Loooove this place for countless reasons, but most uniquely because 1) the ambience is melty zen; 2) yet we can also socialize (!!!) and, 3) the staff are wonderfully responsive. I'd come here roughly three times before deciding to host a Galentine's Day celebration, via private booking. The multiple spa spaces (steam room, clay sauna, Finnish sauna, and more) make it perfect for a large-ish gathering to have elbow room (we had 20 people) while the layout also makes it intimate enough that we felt connected. Nothing like all your friends cheering from the hot tub while you cold plunge! While the spa is always "social" so no need to whisper, I highly recommend the luxury and fun of a private booking. Aside from respectfully keeping our voices low in the locker room near treatment rooms being used by other guests, we were able to laugh and toast to our hearts' content. On that note, the staff was so accommodating with a table for the snacks we brought, a tub with ice for our drinks, and generally all the coordination that it took to pull this off. They made it as easy as possible. And on the day-of, Denise was a particularly gracious host -- welcoming us and even patiently/considerately snapping a group photo from multiple angles (at our request, to be clear - haha). I hardly ever leave reviews, but this one deserves one. I was really happy to find a spa in the city because I genuinely needed some time to de-stress, relax, and take care of myself. I was surprised they had a last-minute, same-day appointment available and was really grateful for that. I originally booked my appointment for 7:30, and within a few minutes they called asking if I could change my appointment time. I had no problem with this because it actually gave me extra time to enjoy the spa beforehand. However, the girl who booked my appointment told me the change would be better because I would have complete private access to the spa, which ended up not being accurate. I also specifically requested someone who was very experienced with deep tissue massage. When I arrived, I realized I had been booked with a different therapist and a different appointment time than what I thought was confirmed. The staff did acknowledge the mix-up and gave me a complimentary juice, which I appreciated, it was a kind gesture. Unfortunately, the massage itself is where my experience shifted. I have been receiving massages regularly for the past 15 years, and while my therapist had some good techniques and did redeem herself toward the end of the session, overall I felt the level of professionalism and presence was lacking. The first thing she shared with me was that the front desk overbooks her and doesn't give her enough time between clients. While I understand that can be frustrating, hearing internal workplace issues as a client right before trying to relax felt off-putting. During the massage, there were several moments where I felt she wasn't fully present. For the first 10 minutes, it was very obvious she was on her phone texting while massaging me with one hand. I eventually asked if she could please use both hands. Her response was that it was difficult to massage the neck with both hands, but as someone who gets massages often, I could tell the issue was that her attention was divided. Her phone was vibrating throughout the entire massage. Throughout the session, she repeatedly stepped away from the table, whether to grab oil or other things that could have been set up nearby. This kept interrupting the flow of the massage. There were many moments where she completely broke contact with my body rather than maintaining connection with her hands, which is something that is generally considered an important part of creating a grounded, professional massage experience. Toward the end, I do feel she became more present and incorporated some nice techniques, which I appreciated. However, around that same time, the front desk became extremely loud. It honestly sounded like there was a party happening outside of the treatment room, which was distracting and took away from the peaceful environment I was hoping for. Overall, the massage portion unfortunately dampened my visit. Her name is something along the lines of "May". If you want a text-free massage, I recommend going to someone else. I was also a little concerned about the cleanliness of some of the areas by the heated pool and cold plunge. I noticed hair on the steps and dirty towels left in the saunas/steam rooms. That being said, there were definitely things I did enjoy. The space itself has a cute vibe and I really appreciated the thoughtful details.. the cold towels, ice balls, tinctures, aromatherapy, and little touches throughout the bathhouse. I really enjoyed the variety of each room. Overall, I think this bathhouse has potential and there were parts of my experience that were enjoyable. Most alarmingly, a man entered the room while I was partially exposed. Beyond these privacy violations, the establishment required unusual waivers regarding touch in sensitive areas that felt inappropriate for a professional massage. My only complaint is that the space is a bit small and can feel a bit crowded, especially the locker rooms which literally have the lockers right up against the entrance. They use curtains to preserve privacy, but when people enter, if you have a locker by the door they will bump into you. We had two massages scheduled and it was quite disorganized from beginning to end. They did their best to accommodate but it felt frantic. The locker room is WAY too small for the amount of people they let into the facility at once. There's 2 showers and 1 toilet and no space to get changed. There really wasn't enough staff to give you a full tour and explain the layout. It was odd. We kept having to ask for information. I didn't even venture into the hot tub, as it was stuffed full of bodies. The sauna's were nice, but really hot. The snowballs did help, but still found it uncomfortable to sit and chit chat without getting overheated. My massage was a overall good, but my male massage therapist left me feeling uncomfortable. He was not very considerate about keeping my naked body covered while I changed positions on the table. While on my stomach, he put me in what felt like a wrestling pose. He put my hands over my head and then told me to roll to my side so he could work on the knot. I looked down and my boobs were hanging out and jiggling around because of the pressure he used. I couldn't reach the blanket to cover myself. He also grabbed my hair and arched my back while in this position. It made me feel uncomfortable, but wrote it off as a unique massage technique. He was a nice guy and chatted my whole massage. In fact he talked a lot about marriage and gave me lots of unsolicited advice. It wasn't until the end of my massage, when he had me rotate on my back, he was rubbing the front of my left leg and then lifted my knee up to my armpit to do some sort of hip opener. I was sooooo uncomfortable because he didn't tuck the blanket to protect view of my vagina. I'm pretty sure, he could see up to my cervix. He did the same on the other side. Again, maybe this is a unique type of massage specific to this spa. The massage therapist also had me huff some essential oil at the beginning and middle of massage... Now I'm hoping it was just essential oil and not something that would harm me.... I will NOT be back. I spent $300 and left feeling germy, violated and disgusted. Okay, so I REALLY wanted to like the place because it's close, not bad priced, and I thought it would be a lovely monthly addition to my self-care routine. Getting any facial treatment does not actually include any soaking time, which...I understand, but I would rather pay a bit more and have it include the full spa experience vs. separate. I thought it was kind of weird because I didn't want an hour and a half of soaking time, but like, a nice 30min before a facial would've been awesome. I arrived a little early and was asked to wait on a bench right outside the treatment rooms, but it mostly just felt like I was in the way. My facial was in a treatment room that was RIGHT NEXT to the locker room (that also had shared showers and a tiny dressing area). You could hear activity in the locker room over the calming spa music, and it generally felt like the walls were incredibly thin. HUGE shout out to the woman who did my facial, Monique, who I would've continued seeing because she was amazing...but when I called the day after, I was informed by someone who said they were an owner that she had put in her notice the day prior. Given she had mentioned that she helped build the treatment practice and hired a bunch of the facialists, she clearly wanted the place to be successful, so I am wondering what actually happened. While I didn't have a horrible time, it definitely felt like there are some new spa growing pains for this place. The owner Leslie was so sweet and gave us a tour of her space and joined us for connecting as well. I loved the there was free parking for 3 hours just scan the code on your phone. As you enter in you're welcomed and asked for your shoe size for sandals and led back to the changing locker rooms. There's showers to rinse off before and after. And, there's plenty of signage around to guide you through the different rooms and time suggested. This was the first time I've ever done 2 minutes for a cold plunge and my body definitely thanked me. I have issues with inflammation and this spa day was the reset I didn't know I needed. I've lived in Southern California for 17 years mainly in Los Angeles but also San Diego. I actually moved here for functional and integrative medicine as well as the more progressive health and wellness scene. I've worked with elite athletes at a performance center where we had red light, cold plunge, cryotherapy, float tank, and a lot of other recovery modalities before they became mainstream. I also have integrative doctors who do vitamin IVs, hormones, peptides and other more progressive stuff that were ahead of the curve. For first responders I utilize wellness studios for sauna, cold plunge and float tanks to calm their physiology after cumulative stress or traumatic incidents wear them down. Who would have thought in Renton Washington I'd have a wellness spa/studio next to my hotel that is far more fabulous than any I've been to in LA or San Diego? They do have vitamin IVs, Botox and a host of other holistic or functional medicine type stuff. But the winner to me is a really affordable 2 hours to do multiple different saunas that are SWEET and even include aromatherapy and sage, a really big cold plunge, thermal hot tub, and steam room. You even get to choose an herbal drink prior to starting your sessions. Most wellness places give you steep pricing to a la carte one kind of sauna and cold plunge or other expensive individual treatments that don't last that long and would easily cost double what 2 hours of time does at Soak & Sage to do multiple saunas, cold plunge, ice balls, sage, aromatherapy and lots of other amenities. The place is extremely clean, modern and relaxing. This would be a great place to go after a stressful day of work , for a date night with your partner to calm down and bond, and whether you're an athlete or first responder, that's training hard or dealing with a lot of stress - this could be a game changer to do once a week or so for recovery to enhance your performance. I'm searching around San Diego after returning trying to find something similar with no luck. Just the à la carte super expensive narrow option wellness Studios. This place is like a little retreat center and I'm hoping I get to go back to that hotel just to visit Soak & Sage again. Booked the two hour pass here, check in process was very easy and they walked us through everything. The bathrooms were small and it's Interestring because the changing area weren't actual floor to ceiling walls so I could very easily hear stuff happening in the male bathroom which is a bit weird but the actual toilet area had walls and separation. They had tea and water easily accessible and all the sauna and steam and hot tubs were very nice. The hot tub was small and only could hold a max of 6 people it said on the sign but I did see more than 6 people cram in there at one point. This was by far the worst spa experience I've ever had. The champagne body scrub was extremely subpar and clearly performed by someone who seemed improperly trained -- only the tops of my arms and parts of my legs were scrubbed, with entire areas completely ignored. After the mud application, I was told to rinse off in a makeshift shower in the middle of the room, which felt awkward and unprofessional. When I returned for lotion, the sheet was still dirty with mud and hadn't been changed or cleaned. The facility itself is small, cramped, and misleading compared to the photos. There are only two female showers and one bathroom in the locker room, and the lockers are so tightly packed that two people can't even change comfortably at the same time. I brought my daughter-in-law expecting a relaxing experience, but it was anything but. I even had to translate prior to her 60-minute massage because the masseuse only spoke Spanish. We also paid an extra $60 each to use the amenities, which were overcrowded and absolutely not worth the additional cost. Overall, the entire visit was disappointing and far from relaxing. Upon arrival, the 15-car parking lot in front of the facility was full, but we were able to find parking along the side of the building. Parking is complimentary, but you need to register your vehicle by scanning a QR code and entering your credit card details on the website (though you won't be charged). This appears to be run by the property management group. Admission is $60 per person for a two-hour entry, with an additional 3% fee for credit card payments. This pricing is in line with other day spas in the area. Slippers and towels are provided, though we found the slippers to be very slippery when wet, which made us cautious of slipping or twisting an ankle. I'd recommend taking extra care when walking in them. The towels, while not the highest quality, served their purpose. The staff at the front desk were friendly and explained that Soak and Sage operates more like a bathhouse than a traditional spa. This means that visitors are encouraged to chat with one another, which is a more social environment compared to spas that promote quiet and relaxation. If you've experienced hydrotherapy circuits at other spas, you might be somewhat disappointed with the offering here. We were excited to check out the facility after following its construction on social media for the past year, but there were a few aspects of the experience that didn't meet our expectations. One of the biggest concerns we had was the lack of encouragement to shower before using the pool areas. In fact, there are no showers in the hydrotherapy circuit space at all--only in the changing rooms, which are far enough from the circuit that it doesn't seem to promote showering between stations. As a result, people transition from the steam room or sauna straight into the pool areas. From our experience, both owning a hot tub and visiting spas around the world, we could tell that the pH levels in the hot tub were off, and it had a funky and sour smell. The water was also cloudy. On a positive note, the cold plunge was truly cold, unlike other spas that claim to have a cold plunge but feature water that's closer to room temperature. We also enjoyed the spacious sauna and liked the aesthetic. A second sauna was under construction during our visit. The steam room does a good job at generating a lot of steam, but the mechanism for pumping in the steam was incredibly loud, making it hard to hear the person right beside you. Additionally, there was no scent in the room; the staff suggested we bring a tiny container of potpourri in with us to sniff, but it felt a bit odd. The locker rooms are very small. They have a single toilet room and a two-person shower. I'm calling this a two-person shower because in the ladies room, there are two shower heads but no separation between the two, making the space feel less private. The locker room was quite crowded when we arrived, with showers and the toilet room occupied and three other people changing. There's a small bench near the mirrors with hair dryers, but no benches near the lockers, which made changing uncomfortable. The lockers require a key that you must carry with you during your spa experience, but without robes with pockets, there wasn't a great place to store our keys. We also found that the showers in the locker rooms never got hot, only warm, which was disappointing. You should also note that the locker room walls don't extend to the ceiling, so conversations in the locker room can be easily overheard from the hallway or men's locker room and vice versa. While it's great to have a new local spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, I would recommend visiting with modest expectations and embracing the social atmosphere. This isn't a luxurious experience, but if you go in with that mindset, you can still enjoy the experience for what it is. read more

I took advantage of the $49 birthday week special. I came in on an early Friday afternoon, and there weren't many people there at the time. I went alone, just wanting to relax post-birthday festivities and work. I didn't realize this was a social spa, so I came at a good time when it wasn't too busy. I followed one of their circuits called Detox, but you can do whatever calls to you. I enjoyed the steam room and the Finnish sauna the most. I was brave enough to take a few dips into the cold plunge pool a couple of times, it was at a chilly 43 degrees. The Temazcal sauna was nice, but it can only fit about 4 people. The thermal pool can only hold 6 people, and not comfortably. There were about 6 or so people, including me, in the whole facility at the time I arrived and was doing the circuit. By the time I left, there were maybe 12 or so. But most of us were already there for two hours and about to leave. I did chat with a couple of people, but I don't think I will come back unless I have at least one friend with me, as I prefer to stick to myself when at a spa and that its at least relatively quiet (that was on me not realizing this was a social spa and not one to be left alone to relax and reflect). Overall, the facilities were nice, the locker room was clean and stocked for whatever you need, they have a hot tea station as well as chilled, cooled, and sparkling water for drinking in between experiences, snowballs to take with you into the Finnish sauna to rub all over yourself, chilled towels with essentials oils to help refresh your face and body if you wanted, and many other items to enhance your spa experience. read more

Do: bring bathing suit, arrive 15-30 minutes early for parking, changing, checking in, and pre-rinse and walkthrough. There is 3hr free parking out front, but if you get the 2hr parking down the road they won't let you extend the time(not Soak & Sage's fault) but if you are early your car spot will end earlier than your hydrotherapy.. Fairly packed.. would have liked a more immersive and intimate experience, but a good experience nonetheless. They had a 43degree cold pool, fairly shallow at 2'3", same with the hot tub (forget the temp, but a good temp) two types of hot rock based saunas, one on the smaller and lighter side which is definitely nice to start with, and the other at 201.. HOT, but still nice. The favorite was probably the steam room, set at 109, they had cold towels you could grab, cold/warm water and sparkling water on tap. I do wish they'd have clocks in every spot though.. $69, 2 hours, not bad! They also have small lockers with reusable code locks that you can put your own temporary code into to protect your stuff which is nice, provided shower gels for washing after, as well as a quick 10 second bathing suit dryer. This place was nice, priced better than some competition since you get two hours rather than one, little noisy at times from groups, but everyone was very friendly! read more
