ROAR is a brand-new, cat-inspired gift gallery. The owners have hand-picked a number of cat supplies (like toys, treats, etc), as well as a great selection of goods for humans dedicated to feline enthusiasts. No tacky stuff here! They have curated a nice set of things that I wouldn't be embarrassed to have in my home. It's a small shop but they've packed a lot in there and will continue to search for great looking goods. This is my all time favorite pet supply store because a) it's specifically for cats and b) it's specifically for cat engagement and welfare! There are so many unique and local products, all dedicated making sure cats are happy and healthy. I don't worry about a single item I buy not being healthy for my cat. The owners are lovely as well! Laura knows her stuff; she's kind and compassionate and will sincerely give you her time to hear you talk about your pet and their needs. She also creates a safe space to bring them in - and it's one of my cat's favorite places! Laura lets her make herself at home. I love how welcoming she is for cats and their owners alike! ROAR needs to become a Portland staple for visitors and locals alike. I'm in Vancouver, but this is the only place I go for toys, treats, and amazing, sincere service. Please, PLEASE check them out! The owner is very knowledgeable on all things cats so every time I'm in town I drop in and pick her brain- she's the sweetest, she cares, and she genuinely wants to see your cat photos too. (Wow) I will never visit portland and pass up on going into Roar to buy my cat everything awesome. (This store makes me feel like I'm doing right by my senior son whom I've left home to selfishly vacation) They have EVERYTHING you ever need in this cute little store: the best catnip with silvervine, the most innovative cat toys/hides/gear, t-shirts, locally handmade bow-ties, funny pins/patches, and just about everything you can imagine wanting to spend your money on. It's hard to describe how awesome Roar is. It's not because it's a cat only boutique, it's because of the quality of thought that goes into the products, merchandise that has been curated for the store. The Lounge cat scratcher is a must for anyone with a cat who loves to scratch and sleep on their scratcher. I have one for my cat and she loves it! They also carry churu aka meat tubes. Churu is a great way to give your finicky feline medicine. I stock up here every couple weeks. The owners, Laura and Jen and so welcoming and are there to share their years of combined expertise working with animals and cats. I have a few of the Da Birds, extra attachments for my wands, and a few of the lovely cat pictures, stickers, and many of the toys for my two cats. Cat toy favorites are the little animal finger puppets filled with catnip, da bird wand toys, the locally made wand toy attachments, Cat It flower water fountains. My favorites are the cat stickers and saying hi to Laura and Jen. I'm so happy that the store is a short walk and bike ride from my home and that they're here. If you can't make it in to the store, you can shop online with them. You won't get as much of the interpersonal awesome vibe via online, but you will get something fab both you and your cats will love! read more

An awesome store owned by knowledgeable cat folks with something for every cat! Laura and Jen know cats and products for cats and run their business with love. They stock both unique locally made items as well as tried-and-true products like YEOWW catnip toys. Prices are reasonable, and it's fun just to go visit and hang out, though I always walk away with a purchase or ten. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO, BAR NONE. My husband and I were just complaining how every single pet store is skewed towards dog owners, and cat owners don't have as much variety or choice when it comes to treats, foods, toys, and enrichment. Cat owners love their pets, too! Cat owners want to spend money on their pets, too! My haul: The freeze dried minnows that my cats love, which I've bought previously at Meat. A couple other flavors of freeze dried treats from the same company that makes the minnows. A cat pin for myself. These tubes of wet cat food/treats. A new litter scooper that the owner said I'd love because there's less sifting. Can you tell how excited I am for this place? Please grow this into a cat emporium and offer classes on how to train cats. I'd totally be into this. read more

Roar is unbeatable when it comes to cats. While I miss going into the brick & mortar shop to browse, they have pivoted to an online storefront seamlessly. I never feel silly asking questions about products or for recommendations. Laura and Jen sincerely care about providing cats with enrichment and fun - it shows in the products they carry and the customer service they provide. We purchased a cat fountain, and they have been great when I have asked for tips/tricks in convincing our cats to drink from it. They go above and beyond too, as they have reached out to us periodically to see how/if the cats have taken to the fountain. We feel the love, and so do our cats! read more

I shopped here for all the cats in my family this Christmas and was so happy I did. The owners clearly put a lot of thought into their collection and business operations. The toys I got here were a huge success and I loved that I could find cat toys that also supported worthy causes and were made sustainably. My order was nicely packed with an array of colorful tissue wrap and a hand written thank you note. They threw in a couple stickers too. Your kids will want to touch things, and that won't go over well with the owner. If you don't have kids (with you) and you want something amazing for your cat... and you like good albeit forceful advice ... this store could be great for you. I love cats. Roar loves cats. I love Roar! Best products, best advice, it's literally the best! Truly a haven for cat lovers and a very unique store. It has things for people that love cats, and things for cats. I've gotten a nail trimmer (better than the one I previously got on amazon), cat harness (yes, I'm crazy), stickers, and more. Love!! My vet told me about this place so we stopped in on our way home. Great products and we had such fun exploring. Laura let my kitty try on a harness, sample treats, and roam around. This store is amazing! The most important and impressive thing about this business is the incredible owners Jennifer and Laura. My good friend was getting help with her lost cat from Jennifer and in the process they rescued a abandoned and very sick kitty "Sam" Jennifer and Laura were so amazing and took this kitty to get his ear infection cleared up, they got him fixed and got his abscessed tooth fixed. They are now finding a new home for him. What an amazing thing to do!! What amazing people!!! Besides having a lovely business they have perfect hearts. read more
