With it being Dental Month and Roadside offering reduced rates I think it's important to post this. We brought our dog to Roadside Veterinary Clinic in January for a dental cleaning and planned extraction. During the procedure, he remained under anesthesia for an extended period while the veterinarian attempted to obtain permission to remove a second tooth. A second opinion later advised that the additional extraction was not immediately necessary and may not be needed for years. About 10 days after the procedure, our dog developed significant fur loss and a severe skin infection. Another veterinary office and a friend who works at an emergency vet hospital indicated that the wound pattern was most consistent with a thermal injury, which can be associated with warming devices used during anesthesia. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we raised concerns, we were told he may have had a rash at admission, and that details would need to be confirmed with the veterinarian. The clinic has stated they use a forced-air warming system rather than heating pads and has denied that an injury of this nature could have occurred there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were charged over $700 for MRSA and ringworm testing, and a possible thermal injury was never discussed. Antibiotics were nearly discontinued before the infection had fully resolved because lab results were pending. The first photo shows his condition 10 days after the cleaning; the second shows 4 weeks later. The infection has resolved, but the wound is still healing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We are deeply disappointed by both the outcome of our dog's care and the way our concerns were handled afterward. We expected transparency, accountability, and genuine concern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Instead, we received inconsistent information from staff, shifting explanations, and no meaningful acknowledgment of responsibility. Most troubling was the complete lack of empathy shown during our conversations. At no point did we feel that our dog's wellbeing or our concerns were taken seriously.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Compassionate care includes honesty, accountability, and concern when complications arise. We had a wonderful experience here! Our dog cut his foot and they were able to get us in same day to see us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vet was wonderful, she listened to me intently about how we tried to wrap his paw ourselves but we were unable to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After the cut and clean to see the wound better, she decided on staples for the cut which wouldn't require any wrapping which I appreciated because having to replace a bandage is extremely difficult with my dog. The vet came in to talk to me multiple times to tell me what was going on, what she recommended and her staff went over pricing with me before the initial cut and clean and after she decided on a treatment plan so I could approve what was being done and was aware of costs before anything was done. My dog, normally anxious, seemed completely calm here and everything was able to be done without even putting him under, they just numbed his foot which is nice because he was kept comfortable without the high cost of anesthesia. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were very fast but at the same time the vet took her time to get to know our dog and talk through everything with me. Everyone there was kind and helpful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We are so glad we found this place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Update: they called us the next day to check on our pup which was so kind![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While our pup with the staples was doing well, our other dog was acting sick so I mentioned that to her and after describing what was going on she suggested it might be Giardia and told me she could get him in that morning to get him tested. They got me in within an hour, tested him quickly and diagnosed him with Giardia. We got him started on medication and he was stopped showing symptoms within a day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then the next day they called again to check on our dog with Giardia.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The next day we were trying to remove a bandage from our Giardia-diagnosed dog's leg (our pups had a rough week) and he was not having it. We called Roadside Veterinary Clinic to ask if they could give us advice or prescribe a sedative to help us. They told us to come right in, and removed the bandage for us for free... like 15 minutes to close. We cannot express how grateful we are for them and how they helped us this week. read more

Kept me informed via email of appt. and est. costs. Went in and was quickly taken to a room. Vet. Joy and Asst. Taryn were fast and kept Pria calm. Did exam, gave vaccine , weighed her and examined her. Put in crate, paid in room and Taryn carried crate out to vehicle. Got next years exam scheduled. Was a great visit. read more

We loved the doctor, Dr Sydney .. even traveled out there from Livonia... Yes a drive. Our poor fur baby was diagnosed with Cushing's disease.. When it was time to help him to the Rainbow Bridge, the staff was HORRIBLE. NO COMPASSION I asked for a list of prices for the euthanization and for cremation. I was told I would be sent one by the end of the day. I did not get one. I texted back that I thought that was very noncompationit. They charged me $1600 to tell me my dogs need all these tests and drugs. Dr. Joy is a joke. Prescriptions were written by another? Not sure why? I was strong armed into things, paid for a 7 Panel Urinanalysis which they didn't even take the urine. I'll bring it up there because no refunds. read more

I wish i could give them more then 5 Roadside veterinary clinic helped support us making the hardest decision you could ever make when it was time to let our 12 year old husky cross the rainbow bridge. Dr. Joy was SO AMAZING, caring and loving to our family even though this was our very first visit. She assured us we were doing the right thing and helped us in the saddest of times. We actually had never taken our pets here but after a horrible experience at the veterinary directly across the street during this difficult time we made the call to roadside. Roadside didn't hesitate in even the slightest with getting us in as soon as we were ready. We will be taking our 5 other pets here in the future, if roadside was this caring and supportive during this difficult time we can only imagine how they will be during our other pets annual visits. Friendly, efficient staff; clean clinic; and the cherry on top is the vet! Dr. Joy is amazing with our fearful dog. Her love for animals is evident in the way she approaches and handles them. After trying a few other vets unsatisfactorily, we'll never leave Roadside as long as Dr. Joy is there!! read more

Took my daughter's dog in for an ear infection. They said it was a yeast infection, flushed it out and put a monistat type medicine in her ear. 1 week later, dog still sick and we brought her back in. Same thing, yeast infection and another $165.00 dollars. We are now up to $330.00 for an ear infection. Third week, dog still sick and they now inform me it has changed to a bacterial infection to the ear another $165.00. Maybe THEIR flushing caused the ear infection. We gave them almost $500.00 for a SINGLE ear infection. We took her elsewhere and she got an oral antibiotic. She is now on the mend. Please do not contribute to Vet Joy's house payment plan. GO ELSEWHERE--they are all about MONEY!!!!!!! Our dog is Nala. read more

We took our new puppy to Roadside Veterinarian office for shots, Prices are absolutely ridiculous! I was charged for a " Sample " worming, it stated that right on the package!! I asked why was I charged for this on next visit, she lied and said she pays for them when it clearly says on package the is a free sample!! On My last visit today I said "only give us the shot, I dont want to pay for anything else" and I walk out and get a bill for $140.00!!! I see they charged me 59.00 for a wellness visit I said I did not want, we just had one 2 weeks earlier! unacceptable!! My daughter took her 2 pups there and their first visit was $1400.00!!!!!! Needless to say WE WILL NOT RETURN, and neither will my daughter! unless you want a HUGE bill I'd advice FINDING another vet! read more

They get 2 stars because it may not have been intentional. The people were always nice and seemed knowledgeable, and the facility is nice. HOWEVER, I lived in Milford for a few years and paid regular visits to Roadside with my 11yo Lab/Collie mix. Ear infections were a constant battle and my dog was more often than not lethargic and uncomfortable. They put her on arthritis meds based on symptoms described and a check up, and that helped... but they also had blood work done at cost of $80+ to check for hypothyroidism or an issue with her thyroid. I was told the results were not clearly indicative of a thyroid issue so they'd have to do more test etc may have just been age yada yada... I move away - take our dog to the vet near our new place, and 1. They change the way were instructed to treat the ear-infection. One that made a lot more sense (how we applied the wash and solution + plus oral anti-biotics)... slightly different way to treat the same issue. Problem gone in 2 weeks. Then after receiving the records from Roadside - based on nothing other than the results of the bloodwork already done at roadside - our dog was given Thyroid medicine. After a couple weeks we re-tested her while on the medication and boosted her dose (btw the bloodwork they did here was forty some dollars with meds not eighty some dollars + meds). In the end the difference in treatments and pet care took at least 3 years off my dog, we no longer battle with constant infections in the ears, and she occasionally plays with her younger K9 housemate. The old pup is certainly glad we moved. I don't know that the kind people at Roadside maliciously held back treatments (it would be to get more $$ from testing). I kind of lean toward it just being a difference in opinion on proper treatment - but my dog benefited a great deal from going elsewhere, and as she is healthy now, so has my pocketbook. read more

This plave doesn't even deserve any stars. They misdiagnosed our family cat. A simple test could of saved his life. All they care about is money!!! Avoid this place. Our cat has a massive tumor that wasnt seen. Why you might ask, because they did every other test other then what they should of started off with. He's been living in pain because they "couldn't find the problem" which was found 1st visit at another vet office. Horrible place!!!! read more

We take our 2 Yorkies here and have been for coming here for over 2 yrs. Dr Pajak and staff are so great with our animals that the dogs actually like coming here!! We have their grooming done here as well and use them for boarding. We know our dogs get amazing care and can't say enough about how well not only our pets are treated but how they treat us as well!! After 4 1/2 months of "only" drugs, no tests, at Veterinary Care Specialists on Rowe Rd, Milford, we took our dog to Roadside Veterinary Clinic. Within one hour, Dr. Joy @ Roadside, diagnosed her with Sarcoptes Mites & began treatment right away! Everyone in the offices, was caring, helpful and knowledgeable....we had a wonderful experience and most importantly, we had a diagnosis and knew our dog was FINALLY on her way to recovery! read more

I am extremely dissappointed with Roadside vet. We have been taking our dog to this clinic on and off for over 8 years. We kept going to other places but the location was too convenient. Just in the past 4 years they have run many tests on my dog but never seem to come up with a concise diagnosis, or for that matter, any diagnosis. They are extremely expensive relative to other vets and I have yet to leave there really knowing what type of ailment my dog had at the time. The latest was a doosy. We brought our dog in because he was lethargic and had difficulty moving. The vet told us that he was suffering from arthritis and gave us a perscription for $300 of pain medication and chews (could buy all of this on Pet meds.com for almost half the price). Over the course of the next few days our dog's condition continued to worsen. We took him all the way to Flint to see a friend who was a vet and she immediatly diagnosed him with advanced stage cancer. Two days later we had to put him down. Fortunately she helped us with this tramatic experience. The sad thing with this is that Roadside Vet had taken bloodwork last spring but only told us that his white blood cell count was high (again no further diagnosis). Had they diagnosed cancer we would have least known what to expect and how long we had. We went from a seemingly healthy dog to having to put him down in just one week. Now that my dog is gone I have had time to reflect on his treatment by roadside. It was not until we took him to a different vet that we realized just how bad this place is. When we get a new dog, there is absolutely no way that I will bring it to Roadside. read more

This has been my vet for six years. I love that you can view your pets health information online. It is very handy when you need to prove they are vaccinated. They mail nice reminders via email and snail mail. They also now take your pups pic each time they visit. If you take your dog somewhere else like a low cost clinic they will update your pets record. They do a great job with the dogs' nails and anal glands. Each time they get groomed they get a free bandanna. Once only one of my pups visited and they gave me an extra bandanna so the other dog would not be jealous. My dogs are only six and nine pounds and they have had their teeth cleaned here with extractions and it went just fine...it is nerve racking having to put your dog under when they are so small. It is expensive though! Cleanings start at 200 and extractions run about 100 a piece. Then there are fees for testing and blood work too. They will use a drummel on your dogs nails when they are under during teeth cleaning....They do offer pet health programs for 50 dollars a month and you get unlimited visits. I have used the twice for boarding and I paid extra for play time and tlc. Both times the boys came back clean and safe and sound. My only gripe is this very expensive for boarding and general vet care. read more

We've been going to roadside for over 3 years. We purchased the pet insurance to "safe" money. Our dog recently became ill with a blood disorder. When we returned to the vet for another blood draw, we were prescribed 15+ pills, $250 X-rays and a script for an ultra sound. After going in for a second opinion, we found out we had a script for a pill that could make our dog internally bleed, something we tried to avoid with the blood disorder. Our dog was aggressively treated at a quick rate. When we question the ultra sound $500, the vet was very rude to us. We love our dog and money was not the issue, we felt like we were diving in to a deep hole without trying treatments. Our second cry, told us the ultra sound is usually held off and cut the pills down to 8. We also didn't have a bet plan and only paid $125 for blood work, X-rays and office visit. We felt poorly treated at roadside by the vet and very disappointed in her. read more
