Husbands in the cage because us wives refused to go.

**BEWARE OF LOW RATINGS AND LIARS POSTING REVIEWS HERE** I've been going to Robbs Resort for 4 years now and a lot has changed, but I've never had a bad experience in any way. The owners used to have a bar and there were some restrictions regarding bringing your own alcohol, but that is no longer the case. Camping is first come-first served. BYOB and drink or eat your own food anywhere on the property. If you drank expired alcohol, YOU brought it. There was a food/snack truck this past weekend and they said they had everything. Our friends were happy to find they even had Rolaids for an upset stomach so that was a great vendor to have on site! The bands they bring in are always great and the sound system is pretty awesome! We always hang out on the dance floor and meet lots of cool people. The family and extended family at Robbs are friendly and welcoming to everyone; if that isn't your experience, then you're doing something wrong. I think some people drink too much and they're asked to leave an area or stop a certain behavior and then they're embarrassed so they lie and say bad things. The guys in the birdcage are NOT gay; that was my husband and a friend of ours, and none of us girls would go in the cage so the two guys went without us. They didn't do anything vulgar or erotic (pics attached). I won't name names, but there is one recent post that was simply full of lies. The owners can't control everybody's behavior but they do a great job of keeping Robbs a family-friendly, fun and safe place to camp and listen to awesome bands. If you don't like it, just don't go (and don't come back). For those of us who love Robbs Resort, we will be back and we'll continue to call Robbs our happy place.

Their meadow is my happy place!

This is my 2nd year enjoying Robbs and it's heaven on Earth! It's the cleanest place you'll ever camp (due to pride of ownership) and the concerts are a BLAST! I'm grateful the owners keep their standards high, always maintaining a safe place to dance and enjoy a few drinks from their bar. I can't wait to go back!

My husband Sean & I can't say enough about how much fun Robbs is. It's a family owned resort tucked away in the beautiful mountains & the family are all kind & generous people. We love coming up with friends & family to listen to the excellent bands they have! The place is immaculate, & the kids have a blast dancing! You gotta check it out! Jan ONeill

Not a great place for a music festival. No outside alcohol and $16 drinks. No place for kids to view music either.

No noise curfew means it's the one place you can truly have a late-night party 3. They have awesome people with very few rules (no fires, respect max # campers allowed) - other than that, they let you manifest your dream! 4. Massive granite hottub and swimming lake are amazing 5. You can have people camp or glamp on site (we hired their tents and supplemented with Anywhere Outpost - wonderful!) 6. They have some infrastructure but you can bring in your own booze, rentals, catering, etc. - so you can curate your dream wedding (for food hire Blend or Camber Events! for drinks hire Pizen! for wedding planner hire Jenn Robirds Events!) 7. It's absolutely stunning. The natural granite, pines, and beautiful flowers everywhere. It's amazing!! You can have any kind of wedding here - a DIY small wedding, big elevated elegant wedding (like we did), something simple, something over-the-top. It's all possible!

June 27, 2023: Tuesday, I attended a wedding here; it's FIFTEEN-MILES inside rough, rugged, BLM…read moreLAND terrain! It took almost ONE HOUR from leaving Highway 88 in order, arriving at The Hideout Annex where I attended the wedding venue! Will you please carefully study my photos and will you please notice the GARMIN GPS time stamp for the photos, too? This is no exaggeration . . . Seriously--The Hideout is in the middle of CA BLM TERRITORY, i.e., WILDERNESS REGION! My photos will make you pause in utter silence due to the fact the entire area is just so utterly remote. More importantly, make sure you do NOT drive a vehicle with a low, wheel base clearance such as a sports car or a sedan; for your safety, drive an all-wheel drive SUV, dually truck, i.e. any 4-Wheel Drive vehicle is best. In addition, this entire region's location is extreme wilderness equating, survival terrain. Never come here ill-prepared despite, weddings venues are conducted here, i.e., cold temperatures shifts drop erratically here--hot around 75° F during the day, temperatures drop to 49°F around 6:30 PM--please bring a down jacket, warm pants, socks, boots, hat, gloves, down sleeping bag/blankets, pillow, medicines, a change of clothes, toiletries, fire starters, wood, food, H2O: Everything you'd think bringing on a wilderness camping trip-PACK INSIDE YOUR VEHICLE especially, if you get too inebriated to drive, you might as well sleep off your alcohol party binge without freezing, eh? Plus, whatever supplies you bring in, you must consciously pack out - - - being mindful "wild things" live everywhere around The Hideout . . . So NEVER keep food or toiletries inside your vehicle--because you're just asking for a "wild thing" to cause dangerous drama in your life when you're WAAAAY too inebriated dealing with the dangerous toothy thang, i.e., you just won't survive THAT attack! A lot of parents I noticed were irresponsibly allowing their children running loose, frolicking through the fields/meadows unattended, and unsupervised while attending the wedding at The Hideout: It's most important not allowing children running freely, parents must maintain possessing absolutely heightened, cognitive awareness of sights and sounds 24/7, follow rules such as putting food in bear containers, keeping bear spray in possession 24/7, making sure children don't drop food anywhere, keeping children sticking by their sides without fail, and never allow children run freely through the meadows where rattlesnakes and large animals are simply camouflaged, unnoticeable, and undetected. Sadly, the four restrooms are too far away from The Hideout Annex which is across a huge field causing the children striking out on their own accord--independently scurrying reaching the restrooms in time without having "an accident" where unfortunately, their parents lose their watchful eyes on their children! Therefore, I don't recommend children under ten-years old should attend wedding venues at The Hideout because The Hideout's wedding location is just too remote . . . The Hideout is a gorgeous, wedding venue; however, I just wouldn't recommend young children accompany their parents here. There are too many possibilities for young children being injured or wind up missing due to the area being too vast and too remote; I personally just want immediately removing the odd equation and eliminating the happenstance beforehand-period. I would only consider The Hideout as an adult wedding venue worth attending; however, I definitely would refrain having the children in tow, i.e., hire an overnight babysitter/Nanny for attending a wedding at The Hideout.

Everyone we interacted with was so kind, and Meg in particular was wonderful. She was thoughtful, collaborative, responsive, and incredibly easy to work with. No matter how small the question was, she took the time to offer guidance and reassurance. We held both our ceremony and reception indoors, and the space felt cozy and magical. The stone fireplace -- almost mythical in appearance -- with a glowing fire created the most spectacular atmosphere. The building itself is endlessly enchanting; every corner feels like a discovery. Surrounding the venue, the grounds are beautifully inviting -- the edge of the lake, the tall trees, and expansive views create space for quiet moments and truly stunning photographs. Our guests were enchanted by Valhalla -- those who had visited before shared how meaningful it felt to return, and those experiencing it for the first time expressed a desire to come back. Valhalla offers something rare: a venue that already holds so much character on its own, yet welcomes personal touches effortlessly. It allowed us to create a wedding that felt entirely ours. It holds a very special place in our hearts, and we're so appreciative of the wonderful experience we had.

Just wow! We could not have imagined having our wedding in a more perfect location. It was…read moreeverything that we hoped for: a bit off the beaten path with absolutely stunning views highlighting the mountains and trees that we love so much, but close enough to Truckee to make it accessible for all of our guests. And the owners, Fred and Pam, are the kindest, most welcoming people that go above and beyond to make you feel like family and make your day perfect! We cannot thank them or recommend their property enough! We visited Mitchel's Meadows on our first day of wedding venue touring. We had multiple tours and hours of driving planned for the day and set aside about 45 minutes for our stop at Mitchel's Meadows, but ended up staying for close to 2 hours chatting with Fred as he showed us all over the property, before inviting us in for hot chocolate and homemade treats around the fireplace in their home. It was a cold November day and they had put away most things for the winter, but the magic and love for their property showed through and we knew this is where we would celebrate our day. We chose to have our ceremony on a grassy area off the back of the home (which we had access to the entire day and was where the bridal party got ready!) overlooking the meadow. This is the main ceremony area, but the owners also gave us the option to have it anywhere we choose on the property to make the day our own. Our First Look was in an aspen grove a short hike from the house (which the owners had created a path to, complete with wood crossings over marshy areas) by the Little Truckee River. Our reception area was adjacent to another meadow just up from the house. The owners have built out an ideal space with pavers and tent, string lights over an outdoor dance floor, a bar, multiple seating areas (both around the dancefloor and in the meadow!) and permanent restrooms - all included with the venue rental. We loved moving throughout the property as the day progressed and enjoying all of the different spaces. The property is truly magical and words, nor photos, can do it justice. Other amenities to highlight: In addition to access to the main house, there is also a workshop where the groomsmen got ready, multiple firepits and heat lamps to keep warm when it cools down at night, and lots of odds and ends from previous weddings to help fill out decor or save the day if something was missed or forgotten. Additionally, the owners provide a golf cart shuttle service between different points of the venue day of. And as previously stated, the tent is a great bonus. This isn't usually something that comes with a venue and is typically rented separately, but it provides a great "indoor" backup peace of mind for weather. On our wedding day, we lowered the clear flaps of the tent to keep out the wind, but the clear material still allowed us to enjoy the surroundings. Finally, the property is yours for the entire weekend; Fred & Pam only book one wedding per weekend, making coordinating rentals, setups and teardowns super easy and stress free as it does not all need to happen on the wedding day. We are absolutely thrilled with how everything turned out and the memories we made at this magical spot in the forest. Another shout out to Fred and Pam for the HUGE role that they played in it! The care they have for the property and the amount of work they put into it truly makes it special. They are beyond accommodating and immensely helpful. They take the time to get to know you and are genuinely invested in helping you make your day the memory of a lifetime.

Chris and I had the absolute pleasure of getting married at Mitchells Meadows this past weekend…read more The venue is unbelievably special and should be at the top of the list for any couple seeking a gorgeous outdoor wedding in the Tahoe area. Chris and I had looked at most venues in Tahoe and narrowed in on Mitchells Meadows for the following reasons: 1) It offers a rare combination of feeling truly remote while offering infrastructure: The venue is tucked away in the Tahoe National Forest in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, with a property featuring picturesque streams and large meadows with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Our first visit to the property took our breath away -- it offers stunning beauty and feels really off the beaten path (no cell service onsite -- which we LOVED). You have to see it for yourself to really understand. Simultaneously, however, it feels accessible -- It's only a 30 minute drive from the venue to Truckee, where there are many hotels and airbnbs for guest housing. The property itself comes equipped with key infrastructure which would typically make such a location challenging for event planning -- a tent with flooring, a dance floor under the stars, string lighting, bathrooms with a view of the mountains, a gorgeous wooden bar hand-built by the owner. 2) The owners are incredibly special people: Pam and Fred are the heart and soul of the venue. There wasn't a time when we visited the property when Pam didn't invite us up into the house to have iced tea and baked goods. Fred is known to build things custom for weddings on property and is constantly working to ensure that the space is manicured and perfectly maintained. Pam and Fred clearly love their property and work to ensure that every couple getting married there has a perfect, tailored experience. 3) No wedding at Mitchells Meadows is exactly the same: Chris and I did not want a cookie cutter wedding and we visited a number of venues that felt like "wedding mills." Mitchells Meadows is the opposite of this. Each couple can really design their personal vision -- there are a myriad of choices for ceremony location, for first look, for cocktail hour, and the space really becomes a scenic pallet for couples to create the experience of their dreams. With that said, Pam/Fred make it easy, guiding couples with best practices and offering built in infrastructure (For every guest, there will already be a tent, bar, dance floor, fire pits, and stage already available at the venue, for no additional cost). 4) There are no noise ordinances: This was actually huge for us in the decision process, as we wanted guests to be able to dance late into the night without interruption. Almost all of the venues on Lake Tahoe (if not all) have a strict noise ordinance of 10 pm. As it's fully tucked away, Mitchells Meadows allows its patrons to party with amplified music until midnight, giving much more time / flexibility around the celebration. Mitchells Meadows was such a special experience for us and enabled us to throw the most perfect mountain wedding. Our guests danced under the stars, lounged by fire pits late into the night, and marveled at the views. We've heard so much feedback that this was the most amazing venue people had ever seen. We couldn't recommend Mitchells Meadows more strongly for anyone planning a Tahoe wedding. Go and see it for yourself and you'll understand immediately.

I've grown up here and love that the venue included one of the area's most historic homes. So I knew as soon as I became engaged, that I wanted to get married here. Booking a year in advance, didn't think we would have weather issues in late May but we ended up having to deal with a rainstorm. Kurt and Nina were awesome and let us set up tents last minute the Friday before so that they were ready to go on the big day. They even provided a pop-up tent of their own to cover our DJ. Even though we had to limit our decor to the minimal covered areas, our wedding was still the perfect day we had always dreamed of. There was no communication between staff, poor communication between the management and us as clients, employees were unsure of their own roles and our provided "day of coordinator" had zero idea how to coordinate a wedding and I as the bride had to keep the day moving and tell her what to do next. (Even though we came up with a typical schedule together.) The management didn't know the size of the tables available at this location, and at our rehearsal the day before our wedding, we were told that we had to redo our whole seating chart because the tables were actually smaller than we knew. The food was brought up all the way from Sacramento in a U-haul truck, which was visible to the ceremony site during the ceremony. Half of our guests got sick afterwards. The food menus they gave to us to select catering from did not reflect what was actually available either. The chef took our selections down with a sticky note, and they lost that sticky note. They had to call us to confirm our choices. Choices we had to change AGAIN because the menu changed again. I even had to fight to have a decorated cake, and even then it ended up being extremely minimalist by design. More than once our wedding detail consultation dates had to be changed in favor of weddings that were much larger than our smaller event. They basically left our event planning to the very last minute. 2 months in advance. We spent $500 on liquor and sodas for people who didn't care for our pre-fabricated signature drinks (old fashioned's and French 75's) but the venue provided bartender never even touched those supplies. Instead, he opened up all of our red wine bottles at once, giving no thought for guest demand. We had to throw out half of the untouched wine bottles at the end of the night. Our guests had ZERO idea that there were more drink options. Please save yourselves and get married somewhere else. We are haunted by this experience.

First the pros. - [ ] This venue is absolutely beautiful. The property and the barn with its chandlers, white draping intertwined with fairy lights are absolutely stunning. The venue at sunset is astonishing and creates a colorful backdrop for your special day. - [ ] The back patio and lawn areas are spacious and can comfortably accommodate 100 people. - [ ] They offer a small mobile bar and you choose 3 signature cocktails. They provide the mixers, water, ice, cups and straws. We provided the alcohol, beer and wine. - [ ] The Bridal suite was tastefully decorated and is an ample size for a small bridal party. - [ ] There is plenty of parking. The cons - [ ] The owner is extremely difficult and very unpleasant to work with. Not much is in writing and she changes her mind and the rules as she goes. She consistently made comments about us loosing our deposit if we did this or didn't do that. This was both prior to the wedding and during the wedding reception. I don't believe it was only us. When we came on Monday for the table delivery, she was complaining about the bride and the brides family from the weekend. - [ ] During our interview she told us that we could have access the week prior beginning on Monday. She said she was very flexible and just let her know when we wanted to come, she would work with us. Once the contact was signed we were told we could only have 3 hours prior to the wedding. She stated that she had been taken advantage of and had to tighten the access down to 3 hours. We had already made arrangements with her to have 10 barn tables dropped off on Monday and she told us that would count as 1 of our 3 hours. - [ ] During our 2 hours we had to set up the venue she was constantly with us offering her opinion. The bride had spent a lot of time deciding on how she wanted the tables and things set up. The owner was overbearing and constantly offering her opinion. It became very uncomfortable especially since we only had 2 hours to prepare. She told us that the tables needed color and looked bland. They were what the bride wanted. It was a hard and uncomfortable situation. - [ ] The bar ran out of ice and bottles waters early in the evening. Luckily it was not a hot day, the day's high was only 84 degrees. They did not refill the soda and water barrel. I had to ask twice but was told there was no ice or water. The majority of the time there was no ice and no bottled water. I had brought 2 large, very nice metal and copper drink tubs and were told no we couldn't use them, that hers would look better. - [ ] Parking is a long walk on uneven grass and in the dark. She has guests park on the opposite far edge of her property. She could easily have them park closer. I'm not sure why she does that? - [ ] No bathrooms, just two port a potty's for 100 guests. - [ ] At one point during the reception my daughter's grandmother went into the bridal suite to get something for my daughter and the owner hurried up to me and she told me that she had remotely locked the suite. That someone was in there that wasn't allowed. She said she locked it and we could find her if we needed to go inside and she would remotely unlock the door. She again threatened that she would have to keep our deposit if anyone went inside that wasn't allowed. Who wasn't allowed?? First I had heard of that?? - [ ] We followed the rules. Music stopped at 10:00. We had hired a helper and with the help of several family members we had everything cleared out, chairs stacked, tables wiped down and all garbage in bags put where we were instructed. We packed our cars and were out at 10:58 since everyone had to be out by 11:00. It was a challenge, but we did it. We started clearing off the runners, garlands and table signs while the dancing was still going on. We were confident that we would receive our full $1000 deposit back. - [ ] We received only $180 of our $1000 deposit back. Her reasons were ridiculous, unreasonable and unfair. We felt she planned to keep our deposit from the very beginning. The wedding was beautiful and the guests all enjoyed it. If I had to do it over I would not rent this beautiful venue. The owner was unpleasant, unfair and incredibly difficult to work with. She added so much unnecessary stress to the process.

What more can I say than what I have already said directly to my coordinator, my husband, my family…read moreand friends... and honestly to the universe. I have waited 16 years to finally get married and was given the green light from my fiance to have the wedding of my dreams. I searched forest wedding and Twenty Mile House was the very first one that came up. I loved that it wasn't too far of a drive away, the all inclusive packages and the accomodation option to stay on site for me and 53 of our guests. We had compared prices to similar venues but found it ridiculous that for the same price, we would only have the venue, tables and chairs at the other places. So with that, Twenty Mile House became the winner. We absolutely loved the vintage cozy look of the homes, the miles and miles of forestation leading up to and within the venue, and the most amazing staff i have ever experienced with. Both Rachel and Ashliegh were absolutely amazing! They both listened and made all of my requests come true. Some had to be compromised, but it didn't change much of my vision. Our bartender Jasper was absolutely amazing and so kind. The lights, the vibe, the music, all of the vendors... they all worked together like a well oiled machine and made every wedding planning moment up to the wedding day absolutely perfect. I'm a chill bride and solely trusted the vendors and Ashliegh on their skills and talent. I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous at times, but said yes when they said "trust us". They absolutely delivered! The cake was exactly how I'd envisioned it and was so delicious, the food was a huge hit for my husband and I and our guests (I wanted to takr home the meatballs and freeze them), the DJ was perfection, the florals were immaculate (more than what i had expected), and the photographer Rachelle was sooo kind and made our little awkward selves so comfortable. We had hired a non preferred videographer for our day but both Rachelle and Ashliegh worked well with them. Thank you Twenty Mile House for making our dream wedding a reality! We will definitely come back one day and rent one of your homes as an Air Bnb, just so we can relive a little piece of our wedding. Thank you, thank you, a million times thank you!

The service is organized and the people there are friendly and accomodating. There are individual cottage/cabins which can be rented for out of town visitors and each one has a distinct character. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants a unique and warm venue for a wedding.
