Thank God my cat is not dead from Roadrunners awful mistake!
Mae T.

THIS PHARMACY POISONED MY CAT!! There is no option to give 0 stars, so here we are. I would also like to note, this incident happened 2 years ago, and i have been festering my feelings towards this establishment since then, and i felt called to warn others of my story. My cat takes Fluoxetine for anxiety. At the time he was taking 3mg of this medication mixed in his wet food at night for dinner. We received his new refill and slowly over a 3 day period our cat would not finish his dinner, which forced us to give him his medication separately by mouth. So for the following 3 days we were forcing a pill down his throat, giving him no option but to take his full 3mg dose. Side note: you CANNOT cut out these types of meds cold turkey so we knew we had to force him to take it, even though we could tell he was starting to act a little weird. In the middle of the night on the 3rd night of him getting the full dose, i woke up to my cat howling and screaming followed by projectile vomiting and more howling. We rushed him to an er vet where they concluded that he had ingested some type of poison and was on the brink of dying. That vet suggested checking on a few things in our home as well as following up on the new bottle of medication we he just received to make sure nothing in the compound had changed. WELL....... After waiting an entire day to hear back, Roadrunner notified us that they had in fact made a mistake. Instead of compounding his medication at a 3mg dose, THEY COMPOUNDED IT AT 30MG DOSE!!!! THIRTY MG!!!!!!!!! In turn POISONING OUR INNOCENT SWEET CAT WITH MEDICATION THAT HIS POOR LITTLE BODY ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT HANDLE. And would you like to know how they compensated there mistake after A LOT of fight on our end for this result....... They covered the 1 bottle of medication and the emergency vet bill. This alone is an absolute shame. And i beg you please take your business else where. I understand mistakes happen but this is completely unacceptable. PERIOD. Luckily, our story ended with our sweet boy making It through, but i fear it could not end that way for all if this were to happen to someone else.

Packaged meds and dog toy

So far so good. Tricki the petulant papillon needed some meds for her tumultuous tummy issues so my vet recommended Roadrunner for her compounding needs. I got a call the same day Tricki's doc called in the prescription and the person on the phone went over the type of med, costs, compounding dosage, flavor (Mm vanilla butternut?), and asked if I had any other questions. The order was shipped to me in 2 days I think and it was very nicely packaged. Everything was secured with a layer of bubble wrap and there were detailed instructions included. It even came with a cute dog toy! I do have those worries about compounding in general since you're at the mercy of the person making your med to make sure they are mixing everything in the right concentration but as far as I know everything's been fine giving my dog her meds. Apparently vanilla butternut is an A-OK flavor to add to my pupper's dog food because I've had no problems getting her to eat her specially medicated kibble!

My experience was absolutely fantastic. The shipments I needed for a compound medication for my dog were prompt, accurate, and they worked!

We had a virtual urgent care call and they were concerned enough that we brought him into The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic to check in on him. After an ultrasound, they found that he had a mass on his spleen and was internally bleeding, and had to go into immediate overnight emergency surgery. The surgery was successful, and after a 36 hour hospital stay, Barkley is back home and on the mend. While this was such a scary experience and few days, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic and their team. They are open 24/7/365, and provided around the clock care. Because of the length of his stay, we worked with and spoke to multiple of their veterinarians and assistants (thank you to Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Fleming, Dr. Goldberg, and Dr. Blackmon), and everyone was so kind, attentive, and caring through every step of the process, gave us calls throughout the night with updates and over the past few days to check in on Barkley's progress, and were so compassionate in all of the care they provided. Barkley was in such great hands. Thank you to the The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic team!

Not long after checking them out my pup told me it was time and we went immediately to them on a Friday morning when they opened. They had the perfect room for him. It was the corner one with the big window. My pup loved being outside and it was the perfect spot for him, he stared outside the window into nature. They gave us a whole cart of treats to give to him and the doctor and staff was so kind and compassionate. The staff from the very first time we walked in to the time I was called to pick his ashes up was absolutely amazing. It was the only time they truly saw him and it felt like they had cared for him so many times before. I couldn't of ask for a better place and staff to have my dog cared for. They were so kind to us and even complimented on how good he was but that was his demeanor, he was always kind and sweet. Thank you Scottsdale animal Hospital! The vet came in next we discussed the options, he has arthritis and allergies. She let us know of an injection for arthritis we never knew existed. She really loves animals and out dog, who is a ham. We asked going forward if we could get a room immediately and they said yes and asked if we wanted one with an exit door, so our dogs do not have to go through the waiting room. We said yes. Again never asked that by any vet. You can pay right in the room, another win. We have another dog who needs to be looked at. I can tell you as someone who just moved here, we will use them 100% for all our dogs and their needs! Added bonus we are able to schedule with the same vet going forward, which is great because they get to know your pet and their personality.

And he handles so many clients solo I don't know how he keeps up and I'm so blessed I am one of his clients because I know there's a wait list! I briefly went to another vet since he was super busy when I needed to get in and it ended up costing me more money in the long run because the veterinary was a young doc and needed to do X-rays, blood, and heart check up and still couldn't tell me what was wrong. So I got in with Dr Bracken the following week to find out he was diabetic. And it was a simple blood test. Go to an old school veterinary is what I was told! The new ones don't have you or your dog's best interest at heart and want to do a ton of tests when I feel like Dr. Bracken can figure it out faster. I fed her daily but wasn't allowed to bring her inside. After I moved, the guilt kicked in and I began the mission of trapping a community cat who is clearly smarter than most people I know. Eventually... success. I called ahead to ask if bringing in a trapped semi-feral cat was even a thing. The staff was incredibly kind and reassuring. The team handled it like absolute pros and whisked her away so I didn't have to watch the chaos unfold. From what they shared, Cat immediately demonstrated her Olympic-level wall-scaling abilities, but they managed to take care of everything we needed, AND walked me through a clear cost breakdown before doing anything, thank you! And were genuinely kind through the whole process. Cat is now home, safe, and pretending none of this ever happened. We'll be back for boosters... assuming I can outsmart her again.

However, there should never be a situation where the cat gets out of its carrier and is bouncing around the room. It is, of course, dangerous for the cat and everyone else. The folks that are really expert at handling ferals are the spay/neuter clinics. They service a ton of feral cats, because we TNR volunteers go there all the time. They also charge much less than regular vets. It is extremely helpful to get the feral cats into a double-exit trap too, rather than a regular carrier. It is so much easier for the staff at the clinic. Check out Altered Tails, Midwestern, the AHS, and my favorite, Low Cost Spay & Neuter (formerly AZSpay-- $55 per cat to fix a feral).
