We picked RMA after 2 years of frustrating care at Kindbody. We met with Dr. Thomas Kim on January 2nd, which was the first day that our new insurance coverage kicked in. Immediately, we noticed a significant difference in the level of care in comparison to our old clinic. We felt supported by Dr. Kim and his staff throughout the entire process. The sonographer was absolutely excellent in every way. She was patient, explained what she was seeing on the ultrasounds, and we felt cared for. At our old clinic, my wife was seeing a new face every time she went in an exam room. At RMA, it was either Dr. Kim or the main sonographer, both of whom were excellent. Our nursing staff was "virtual", but that did not cause any gaps or issues in communication. We had 2 nurses during our stint at RMA and both were phenomenal with 0 communication issues and always same-day responses. After consulting with Dr. Kim, we decided to move forward with IVF and knew the odds were stacked against us because of our progressive age (40.8). AI estimates the chance of a live birth from a single IVF cycle at this age is as low as 15%. Imagine our surprise when the egg freezing process resulted in a single euploid (normal) egg and that egg resulted in a successful transfer. Last month we graduated from RMA and are now under the care of an OB for the remainder of the pregnancy. We owe a great deal of gratitude to RMA. Unfortunately, my experience with RMA SoCal began on a very poor note. I was directed to Ashley, the Admin Manager, to ask questions about my consent forms. She became frustrated quickly, spoke to me in a patronizing manner, and repeatedly cut me off while I was speaking. When I asked if I could please finish my sentence, she responded, "No," and said she had other patients to attend to. She then told me that because I would not sign the documents (without having my question answered), my appointment would be canceled and their legal team would contact me. This felt like a major missed opportunity to build trust at the very beginning of care. Consent forms explicitly encourage patients to ask questions, yet when I did exactly that, I was dismissed in a condescending and abrupt manner. The strong pressure to sign documents without discussion, followed by hostility when questions were raised, made me feel uncomfortable and unheard. Even if I do hear back from their legal team, this interaction alone has made me question whether this is a place where patient concerns are respected. I'm sharing this so others are aware of how questions about consent may be handled before deciding to move forward. read more

This is a very personal review for me to post, but I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone. My workplace recently started covering egg freezing, so I figured, why not? I don't currently have any desire to have children, but maybe that'll change one day. During my virtual consultation with Dr. Landay, I explained my situation, and she was incredibly supportive. I immediately felt comfortable with her--she's empathetic, knowledgeable, and kind. One thing I appreciated was that she shared detailed success rates and statistics from other RMA facilities, which really helped me make an informed decision. I had a consultation with another clinic, but they didn't provide that kind of data, so I felt more confident choosing this location. The overall process was, as expected, a lot. It's physically and emotionally exhausting no matter where you go, but the team here made it more manageable. They were super flexible with scheduling--I was able to book appointments as early as 7 AM so I could go before work, which was a huge help. I used my Carrot benefit card at each visit, which simplified the financial aspect. They have an online portal where you can communicate with your nurse, and they're very responsive. That gave me peace of mind throughout the process. The clinic works with Alto Pharmacy, which I found reasonable in terms of pricing. One note: don't make the mistake I did and accidentally order more medication than you need--it's really expensive, so double-check everything! I blame the hormones. I had to go in a few times for ultrasounds, and sometimes I saw a different provider. Fortunately, he was professional and made me feel at ease. On egg retrieval day, the staff did everything they could to make me comfortable. The procedure was quick with twilight sedation, and I recovered fast--I even went back to work the next day. Avoid this clinic. Nightmare billing and terrible communication. This is the worst place for IVF treatment. They focus entirely on extracting every single penny from you while delivering awful service. Our issues started on day one. Our first in-person visit was abruptly changed to a telehealth appointment because the doctor allegedly had a hospital emergency. However, when we logged on, the doctor was sitting right in her office. Meanwhile, the office manager, Ashley, aggressively demanded payment before the virtual appointment could even begin. The lack of competence is staggering. It took the doctor four weeks to review the medical records we uploaded on day one. The communication gap between the clinical and billing staff is severe; billing had no idea when our procedure was starting, delaying our prior authorization. I spent two weeks calling and emailing them. They claimed a system error prevented notifications and that my messages "fell through the cracks," despite seeing my older messages. Furthermore, our insurance company reached out to RMA five times requesting medical records, and Ashley completely ignored them. I believe this clinic is violating California medical billing laws. They force you to pay the full amount upfront and hold your money until the insurance finally pays them. Save your sanity and go elsewhere. read more

During the call, you promised that you will work on pulling the collection mark out of my credit report as I was not supposed to be put on there. It is also against the State & HIPPA laws that RMA directly sends customer to collection without contacting patients first. Save yourself time, money, and emotional distress - do NOT go to RMA SoCal. I've never been so embarrassed or emotionally drained by a doctor or his staff as I was today. You're just another money making machine rather than a doctor's office. My employer offers Maven Gold which provides $50k for fertility treatments. I received RMA's information from the Maven database and called to set up an appointment. During my scheduling call, I asked if they could share the financial responsibility I would be liable for, if at all. They said that I would receive a phone call a few days before the appointment explaining my coverage. My appointment was scheduled for today (Friday, October 18th). I hadn't received a call by Monday of this week so I reached out to the office. I received a call back from Maria in billing on Tuesday. She said that my insurance didn't pull through in their system, despite me inputting it the day I scheduled the appointment, and that she "fixed it". During that call she explained that there are two bundle packages: $1,000 for the consultation with the doctor, ultrasound, two additional appointments with the doctor, and the blood draw. This $1,000 does not include whatever Quest will charge for the blood test results. The second bundle includes the egg retrieval process and medication. The second bundle costs $6,000. She called back the next day to tell me that since I didn't meet my annual deductible yet, I would have out of pocket costs for the $1,000. Plus a portion of the $6,000 bundle. Maria directed me to call maven for a full explanation of my benefits since she wasn't able to provide more details. I called maven and found out that injectable are covered at a different rate than the rest of the treatment. So I called Maria back to get the price of the injectable within the $6,000 bundle however all calls went to voicemail and there was no one else to speak to in billing. Keep in mind that at this point the procedure went from being advertised by maven as completely covered to suddenly I'm going to be laying out at least $3,000 in out of pocket expenses with the full amount TBC. All of last night I stay up debating if I wanted to spend $3,000+ in unexpected costs this year. I ultimately decided that it was worth the investment and that worst case I would move forward with just the consultation. Fast forward meeting Dr. Thomas Kim. The entire consultation he was more interested in talking rather than listening. He didn't ask me anything until after he was finished his presentation on the procedure. I asked how available he would be during the process and he said he'd direct me to a nurse assigned to me in the office. Aka he's not involved other than the ultrasound and the retrieval. I also explained my concerns about my family history and he recommended to move forward with the ultrasound and bloodwork. Since they were a bundled deal I went along with it. Good news is during the ultrasound he mentioned that my uterus and ovaries look like they haven't declined due as much as he would expect for someone my age which I appreciated. Those few sentences were the only positive attribute of the multi-day back and forth with his office. Then he said he would make sure the nurse and billing representative would talk to me before I left. The nurse was nice but just gave me paperwork with her contact details. The billing representative was different than Maria so I explained what Maria had told me. During my conversation with the new rep, I learned that the second bundle is actually $6,500 rather than the originally quoted $6,000 and maven covers 70% rather than the originally quoted 90%. The bundle also doesn't include the injections or anesthesia for the procedure, neither of which were previously mentioned as a separate cost during my multiple calls with Maria. The injections would be between $3-5k additional costs plus $500-600 for anesthesia, another $1,000-2,500 out of pocket which they can't quote until after the round is complete. I asked to speak to the doctor again because I wanted his opinion on if I really needed egg freezing based on what he said about my ovaries and uterus earlier. Instead of sending in the doctor, they sent in an office manager who kept saying "the doctor is unavailable". I explained I'm happy to wait since I took the day off for this. She just kept repeating "the doctor is unavailable" and that I was "wasting my time waiting" even though I mentioned I only need to ask him a quick question. What that woman really meant was the doctor was REFUSING to meet with me again. I left and won't be back to any RMA location in the future. TLDR: Doctor refused to answer patient questions. Office staff are unprofessional and incompetent at their jobs. read more

After 3 years of undiagnosed infertility, I went to Dr Kim at RMA for 3 IUIs which failed, and then for IVF - which was successful. When it comes to their doctors and nursing staff I give them 5 stars. I genuinely believe this is one of the best labs and medical practices for IVF in California. Every person there is calm and patient and knowledgeable. However - I would give zero starts to their billing department, which is based in NJ. I don't know that there's any way around crappy billing. It seems like it's part of all IVF clinics? But, despite the fact that we PRE PAID over $30k, their billing office still makes constant errors and tries to double bill us. Sometimes the bill fails to reflect payments already made. You have to keep ALL of your receipts and payments. Which sucks. But crappy billing is a small inconvenience in the face of fantastic medical staff and success rates. If the goal is a baby - this is the place that achieves the goal. Despite the billing issues, I would use Dr Kim and RMA again without hesitation. And I would absolutely recommend them to others. Good medicine reigns supreme over bad accounting assistants in NJ. FYI: I was 39 when I did my egg retrieval. I had 3 viable embryos from that retrieval. The first embryo implant was successful. I was 8 weeks pregnant on my 40th birthday. read more

It's pretty amazing that Dr. Landay knocked up a 41 year old within 6 months on her first try! I consulted with other RE's that wouldn't even consider me because of my age but Dr. Landay immediately put me on her special protocol to improve my egg quality and it worked! My 1st cycle I was able to get 1 euploid and my 2nd cycle I got 3 normal embryos!!! Dr. Landay is the only doctor that hasn't dismissed my deep pelvic pain and could tell something was off during my ultrasounds. In between cycles she ordered an MRI and it confirmed that I have widespread diffused adenomyosis. Finally I had a diagnosis for my infertility and why I couldn't get pregnant naturally. I went to see Dr. Kim April 2021. I had exhausted my OBs fertility abilities and she recommended I see a specialist. RMA had good reviews and was cheaper than other locations in LA. When I spoke with dr Kim he spoke to me like I was a child and explained fertility with pictures. Maybe that works for some but I'm 35, speak to me like an adult. When I told him I wasn't interested in IVF he essentially said he couldn't help me. I didn't realize fertility clinics only did IVF. While I was there I mentioned I hadn't had my period in 6+ weeks so he said let's do an ultrasound. I was adamant about checking if my insurance covered it and they assured me yes. The ultrasound didn't show anything and he told me my period should come eventually. It's been almost a year and I'm still fighting the bill of that $525 ultrasound. I've called my insurance, RMAs central billing dept and the LA office over 5 times. My insurance says it will cover diagnostic but RMA isn't billing the proper code. My experience as a 37yo that had 2 egg freezing cycles with RMA. After months of research online, having 3 different consultations with 3 different clinics/ Drs. in search of the right provider & clinic for egg freezing, I met with Dr. Kim and his staff, and knew right away I wanted to go through this journey with them. Why I chose Dr. Kim/RMA: My gynecologist gave me a list of reputable fertility clinics when I expressed initial interest in EF and RMA was one of the clinics she mentioned. She had told me even though their branch is fairly new to LA...RMA (headquarters) has been around for a long time and their Labs, protocol, and physicians are the same and are the gold standard in the industry and came highly recommended. During the initial consultation, I immediately felt at ease... Dr. Kim spoke to me in a way that was compassionate, but also very knowledgeable, informative, and realistic when it came to the process and outcome/results. He did not hesitate to answer any and all of my questions (and I had a lot). I could immediately trust that he wanted what was best for me and could trust his expertise. What the Process was like: Financial team was straightforward, no hidden fees/bills, v upfront, and quick to reply. If you have insurance, everything is done in-house which makes it so convenient. The office was professional, nice, and v clean. Almost never a wait. Every appointment was smooth and the nurses are SO SWEET and caring. Shout out to the girls who drew my blood for being so patient. Another big shout out to Dr. Kim's nurse, Merrissa, who was my point of contact. She was so caring, made me feel at ease about everything at every appt, always responsive, and literally so incredibly educated. I always had a million questions and she would take the time to sit down and talk abt everything w me in detail. I appreciated that immensely. Merrissa and the nurses were a big part of my wonderful experience at RMA. Results: Cycle 1: Dr Kim was able to freeze many mature eggs during round one, and was a total success! So happy w the results and experience from the 1st round, I then decided to do another round w them a month later, and happy to say... dr Kim was able to, again, assess, create the perfect protocol for me, and freeze another great round of mature eggs! Was incredibly happy with the first outcome, and ecstatic about the second! Finding the right ivf/meds protocol is a true science and delicate balancing act, and Dr. Kim really has it down to a T w his expertise...and you can trust him fully to get the best outcome possible. The fertility journey can be emotional, exhausting , scary, and exciting (was for me at least) and I am happy to have made the right decision. I can only say good things about my experience at RMA. I've been a patient here through two egg retrievals and one successful embryo transfer. The nurses and entire staff care deeply about every patient and were totally on top of my schedule. I was always able to get an appointment when I needed it and my nurse, Pooja, was exceptional at staying organized with my medication plans. If I ever sent a message, it was responded to in a very timely manner. The only area for growth would be the billing department. You have to stay on top of charges in order to ensure that you are being charged properly. But other than this, I have had a really positive experience at RMA. read more

It was such a pleasure working with Dr. Kim and his team. As anyone who has gone through fertility treatments knows it's at best complicated and at worst extremely stressful and emotional. Although my journey was on a relative scale, extremely streamlined and quick- I was comparing notes with a close friend who had gone through cycles at 4 separate fertility clinics. Compared to my friend's multiple experiences, Dr. Kim, Shelli and his team were amazing at demystifying the process, attentively responding to my body's changes and leading with care and empathy through a stressful process. The results speak for themself! I am pregnant after only one full round. Separately, my husband and I also visited another highly rated Los Angeles area fertility clinic to get his semen tested. It felt chaotic and impersonal. More akin to a fertility mill than a fertility clinic. Dr. Kim's office by comparison is calm and clean, reflecting the personalized care his team delivers. From the RNs to the front desk attendants- everyone in his office delivers top notch service. I wish all of My Dr's offices were like RMA SoCal. read more

Doctors and nursing staff are great, didn't end up using for treatment h however I had some major issues along the way throughout my testing. 1. My lab results had to be taken twice because they lost a set of my blood in the mail and didn't bother to even tell me, until they realised because I didn't get any results.... 2. I received a bill 14 months after my testing, despite calling countless times to ask what I owed to be told it was nothing. 3. It's impossible to get hold of anyone, in particular the billing department. 4. They sent our labs to another clinic and we got an astronomical bill, despite me speaking to the financial advisor at RMA to confirm we were covered. Luckily, we fought the bill and my insurance covered it. 5. Dr Kim, while nice and kind, was very pushy for me to start treatment immediately despite me only trying to naturally conceive for 3 months. I was 37 at the time and he said I missed my window, I naturally conceived at 6 months. Of course you never know and that's his job, but didn't feel like any discussion (even after looking at my tests which implied, with time, that i'd conceive) and just wanted me to jump right in. Would not recommend this clinic although I'm sure many had a positive experience. Just be cautious. Side note, the one good is the girl at the front desk was absolutely lovely and kind. read more

His love of knowledge really comes across and by the end of our first egg freeIng, I could not believe how much I had learned. The office and staff helping out are amazing. They made the egg retrieval process as easy as humanly possible and for my wife, and she felt very comfortable before, during, and after the surgery. Likewise, she was well cared for during the implantation and monitoring that followed. My husband and I came to RMA, for help with our conceiving journey. Our original doctor relocated, and we then received services from Dr. Kim. The entire staff was pleasant, professional and motivating. I knew we would get the assistance we needed. After trying IVF and one failed FET, we decided to go with a couple rounds of IUI. Dr. Kim was informative, direct and reminded us to stay positive throughout our experience. After two cycles, we ended up getting pregnant and now parents of a beautiful baby girl!! I found this clinic and wanted to see if I qualify for their shared risk program. I didn't unless I do a procedure NOT recommended by my ob gyn. Doctor was the best thing about this place. Last I checked they are hiring for a senior embryologist and a billing person. You know what this means? Your embryos are not going to be in the best place and will likely be handled by an underpaid inexperienced lab tech. The billing is the worst part. They straight up refused to even submit a claim to my insurance because i was out of network. You know what that shit means? You're on your own to somehow pay even if your insurance is willing to pay for a portion. In my case 70 percent of the bill would have been covered for out of network. So glad I did not end up going with this clinic. I can't even imagine going through one full Ivf cycle with this place. Final nail in coffin - check out their success rates on SART. It is not so great. Their lab is in no way affiliated with their more successful lab in New Jersey locations because different labs and techs. Haha! read more

I never thought I needed to write a review for ANY companies but I am utterly disappointed by this fertility clinic. First off, Dr. Kim is did not listen to what I wish to try, not even letting me have the choice to tell myself that I can no longer have a biological child. He just destroyed even the smallest hope I have for myself. Now, after 1 year and 4 months, I receive a bill?!?! I have been paying everything in cash when I visited him and with 0 help from him, I get a billing. I am not being told that there is any outstanding bill when I paid my last billing in 03/27/19 and now i get a bill that is for 03/11/19. Utterly disappointed with this organization and there are not the ones that help me with my current pregnancy. read more

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Kim and the rest of the RMA team. From the start, I felt like I was being treated like an individual, not just a number. By my second or so appointment, I felt like the entire staff knew me. I really liked that I could easily get to a person during their business hours and didn't have to play phone tag with leaving messages. They were on time for all my appointments and I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. My appointments were efficient and respected my time. Dr. Kim's demeanor was just what I needed, straightforward and clear, but still kind. I also had a great experience with all the nurses, the front desk staff, and the billing staff. We were trying to get pregnant for 3 years and nothing was happening. We saw Dr. Green around the beginning of April of 2019. We had a good experience with her. We did an ultrasound and blood work that same day of our first appointment. She told me I had PCOS because I had a lot of follicles in my ovaries. She also gave me a prescription for metformin. I took it for 2 month and we got pregnant in July 2019. Now we're 30 weeks pregnant with our baby boy. We definitely will come back when we're ready for our second one. read more

As a 41 single woman, I decided to freeze my eggs and I knew going in for a consult that I was on the latter end of being able to do such a procedure, but Dr. Green made me feel comfortable the moment I met her! She was completely transparent and educated me on the statistics, and all the details that would ensue during the cycle and I decided it was worth it. She was also super kind to me during all the office visits and had the most gentle bedside manner. BEWARE. Good doctors but GREEDY PRACTICE. They "discounted" my bill since I was a cancer patient preserving my eggs before treatment and they told me to appeal whatever charges I could through my insurance. I paid the bill in full on time. A YEAR LATER they sent me a bill for charges unpaid by my insurance (basically the balance of what the full non-discounted charges were), which is now outside the 6 month insurance appeal window. I called several times to try to settle the bill like adults over the course of several months with no call backs. Absolutely DISGUSTING behavior. They have likely my only chance of having children sitting in their freezer! Meanwhile I'm busy fighting for my life and do not need the added stress and expense on top of all of my treatment costs!!!! I NEVER write reviews but this was justified. And yes this actually happened and I am an actual customer/patient posting under an alias for privacy reasons. . Update in response to Anna below: No, these were not storage charges. The storage charges were added onto the itemized balance of $850. I have no problem paying the storage fees as it's part of the contract. I even paid for office visits and other things I never received as I only had time for one retrieval cycle before I needed to start treatment. It all happened very fast and your office took advantage. Respectfully, I'm not going to waste any more of my time or energy trying to reach someone at your office. read more

Dr. Kim is wonderful, attentive, relaxed and has so much experience. He took the time to answer all our questions, explained things to expect and although he is busy and working with a number of other patients, always seemed to recall all the important details of my treatment. All the staff at RMA are amazing, I never waited more than a few mins to be seen which I have heard from those who have gone to other fertility clinics that they sometimes had long waits even with an appointment. Much of my interaction was with their nurse, Shelli who is phenomenal and always provided me with updates/results soon after my appointment. Dr. Kim changed my life! My medical history with fibroids, cyst and endometriosis caused me to believe I would never conceive. A friend (now god mother to my child) referred me to Dr. Kim. Dr Kim is the most empathetic, patient and understanding fertility doctor. If you want good bedside manner this is the place to be. Not only was that important for me so was his knowledge on inferiority. Since he personally has been down this road he understood the hardship and emotional toll this has on his patients. He is considerate of your needs and for me financially it was a big deal being a single mom by choice. He is very strategic on his approach, and wont "just try" and waste your money. He is honest and forthcoming about what is best for each situation. There are many fertility doctors in Los Angeles and I've been to two different clinics. Wonderful doctor, nurses and staff. I felt very taken care of going through multiple rounds of IUI and finally a successful round of IVF. I never had a problem getting an appointment for days/times that worked for me and they were very cautious and considerate during the COVID pandemic as well. I was always able to get someone on the phone or through their email/secure message line; I know friends who went with larger offices who never had a consistent point of contact throughout and feel grateful that I knew pretty much every person in Dr. Kim's office by name (and they knew me by name as well). read more

I cannot say enough good things about the experience I had with the entire staff at RMA SoCal, particularly with Dr. Kay Green. I had been apprehensive about freezing my eggs simply because it's such a large expenditure (that is not covered by insurance) & there are no guarantees of the outcome. However, from my first appointment at RMA on, I felt safe, comfortable and like I was in the hands of the most skilled professionals possible. They were comforting and transparent with me every step of the process weighing the pros & cons. Dr. Green worked with me to set up a whole calendar and game plan to go off birth control, begin the meds, etc, etc. up until my retrieval. I have a very hectic travel schedule for work and the fact that she was so willing to talk out all the details (both constantly over email & phone/office visits) made me feel less nervous about the entire process. Once I got into the almost daily bloodwork & ultrasounds I was exposed to the rest of the office staff which includes the BEST nurse ever. She was a joy to see each morning and made it a breeze to get my blood taken (it barely hurt). From there, Dr. Green was incredibly available and responsive over email to assuage all my fears as I had many many questions about the shots. I was quite scared, but she made sure I was equipped to handle doing the shots myself. They honestly weren't even as bad as I would have thought. Once it came time for my retrieval both Dr. Green & Dr. Kim did the procedure together. It was quick, easy and painless and we had really good results. I cannot say enough good things about this practice and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. If you are on the fence about egg freezing, IVF, etc. I would reco you at least get a consult. You will feel the good energy abounding from this place and the amazingly talented doctors/nurses that work there. I am forever grateful that I did this as an insurance policy for my future.
