I have never written a negative review, this is my first. After 15 hours of work, I stopped by to pick up crickets for my daughters lizard. The store was empty of all but two customers that had walked in with me. I asked the young lady at the counter for the crickets (you cannot pick them up for yourself at this location). She informed me that it would be 15 minutes, if not longer as she couldn't leave the counter. I got tired of waiting...im in my truck now, taking a nap. Maybe in another 15 minutes they'll have time for a customer. I'll not waste my money here again. read more

Petco is everywhere and that makes my life easier! Whenever I run out of SoFresh Kitty Litter I put the refillable jug in my car so I'm ready when I spot a Petco. Sure, I have my regular locations but if I spot one while I'm running errands and the jug is in the car, I'm going in! Like all Petco's they have food, bedding, crates, toys and accessories for cats, dogs, hamsters, birthday and reptiles. And the SoFresh Kitty Litter Refill center. If you refill a jug you get $1 off and save the landfill from count,ess mugs. I've been using the same for over 5 years and I refill monthly. Not sure why the negative reviews. Do not take your elderly dog to her groomed here they will tell you it's okay for them to get groomed here and then as soon as you bring them in because they forgot to put your dogs heath problems into their chart which mind you my mom's dog has a slight heart murmur that the vet told us not worry. And then the groomer lied to my mom about me and when I tryed to talk to a manager about it every time I tryed to talk she interrupted me and and was argumentative. read more

I used to shop here a few times a week, I will not be returning to shop here any longer. I may refuse to go into all Petco's now. Today was I grabbing supplies for my snake, only to look over at the live reptiles and see horribly neglected snakes. Not only were the Ball Pythons extremely malnourished to the point their skin was sagging off and their spines were showing - two were also in shed and only shedding pieces off at a time. This is sign of poor husbandry on the stores behalf, not enough moisture and I had to ask them to refill their empty water bowl. Another sign of abuse was having them all housed together which is extremely dangerous because snakes will eat each other when cohabbed unless for breeding purposes. Snake owners will know this, but not first time owners. They are promoting improper housing / care for their snakes and setting bad examples. I did confront an employee after revisiting a few hours later to check on the snakes to see if any improvements have been made and the only thing done was a half way filled water bowl. I then started explaining to him the snakes are extremely skinny and sad looking - as babies are normally plump. He argued back saying "they aren't even that skinny" and also denied that they were shedding, when clearly there were two that were. As I was walking out another store employee was very rude as well. I'm extremely disappointed in Petco and amazed at the animal abuse and neglect. They do not genuinely care for the quality of product (reptiles since they are selling them) or well being of animals. I will be recommending everyone to NOT go here. If petco wants to sell live animals their employees be educated and animal lovers... These employees are not. read more

The only reason I put five stars is for the associates. NOT THE MANAGEMENT. They treat their employees like trash. This store has their employees worked to the bone, I have never seen a store so understaffed. Masks are not enforced as strict as they should be, and there's one manager that is ALWAYS breathing down the necks of all of the associates. In the past few months, all of the employees that had any ounce of customer service have seemed to just...disappear. They are so understaffed that they have a table in front of the door advertising walk in interviews. Animals seem well cared for which is shocking for a Petco, but is that even worth it if the employees are miserable? I would call corporate but I can't ever seem to get through. read more

It totally make sense why this Petco has 2 star. I have been waiting on an assistant for 45 minutes and when I got there they told me I can buy a fish because my tank is small! Stupid! You don't buy a 30 gal tank for a half inch fish because it will get bigger in 2 years, You eventually move the fishes to a bigger tank as they get bigger. read more

Do not take your dog here for grooming. I live on the island and like to support the local businesses. So I scheduled a grooming appointment at the Petco on Jantzen Beach. I rearranged my work schedule to take my dog to her appointment and arrived early. On the appointment form I indicated she is 16 years old, deaf, and a poodle mix. We arrived and we were then told by Jeremy that we would need to reschedule because it's a training academy and she would require special care. When I advised that this info was disclosed when I made the appointment, Jeremy said it didn't matter as it is a training school even though the charge full price. He presented himself as a trainer and highly skilled. Obviously he is not an expert if he cannot handle an 18 pound senior dog. The fact that she's lost her hearing is irrelevant. He kept putting his fingers in her mouth even though I said I didn't want teeth cleaning at her age. He ignored me and irritated her. I won't go back and do not recommend. read more

I normally don't write reviews On stores...actually I never have but this one I had to let other people know How bad of an experience I had. My son recently got a fish for his birthday and the filter Went out so I looked on Amazon to find a new one after I realize I had no idea what I was really searching for I went to Petco the nearest pet store. I don't Have any pets so everything in the store was pretty foreign to me. It took me about five minutes to find what I was looking for during that five minutes not one person in the store greeted me or asked me if I needed any help but there were about five employees that I saw working and only one other customer besides myself. In comparison to Amazon the three options that Perco had for a filter seemed to be priced high And I also didn't know if I was picking out the right one so I went to the register to ask the cashier if she could help. It was an older woman with short hair she was working on a cat toy or something she looked right at me and turned to the other customer that was in the store and asked him if he was ready to check out. I did not say anything I simply walked back to the aisle where I found the filter and put it back on the shelf and left the store. I don't know if no one helped me because I was black or what but I also noticed that there was not one person of color working in the store and the customer the cashier decided to help was not black either. I was offended Not only because no one helped me or greeted me in all of the 15 minutes I was in the store with no other customers, but even more so at the fact that I was blatantly looked over and ignored when I went to ask for help. Perhaps if I would have read the yelp reviews before I visited the store I would've re-considered my trip. However I understand the frustration of the other customers. I will go back to Amazon and find what I am looking for. I will never go back to the store again I will also make sure to tell other people if they feel they need to visit a Petco do not go to the one at this location. read more

Petco is where the Pets go. Or do they. I did not see too many in there the day I was here. There were some nice people working there though it seemed. I was very impressed with the great stock they had in. They have a lot of Blue Buffalo dog food,which seems to be my dog's new favorite. I also got the dog a nice new leash that will recoil very easy when I push the button. But, it also allows for her to run along without getting all caught up on anything. I like the clean smell in here as well and the clean human restrooms. Another great thing is their Petco card which provides instant monies off your purchase with the things that are on sale. As well as you can get some great coupons as well. Add it with no sales tax and it is a great place to go for all your Pet needs. So maybe the Pets do go there after all. Heheee. read more

This is the second time I brought my golden doodle here for a haircut. The first time was fine with Wendy. This time was a horror show with Christine. She doesn't listen. I asked to have a close clip but not so close that you can see his pink skin. Just take it down a bit. Well my dog is bald and you can see pink skin and even where he has freckles on his skin. This is a thick curly haired dog who looks ridiculous. He has no hair anywhere but on his head and ears. He can't go out without protection or he'll burn! My god how could she do this when she knew I had expressly asked her NOT to do this. Do not go to this salon. They don't do a good job or at least Christine, who acts like boss and is more interested in answering the phone than working on dogs, does a crappy job! There are SO many amazing local pet shops that are so very worth your support and do tons of good work in the community, that unfortunately, corporate Petco isn't really worth your money in my humble opinion. So while I prefer not to shop here anyway, occasionally if I'm in the area I get roped into thinking I should surprise my little beast with a new toy or something. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. I won't go for round 3. I have been taking both my doxie and my Mom's here for grooming for a bit now. What I've learned over time is there is no consistency and also no responsibility taken at Petco. After the first or second time I took my dog here he developed a horrible and painful skin rash. His fur looked odd and he had this painful bumps everywhere. After an expensive trip to the vet they gave him a shot that relieved his pain and after some time cleared up his skin. Upon discussing the issue with Petco they couldn't understand how it could have happened. Believing it was a shampoo they used, I researched and purchased one that came highly recommend for dogs with sensitive skin. Fast forward to today...with a few groomings in between...my Mom's doxie is constantly scratching himself. No fleas...nothing obvious on his skin. Three different trips to the vet and multiple different kinds of treatments and nothing seems to work. And now after the latest grooming at Petco...my poor doxie again has these painful bumps all over his back and side. In addition his anal glands were not expressed properly or his nails filed smoothly. So I'm done...SO done with their services. I don't take the dogs to the groomers to come back and be in pain and miserable. They obviously are both being affected by something there. From here on out I'm going elsewhere. read more

He helped us get supplies for our new puppy such as helping us pick out a cooler, leash, crate and food. He even went out of his way to get us $ saving in store coupons and was extremely helpful. I'm a fan of Petco, but not this location. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Thinking about it still makes me upset. My boyfriend works at Best Buy so I visit him for his lunch quite often. I love to spoil my dog & often have to wait for my bf to get off for lunch. So why not stop by Petco & pick up some goodies for my dog! The 1st time I stopped in there I was looking for a new grain free food. I look over 15 mins for walking & looking for an employee. There was non to be found. I could not believe it. What type of huge store doesn't have any employees walking around. The 2 registers that were open had huge lines & I was not waiting in line when PetSmart was right by my house. I wanted to give this place a 2nd chance. I wish I didn't. I left so upset. Once again I had a question on where something was & a few other questions. I only wondered the aisles for 10 mins this time. I FINALLY found an employee that wasn't at the register with a huge line!! And guess what, they HAD to go to break & could NOT help me at all or even find someone that could. Now I understand the laws & you cannot go over x amount of hours without a break. But be a nice human & find someone that can at least help a customer out. This place is ridiculous & so disappointing. read more

Don't buy any type of service package here. I signed up for a dog training class package. The instructor quit half way through the class series and said someone from petco would call me if they didn't find another instructor and class was canceled the next week. Well, they never called so I called them and they told me to come in the next day for a refund. I came in and they said I had to come in another day when the manager was there and I couldn't be reimbursed over the phone. I could tell by their POS system that the associate could see all my purchases and that I was indeed signed up for classes but still refused to reimburse me. I called them out on how unprofessional and inconvenient it is to make customers do a special trip to have a transaction taken care of by a manager, and the associate was condescending and said, "We're not a bank." What even is that? Just don't shop here. It's overpriced, understaffed, and poorly managed. read more

Well, I have never had issues before but I drove 30 minutes out of my way to get here today, only to find that the entire fish section was blocked by people waiting to have their dogs microchipped. I would really like to know who decided that the dog section would not have been a better place for a microchip clinic. I have hosted many microchip clinics and was never this disorganized. It takes pure talent to create a mess of that degree. After asking a dozen people to move and having my dog pounced on twice by geniuses who were not watching their own dogs, I managed to escape. I really hope they rethink their event planning in the future. And maybe finding a manager with a higher IQ is in order. read more

Took my Roxers in to get a nail trim and her anal glands cleaned (hey don't judge). She really hates the groomer and getting her paws touched. They took great care of her and had her in and out in all of 10 mins! They trimmed her nails up nice and short too without snagging her quick. Groomers always say "oh bc her nails are black we left them a little long so we didn't snag her quick." Then I have to go right back to the groomer to get her nails done again 5-6 weeks later. Not this groomer! Very professional and sweet to my girl. She'll be back. Or should I say we'll be back! Wendy and her team are awesome! read more

I was about to check out and was going to buy my puppy sold canned food since that's all she will eat. So I asked the cashier what food would be good for my puppy not to get an upset stomach. She was extremely nice left the register to help me and told me a tip don't buy top brands foods they may be good on the wallet but bad for your pet. And to check and make sure water is not the first 3 ingredients on the label. She helped me find some better food and said if my dog won't eat it to return it. And my dog loves it and it doesn't upset her stomach at all well worth the money!! read more

My fiance and I decided to go here to get our new puppy groomed and were really nervous. Wendy did a great job bonding with our puppy, understanding exactly what we wanted, and did a great job! We have now been back multiple times. The pricing is reasonable and the staff friendly. I only give it 4 stars because the store feels like you're time traveling to the 1990's and they don't stock the brand of dog food or treats we buy (Orijens). read more

I scheduled an appointment for a haircut/nails for my dog...drove him there (he hates the car) and was told they've been running behind all day (funny cuz I never received a call before dragging my dog there asking me to reschedule??). I was told there was a new groomer and she still had four to do...I guess my appointment was an afterthought or didn't matter??? The lady then looked at me as if I was the one in the wrong (had she called me to reschedule it would have been fine...but she waited until I showed up?). Where is the courtesy? I guess my time doesn't matter? She later called to offer me a free full service cut...but NEVER going back...their lack of consideration for my time is disgusting!! Puppy socialization classes every Saturday/Sunday 1:00-1:30 except when they cancel it last minute, she's on vacation, or doesn't show up that day. We've been trying to go for 3 weeks and this has happened every time.... Our dog is now too big to go to the puppy classes. Super disappointing to drive all this way in the middle of our Saturday for something they may or may not offer. read more

Kudos to this Petco managers Shevan & Aaron for their pleasant and professional response to an issue w/ "overzealous" grooming. Our poodle developed bilateral severe ear infections that cost a vet's visit of $217.00 to cure. Filled out the online survey & received a phone call Aaron immediately. Petco paid the vet's bill & reimbursed us for the total cost of the grooming. Class act! read more
