This is by far the worst service I have ever received by any handyman/contractor. Yelp never fails me but for this service it has. It first started with him being 15 min late to our initial appointment. He then called me at 2:15 and started bitching about the parking situation. This is Los Angeles! Besides my area isn't that bad for parking. I didn't really understand what the problem was. I basically had to find a spot for him. Anyone who does house calls in Los Angeles should have the common sense to know that parking is difficult in LA. He had my address for a several days, he knew where I lived. If he wasn't going to be able to handle the parking situation he should've told me. I've never had a contractor call me and say that they couldn't find parking. His work is messy. Every handyman I've hired usually cleans up their mess before leaving. He left dust and wood shavings in my bathroom, bedroom, and living room as well as his trash. He half finished the job yesterday and was supposed to come over today at 9:10 am. It's now 10am. I've called him multiple times, left a message and texted him. Still haven't gotten a response. He is one of the laziest and slowest human beings I've ever met. This experience has been such a headache. I usually have such great experiences using yelp. I am now going to call another handyman that I know from Orange County and beg him to finish this horrible job. Robert left a gaping opening in my window which he was supposed to cover with plexiglass today. He left it covered with cardboard! This guy is incompetent. Thanks for reading. read more

I first hired Robert off of craigslist to do some stuff around my apt. He scheduled to come around within 24 hours. He finished installing a light fixture in minutes and charged a fair and minimal fee. Super nice guy w/ a positive attitude and a plethora of tools and skills. Fast forward a few months and we needed him again to take care of some rather intricate pot-rack hanging. This guy is a perfectionist to say the least. He gave me several options to hang the rack and suggested a sturdy, trustworthy method that allowed us to hang 50 lbs worth of pots and pans from our drywall ceiling with no problems. Then he moved onto a butcher block in our kitchen and stripped the top of mold, dirt, dust and general ugliness. The thing looks brand spanking new and is now a charming (and more importantly, USEABLE) addition to our kitchen. Go ahead: Hire Robert to perform any electrical, plumbing, painting, demo work or landscape jobs and it will be money well spent! Super trustworthy, super fair pricing for his expert skills and a helluva nice guy. Plain and simple: Robert kicks BUTT! I'm really confused by the high ratings here. I used Robert in March 2012 to install TVs. First, it was very difficult to get him out to my place. We must've tried to coordinate him coming out several different times. Once there, he had difficulty finding the studs in the wall, and he ended up drilling several holes on one wall before find them in one room. In another room, he simply didn't want to do it because his electric stud finder couldn't get a reading. I know you can find studs in the wall without the tools. He seemed to rely quite a bit on the tools rather than on his own wherewithal. At times, it seemed like I knew more than he did about getting the TV up. I just didn't have the tools to make it happen. However, despite that, he was a nice guy and did get along with my cat. When I couldn't find the screws for one of the mounts, he provided me with some from his supply. He seems like a kind guy, but I also hired him to do a job. I really wish he didn't drill all those holes in the wall. I am a bit nervous now that the TVs aren't secured properly because it just seemed like guesswork, and it's unlikely that I'll hire him again. read more

I'll second that initial review. We had Robert come over to install some curtains and when he discovered that the hardware that came with the curtain rod wasn't strong enough to hold the curtains without making the center droop a little bit, he basically created another bracket out of extra parts and installed it in the center. The whole thing looks great, and I'm pretty sure than anyone else doing this would've just left it as is - okay, but not perfect. With Robert, I get the sense he's going to go for perfect every time. I had a bunch of little things that were just out of my skill range but didn't seem to require hiring an electrician or a plumber. I called three Handymen in the neighborhood with good Yelp reviews and Robert was the only one to get back to me. I had an issue with my door, a busted garbage disposal and two lights that weren't working. He fixed everything in one session. I went from having an apartment with a bunch of things that needed fixing to an apartment that was totally fixed. Exactly what I was looking for from a handyman. His rates were extremely reasonable. I dreaded and procrastinated about calling a handyman based on bad experiences with plumbers and AC repair gus, but I was totally satisfied with Robert and will recommend him to everyone I know. I hired Robert to install a new kitchen sink faucet. Very nice guy, did a great job, and the price was very reasonable. The saying in his profile picture regarding lower labor costs is true. The HOA plumber quoted pretty much 3-4 times what Robert had quoted. What I appreciated about him is that he saw a much cheaper alternative which would allow retainment of the old faucet and mentioned that that was a possibility. The faucet was really old though so I told him to get rid of it. He also took his time making sure everything was correct and that's why he can guarantee his work. He also helped out with another problem part of the sink that a prior plumber failed to fix. I would not hesitate to hire Robert again if needed! read more

I hired Robert B to touch up paint at an apartment I was leaving (major security deposit was at stake) and install a window AC at the new apartment. He got the job done and handled the mini obstacles that came up with the shade of paint quite well. My only reservation was that I requested discretion as I didnt want the building manager to know that I was hiring a handyman to touch up the paint. The moment I saw him, he was wearing a shirt with his company logo. I was irritated as my request for discretion was not regarded. It made me very uncomfortable. I got over it. He did a good job. He was prompt and it was clear he put integrity into his work. Though I wish my request would have been honored, I will recommend him. PS I did get the deposit back and a stellar reference from that landlord. The AC was installed perfectly and benefited using it during the hot summer months. read more

If I could give Robert 10 stars I would...we all know how stressful it is to have a list of "fix-it" items build up over time and not know what to do or who to turn to.... the things that stressed me out on my quest to find the perfect handyman were: 1. competence 2. cost 3. honesty 4. professionalism Robert is all that and a bag of chips. He seriously fixed everything listed below: broken AC unit leaking kitchen sink (not a typical I can see it drip...but a much more complicated ...where is that water coming from) door that wouldn't close properly door that wouldn't lock properly added a door sweep to a extra large custom door (difficult size) fixed a sink stopper that wouldn't come up (two other plumbers "fixed it" only to break again 2 days later) he custom build a mini deck that connected our current deck to our side house stairs added door frames/molding to 2 interior doors custom built floor moldings in two separate rooms and was able to match the molding even though it wasn't available anymore...(he made it himself) and a lot more. What's the big deal you might ask? Well let me tell you...his prices won't give you a heart attack and he follows up with his "fixes"...our plumbing problem with our kitchen sink was complicated and he would check in after the jobs were done to make sure everything was satisfactory. He cares about his work and it shows - give him a try ... you won't regret it. read more

Mixed review. On one hand I agree that Robert is extremely smart, is very much a perfectionist, is responsive, has good rates, is flexible, and is very good at his job/s as an electrician/plumber/handyman etc. He mentioned that he was trained as an engineer, and it definitely shows in his intelligence and in the quality of the work that he does. From what seemed like it would be a quick and simple vent replacement, he immediately detected an unlikely structural problem that proved to be true. He goes above and beyond to fix the problem, and fix it right. On the other hand, his reliability was an issue. Of about 6 scheduled visits, he cancelled one of them last minute, and was up to an hour late for 3 other scheduled visits. While some fluidity in scheduling is reasonable, it was frustrating to schedule an appointment at a time that was less convenient for me but more convenient for him, and then for Robert to be up to an hour late in arriving at that time. If he comes on time, he is definitely your guy. read more

He is very intelligent and definitely a perfectionist. He is honest about his skill set and his pricing is incredibly fair. He has come to work on our place a few times. His engineering training is apparent. However, there is an issue with reliability. He is a bit flaky so you have to have an incredible amount of patience. He can be hard to reach and difficult to get him to commit to a scheduled time. It seems like he has a lot going on. Why didn't I find Robert earlier? I'm prepping my condo for open house and just had tons of things to fix. In two hours, Robert did the main job of removing 5 heavy security bars from my sliding doors and windows, aligned all my kitchen and bathroom cabinets that weren't shutting properly , removed a not to code outlet that my former tenant installed and rewired to code, and just walked around fixing things that caught his eyes. He was kind, honest, hard working, and had magic hands. I'm a first time customer but will now be a life long customer of his. Specialty repairman will only fix one thing and charge a lot, but Robert fixes pretty much everything but at a low cost. Not kidding. So much value in finding this gifted and honest man. read more

Robert recently came t o my condo to do some minor patchwork (door frames, chipped wooden blinds, patch drywall, paint) and was a huge help. He's very knowledgeable and works with you on a budget to get the most value for his time (he scales his rates on the type of work being done). Robert was an all-around nice guy, and trustworthy so I was able to leave him alone with my dogs while my girlfriend and I went to work. While I only used him for basic handyman work he seems capable of much bigger jobs like plumbing and electrician work. That said he did manage to active my built in home water filter and replaced the filter so I no longer need my old britta :) Two enthusiastic thumbs up for Robert- if I ever need work done around the apartment again he'll get my first call. read more
