We stayed the night in Bakersfield with our rig and when we parked we realized we had a broken leaf. RMs quoted $400 for parts and $1200 labor to replace all 4 leafs. They had to order the parts and they would come in the next day. I called around and found a place to buy the parts, $330 out the door including new Ubolts that this place did not mention. Then I found another place to replace them for $345 labor. With the tire I purchased the whole job was $1170 instead of $2200. I gave them 3 stars because they were going to work me in the next day but I truly felt the high cost was taking advantage of our situation of being out of towners and an emergency. read more

Robert saved our vacation when the toilet in our rental RV broke on day 1. He went out of his way to find a new one and picked it up so it was ready to be installed as soon as I got there. The installation was done very quickly and properly. From the time I pulled until I left was ~ 1 hour. We were travelling about 300 miles from home when our slideout got stuck in the extended position and wouldn't retract. That meant it couldnt be driven or towed. Tried several mobile RV firms without success before Robert of RM's R V answered the phone near closing time. He spent time with me on the phone walking me through possible solutions. Even though his company no longer does mobile service (their in-shop appointments are booked out several weeks) he agreed to come out the next morning. He arrived as promised, quickly found the issue (a protruding bolt head impeding the mechanism) and got us back on the road. His service call fee was reasonable, and he took the time to clean and lubricate the mechanism and give me tips for maintaining it. We have used RM RV Service for many years. They have always gone above and beyond to fix any problems we have had with out 2004 Sunnybrook 5th wheel. It is now getting old and Sunnybrook was sold many years ago. Everyone at RM has gone above and beyond to keep it in working condition. Until this year nothing major has happened but this year the main slide gear box stopped working. Nobody makes that part anymore. Richard tried everywhere to locate a part that would work. Finally persistence paid off and he was able to find a rebuilt part. I think any other repair place would have given up but not Richard. We tried out the rig last weekend and it worked like a charm. They may be okay if you can wait for a month or more to get it in to their shop and two months in there shop for repairs. And they won't let us live in the trailer while being worked on. We live in our trailer so this was just not a option for us. read more

We were on our first outing with our "new-to-us" motor home. While we thought everything was in working order when we left Oregon, we found that we were unable to get any hot water. We had been on the road 3 days and without having any hot water for showers, we were getting desperate. We reached out to Yelp for a mobile RV repair service and were put in touch with RM's RV Service. They were very responsive and were willing to come to the RV resort at which we had reservations that night, but their requirements for insurance for anyone to do work on RVs in their park were prohibitive, so he agreed to meet with us at his work location that very afternoon. We went directly to his shop and he diagnosed the problem, but because the vendor of the hot water heater we had was not open, he asked us to come back first thing the next morning. We did that and he contacted the vendor and was walked through some possible solutions. After only about an hour, working with the guy who knew about the type of water heater we had, the system was working and we were on our way (with a great deal of gratitude!). I would recommend these guys to ANYONE who happens to be in the Bakersfield area with an RV problem! read more

We're up in Tehachapi with our motorhome and started to level our motorhome, when it quit leveling. We then tried to put the levelers up, but nothing would happen. We first called the leveler manufacturer, and they gave us instructions on what to do, but nothing they gave us worked. I then called several other RV repairs and didn't get any help from them, until we called RM's RV Service. Robert talked to us over the phone, had us do a couple of things, take photos of the pump components, and told us what to do. With his guidance, we were finally off the levelers. The worst experience I've ever had doing business with anyone in Bakersfield. I'm not a person to typically leave a bad review or not give someone the benefit of the doubt however I feel like I was completely treated wrong. I called RM's RV service on July 10th during my lunch hour and was advised that they were booked up and the soonest availability the 20th. I explained that my work hours are from 8-5pm and noticed the Yelp site showed they were open 8-6pm M-F. I chose to do business here because I figured this was perfect and I could drop off and pick up the motorhome after I get off work at 5pm. I was told however that it would be okay to bring my motorhome in on the 20th at 7am before work and that they would call me the Friday beforehand to confirm "we were still on" for the appointment. The Friday came and went and I heard nothing from RM's RV to confirm. So I called them at 5:30pm Friday (open until 6pm per Yelp) and I was unable to speak to anyone so I left a detailed voicemail stating I did not get a call from them to confirm but wanted to let them know I was still keeping the appointment for Monday to drop off before work. Monday morning, I get there and nobody is there. At this point I was frustrated. I left my motorhome with the keys and went to work. I called at 7:16am and left them a message that the motorhome was there as planned and that I'm not sure why nobody was there to meet me however to call me when they got in to confirm receipt. I received a call from Darin at 8:15am who was very pleasant. He said they had no record of me having an appointment. I explained what had happened and he apologized and said we would touch base with me during lunch that day if he needed any further details. I didn't hear anything back so I called them at 12:30pm during lunch and had to leave a voicemail. I requested a call back. Today, Tuesday July 21st I called at 5:10pm to get status on the motorhome and see what was going on. I spoke to Robert who was completely unprofessional and rude from the start. He stated they didn't have any information and I felt he was trying to cover himself instead of actually apologizing for whatever miscommunication that had happened. I told him that I wanted to pick up the motorhome since I felt as if I had gotten the runaround and such poor communication and customer service thus far. At this point I was told they were closed. When I explained that they have their hours listed until 6pm, he again tried to say I was in the wrong and they are open until 5 then take call until 6. When I showed him the Yelp site, he seemed confused and asked why I was telling him that. When I said it seems confusing for them to close up shop at 5pm however their hours are listed until 6pm, he again didn't seem to care and again was rude. The entire experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I felt like I was being called a liar for their lack of proper scheduling and follow through. RM'S RV Service gave our 3 week RV trip starting in Bakersfield a huge boost. The first night out the slide on our LTV Class C would not extend. We called RM'S the next morning, drove right down and were serviced as soon as we got there. This, on a busy Friday before Easter. It took less than an hour to diagnose, reprogram the control board, and lubricate the slides. The price was so reasonable. Late last month (Jul 19), my family and I were stranded in our RV in Bakersfield at 2:30am on a Friday morning!. We called around and RM's RV Service was recommended by Camping World. RM's said they could take us and stayed open during their lunch hour for our arrival. They worked non-stop through the day and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced, but they couldn't order a replacement until Monday. In the meantime, they helped us find a hotel and worked with us while we made other arrangements. These gentlemen came in on Saturday, their day off, and helped us transfer our belongings from our RV to another. We left our RV with them and continued on our vacation. During the time they had our RV, they kept in constant contact and fixed the RV the following week (fuel pump, new house batteries, checked and confirmed everything worked). My primary compliment here is not just the EXCELLENT repair job these guys did, but the hospitality they showed me and my family. They went above and beyond what was necessary. That made a HUGE difference in allowing us to enjoy the remainder of our vacation. I would definitely use them again if needed. read more

On 06/09/16, we had a slide problem on our motorhome and were unable to get the slide to retract in. Robert and his helper patiently worked on a difficult problem due to broken gearing. We needed to get back on the road that day to attend our granddaughter's graduation at UC Santa Cruz. They kept working until they got the jammed slide in so that we could continue our trip. They were prompt, polite, patient and efficient. We wish their business was in the area we live. Great group! I called Richard with 17 days remaining until my boondociking trip and a possibly failed inverter. RM's validated the inverter failure, upgraded my inverter to a true sine inverter, installed my upgraded charger/converter and got me out the door 2 days before my trip. When leaving Jackson, we had an issue with our step not retracting. Needing to get to our next destination, we took extra care to stay to the left and made it to Bakersfield RV Resort safely. Rich Martinez and one of his guys was working on a "spaceship" a couple of spaces down. I approached and asked if he could look at what I thought was a simple repair. He said that if he had time between appointments he'd look at it for me. Well...it wasn't simple, but he was able to remove the defective motor and gearbox and tie up the step so we could safely proceed home. These guys know what they are doing, are reasonable in price, and are on my permanent list of trusted repair people in this area of the state. We first used RM RV Service over 6 years ago (maybe more) when I saw there very professional clean service truck on the road. I basically chased them down to get their number listed in their truck. We have had RVs for many years and as anyone who has a RV and/or boat knows there is always something that needs attention. It may be an roadside emergency- the worse or small things you need to get taken care of before you head out on next trip. RM (Robert and Richard) have helped us out too many times to count. They have come to us at Bakersfield RV Resort - a nice place to stay in Bakersfield, we have gone to their large (and busy) shop off White Lane and we have even called them from the road to get their advice. Each time they have solved our problem(s). The knowledge they have is amazing! If there is something they aren't familiar with they (not you) spend the time either on the computer to research or call the manufacturer. We have a Monoco Class A and trust no one except Robert and Richard for any type of repair or improvement. They added a propane BBQ and replaced TV for our outside compartments- so they do more than just repairs. read more

Pulled onto Bakersfield for a few day layover. It was the weekend of course, so when I needed to pull in my pop out to reach something, I wasn't worried at all that it wouldn't go back out, but it didn't. Made some calls and everyone was booked out for several days. However when I called these guys I spoke to Robert. He said that the most common reason this problem happens is due to a gear box failure. He said he had the part and would sell it to me, and he would teach me how to do the repair myself. I was hesitant but I was in a bind. I looked up the part before going over to see him and got some prices. When I met Robert, he was friendly and professional. The part he showed me was the part described and it was still in its factory wrapper. The price was fair and competitive. He then drew me a diagram and explained what needed to be done. I then went back to my RV, and after several hours I got it fixed. Probably took me much longer than it would take him, but I know he saved me money.
