5+++ stars - I was referred to Carl by two friends when I was looking for an engagement ring and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone else! Carl and his brother Paul run a family business and they are simply the best. Carl helped me create not one, but TWO gorgeous engagement rings for my fiance. Allow me to explain. I thought I had a strong idea about what my (then) girlfriend had always envisioned in an engagement ring. I met with Carl and he brought that vision to life. However...less than 48 hours before my planned proposal I learned I didn't have my facts straight and I needed an entirely different cut diamond, entirely my fault. I reached out to Carl and he assured me we could find a new diamond and have it ready to go for the proposal. I met with Carl that same day, picked out a new diamond, and he had the new engagement ring ready for me to pick up the very next day, hours before I proposed. My now fiance is in love with her ring, probably loves it more than she loves me. I could not have pulled this off without Carl. Also, we came back a week later to resize the ring and Paul resized it that very same day. I am surprised there are no Yelp reviews for Schmelzle and Sons. But maybe not, because this family-run, long-established business is very discreet and flies under the radar -- no neon signs at street level here. I was referred to Schmelzle and Sons by a friend, whose husband had had her engagement ring, their wedding bands, and custom jewelry done there in the past. Not to mention his mother, who had been going to them for years. That gives you an idea of the kind of loyalty they inspire. My husband and I went to them with specific design ideas for how we wanted our wedding bands to look, as well as how we wanted to alter my engagement ring, which was an inheritance from my mother-in-law. Paul (one of the Sons) was thoughtful, listened well, and ultimately did excellent work that was exactly what we wanted at a reasonable price. We liked them so much that we went back to them to do some jewelry repair, and even to engrave a trophy for my husband. Paul mentioned to me that they get all of their business through referrals, and I'm not surprised.
