This was a simple road stop for me. I hiked all morning and needed some lunch. All the restaurants were at overload in their parking area, but there was space here. At noon, there was space for me at the bar. I was seated immediately. After a quick glance at the menu I ordered up a 1/2 Back of Ribs and some soda. In three, maybe four minutes, the ribs were there. Service was right on. Ribs were cooked perfectly, fell off the bone and not overcooked. Cole Slaw was homemade. Ribs were $21 plus tax and it was worth it. Music was good, someone from the 80's had taken care of the selection and the staff was bopping around. Clean. Nice experience for a person dining solo. My daughters and I were in Gorham after being atop Mt. Washington. We hadn't had BBQ in some time so decided to try out Road hawg. We're glad we did. We started with the pulled pork nachos which were plenty for 4 and loaded with cheese, olives, queso, and pickled jalapeños, with pulled pork of course. They had just come out of the oven or salamander and were nice and crisp. Super good. For my main I had the brisket sandwich with Cole slaw. The meat was piled high and warm with a nice bbq sauce. Super simple and tasty. The Cole slaw was of the creamy variety with no or not much vinegar. IT was solid as well. Nice spot, lots of people, and our server was super nice. read more

I hate to do this in such a terrible market for small businesses, but I have to. Overall this was not great. The menu was tough to navigate. The fries tasted like they were warmed up in a microwave and pork dumped on top. The BBQ sauce was nothing special. The pulled pork didn't have any smoke taste to it and didn't seem smoked. The poutine was sad, literally looked like a can of gravy was just dumped over it. Overall everything was very bland. The only thing I'd recommend was the wings, they were actually pretty good. I'd recommend refining the menu and investing back in good quality food. As for now this is a pass. read more

I'd been craving fried chicken for weeks, and Road Hawg did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy and tender. The cole slaw was great too.

We stopped in here after hiking mount Washington the food was okay. Ya just okay sadly. The pulled pork sandwich was okay, the nachos were very average at best. Thanks for being open, first off. Disappointing we had such a hard time getting football turned on in the bar during week 4 of the season. The bartender repeated over and over again that she didn't like sports. Husband's brisket sandwich was dry. I asked if I could get 3 or 4 fried chicken wings instead of their pre-selected 4 pieces (breast, thigh, leg and one wing). No. Ugh, I hate it when they say no when I'm paying. I was informed I could order chicken wings but those are the tiny appetizer and not fried. Their ranch dressing was total shit. Literally from a packet and it was an off brand. It sucked and cost us an extra $1.50. We would look for another place next time we were in the area but it might be difficult given that barely any businesses seemed open at noon on a Sunday during football/fall foliage season. read more

The only reason I gave 3 vs 4 stars was that their meat items we tried were way better than their sides. We tried the ribs and pulled pork sandwhich which both were amazing and I'd recommend. The garlic mashed potatoes were decent. Bitchin baked beans were really good. Coleslaw had too much of an acidic taste for me. Go here for good bbq but skip the sides. Since this about the only place open decided to give it a shot. The food was very good. But I'd have to say that the appetizer special of Cajun wedges was very good considering it was just seasoned potato wedges with cheese dipping sauce, was a little pricey. The slow cooked roasted beef, I was told was very satisfying even though it was pulled beef and not slices with hand cut fries. I had the mother cluckin chicken. We came to Gorham for the Columbus Day weekend, and had seen on Yelp about this place. I love BBQ, the reviews were ok, so we tried it. We got a combo of fried chicken, Brisket sandwich and the onion rings. The onion rings were quite greasy, the brisket sandwich was ok, not great. But, the fried chicken was fabulous.. 7/31/18 Returned last weekend and bingo - they moved into the restaurant and had a "soft opening". Very impressive rehab. Kind of industrial chic decor. Big, comfortable, very clean. Metal bar stools, natural wood tables with nice resin finish, phone charging outlets built into the outer edge of the bar. Expanded menu with blackened catfish, chicken, and other changes. I had a special of the day - blackened catfish taco with their excellent fresh cut french fries, $5 - super deal!! They seem to be doing everything right! read more

Swine dining says it best. We started with nachos we should have stop there, they weren't very good. Next we moved onto the pulled pork sandwich and quesadilla they were ok but the pulled pork sandwich were supposed to come with fries and cole slaw, they were put on someone else's plate that's what the waitress told us. The macaroni and cheese with bacon was like tasteless mush the side of ribs were burnt and there bbq sauce is basically ketchup with some vinegar added. This place should be a drive by. Some of the worst customer service I've experienced. Bryce, who answered the phone was clearly annoyed immediately and couldn't care less if he helped me or I placed an order. I called to place a pick up order and asked if the steak could be replaced with something else as I don't eat beef, he audibly sighed and said he'd ask the kitchen. He came back to tell me they couldn't so I asked if could order it without the beef and if it would be cheaper if so. He said he wasn't sure and didn't feel like asking the kitchen anything else, and asked me if I could just order something else. The flag banner said they offer breakfast. Little surprised about breakfast in a BBQ place - we were running out of options. I ordered the biscuits and gravy along with the over easy eggs. Man oh man was this some of the best gravy on a biscuit ever!!! The Sausage in the gravy was meaty, large size pieces and great flavor - the waitress said that they get their meat fresh from one of the local purveyors. My wife had the vanilla pancakes along with scrambled eggs - she really enjoyed them - no syrup necessary. I need to return for breakfast again and come back for the BBQ. read more

My brother and I stopped in to Road Hawg for lunch based on reading reviews in Yelp. It sounded good, but we were absolutely blown away by the incredible food and the wonderful service. We had the ribs (great), the baked beans (incredible), the brussels sprouts (fantastic), and the fried chicken (this was hands-down the best in the world, prepared by chef Gerald apparently from his grandmother's recipe). This had to be one of the great meals I have had in my life, and because I live in New York City and eat at restaurants frequently, I've had a lot of experience. The atmosphere is totally friendly and laid-back--after eating our sublime meal, we went to talk to the chefs, who were open and friendly, chatted with us for a while. The waitresses are also great. It is a truly amazing place, with consistently fabulous food and friendly, great service. read more

Meh. I got the jambalaya which was huge and quite tasty. 5 shrimp, tons of chicken and plenty of andouille. The man got a combo plate of ribs, roast beef (why not brisket?!) French fries and coleslaw. The fries were ok, not terribly hot, the ribs were good but not enough to feed an ant (3 pieces about 3 inches long each), the coleslaw was warm and the roast beef was absolutely inedible. We think the beef had gone rancid. Vomit inducing! We thought about taking it with us to throw in the woods tomorrow but even a starving animal doesn't deserve that swill! read more

Came up for lunch before our Mount Washington tour. Not a lot to choose from in Gorham, but THIS IS THE PLACE. Friendly staff, great award-winning BBQ and ribs. Lots more on the menu than we saw on Yelp. Nice little bar and beer. Do yourself a favor and check them out. read more
