Moderate service, lack of timeliness. I've come back to the salon a few times and always end up waiting 15-20 minutes. Don't get me wrong everyone is so so friendly here and offer you drinks and stuff but it doesn't justify the lack of understanding of hair. I expect to leave with my hair done after 5-6 hours, but I had two experiences where the color wasn't done correctly and I had to come back for adjustments. One of the last visits here I had asked for semi permanent color but was told after the fact that they had used permanent dye. I had to go to another salon to color correct my hair. Maybe it's a lack of understanding of my hair type... the cost of the services say that they should be more professional. What a wonderful salon experience! I booked with Cesar and he did an amazing job with my hair! I have long asian hair and it's always hard for me to find a stylist that can do it justice so I was really happy with my outcome this past visit! I ended up getting a butterfly cut which was perfect for more volume and layers. Cesar's assistant Taro was also really great and did my hair wash and dry service before the cut. Both of them had such warm and welcoming personalities and made the overall experience really pleasant! I also got Cesar's hair mask, part of the Caro hair product line! Haircut was alright but not worth the three-figure price for a dry cut and going out of my way to fight SLU traffic to get here. I tried this place because someone had recommended it as a place that knows how to handle Asian hair and I was disappointed to find that the person I got most certainly was not experienced with thick Asian hair. They did a decent enough job but clearly were not familiar with how to cut the (very common) style of thick long straight hair I had and, despite the cut taking nearly an hour, I can only describe the results as mediocre. Would've been reasonably content with it for a $35 haircut but not for a $120+ dry cut. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience yesterday. I saw Lilian for a haircut, and she went above and beyond. I have not had a cut in 6+ months, and my hair was in sad shape when I walked in. She got rid of the dead weight, framed my face, and after the blow out she even gave me some soft curls. Lilian did a beautiful job and I will absolutely be back to see her again. I admit it, I'm one of those folks who thought they would get creative with their own hair at home and color it myself. After all, how hard could it really be to get ashy brown from a semi permanent fire engine red, right? Lol Yeah so I showed up at Robert Leonard doing the walk of shame with my hoodie pulled up and sunglasses on. I was so embarrassed - my hair was TRASHED! Snapping off, brittle, dry, melted. But here's where things get real good - I'm so lucky to have been set up with Micah Kawamoto. He is the SH*T! He educated me on proper hair care and he HOOKED ME UP with a beautiful ashy brown. He has a great personality and is a lot of fun to talk to as well. We made a plan taking baby steps to work towards my hair goals. I feel confident that I'll be there at the next visit! Once Micah Kawamoto finished my color, he handed me over to Diny Ruiz for the hair cut. I have fine hair and I've been trying to grow it out from a very short blunt bob. It was just below my shoulders at the time. I explained to him that I wanted to keep as much length as possible yet at the same time, wanted my hair to look and feel healthy. He managed to salvage most of my hair only taking off maybe an inch and it looked shiny, healthy and was tangle free. Overall, my expectations were far beyond exceeded. I left with an extra giddy up in my step and feeling great. No more hoodie for this girl! Oh and, they serve beverages and the hospitality at this salon is unreal. The colors were not in the same tone as what I showed in the reference photos. I've been sad looking at myself in the mirror, seeing my hair color. Also, you should reconsider having your hair dyed here as the products they use might damage your hair. I had a partial balayage done here with Christopher and the dye completely dried my hair out. He is a master colorist and hair designer and I've never left his seat less than 100% happy and blown away by how he transformed my hair. Clean, modern hair salon in downtown Seattle. The type of place that feels upscale, but not overly fancy. I called to book a blowout, and they were able to accommodate me on short notice. My stylist was Maddie, who was skilled and enjoyable to chat with. I have a full head of 22 inch extensions, and they were able to maneuver them easily. I asked for soft, *subtly* old Hollywood curls, and that's what I got! The photo I attached was after several hours of walking around outside on a hot day. Compared to last time, the salon was almost half size and I enjoyed atmosphere with lots of plants. Color with Kendal: she was very friendly and she made sure that I get right color I want. She was very friendly and explained whole process and detailed about which products she uses. Cut with Diny: he was very detailed and he made sure the length and angle. I cut over 30cm(12in) and my hair was aooo much lighter than before! No more 25min-30min hair dryer for me! The price was around $300 with color and cut. My hair looks so healthy and shining. Hands down the worst haircut I've ever received. Called the salon to get their recs for the hairdresser that is very experienced with Asian hair (a tricky hair type to cut), a person came highly recommended and I was reassured that she knows how to deal with thick Asian hair. I told her I wanted light layers and a tiny trim to get rid of some split ends. Not satisfied with the outcome (super choppy haircut with aggressive layers) and customer service (they were just trying to fill the new girls schedule not looking out for what I needed). Super disappointed. They did offer to have her try to fix it, but she did such a poor job that I would never let her touch my hair. read more

I started going to Robert Leonard about a year ago. Prior to that I had not had a professional haircut in over 20 years!! Growing up, I had a really difficult time at salons and found that most people didn't know how to work with my hair. My hair is really thick and has a strong non-uniform wave/curl to it. I always left the salon unhappy and feeling like the shape was all wrong, so I just started cutting my own hair...for the next 20 years!! I cannot explain how gratifying it was to walk into a salon and have my hair cut in a way that I genuinely LOVED. The person who cut my hair is named Maddy and I cannot recommend them enough! What a wonderful human being. Maddy is so talented and a joy to spend time with at each appointment. During my consultation, she got second opinions from a couple of her equally experienced colleagues and it made me feel totally at ease and prioritized. I had gotten some corrective work done over the last 8 months and my hair still had a little ways to go, and this salon got me to my dream hair! The atmosphere is luxurious and upbeat, very clean and aesthetically pleasing. You can always tell a salon is good when you look around and *everyone's* hair is gorgeous. Micah is the absolute best!! I had been seeing Micah for my modern balayages when I lived in Seattle, and he made sure to discuss what I wanted my hair to look like prior to the appointment. Since these appointments take a while (and I have very long hair) I had a lot of time to get to know Micah; he always exuded a confident, calming energy, and was so professional and easy to talk to. I'm an introvert and usually get tired after long interactions, but I found it easy to chat for hours with Micah or also to sit in comfortable silence. I always left feeling so relaxed and looking so good. He would also give hair care and styling advice throughout the session, as well as educate me on the science and terminology of hair coloring, which I appreciated. You can really tell he cares about his art. I've recently moved to Boston and wish they had a Micah here. The free parking on weekends at the Amazon parking garage across the street is nice for long appointments, rather than having to move your car from a 2-hour spot in the area. The front desk is helpful for changing or confirming appointments, although I will say that they could be more welcoming or friendly. I get it though. read more

$1400 BOTCHED HAIR! I wanted an all over burgundy color and trim. I ended up leaving with an orange hair color instead. (I am not confrontational) so I decided to take the L even though I paid $1400 which is crazy as is!! When I left I couldn't see the back of my hair and someone pointed out that I had discoloration everywhere. Here are some pics below of how my hair turned out vs what color I was supposed to receive. When I called the office to see what they could do about it, I spoke with miss Morgan who was incredibly RUDE and unprofessional. She told me that my hair stylist and I agreed that I would have discoloration leaving the salon LOL. Why would I agree to that? Then she said she would just refund me back $1000 sounding super annoyed with me even though my hair was botched and I lost out on money!! She didn't even ask me if I was okay. She was incredibly argumentative and just mean. Then the stylist, Cesar started calling me off Instagram and writing me. It was all very aggressive and unprofessional! As a girl who only went to cheap Asian salons, I decided to treat myself for once and chose Robert Leonard. It was worth every cent and I will be coming back! My stylist was Alisha and I found her through Instagram. She was so responsive through messaging and recommended that I come in for a consultation since my hair goal was going to be a big project. I had a very warm red-brown-blonde situation and wanted to go a cool silver-blonde. Alisha was very honest with her opinions, pointing out that what is in right now may not be suitable for everyone. She was very realistic about the color we can achieve due to my warmth without damaging my hair. I appreciated how honest she was, keeping my hair health and what suited my skin tone in mind. A month after my consultation, I came in for the real deal. I was early and the staff seated me right away since Alisha was done with her client early. Throughout my color and cut, Alisha was very vocal, explaining what she was doing, which I enjoyed. Her assistant Mikia (I'm so sorry if the spelling is wrong) was also so helpful and gentle and both of them always made sure I was okay. I also received a haircut like one I have never gotten before. I am a girl with A LOT of hair and Alisha was able to thin it out a little without making it choppy or flat. As a client who was in the salon for 4ish hours, I also saw plenty of other clients come and go in the salon and the staff were so nice. Alisha really made my hair goals come true and although we had realistic expectations in mind, the result was so much better than what I had anticipated! I'm not even sure from where to start, I've never really enjoyed my experience at a salon and I've tried to find a good stylist in Seattle for several years but I was never able to find someone who knew how to work with my hair. I'm Brazilian with coarse hair and it takes a very talented stylist to cut my hair well. Today my experience at this salon surpassed all my expectations. Cesar is incredible and so talented.
