Run by the affable BC and his brother Joe the Tip of Cardiff is a stationary food trailer where the Mother of All Burgers (MOAB) and the Tri Tip sandwich are served. BC also serves Mahi Mahi tacos, Chicken Breast sandwich and Portobello mushroom burgers for those of you who don't eat red meat. But if you are a carnivore I highly suggest the tri tip sandwich. I just said this in a prior review; when it comes to reviewing on Yelp I really try to give the organization the benefit of the doubt. I have never given one star. I know people work here and that's how they make their living so I wouldn't want that for myself. And as I say always, who cares what I think anyway. But, I do find Yelp helpful, because I want to know what people who walk in my shoes think. I travel on business quite a bit, and it has helped me pick great spots more than it has been wrong, so I'm always trying to be truthful as well. The truth here is, I never got to try the food. So, I can't tell you whether it's good or it's bad. I can tell you I'm disappointed I never got some, because the reviews look great, and I love hanging out at the Kraken. My problem was that the gentleman who was working in the truck, and I don't know if this is the owner or not, was as rude as anybody I've ever met in the restaurant business. Now, I worked in it for almost 10-years, so that's saying something. Apparently I asked a question that the answer to was on the whiteboard right in front of my face. I guess that's on me. I suppose I should've seen it, but I didn't, so for having the nerve to ask a question this man had apparently been asked more times than he cared to answer, so he let me have it verbally. I nodded, turned around and left. I know where not to spend my money, and if anyone asks, I give them a fair review. I did not slam the food, I wouldn't make up anything just to get back at somebody behind a keyboard, and I didn't sensationalize the confrontation. That would be disingenuous, and I just want people to know what they might get into if they order at this establishment. Try it if you want. I hear some good things. Always curious about TIP and finally got a chance to eat there. A friend's band was playing at the Kraken so why not. B.C. is an accomplished chef. I was going to try the Mahi-Mahi and he had a substitute that day. Sushi grade yellowtail. Lightly seared with the freshest tomatoes, onions and lettuce along with some serious gourmet sauce. I need to head back. Good selection of beer inside and even on a busy day it was was easy to find seating. Small menu that has something for everyone . I've seen The Tip evolve over the last 15yrs from the patio with handwritten, daily menus at the back bbq, to the more semi permanent, gated, bamboo bbq (EAT HER) with a surfboard menu (endorsed by Warren Zevon-and his hair WAS perfect) to the current, trendy food truck location, upgraded with fryers, refrigeration and running water. Wanted to compare their tri-tip to Cardiff crack. Ordered the sandwich and after 20 minutes with some fries I got my sandwich which was pleasantly warm and the French fries hot but not hot enough not to eat. the sandwich came with lettuce and tomato on the side. The bun was soft and the sandwich I thought would be larger. Not big enough to share and or to completely fill you up. My only complaint is there was not very much meat on it which was disappointing. The flavor was so so. Not a backyard BBQ taste and does not come close to the famous Cardiff Crack Tri-Tip at Seaside Market. The sandwich was $11 and the FF was $4. Overall, I would say okay. Not worth making a special trip there. But if you are drinking at the Kraken, it is worth eating. One last note, the picture of their Tri-Tip sandwich shows twice as much meat as my sandwich had. I LOVE the food, the Service, everything! BC & Joe are the best! Tri-Tip sandwich is my all time favorite.....would take it over Cardiff Crack anytime.....so tasty and cooked by guys who really take care and time in making each item on the menu for their guests. They cook everything to order.....when you get your food (15-20 minutes sometimes) its worth it! Over the years, I've also had the Fish sandwich, the Burger, the Quesadillas (made w/ tiny corn tortillas and other fillings on request), the hot dogs are even just really really good! Hebrew National, they split them in half to get a nice grill on them, and the buns/rolls for all are really good. All fresh ingredients! Love Love Love these guys and their food.... You would never think that a dive bar biker bar would have an amazing food truck like this. First off, the Kraken is a great place where anyone can go to relax and enjoy a drink with friends, the music, sunsets, etc. To top it off, there is a food truck right outside of the bar. The food truck is run by two individuals, B.C. and Jo. I had the pleasure of meeting both of them and I have nothing but positive things to say about the two of them. Great personalities and great sense of humor. The food is absolutely amazing. It's all fresh, it's all made right in front of you and they're all very good ingredients. They don't buy the cheap meet or the cheap wine to marinate the meat or the cheap cheese for your grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken is farm fresh as well as my favorite, the tri-tip. Any item you decide to choose what are your taste buds and make you'll crave for more. Oh and if you ever get a chance to try one of their mahi-mahi tacos, they're phenomenal. It's not on the menu and they do not serve it every day, just ask nicely and then be happy to make it for you. Thanks again you guys for all the delicious meal I wasn't expecting at a bar.
