Raymond is fantastic! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an engagement ring. I first walked into his shop 2.5 years before I ended up proposing to my fiancee. From that time on I came in at least a half dozen times before making the final decision. Every step of the way Raymond listened to what we wanted and helped guide us towards designs we preferred. We ended up having a custom design that was a blend of several rings we really liked. He was never pushy, and always emphasized that he was working on our time, not the other way around. I went in recently and was helped by George P. He was... a character... to put it mildly! :) But I appreciated the humor and had a good time shopping with no pressure to buy. And in the end, he did help me find a gorgeous ring mounting! The mounting itself was beautiful, with an even halo and nice white diamonds. Many inexpensive mountings can be ridiculously lightweight and fragile, and that was not the case at RL. I also sent Raymond a follow up email, and his response was lightning fast! I left my stone to be set into the mounting and it will be a few days, so I will update the review upon receipt! I've learned that a skilled bench is harder to find than a beautiful mounting, so I'm anxious to see the final result. UPDATE: I received my ring and love it! I was worried about the stone fitting properly and it does! Raymond sent me a pic AND video of the ring before shipping, which was really nice. However, if you are very picky about your prongs, I would give clear instructions (size and shape) from the outset or have your own bench set your stone. I prefer smaller, more pointed prongs, so I may have my jeweler shave them down if they bother me down the line. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and I told my husband I wanted a very nice center stone and diamonds around the bands and a halo. Why give 5 stars? Well, I'm looking for service and value. As for value, Ray outbid the *closest* competition by $150 for my men's wedding band (1100 to 950). Some others were even talking $2,000 for the ring (rip-offs, but still it's true). I looked for like 6 hours all along there. As for service- he was upfront about everything, and he gave me a rush order and had it ready in 2 days. Furthermore he offers lifetime resizing. While I was skeptical of this, in fact I went back 3 wks later b/c the ring was a little tight (it's good to err on the tight side, btw, b/c you don't want to lose it). Within a couple of hours he had it resized (by only 1/4 of a measure) and now it fits perfectly. Courteous perfect service combined with great deals. My review of RL Jewelers starts at the end of my experience with them: my fiance LOVES the engagement ring I bought her from there. The entire week since we've gotten engaged she has been staring at the ring and purposely using her left hand whenever possible to show it off. So the difference between RL Jewelers and any one else is that they made the process for me seamless, stress-free, and they were a partner in helping me find the perfect ring, not a salesman trying to push product. I dealt with Daniel most of the time and he was extremely knowledgeable and professional. At my first appointment, he had prepared almost a dozen different diamond stones for me to review and of various qualities to give me a sense for what the differences were. He also had the exact kind of band I was looking for! Over the next few weeks as I continued changing my criteria (maybe a little more or less in weight, what about going up in color, or down in clarity, etc.) he was extremely patient and always was interested in getting me the diamond I wanted at whatever price was affordable to me and the best value. I really felt like he was a friend helping me find the best diamond for the best price. He never rushed me; he was truly committed to helping me find the perfect stone however long it took. I have to say that when my girl friend wanted to look at rings in Jewelers row.. I was scared! My budget didn't have jewelers row written on it for sure. At first we were a little over whelmed. We started with RL jewelers and talked to Raymond and he was a great nice guy. We knew we wanted to look at a few places so we then went to New York jewelers and looked at a few rings. We started our search again looking for the perfect ring and they pulled out a few rings and placed then into a holder and had us walk into a secret room in the back and kind of felt trapped. We looked at a few other stores and went back to RL jewelers. We once again talked to Raymond and we has very nice and told us he can make us any ring we wanted if we didn't see one we liked. We looked at a few rings and decided on a custom design. We said give us this from this ring, that from this ring etc..The ring had over 1.5 carats of diamonds and they needed to be high grade and very clear to match the stone I already purchased. Ray gave me a price to design the ring and we left. I didn't want her to know the exact ring I was buying so I didn't put the money down right there , but I did go back the next Monday and put down the payment to get the ring started. Raymond told me it would take 2 weeks to get that type of ring done. It was very detailed and had tons of individual diamonds on the band. All three sides and we had the solid parts speckled with smaller diamonds. The ring was done in just over a week! The ring came out awesome! Raymond could not have been more helpful and his price beat anyone's that would have tried! Raymond was able to make this ring for less than we would have paid for just about anything else we looked at that was nice and it was custom made! I will be back for any, and every piece of jewelry I ever purchase in the future. I have used Raymond twice, both times with great success. The first time was December of 2007 when I needed an engagement ring to propose to my girlfriend. I had two criteria - a sapphire stone and a reasonable price. As much as I love internet buying, I did not feel comfortable buying a ring without least seeing it. I went to Jewelers Row, but was struck with how little the merchants cared about what the customer (me) would want. One guy instantly shot down the sapphire idea and insisted I go with the (more expensive) diamond. Raymond was the fourth jeweler I meet and he instantly began working with me in a positive way. After about 10 minutes of general discussion of the kind of ring I would want, he brought out a few types of settings and various stones. I quickly found a sapphire center stone flanked by 2 small pear-shapped diamonds that was perfect. When he quoted a price that was a little outside the budget, he didn't try to hard sell me. He just found slightly smaller stones that looked just as beautiful. When I picked up the ring one week later, it was as good as advertised. A year and a half later, my fiancee and I were looking for wedding bands, and Raymond did not disappoint again. Within 10 minutes, he selected a perfectly matching band for my fiance's engagement ring and I found a great titanium band.
