I researched doctors extensively before beginning my egg freezing process with Dr Chavkin at Pacific Fertility Partners, and now that I'm on the other side of it, I'm so, so glad I worked with her. Dr Chavkin is thorough, serious in the way you want your doctors to be, and very warm and personable. She's reassuring during the entire process: from initial consult, to meds, to surgery--and her team of nurses are incredible. There's a bit of a learning curve in freezing your eggs, but Dr Chavkin and her team are very clear about what's going on with your body, and how to self-administer the meds. These days you hear so many stories (especially in the fertility world), of doctors pushing your body to accommodate the hospital's schedule, but that wasn't the case with Dr Chavkin or PFCLA at all! Dr Chavkin was patient and methodical with how my body was responding to the meds and I feel great about how she steered my meds cycle. The egg retrieval itself went extremely well. I felt like I was in great hands, which helped with the anxiety of going under, and I experienced minimal pain/discomfort after. (For context: I went through my retrieval at 36 and a 1/2.) I couldn't recommend Dr Chavkin more, and I mention her to any of my friends who are curious about egg freezing. read more

Dr. Chavkin was awesome, kind, sympathetic, empathetic, and thoughtful in her approach to helping my partner and I on our path towards parenthood. There is a directness about her that I appreciate as a New Yorker, and a sense that she respected us as humans rather than simply numbers. We went through two retrievals, and one frozen embryo transfer. I was lucky enough to get pregnant on my first try, and we, "graduated," at 10 weeks. Not going to lie, the entire process sucks and it's invasive, and full of ups and downs. I had a few scares before graduating and the team was amazing at keeping me calm and kept reminding me to think positively. Dr. Chavkin exuded confidence that my pregnancy would stick, and that energy gave me faith that the worries/anxieties were all in my head. She presented clear information backed by science, data, and a methodical approach to our fertility treatment. She didn't hesitate to wait things out for a few days before moving forward with the next course of treatment to make sure we did everything right, and didn't rush anything. Given the cost of fertility treatments, you want someone to take it carefully, even if it means some delay. There were some early communication misfires with HRC staff. Between our first nurse quitting/getting fired in the midst of our treatment (meaning we didn't get any of our questions answered for over a week, and to the point of the new nurse not knowing we were patients), and some appointment booking issues, we were ready to leave HRC. However, we didn't want to lose Dr. Chavkin as a doctor, so we stuck around. Glad we did. Once communication issues were fixed, we were happy with Maria (their phlebotomist), Joanna and Dr. Chavkin. She's absolutely wonderful, and if our success rate says anything, you'll want her as your RE. read more

Dr. Chavkin and her team were fantastic. My husband and I chose to freeze our embryos since we are not yet ready to have children, and Dr. Chavkin was with me for every ultrasound, and answered every question I had (and there were tons). Her clinical staff was very responsive as well. This was my first time going through this process, so I had a ton to learn. She is very personable and approachable. It is so clear that she cares about her patients and their outcomes. It made us much more comfortable going through this. After my retrieval - I had a tougher recovery (due to being sensitive to the medications - no fault of Pacific Fertility at ALL) and Dr. Chavkin and her team checked up on me every day, and brought me in for additional ultrasounds to ensure I was healing properly. I am 3 weeks post retrieval and basically back to normal. Finally, we had an AMAZING result...and could not be happier. Of course I'm thrilled to be writing this review the day of our "graduation" from HRC and 10 weeks into a healthy pregnancy, but regardless of the outcome of my fertility treatment, I would have the same positive things to say. Dr. Chavkin was the second RE that I met with, and I knew right away that she was who I wanted to work with. She is very through and was always honest and direct about what to expect. I am someone who wants to know EVERYTHING and I never run out of questions, and Dr. Chavkin always took the time to explain what we were doing, and the rationale behind it. I found Dr. Chavkin while researching multiple clinics and attending free seminars/consultations to learn more about IVF. Her presentation was the most professional, and I knew the search for my RE (reproductive endocrinologist) was over! Her empathy and calm voice made me feel absolutely safe, and I also trusted her even more because she has been through it herself. She referred me to an endometriosis surgeon, and after 2 rounds of FET, I had a successful pregnancy. Throughout this super anxious process, Dr. Chavkin was available to answer my questions & call back same day even on weekends unlike other doctors who charge per call. Dr. Chavkin was absolutely wonderful to work with for my first egg freezing cycle. We started my cycle earlier than I was anticipating but Dr. Chavkin was clear that we would only start if I was ready. She has a great bedside manner and was very realistic about what she expected of my cycle and was able to relay her thoughts and concerns in a way that wasn't scary or daunting. She did every ultrasound during my monitoring appointments which was important to me because I felt that she actually knew and saw how my body was responding to the medications and could make adjustments as needed. I think Dr Chavkin is fine if you're looking for a smooth running office and a perfectly capable fertility doctor. However, half the battle of fertility treatment is communication - properly managing expectations and dealing with complex patient feelings as they're going through this journey and this is where Dr Chavkin falls short. Unlike other fertility offices, she does do the ultra-vaginal ultra-sounds, but isn't very communicative as she does them (in comparing notes with other friends going through this treatment they usually received much more information on how things were developing). In my case, I had a bad outcome with no embryos achieved after 13 days of treatment. Instead of getting a call, I got a portal message telling me this after an excruciating week of waiting (during which I also thought I had a UTI - her office recommendation - just go to urgent care?) I got a call 8 hours later from the nurse (not the doctor). I also got 2 additional tests per the doctors request - and results were sent to her (abnormal results) and I followed up a few times and got no response from her. I think she was waiting for me to tell her I wanted to do another round of IVF. If you are a straightforward case you might be fine here but if there are any bumps along the road (which there usually are) you'd be better off finding someone more sympathetic. Which - if you're paying $20,000 for an elective procedure usually out of desperation - should be the minimum standard of care. This clinic really did leave me with the sense that they prioritize churning patients through vs custom & quality care. read more

This review is a long overdue. I'm lucky to say it's because we've been busy with a very healthy now 8 month old! IVF is an extremely tough journey. Every emotion is heightened, there are a lot of appointments! The people you choose to surround yourself with is vital to your comfort, support and for decreasing stress levels. Dr. Chavkin was the most calming, compassionate and empathetic doctor we could have wished for. Every visit, every communication was reassuring, informative and easy. I was stressing and constantly thinking about the future and had a ton of "what ifs"... Dr. Chavkin helped remind me to just enjoy each day, each week with what I had. Sure enough after going in week after week for checkups, each week with the mindset of enjoying the pregnancy, we reached "graduation", cleared the first trimester and was in a great place to move on to care with my OB. I'm confident that her gentle cheerleading and wonderful support and words of encouragement helped me keep the bad thoughts (and the bad chemicals that are produced!) at bay and helped me through. Dr Chavkin was our doctor in Brooklyn (before she moved to CA), upon the recommendation of the head of the OB/GYN Department of our hospital, and we feel so incredibly fortunate to have worked with her. She is easily accessible as your doctor, she engenders trust through her interactions, and she always walked us through every stage patiently and thoroughly. I was one of Dr. Chavkin's patients when she was at Genesis Fertility clinic, and from our first visit, up until our positive pregnancy test, my husband and I were at ease about the IVF process. We've been postponing it due to the emotional nature of my family's infertility journey, but what better way to celebrate being 28 weeks pregnant with a beautiful baby girl than thanking the wonderful people who were instrumental in making our dream come true. I cannot fully express in words how indebted my husband and I are for the amazing support we've received from Dr. Diana Chavkin and her team at HRC West LA. We met Dr. Chavkin in May 2018 when we embarked on our IVF journey. Together, we have gone through surgeries to remove a uterine septum, two IVF cycles, PGD testing for our embryos and one successful embryo transfer earlier this year. I work in the healthcare field and I can say without hesitation that Dr. Chavkin is one of the most committed and kind physicians I have ever worked with. Her bedside manner is incredible and I wish she could have supervised our entire pregnancy and delivered our baby. Dr. Chavkin invested her heart, time and energy in helping us succeed and we will forever be grateful to her. We were also fortunate to get to work with the extended team at the West LA office, starting with our nurse, Wendy, and her backup, Rochelle, Jessica at the front desk, Isabel in finance and Maria, the phlebotomist. We also got to meet some of the other doctors at HRC's West LA and Encino offices and had a wonderful experience each of the 5 times we visited the surgery center in Encino. Additionally, HRC's embryology lab is managed by an amazingly talented team, who was able to navigate the intricate process of coordinating two rounds of embryo biopsies and testing with a couple of different genetic testing companies that worked on our case. Dr. Chavkin is truly the best, and we selected her based on reviews from her patients in NYC, where she practiced before moving to California. We encourage other couples who are struggling with infertility or a family history of genetic disease to connect with Dr. Chavkin and her team. Could not recommend more highly. After struggling for years to conceive, my gynecologist referred me to an infertility clinic in Brooklyn, NY in the fall of 2013. I was under the guidance of an infertility doctor who started me off with IUI's. After four failed attempts, we requested to be transferred to another infertility doctor. We were then referred to Dr. Diana Chavkin. Dr. Chavkin was very direct, patient, empathetic, and quite knowledgeable in her field. She listened very closely to our concerns and explained the next steps towards helping me to conceive. We tried our first IVF treatment, but it failed. Dr. Chavkin reviewed my medical chart and adjusted the treatments as I prepared for my second IVF treatment. Unfortunately, the second IVF treatment failed. I was devastated and I considered giving up, but we tried again. As Dr. Chavkin prepped me for my third IVF attempt, she did everything she could to make sure my timing was right. She thoroughly reviewed my medical chart to determine what may have caused my previous three IVF's to have failed. She adjusted my medication dosages and she reviewed my blood levels carefully. Dr. Chavkin totally controlled my body and she was determined to make sure everything was done in perfect timing because she did not want me to ovulate. By and behold, in the fall of 2014, I became pregnant with not one child, but twin boys. To this day, I am impressed by her determination and persistence to help me to conceive. I was referred to HRC fertility by my OBGYN. After researching myself, I found that they offered a free consultation appointment if you went to a seminar....this was VERY helpful as it was my first step into the fertility world and paying 100% out of pocket was scary so any way to get more information at no cost was a huge plus. I attended the seminar and Dr. Chavkin was the speaker. She provided a great amount of information and was very engaging - I knew at that moment this was the right place and the right person to help me! I had been in contact with two other fertility clinics but HRC provided the quick responsiveness and help getting me started. I attended the consult, we did a round of additional testing to determine (in)fertility and laid out my path for egg freezing. Every person in the office was super cheerful and helpful with any request. My husband and I knew we would never be able to conceive without doing in vitro fertility treatments due to our medical histories and I was very nervous because I knew that many people require multiple rounds of IVF before conceiving and there was no way we would be able to afford trying more than once.
