Had a camping stove fail and had to go to town. Hankering a diner breakfast. Ordered a small chili cheese omelet, which was plenty big. It was filled with what I am positive was Nalley's chili. Not a bad thing since that stuff is like crack to me. Onions would have made it better, as would throwing it under the broiler to melt the cheese. Hash browns were undercooked and underseasoned. No coffee refills were offered, but the coffee wasn't so good that I wanted more. They forgot my toast, but when I got it, it had a nice char on it. I say that in a good way. Would have much preferred butter to margarine, but at least they had real cream. I heard someone say the cook was new, which might explain the hash brown rawness and forgotten toast. Very poor breakfast service. The tables that needed cleaning when we arrived should have given us a clue to leave. One table was cluttered with dirty plates for our entire stay. It took 15 min for coffee and at least 45 mim for breakfast. Breakfast was served without eating utensils, and a long dark hair was found in one meal. For sure the last time I dine here. read more

If I could give no stars to any place this would be the one. How long can it possibly take to make breakfast?? Well I don't know because we left after 40 minutes of waiting for said breakfast. The people in front of us got there food 25 minutes after we sat down. The whole place reeked of smoke not sure if the person pretending to be the cook knew how to turn on the hood vent. On our way out I thought maybe it was ready and we could take it to go so I asked the waitress who had been hiding in the kitchen if it was close to being done 40 minutes after ordering and she had to go check... You must order first then be seated. Ok except took 50 minutes to get food and it was not hot. The server seemed to be confused on what drinks where ordered for what table. The hash browns where skimpy, and the food would be actually good if it was hot instead of sitting around before being served. It was the afternoon of the eclipse and they were slammed. The staff was nice and got us what we needed quickly. The menu is limited and mostly fried but it was nice to be out of the car. A decent local place with okay road food. Daughter and I agreed it's a 3.5. Considering the circumstances they did great. The food was okay. Real onion rings. Tasty curly fries. This place is a great country style breakfast spot. Had the Denver Omelet and the cook took the extra time to grill the veggies just right. Hash browns are as good as they come nice portions. Passing through from Seattle highly recommend when to breakup the spot. read more

Well...not a lot of breakfast options in Burns Or. Originally we wanted to try somewhere else but that place was closed. So we opted this. It was ok. Nothing special, and a bit overpriced. We tried the bacon breakfast sandwich with a side of hashbrowns, and a steak and egg plate. 2 coffees and an extra side of bacon. That totaled 28.00 which is steep for an average diner-type place. Service was slow and breakfast sandwich was greasy. My husband said the steak and eggs weren't bad. Probably wouldn't be back....but who knows...Burns doesn't have many choices. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch before heading down to Malheur NWR. Shocked by the prices we decided to split a burger/fry combo. Which seemed to annoy the old dude working the counter (Don the proprietor?). The food was okay, but sure not worth this kind of coin. Plus the restrooms are gross. This may be the only reasonably priced and decent restaurant in town. It sure beats the Apple Peddler (not difficult). I recently had lunch and it was a little more than OK. Service is great. RJ's was recommended by the checker at the Safeway and appears to maybe be the only place in town that serves breakfast. That said, it was a pleasant surprise. Hubby order RJ's Browns which was hash browns topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions and green peppers, melted cheese and two eggs. You can stop there if you're vegetarian or add choice of meat. He added sausage and raved about it. I considered that but just wasn't that hungry (we're talking about farm hand portions here). I got the breakfast sandwich which was lovely. The bathrooms are a little rough, but I wouldn't say gross, they could just use a little upkeep. The we're clean but it appears they prefer duct tape as a repair option. We paid almost $20 for a burger and approximately 6 fries, a hamburger patty and 1 drink. It took an hour to get our food and the food and service was horrible. While we were waiting for our food, the employees stood in the kitchen and gossiped loudly for everyone to hear. Very disappointing. read more

Not many choices in Burns, but we heard from the gas jockey that this is the place. Friendly small town burger joint. A little dirty but good food choices. We don't usually do McDonalds or Subway, but I'm thinking they might have been a better choice if you are ok with it. read more

Just driving through Burn and we stopped here for lunch. They looked busy and was expecting slow service, but it was fast. Hamburgers were delicious, fresh beef, real cheese and toasted buns. Curly fires were excellent also. All in all a great experience. Only 4 stars because the prices are high! $10.00 for a burger is high in my book. read more

Probably one of the better greasy-spoon breakfasts in Burns. (Hint: Do NOT- I repeat do NOT- order the eggs benedict, which had, quite possibly, the worst hollandaise sauce I have ever tasted. If you are going to risk cardiac arrest, the hollandaise should at least be edible!) Still, this is a passable breakfast, and the service here is better than what you usually get in Burns, unless you believe the signs, and try to order from the parking lot with the drive-up speakers, in which case you will be ignored.
