with a lot of intimation about work that still needed to be completed, in short the kind of service feeling I was expecting from Rizzoli's but did not get. Not sure how other service is but our European made car will never go back to Rizzoli's, nor can I make a recommendation to anyone to take their car there. A sure way for any business to lose my future business is to have unexpected charges, bad quotes or bait and switch. If this was a bad communication somehow (was not as thorough information and needs/scope of work was given) but there was not even an apology, just a "we never would have that" with bad attitude. I took my car in recently to address some squeaky brake pads, and they did a thorough inspection and sent me a report of all the issues they found, prioritized in order of importance. They then called me to talk through the report and explain their findings and answer any questions I had, with absolutely no pressure to fix all of them at this time. I gave them the go-ahead to do it all (might as well, when in Rome), and they were able to work quickly and get my car back to me good as new in a couple days! Bait and switch My sons vehicle broke a axle in morro bay and thinking rizzolis was a reputable place had it towed there. They fixed it and a couple of weeks later the rubber boot failed and sprayed oil on the catalytic converter which was smoking so bad I thought the engine was on fire. I was told there's a 3yr warranty on it and they would fix it. Then I got a call that the parts they used weren't factory parts but a cheaper replacement and for $112 extra they would put in a new better factory part. My problem is they never asked me if I wanted a cheap part that would break in 2 week or a factory part that would last but either way you would think they would honor their warranty and fix it for free? Guess not. Buyer beware here they admitted using cheap parts and charge to fix warranted work. read more

We did have to leave the car there for a few days but the staff updated us with videos, phone calls and text messages as they made progress. TL;DR: Dropped my truck off for an oil change, picked it up with a broken door that won't stay shut. FULL REVIEW: I took my Explorer into Rizzoli's Automotive on Grand Ave in Grover for a routine oil change, and their tech BROKE THE HANDLE ON MY DOOR and Rizzoli's refused to repair it. For context, the driver's door in my SUV opened and closed correctly and the door handle worked properly this morning before I dropped it off. I know this because I used the driver's door to get in and out of the vehicle multiple times, including when I arrived at the shop. The door *worked fine*. When I came for pickup, the service advisor told me they noticed the driver's side door wouldn't close, and then she immediately implied that it was obviously something that was already an issue before I dropped it off. I told her that it wasn't and went out to look at the door. When I walked up to check it, I could see that it wasn't latching to the bracket on the vehicle frame - the door was sticking out a couple inches. I checked inside and the door handle was fully extended in an abnormal position - something was blocking it from returning to its resting position. I went back inside and explained that the door was working properly when I dropped it off and she and the senior mechanic who was sitting nearby implied that it wasn't the shop's responsibility. "Do you expect us to be on the hook for that?" The senior mechanic actually said that. He then told me if I left it overnight they would diagnose the problem but said they would have to charge me to fix it. The first red flag was when they sent me an "inspection overview" via text a couple hours after I dropped the Explorer off, with a checklist of everything they had inspected. They lied about what they inspected. On their list of "good" they listed several things as being working or in good shape on my vehicle that definitely weren't. 1. They said the AC/heater was good and yet my AC hasn't worked in over a year and the heater only works on full fan. 2. They said the windshield was good and yet there's a rock crack in the very center of it. 3. They said the headlights were fine and yet one of them is taped into place and aimed in the wrong direction. 4. They said the door locks worked and yet none of the door locks work in my vehicle (and haven't for YEARS). And several others. I get that it's a free inspection done in addition to the oil change, but the point is that this faked list shows a willingness to lie and a carelessness when it comes to customer safety - if they're willing to cut corners like that and lie about it, how can you trust them to repair your vehicle in a safe way? Honestly, why not just fix it? It makes no sense that they would risk their reputation by refusing to fix a low-cost labor repair that their tech caused. Yes, it's an older truck and the door handle could have broken any time (believe it or not, the senior tech actually implied that: "it's just the nature of these things, things just break sometimes"), but it doesn't matter. In California, when you entrust your vehicle to a mechanic shop, they have a legal responsibility to take reasonable care of it, and if they break something while it's in their care, they should repair it, at their cost. And here's the pièce de résistance: you remember how they tried to claim that the driver's side door was already broken when I dropped it off? The photos they sent me *after* the inspection showed that my door was working properly and closed all the way when I dropped the vehicle off to them. And it shows that in two different photos, no less! I came to Rizzoli's because I was impressed by what I had read online about them - it seemed like, in spite of some negative reviews, they had a solid reputation for quality work and a care for their customers. But my experience was the opposite: I came for an oil change, but I left with a broken door and a sour taste in my mouth. I won't be back. read more

Our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee began using engine coolant so we called a highly recommended shop in the area. They were totally honest and said they were down one mechanic and really backed up on work and actually suggest the "new shop" Rizzoli's. (think miracle on 34th street ??) anyway. We called for an appointment and dropped it off. I'll say everything went like clockwork! We were called and told pressure test was fine, no leaks. Then provided a list of possible reasons, a type of good, better, best repairs that will be needed now and in the future. I have only gone to Rizzoli's once before, almost 15 years ago. I had a 2002 Jaguar S Type that needed factory servicing. Was asked to make a deposit on a part that had to be ordered but found out through comparison that the part was not as expensive as they were going to charge. This was in Santa Maria, and I told the service manager my concern and he became very irate to me; he didn't seem to appreciate my investigation and rudely addressed me.
